No, I could see the window, it just was missing the left side and the right side so I could see through them and where the selected image would be, it was just blank gray. I did try to look at settings when it opened into Photoshop, but the settings window was invisible when I opened it as well.

@Robert Ripps If you Import a raw file into LrC and edit in Develop, the settings are stored in the catalog. Any AI Masking or Removes are stored in the catalog folder with the .lrcat-data appended. If you choose to save from LrC to the .xmp sidecar file, the settings and AI masking/removes are all saved to the .xmp file, making it potentially large. If you then open the raw file in ACR, the .xmp file is read and settings applied to the photo. The AI masking/removes are written to a new file with the .acr extension and are removed from the .xmp file when Camera Raw is finished (Done or Open in Ps). The .xmp file is small again, but there is another sidecar file, the .acr file. If you then return to LrC and Read Metadata from File, if the .acr file is available, LrC will read it into the catalog along with the other settings from the .xmp file. Now that LrC has all the metadata it needs to continue editing, the .acr file is no longer of any use to LrC. If you rename the file in LrC, the .xmp file gets renamed, but the .acr file does not. Whether this changes one day, who knows, but as far as editing the renamed file in LrC is concerned, the .acr file can be deleted. ACR creates, writes to and reads from .acr files, which it uses to store AI generated data. If the .xmp file has this AI data saved to it by LrC, ACR will extract it from the .xmp file and save to a .acr file, making the .xmp file smaller. LrC only reads .acr files when Read Metadata from File is done and once read, it is no longer needed by LrC. If the .acr file was deleted before being read by LrC, AI Masks and Removes would be flagged as needing Updating, which could generate entirely different content than previously generated. Not good. From your workflow description, I understand: Import into LrC; apply Presets and some edits; save to .xmp; edit further in ACR; back to LrC and read metadata from .xmp (and .acr); and rename file (.acr is orphaned here). If you need to go back to ACR, you must save the settings again to .xmp. ACR will read that and create a new .acr file if needed. The orphaned .acr is no longer needed by LrC or ACR, so can be deleted. I hope this helps.

Would be great if this ability also existed when using the masking panel for adjustments…

"why is that only affecting JPG (and PNG as i noticed right now)? i don´t think i have ever noticed this behavior with my TIFF files." The Photoshop beta content credentials is only implemented for JPEG and PNG currently. I assume it will be extended to other file formats eventually.

Yep, once gain Adobe does a half baked update, and breaks all rational workflow. When correcting thousands of files, you generally are working on Temp/Tint and exposure. You used to be able to Tab forward and Shift-Tab backward and move between these boxes. But no longer................seriously why do the constantly break this software. I will now also have to revert to 14.5 untill this is fixed. This is the adobe syndrome. To widen ther market they focus on dumbing down every aspect - so the non proffessional can be mind tricked. It is why C1 is gaining more market share with Pro's

Here we are almost 4 years later, and I am grateful for finding your post as I struggle to link my huge catalog on a new RAID to LRC. I was looking at the daunting task of linking each folder of 114K photos and then found your very important words that the new drive must have exactly the same name as the original. Magic - I did it and it worked. Thank you.

Often when doing portraits of people, I find that no matter how hard I try when shooting, afterwards the subject’s clothes are still a bit wrinkled, usually the men’s shirts. Would it be possible to smooth out fabric- namely bring up the shadows, and bring down the highlights, making the fabric look smoother? It would be similar to using the stamp tool, set to lighten, or darken, to even out tonality of clothing. Of course, it would have to be smart enough not to get rid of buttons or pockets and stitching. And if it could straighten shirts, mainly where they are pulled at the buttons, or gapped in the front…. This would be a huge help and save time retouching images for clients.

Greetings all,
Thank you for your fantastic feedback on this Primary thread for the Early Access Lens Blur feature. Effective with the May 21st release of all the Photography products, this feature is no longer early access. We’ve improved the UI and updated the Lens Blur accuracy in this update. Please install the latest update for your Camera Raw/Lightroom client and enjoy the feature now as general access. Going forward, please report bugs, feature requests, and discussions via normal forum posts. This thread is now closed.

