After Effects

Hi, I few days ago I started to have problems with AE because it didn't open, it only send me and Error Window and them told me to send the information to adobe. I thought that it was because I didn't update to AE 2022, so I update the program, and now when I try to open AE it shows me 2 error, first said "After Effects Error: Error in progress. The last message recorded was: <17956> <APIP> <5> bdb925e8-9e38-4da1-b0bd-172e7a281a08. After this error, it shows me another one that said "After Effects can't continue: sorry, After Effects has crashed. For After Effects Help and Support, go to http: //www.adobe.com/go/learn_ae_support. If you still can't resolve the issue, please contact Adobe Technical Support (2). ( 0 : : 42 )"And then It freeze and I can't do nothing. Hello, Ive been using magic bullet looks plugin for years but all of a sudden it started crashing when i click Edit.. I can still use my presets but I cant configure them.I tried reinstalling After Effects ( tried different versions), reinstalled magic bullet looks several times, updated nvidia drivers,cleared cache... I'm running a .jsx script that creates a bunch of comps and footage automatically.I'm able to run the .jsx and it does what it does just fine. The .jsx creates a couple of comps and brings to the front one of two comps. I'm able to do some after action steps on one of the created comps "Camera01_3d" upto and including a execute menu command block "Trim Comp to Work Area". This is all great!`Where I'm having an issue is opening the second comp in the forefront of After Effects to run the execute menu command block on the second comp.How can I "open" the (second) ReCamera01_3d comp to run the menu command? I tried the select project items block, and select layer(s) block and neither of these brings the comp to the front.As always, any input is appreciated! 

The tracking software I use (Syntheyes) exports out .jsx files and creates scenes inside AE. It's great! With Automation Blocks, I'd love to run the script and do a bunch of repetitive tasks after it's imported and clean up the scene. Is there a way to launch a specific .jsx script from an animation block?

Hello all, What I've triedI've been working on a fairly heavy After Effects comp for a while.  I've got a video coming up that will use a bunch of animated graphs throughout, so I wanted to set up a comp that took CSV data and spat out an animated graph.  In hindsight, is AE the wrong tool?  Should I have used something else?  I don't know but anyhow: I've finally got a working comp that does everything I need.  Secretly I'm a little bit proud of it.  I can load a CSV file directly into AE, tie it into the data paths for the graph, tweak some controls and then it animated the data paths to the correct positions based on the CSV values.  It's heavy going, there's around 20 layers and over half of them are showing 100-200ms to evaluate when I use the snail icon. However...It won't render correctly. Which as you can imagine, is a fairly big spanner in the works.  I don't know why it won't render either.  The graph and the pa

Hi all,Am new to After Effects but have tried the below tutorial to create a wiggle effect for my artwork.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0JesMPdeIk&t=2s At first the adjustment layer was at the top of all other layers but I have decided it looks strange applied to the carrots so have rearranged so that it is sitting above the text layer only. The problem is now that my carrot illustrations still have the wiggle effect applied and I am not sure why. They don't animate anymore but still are wobbly from effect?   

I have a project with a lower third and a book mockup with some keyframed opacity and some shadows, which I've used multiple times. I've never had any issues with this setup until I recently changed the comp background colour to make it easier to see what I was working on. I'm under the impression that this background colour should not be visible in the final render, but any part of the lower third that has partial opacity (not 0 or 100%) will be changed to the background colour, still with opacity applied. So a grey/black shadow or fade will appear green if the background colour is set to green, and as an asset fades up, it will go from darker to brighter. This colour change is not visible in the composition window but is visible in Quicktime and when imported into Premiere Pro or After Effects.I've tried exporting from both After Effects 22.6.5 and 24.1.0The Render settings I have tried are:Field render: Off/Upper FieldAll other settings are default for "Best settings"The O

Hi thereThis is a general question about the code autofill (auto-closing brackets) When I go back to an equation that I am writing in an expression and want to add in brackets Made-up example:Original code  5+5*2   = 15New code desired result (5+5)*2 = 20 When I type the left bracket (, it automatically closes ()So in the case of the above I would get ()5+5*2 when trying to adjust and then have to delete or cut and paste a bracket.Is there some shortcut instruction that allows me to say highlight the section and "put it in brackets"or do I just need to decide if I turn off the autobrackets feature altogether etc. If there is no shortcut I'd probably turn it off automatically but if there is I'd rather do the more efficient way if there is one I don't know of.

I have updated both AE and C4D but the C4D importer in not working.  I have tried manually placing in the plug ins folder in AE but no go.Has anyone been able to fix this problem on  PC...? Cheers!  

