Do you have Keep Options selected with the paragraph. That can force a new paragraph to jump to a new column or page.

The font is shown the error message: "DFYuanHK W3" I did a search for that font name and found this page. It's an older font and probably doesn't allow creation of PDF. You can see the name of the creator on this page. If you could find the creator company you can get confirmation of this:

But if you get Default Folder, you're not dependent on the limitations of keeping track of file paths becasue Default Folder takes care of it.

You didn't tell us what operating system you're using. If you're on a Macintosh, the Default Folder utility is priceless for quickly selecting recent folders: It's kept up-to-date regularly and is one of my most used utilities: https://www.stclairsoft.com/DefaultFolderX/

@Mike Witherell & @Robert at ID-Tasker are correct. On fact, they didn't shut down the service, they waited a couple more months. You should have a copy of the files stored on your computer: Users > [yourname] > Creative Cloud Files [Macintosh location. Don't know the Windows location]

Most users problems with Sonoma is that they DON'T KEEP UIP WITH OS UPDATES. I know of no existing problems if you keep your OS up-to-date.

To set the default line weight, you must do it while NO DOCUMENT IS OPEN. Select the Line tool. Then go to the Control Panel and set the line weight to the desired value. When you create a new document, that will be be applied. This won't change the line weight of documents which have been saved with a particular line weight.

What kind of asset is it? What file format is it stored in? InDesign does not support all formats.

If you have Illustrator graphics, there's no reason to use Adobe Express at all. Just select the artwork, and drag it into the Libraries panel.

What is your definition of "realtime collaboration"? Is that the ability of two users to have the same file open at the same time and work on it simultaneously? That is not likely to be possible, but if you try using the new InDesign Cloud Document feature, two users can take turns working on the same file (but not simultaneously). This is a new (BUT STILL BETA) feature in InDesign 2024 version 19.4: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/cloud-documents.html

I agree with @Mike Witherell . In InDesign 19.4, the status bar also appears whether the Application Frame is open or closed. His suggestion of restoring your preferences likely will help you.

I'm not sure what your problem is. You say you can place an Illustrator-created asset in a CC Library into InDesign with Place Linked command. That is the way to do it, and it works. Why is Adobe Express being used in your workflow? It may be a limitation of Adobe Express (a relatively new Adobe product).

Why are you using PostScript files and Distiller? That's a decades old workflow, long since left behind. I can't think of a single advantage in that workflow. for several reasons.

Sonoma is perfectly fine if you are using InDesign 19.4 if you've updated to the latest version of Sonoma. That is currently 14.5.

@Will Is correct that embedding a lot of heavy images will balloon up the size. For cloud documents, there are workarounds. It requries that all users have access to the alternative storage locations for linking: (1) Put images in a CC Library and link to the library; (2) Link to Photoshop cloud documents; (3) Put assets in a particular cloud location that's shared (e.g.. I use Dropbox)

I agree with @rob day : SVG was developed for HTML and web uses. It's definitely NOT something to using in a print workflow.

There could be corruption in the file. Try saving the file as an IDML file (File > Save As > InDesign CS4 or Later [IDML]). Then reopen the IDML file. That can sometimes fix corruption.
