A realistic shadow helps your subject feel grounded in the scene. In Photoshop, there are several ways to create one, depending on your subject and lighting. Based on workflows shared by experts in the Photoshop community, we've brought together a few of the most effective techniques here. Choose the method that best fits your workflow. Method 1: Using Generative AIAI can speed up the setup, but you will still get the best results by refining the shadow yourself.Use Select Subject or Remove Background to quickly isolate your object. Keeping your Layers panel organized just got a whole lot easier. Layer Cleanup in Photoshop 27.6 and above automatically deletes empty layers and renames layers based on their content, so you can focus on creating, not housekeeping. With a single action from the Layers panel, Photoshop scans your document and removes blank pixel or text layers that tend to pile up during exploration. At the same time, it can intelligently rename layers, giving them clear, descriptive names that reflect what’s inside, so you no longer have to guess what “Layer 37 copy 2” contains. You’re in control of how much cleanup happens. Run it across the entire document for a full reset, or apply it only to selected layers when you want to tidy up as you go. Here is a quick tutorial demonstrating this feature. Why this mattersFaster navigation in complex files Cleaner handoffs when sharing PSDs with teammates Less friction when revisiting older projects Better layer discipline without manual effortWhether you’r

Adobe Photoshop Version: 27.4.0 2Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit When I go to Image → Canvas Size, the default is always pixels. I want it to be inches. Note: I have checked in preferences, units and measures, and the default is inches. Also when I go to image → Image size, the default is in fact inches, which is what I expect. Is the default unit for image → canvas size now different? Is there a different place to set it? thanks
# Generative Remove runs on the CPU instead of the GPU since version 27.9.1**Issue summary**Since updating to Photoshop 27.9.1, the Remove tool in Generative mode loads about 6 GB of data into the graphics card memory, then performs the actual work on the processor instead of the graphics card. The graphics card stays at idle power for the whole operation. A removal that used to complete quickly now takes several minutes.**Product and version**Photoshop desktop version 27.9.1 (build 20260803.r.1 65900e1)**Last version where it worked correctly**Photoshop 27.8.0 (build 20260610.r.13 4081857). I just bought the new samsung book 5 pro 360 with the ultra 7 and intel arc graphics for using photoshop. it has 16 gb of ram and let me tell you, it runs like a turtle. this laptop cost almost 2 grand so I feel like it should be able to use Photoshop without any issues. I dont even know what is the cause of this, I have tried searching for advice but nothing super helpful comes up. Has anybody else got this laptoip or experienced this. Mike
Thai should be available as a user interface language in Photoshop. Thailand has a population of more than 70 million people, representing a substantial potential user base.Adobe already provides Photoshop in a wide range of languages, including Swedish, Danish, and Vietnamese, yet Thai is still not available. Thai-speaking users should have the option to use menus, settings, dialogs, and other interface elements in their native language.Adding Thai localization would make Photoshop more accessible to Thai users and would be a meaningful improvement to the overall user experience. Thai UI support is long overdue and should be added.

The floating ‘Generative Fill/Remove’ UI on Photoshop sits often in the middle of the screen and canvas. I constantly find it hovers over the exact area I want to see/click on. Is there a way to solve this?
Thanks to all who took part in our previous ‘Fixer Upper’ challenge. As always, there were many interpretations of the image and the brief. This week, we start out with a simple object. This Victorian pipe can be found in Adobe 3D assets. I made the wrap-around wood materials using Adobe Substance 3D Designer and then added them to the surface using Adobe Substance 3D Painter, before rendering in Blender 3D.So, now we have our starting image. What can you make with it?The “rules”:Use the starter image as at least part of your own image entry. Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright, etc. Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. This is not just for our forum “regulars”. The challenge is not limited to Photoshop. Any Adobe software can be used. There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off your skills, or bring a bit of humour and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!
I seem to remember that when you wanted to ‘SAVE AS' a PNG, you could do so in the first 'SAVE AS' window and it was there in a pull down menu option. But in recent years it required clicking on 'SAVE A COPY'. Doing so allows the PNG option to appear. But I often adjust the location/director/folder where I am saving first (it is at the top and I work down), when I click 'SAVE A COPY' it resets the file directory. Meaning I often don't notice, and it saves to the wrong folder and I can't find it. Could save to folder stay the same whilst you click ’SAVE A COPY’?
Using Photoshop 27.4.0, Mac Tahoe 26.4, using my computer when working in Photoshop. I used to be able to use Command H to hide the application as I worked between LR and Ps. That shortcut continues to work on my older computer, on my new laptop, but for some reason no longer works on my Mac Mini. The only way I can minimize it is to click on the yellow circle in top left corner. I’ve gone into Keyboard Shortcuts, to View > Extras which shows the Command symbol+H. How do I get the shortcut back the way I want it to work? Thanks in advance.
I upgraded to PS 26. I save my photos as JPEG. I have to repick JPEG every time because the program is defaulting to Photoshop as the file type. How do I change to JPEG as the default? Thanks.
I’m using very often Auto Color (Shift-Ctrl-B) as starting point, but this is destructive edit only.I would like to have “Auto” buton on Color Balance tool, same as is for Levels etc., so I could start with auto color and then continue with Color Balance editing nondestructively.
ssue summary:Photoshop 27.9.0 appears to automatically enable Proof Colors every time I open a new image. This causes the image on the main canvas to look significantly brighter, desaturated, and washed out.Steps to reproduce:Open Photoshop 27.9.0. Open any image file. The image opens looking washed out on the main canvas. The same image looks correct in macOS Preview and also looks correct in the Layers panel thumbnail. Go to View → Proof Colors and turn it off. The image immediately returns to the correct color and contrast. Open another image. Proof Colors appears to be enabled again automatically, and the new image is washed out until I turn Proof Colors off again.Expected result:Proof Colors should remain off unless I manually enable it, and newly opened images should display with their normal color and contrast.Actual result:Every newly opened image appears washed out because Proof Colors seems to be enabled automatically. Turning it off fixes the current image, but the issue rep
Hello Adobe Community and experts,I’ve recently encountered a severe and puzzling issue with text rendering and export in Photoshop 2025 and 2026, which was not present before.Text becomes noticeably blurry and pixelated, both in the preview window and in the final exported/saved files (Export/Save As). This occurs regardless of the document’s resolution being set to 300 PPI or 72 PPI.The most peculiar aspect is the difference in behavior based on document units:Documents created with Centimeters (CM) as the unit (e.g., from Print presets) exhibit perfectly clear and sharp text. However, documents created with Pixels (PX) as the unit suffer from this text blurriness and pixelation. This issue started occurring only very recently (within the last few days) and was not an issue with previously created pixel-based files in the same Photoshop versions.Troubleshooting Steps Attempted (That Did Not Resolve the Issue):I have already tried several common troubleshooting steps without success:Ch