Im trying to access the 2nd dropdown menu from Camera Lens Blur Effect Layer "ADBE Camera Lens Blur-0010"   My issue is that I am unable to access the second dropdown, the Source/Masks/Effects & Masks dropdown.  I am trying to automate a process and part of that is changing that dropdown to "Effects & Masks".   var lensBlurEffect = deviceScreenTrackLayer.property("Effects").addProperty("Camera Lens Blur"); var blurMapLayerProperty = lensBlurEffect.property("ADBE Camera Lens Blur-0010"); blurMapLayerProperty.setValue(1);   I am able to set the layer to index 1 but I am unable to change from "Source" to "Effects & Masks"   I just need to know if it is even possible.  Thank you in advance!  Best, - David 

For the past several weeks, I've been getting kernel panics when using After Effects and sometimes Premiere Pro. Not doing anything too intensive. Can anyone see something in here that indicates the issue? Hardware test passed. Crash report attached. Thanks!!!

I've been trying to sort this out for days, but I'm not sure why my stereoscopic VR files are creating really wacky OUTPUT compositions. I've tried out every tutorial on YT, and have been using this method of precoming the LEFT and RIGHT portions of the video separately, then creating 3D edits with the VR Comp Editor. Once I do that, I can orbit around and edit my footage with no issue. Note that the VR Comp Editor does not change though. I'm not given any new options to switch between the Edit and Output on the window itself. This is different from all tutorials I've seen. Finally, when I go to Output for a render, I get a comp that looks like this every time.I've tried many different methods, without precomping and whatnot. It ends up looking like this every single time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I’m trying to add 3D atmospheric light to an image, but the light isn’t moving. It stays fixed on the image. I’m planning to turn the image into a seamless loop. Could you help me figure this out?

I am working with many layers and want to edit a movement that includes several of them at once, and also have them move in the same interpolation as each other. How do I edit that in one move instead of editing each one individually? I know there a keys for only editing the Position (P), Opacity (T), etc, but what about more complex functions like something inside a Puppet effect? I am using the latest edition of AE on a Windows 11.

These kinds of animations look like they're digitally painted in 2D (like photoshop), then animated in After Effects layer by layer. But in the video below, notice the pink ribbons attached to the lady's forearms. They look like they were digitally painted, yet animated in a 3D fashion. Can After Effects achieve this? Hello, I am working on an old MacBook Pro 2015 with the currently available macOS for this hardware. My problem is that After Effects does not support Advanced 3D for my MacBook ("Advanced 3D is not supported by the current hardware"). I recently startet with after effects and quickly found out how komplex it is. Everyting went perfect untill i got to the diagram where you can change the speed and stuff ( I was editing a car video ). First the diagram was complety with the seconds on the side and then it completly changed out of nowhere : there where percent numbers on the side the line wich is suposed to change the speed is no longer changing the speed and there are two wierd lines wich are moving complety wierd up and down without any seable effect .does someone knows how to get it back to normal ?Thanks for help !

So, I've been trying to solve a problem for last 3 days, 3 different adobe support guys tried (with taking over the computer) wihtout solving it. Problem:When exporting a video via Adobe Media Encoder from After Effects, the sound has crackling / popping in certain places, not often that you notice it easily, but often enough to be not usable. Problem is only when AME is export from AE.* If I do the same thing in AME from hard drive file, there is no problem.* If I export from After Effects (in any format), there is no problem.What I've tried:* Updating AME* Using different project* Saving audio file in different versions* Precomping audio file* Everything I could think of in AE alone* Making comp longer 2-3 seconds and other suggetions of similar nature from adobe forums* Using few AME versions* Tried from AE CS6* Using wav instead of mp3* Switching from 48khz to 44 (both in AE and AME)* Trying with 16 bit 48khz* Bascially everything suggested from forums regarding wav/mp3/khz/bi

 can someone help me how to delete this "evalscript" folder? i found this folder when i want to collect files an after effect project. i can't delete this whole folder because of this "evalscript" thingy. When i clicked it, it said that the location is not available,. I've tried to forced delete these folder it said "error 0x80004005. I already restarted my laptop and it's still not working.

Hi,I’m looking for an expression that, applied to a text layer with a high tracking value (250 for example), will adjust che space between each couple of letters with a sinusoidal shape, with a zero value on left and right and the maximun value at the center. The width of the text box should be retained. It also would be nice to have a parameter to animate the “strength” like in the attached image, that is a simulation of the result I’m looking for. Thanks in advance

I'm finding this tool extremely helpful, but something that has been popping up is I can't seem to be able to save it's layout from session to session. It keeps defaulting back to it's original state. Any input would be appreciated.

Is there a way to access "Save Frame as ProEXR" from Automation Blocks?I'm looking to export a multilayered EXR with holdout mattes via the Render Que, and this functionality is not available there?If not, I'd love to petition Adobe to include this functionality into the render que so it can be used more widely. Adobe bought and implemented this fnord plugin back in 2019/2020 and hasn't really incorporated it into the main codebase.

Hello! I would like to have an expression on a Menu Dropdown controller, such that ifvar text = thisComp.layer("Verse").text.sourceText.value;has 1 lines of text, then the dropdown menu will be value 1, if it has 2 lines the menu will be value 2, and if the text has 3 lines it will be value 3. (The default vaule of the dropdown menu should be value 2.) Is there a way to do this, where you reference how many lines a text layer has with an expression? Thanks!