I looking in the forum once again to see if anyone was having this issue, I found this post from 2022: “I had the same issue. My Catalog Settings were all set up for XMP data to be automatically written, however, for some reason, it was not creating the XMP sidecar files. I solved this by clicking on the name plate, and then pausing and unpausing the "saving xmp" option that is available. As soon as I did that, xmp files were once again being created, even though i had never paused the function. It appears there might be a bug somewhere in the recent update.“ As soon as I looked, I saw that save to XMP was indeed “paused” , and once I clicked, LRC started to save all the changes I have made to files. To further test, I again imported an image, and this time LRC did indeed create the desired XMP file right away, with no need for saving. I then made a change to the file’s metadata, and again, LRC saved the changes automatically as desired. Never would have thought to click in that area, to solve the problem! Strange that a “setting” that was not in Preferences could override a something clearly set in Preferences, but there you go…

When I upgraded to macOS Ventura from a much older version, the whole feel of the save dialog boxes changed from horizontal to a more vertical format. This change seems to have carried over to Lightroom Classic (12.4) as well
If I select some files in grid view, then click Command +S to save, I see old, horizontal dialog box, with option to overwrite settings, which obviously I do not want to do. If I dismiss it, then click on up arrow on an image, I get the new vertical style dialog box. I do not want to use the first choice, as again, I want the image to display/keep the changes I made in the ACR window, so I would click Import Settings from Disk.
I wish there was a way to set Lightroom to always import settings, as I can’t remember ever wanting to lose work I did in the raw window, and I am afraid I will accidentally hit Enter, or click the top choice, losing all the work I will have done to potentially hundreds of files. I wish there was a way to never see this dialog box, and ALWAYS Overwrite setting (similar to how I can select Don’t show again in other dialog box).

"I am not sure if it ever was different, except if I turn off that option." I don't recall ever seeing or hearing that LR treated Iphones differently than memory cards or disks. In general, when any such device is newly mounted by the operating system, LR has always opened the Import window when you've enabled the option Show Import Dialog When A Memory Card Is Detected.

Here’s an idea for a useful feature in a future version of Lightroom Classic- allow a contextual click on an image (or thumbnail) to copy the image file name. So the pop up window would display the option to copy the file name to the clipboard. And maybe even better, add a key command to do the same thing.
I can’t tell you how many times I have to select an image, use Command + R to find original, then click on it, then hit enter, then Command + C just to get the file name into the clipboard- would be in the thousands!
Yes, I know I can go to the Metadata tab in the sidebar, open it, select File Name field, and copy that, but also being able to do it in one step would be a time saver. Thanks.

I would at least add the base keyword to Lightroom before deleting the heirarchy. You can always build a heirarchy again at any time. The keywords in Bridge should match Lightroom, but it's possible that something happened along the way that put them out of sync.

It's likely a bug in the older Lightroom version you are using that got fixed in the mean time.

Sorry, I thought I posted this the other day- Yesterday I fixed all the broken action steps. I used Photoshop to run another batch action. Did some more batches today. Quit it. Later in day I had to restarted the computer. Now I launched Photoshop, and see one of the broken action steps is again broken, wanting me to save an image to the trash. A few minutes later, trash destination has turned into not found… I again fixed the broken step. If I change the name of the image drive to something different, then I assume all of my actions with a Save step will cease to work properly. Thanks.

If the files in the June 1, 2021 catalog backup file have been edited, but not changed since that date then there's no harm in doing as I suggested. Using that catalog archive file you will add a keyword to all of the files in each collection with the collection name. Then use CTRL + S to save the added keywords and Develop data to XMP. You can then open your current working catalog and use the Filter bar to search by each catalog name for the associated files. Then drag and drop them into the empty collection. Repeat for each collection that has missing photos. Does that make sense?

The only workaround that seemed to work was exporting everything as jpegs, reimporting them back into Lightroom, restating Lightroom, and then slideshow exported without an issue. But it seems like one should not have to do this amount of work to make a professional grade piece of software achieve functionality that it is supposedly possesses…

OK, by unchecking "Reset sliders automatically" your settings will be retained but the Adjustment Brush and Gradient Tool share a common set of slider values and are not retained independently. I don't think they ever were independent in past incarnations of ACR. If you are often wanting to use the same settings then perhaps saving a few presets is your solution.

Also, I thought I posted this days ago, but apparently I can’t, as you are forcing me to select a topic below, but none apply.... and, to top that off, it still wouldn’t post, and gave me some weird error. But then when I tried again it worked, but deleted the previous sentance.

"when I add presets, Lightroom automatically puts them /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/ImportedSettings. /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/Settings seems to be where older ones I had in previous versions of LRC, My Presets, User Presets or new groups I have created..."
It is indeed very confusing -- as you observed the Import Profiles And Presets command puts the import presets in the ImportedSettings subfolder, while presets migrated from previous versions are in the Settings subfolder. On startup, LR will load presets from both folders.
'
I've never seen a rational justification for having two folders. (This "new" preset design introduced in LR 7 still has too many rough edges.)
