After Effects

Hi there, I discovered a really annoying bug that needs to adressed asap. When I create a Premiere project with Dynamic links in After Effects on a Windows machine and later on open the same project on a Mac, upon saving the After Effects project, it deletes itself. It vanished, literally. Example: I create and work on a project with multiple dynamic links on a windows machine. Later I open the same project on my MacBook, and right click the dynamic link > edit original. Change the composition in AE, hit save and boom! Gone.  When you close out AE you're in bad luck. It;s nowhere to be found. Workaround is to hit 'save as...'  I've read online multiple people running into this problem. This is a serious and known problem and needs to be fixed asap! 

Hello, I updated to AE 25.3 this morning and quickly realized that scrolling on the mouse would pan the composition window instead of zooming in and out of it as it has in past versions. I confirmed this by rolling back to version 25.2.2 and it restored the scroll as zoom. Was this intentional or a bug? Is there a way to switch this in the settings? Mac StudioM3 UltraSequoia 15.4.1

 I tried to export a video and when it got to the end it failed because it reached a composition. Then i went inside of that composition and tried to export it but it kept saying Connecting to Dynmaic Link server. My export settings are the default Match sorce - high bitrate settings and I don't really see any problem with the composition itself. 60fps 1920 x 1080

I'm trying to import a "psd" file with layers into Ae 2022. But it keeps giving me a "Bad Tracked Memory ID 23::33" error. And for what it seems, this error has been happening to many users since Jan 2022.Say, Adobe. What gives? Are you going to fix this?Or is time for me to lookup an Ae alternative?

Hey, I'm using generate > audio waveform. I'd really like the waveform to start about halfway into a flat line.  Is there a way to manipulate the waveform, or to draw a line and dictate where the waveform begins, so it flatlines at the beginning or end?  THanks!

 ExtendScript’s conditional operator resolves expressions in the wrong order. In the case of:true ? a : true ? b : c;I would expect it to return a, but ExtendScript actually returns b. This behavior is a major source of latent bugs in scripts. It urgently needs to be fixed. I first noticed this when injecting polyfills into legacy ExtendScript. Common minification plugins like terser convert if statements into ternary expressions. To avoid relying on polyfills, Adobe should either update ExtendScript to support at least ES2015 or fix this egregious bug.

I'm working with a customizable MOGRT created from an After Effects. The project contains multiple precomposed media placeholders (e.g., "media 01", "media 02", etc.), each precomp includes a solid layer with time remapping enabled. When opening various new Ae files, I seem to be unable to play the animation back more than once (after starting and stopping) without the stage turning blank and the programme becoming unresponsive. Ae has no 3rd party plug-ins, only overlord used. I have tried new files, old files and even kept them simple (creating a simple vector circle) and this still happens. Even tried older versions and a colleagues mac which is much more powerful and others have tried and get the same issue too. I have cleared caches and reset preferences. I feel like the issue could be to do with the Ae project settings perhaps?? Any ideas or help very welcome!

Hello I have a really critical problem: My After Effects Project just immediately being removed after quitting Ae. I lost everything I've done in the past several hours.Steps:1. Save everything in After Effects: The title bar does not have the "*" character. Everything is saved.2. Cmd+Q. Close After Effects. Done3. Back to Premiere Pro (which is openning and has linked comps) by Cmd+Tab.4. All linked comps are offline.5. Link media => browse to the project folder => the After Effects file is now lost.6. I have been frustrated with colors in After Effects. I imported a Photoshop file into After Effects and everything looks great. The colors are all washed out when I export the file from Media Encoder or inside After Effects. I have tried Quicktime and H.264. I have tried adjusting the color tab under the Project settings. If seems like nothing works. I was even at the Adobe Max conference and even the After Effects experts didn't seem to know how to fix it.

The latest version of After Effects seems to have broken the ability for deadline workers to launch AE. All workers immediately return with this error: Error: FailRenderException : After Effects returned non-zero error code: 132. Check the render log. if you take the "full command" and paste it into a terminal window, it launches just fine. I finally updated to the 25.3 versions after Adobe finally fixed the scopes bug introduced in 25.2. Happy to finally enjoy the new preview and HDR monitoring features, After Effects was working pretty good.BUT THEN..I go to export my video in media encoder as I always have. When it finally exports, it's completely blown out! All my settings are the same as before! Color management is still activated. Encoding presets are the same I always use! This is what it's supposed to look like: Oops, AFTER EFFECTS CRASHED when I tried to to drag AE to my non-HDR monitor to take a screenshot in it. I had to pull a preview screenshot from an email just to show it:I have tight deadlines and now I have to spend valuable time uninstalling these versions and re-installing the old working versions.This is absolute madness, why am I paying so much money for software that breaks something new on every update? Hi guys! Im really hoping that someone can help me understand why After Effects will not just leave my text files alone. I mainly edit "gaming" vidoes for youtubers and I do a lot with subtitles. So I add stroke, drop shadow, etc... BUT when I try to "replace with after effects composition" for the sake of tracking text to an in-game characters head using AE's motion tracker, it completely ruins how the text looks. The stroke gets skinnier and the drop shadow is completely gone! I've tried to look up why this is and the best thing I can find was about how AE interperates text files, and it doesn't share the same effects panel with PP.I need some way to protect the look of the text as it goes into AE, any ideas?

Hi. When I view my image in Photoshop, it looks ok. But when I import it into AE it looks totally different. What can I change in AE to fix this?P.S. I didn't change any of the settings in AE before this problem happened.

Since the update to 2025 I cannot drag-drop files into my project preview window (the empty space) anymore. This works fine on 2024. I thought this was a functionality, but turns out it is a bug.It happens when I start in Safe Mode. It also happens in Ae Beta. I had the problem in Ae Beta 2025 last year, I purposefully didn't upgrade to 2025 until I couldn't put it off anymore for work last month. Since then I cannot drag any kind of file into the project panel window. I also recorded this video in the #general-ae chat of the Adobe discord. NLE_Ninja (Kes) recommended I'd report this as a bug, as I was under the impression this was an intentional update (although I couldn't understand why). 

I have a layer, which has an expression applied to Position. The expression changes the Position value over time. What I am trying to do is access the value of Position as if it had no expression applied to it. The property("Position").value method doesn't work because it takes current Position value which is influenced by the expression. What I need is the original value. Is there any way to get that?
