After Effects

Hi,This is more of a question for Adobe directly, so I’m sorry if I‘ve posted this in the wrong place.When can we expect full support in after effects for 32bit linear workflow? Many of the stock effects and colour correction tools still only support 8 and 16bit.The advantages to comping in 32bit linear are tremendous, yet we haven’t been able to take full advantage of this because most of your tools don’t support it - and it’s been this way for many years. So I was wondering if there’s any intention to improve this in the software, or if I’m just wasting my time and should consider another application for compositing my images. One of our scripts in pipe would need to know what effects are being used in a scene and where those effects are located(.aex file). I'm creating a fully 3D animation in Blender, adding VFX elements in After Effects, and color grading in DaVinci Resolve. When renaming an Expression Control effect, an expression using the effect as a variable will not update to reflect the name change when the renamed effect is in an if...else statement AND the particular condition that contains the effect is not currently true. For example: 1. Create a layer in a comp.2. Create two Slider effects in the layer ("Slider_1" & "Slider_2").3. Create a simple expression in Slider_1 that references Slider_2 as a variable, such as: if (0 > 1) { n = 333 } else if (1 == 0) { n = effect("Slider_2")("Slider"); } else { n = 888 } n If I rename "Slider_2", the expression will not update the slider name.However, if I change the condition to true instead of false:  } else if (2 > 1) { ​ n = effect("Slider_2")("Slider"); } the slider WILL update the name correctly. Why won't the name update?Is this a bug? AFX v 24.1.0 - b78Windows 10Version 10.0.19045 Build 19045

Folgende Meldung kommt bei mir jedesmals, als ich versuche das Program zu öffnen. Habe ich alle Berechtigungen aus mein Benutzer Name im Lesen/Schreiben umgewandelt, alles aktualiziert, das program desinstaliert und nochmals instaliert und den Komputer mehrmals neu gestartet. Es geht trotzdem das programm nicht auf... ich bin verzweifelt. Es kommt immer die gleiche Meldung:"After Effects Warnung: Das Verzeichnis „/User/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/17.0/Original-Benutzerarbeitsbereiche“ konnte nicht erstellt werden. hey everyone i wanted to shuffle layers randomly in after effect. When I have Caps Lock active to prevent Ae from rendering while working, Ae forgets that it is pressed when switching Comps.Please make it work again (or bring another solution to stop rendering e.g. while copying/pasting expressions or keyframes).

Hi.Does anyone have any suggestions on how to more efficiently produce creative for simultaneous export across all main ratios (1x1, 16x9, 4x5 & 9x16). I currently start with a 1920x1920 comp with all Insta, Youtube etc safety cage overlay png's as the top layers. I then fill the whole canvas with, at the very least, a background colour solid.  Then I'll create the animation but obviously the layout, font sizes and position, and moving elements are more successful when the ratio is specifically designed for.  I have experimented with keeping all top-tier text and graphics contained within the 1x1 area but sometimes the 16x9 & 9x16 look too empty. I therefore duplicate the 1920x1920 comp, use the Resize script and then manually amend the whole thing - very time-consuming...  I have looked 'Smart Resize' from AeScripts but it only handles basic modification to logos and simple text. Is there an easier automated or semi-automated way? Thanks

The YT link below shows a Count-Up Timer tutorial I hope somebody in this forum can expand on because what I need to do is not covered in the tutuorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhDK12uvOBM  I need the timer to start at 1hour:30minutes:00seconds and then count-up to 1hour:37minutes:00seconds. What is the correct slider, keyframe, composition and/or expression edits needed so the clock counts up 7minutes and comes to a stop at 1hour:37minutes:00seconds? Firstly, i was having issues with a preset that included the transform effect. i then disabled the effect and it is now missing. how do i re install this effect?  

I just don't know what's going on, it seems it's something with some missing files, but I really don't know what's happening, it just won't load, it just crashes 

Heya. Am I able to modulate glow intensity based on values I have in a CSV file? I have a CSV file where I have the luminance value of each frame, and I want to be able to make the glow more intense when the frame is darker, and less intense when the frame is brighter.I would like AE to somehow reference the CSV file and change the glow property based on the frame number and the luminance level in the CSV. Is this possible? Thanks.

Hi guys! I've been trying to make some animations with the puppet pin, but the yellow dots that appear when I place a pin look insanely small on my 4k monitor. I attached a screenshot so you can see what I see on each monitor. Is there a way to increase the size of these or do people just embrace the squinting asian guy meme when using a 4k monitor?

Just curious if anyone has ever encountered this: you plug in headphones to your macbook m4 and you can hear internet audio and Adobe Premiere audio through your headphones but when you go into After Effects you can hear the sound playing through the computer speakers and not the headphones while all other audio goes through headphones. Just me? After Effects 25.0.1 (Build 2), Mac OS Sequoia 15.1.1yes ive definitely done a restart and shut down. this has persisted for a few days now. not sure when the issue started but couldnt have been that long ago since I recently bought this m4 macbook maybe 2 weeks ago

My project freezes everytime I try to render in v25. Opening the same project in v24 works no problem. Is this a known issue with an update coming to fix it?

Adobe After Effects had this roundness control for rounded rectangle shapes. It was a handy option to change the roundness to suit my needs, but now you can only change roundness while making the shape and then it is locked as soon as we leave the mouse click. Please bring back roundness control. Or please tell me if it is there in AE 2025. Everyone, Please share your thoughts too.

Hey,about 2-3 months ago, I noticed that the way the path tool works in shape layers and masks changed for the worse. When I draw masks nowadays, AE tries to change the paths between the points to even roundings (as you can see in the picture), and changing the roundness influences both sides of a point instead of giving the option of influencing the roundness of each side of the point individually.Before this change, when I drew the path, I could also just set the points without any roundness as a standard or hold while setting the point and then decide the roundness. Both aren't possible anymore.I'm using the latest version (24.6). This makes my work a lot harder. I hope someone can help me. 

When selecting the effects window, the program freezes and the computer stops responding to commands for 5 seconds

So in Adobe premiere you can see the percentage of what your speed ramping example(120 frames to 24 is 20%). If I interpolate footage to 23.976 from a 120 it's going to be in slow motion but how do I speed the footage back to 23.976 precisely in after effects it's really annoying and would love to know a fix to this. 

I'm using AE 2024 on Windows, and this bug has affected two of my files. I've tried changing the video rendering and effects, clearing the cache, and using hardware acceleration. I have also redownloaded everything and tested whether it was my plugins, yet it still happens. I am unable to go to another file because it crashes. I also am not able to close it regularly since it gives me a white screen.

Hi everyone - I'm trying to create double helix animation as in the attached image as an animation where the helix be two sided each side have it's own color . i tried to optimise my project but im not getting the same visual as the logo. (i used cc cylindre). Any advice would be appricated ‌‌. thanks

How do I make the preview button ONLY play normal speed from play head. NOTHING ELSE like speed upIm thinking like in a video editor Just play from where ever I set the play head ie scene 1 20 seconds in and just play normal speed.Not speed up, slow donw, jump to whereever it was playing before, skip to 45 seconds or a minute ahead, stop playing sound ahd basically doing its owh thing and not what I want please?It seems to get lines underneath the play button whihc looks to me liek an indicator or changign speed to double speed etc.Its driving me bat do  do and majorly slowing me down.Ie remove any short cuts, intitions, intiative, its own creativeitym etc wetcJust okay reguaklr speed from where I want or slowign down or speedign up as I slide the play head likign when editign video. (and with sound). ANd not turnign off the sound please
