Hi! I am fairly new to generative fill and it's uses. I am working for a firm who want to mask out a name tag in a 20 minute long interview. I have persevered with this for a week or so now but am experiencing unbelievably long analysing and render times - even when I try to do a minute or so at a time. I cant find anything online so was wondering if there is anything I can do about this or if it is just a long process.  My pc specs are:AMD Ryzen 9 7900X 12 core 4.7GHz32gb DDR4GeForce RTX 3060 would appreciate any and all help with this. Thanks 🙂

Hey! I'm currently using Illustrator to change three letters into different glyphs (per the brand guide). Is there a way to do that automatically inside After Effects? I'm assuming the answer is no, since After Effects doesn't even support glyphs natively, but maybe anyone found a workaround?Best,Finn

I'm using `seedRandom` to produce random position coordinates on a layer. I'm also using `holdTime` to only change position once every second. Is there a way to keep this function but also seed the randomization so that when applying the expression to other layers I can get the same random values?I don't think I can have them parented to the same null object or just in the same pre-comp because I need to apply different layer styles and masks to different layers but I'd still like for some of them to have the same randomized positions.Below is the current expression I'm using.`var holdTime = 1;seed = Math.floor(time/holdTime);seedRandom(seed,true);x = gaussRandom(0,1920);y = gaussRandom(0,1080);[x,y]` 

I need high res or animated images that support more color that is not an MP4. I remember a couple years ago in the media encoder and the render queue that it was an option to create an animated PNG.

I think I'm close to making this work but could use some help if anybody has experience with this. I got the expressions using chatgpt and when I paste them into the source text they initally show the current time correctly in the preview. I export out of Media Encoder I've tried several formats and players but it's not working. It just stays on the same time - the whole time. I’ve been using After Effects for a little while now, but have recently run into a strange issue. I’m attempting to animate an illustration I painted, but After Effects is having trouble importing the file. This has never been an issue before. It’s one PSD file with multiple layers. I created a composition, went to import the file, and it imported out of order (alphabetical) and the layers looked odd in the composition box. The even weirder part is that I don’t have “Photoshop Sequence” checked, so I’m not sure what’s causing this issue. I even went into the original file, numbered the layers in the order I want them to appear, and it still looks jumbled in the composition. For reference, I’m importing with Photoshop as the format, Import As Composition - Retain Layer Size, Editable Layer Styles.

I'm working on a project that's not very intensive but After Effects keeps closing itself while I'm working and logging me out of Adobe. Every 20 minutes or so I'll just get a popup like when you close without saving, prompting to save the project before closing. Then I save and it closes AE. Upon reopening AE, I am prompted to sign into my Adobe account again and I can get back into the project as normal.  I've been using AE for nearly 10 years and have never had this keep happening. Does anyone have any ideas or fixes? Some relevant info: - AE Version: 24.0.1 (Build 78)- Machine: Lenovo Legion 5 Slim- Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS w/Radeon 780M Graphics, 3.80 GHz- RAM: 32g - OS: Windows 11 Home, version 23H2- I also recently upgraded my RAM from 16gb to 32gb using Corsair RAM sticks with no immediate issues, and the other day tried to install a second SSD (4 TB) but it wasn't registering in the system, I switched around the stock SSD and the new one a couple times

When I export a project in After Effects through Media Encoder to a H.264 the colours are slightly mismatched? I’m matching up a shade of white by RGB and Hex values so I don’t see any reason why they’re being translated differently? Hex #F7F7F7 or RGB 247/247/247 I need to keep file size down so that’s why I’m using H.264 and I’m uploading to my personal website. I originally wanted to export as a transparent as I have a drop shadow on the edges of the video, but this isn’t possible exporting in H.264. So to get around this I’m making the video background the same colour as the background of the website, so once I upload the vid to the website the edges will be seamless. Here’s a link to the page. For a while now I've been having the issue that whenever I Copy a position keyframe(s) from one layer and Paste it onto another, AfterEffects won't register the Paste. If I Paste it onto the layer with the Transform menu closed, a round dot will appear on the timeline, indicating that the keyframe has been Pasted onto the layer. However, when I open the Transform menu the keyframe isn't there and the dot disappears. If I Paste it onto the layer with the Transform menu open, AfterEffects doesn't acknowledge the Paste, and weirder still the Scale and Rotation options in the Transform menu will highlight as if they've been selected.  I've been having this issue for a good year or two now. My AfterEffects is fully up to date and I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times, but the problem persists. No matter what I do I can't fix it and I can't find anything online about this specific problem.Does anyone know what's happening? I'm not hugely savvy with AfterEffects and I'm hop

Hi, is the GPU used at all for the "detail-preserving upscale" effect? I am using the effect and rendering an 8min file via the media encoder and GPU acceleration is also set, but the CPU is used 100% and the GPU runs at 5-10%. Takes about 2 hours...CPU: 5800xGPU: RTX40801) Is it normal for the effect to use the CPU?2) Are there any alternative upscaling methods that can be done via the GPU?

Hi dear people,I have issues with cineware in Ae. When I open the C4D-file in Ae, there is this process making extremely high memory numbers in the activity monitor. Even going way beyond the 100%. The process is called VTDecoderXPCService. After a while 'force quit' asks me to force something to quit, because the system is overloading.... I am able to stabilize memory when i turn off the view of the c4d-file in Ae, but this is obviously not a way to work... 😞 I have a 2022 Mac with M1 Max10 core cpu32 core GPU Memory: 64 GB I am using Ae 23.5.0 (build52) I see this person working very chill in AE with C4D, and his PC is not better than mine... https://youtu.be/8JH3W7GqOCQ Does anyone have any leads to how to fix this issue? Obviously I closed all programs that I am not currently using and have the resolution in the composition panel down to a quarter (of 4k). I would like to request an update regarding the auto-save feature in After Effects. Currently, when auto-save is enabled, older files are automatically overwritten and deleted. I suggest that the auto-save data be named with the date appended to it, creating auto-save versions for each working date.The purpose of the auto-save feature is to provide a backup of the work up to the point of a system crash and to allow for the restoration of data from several days ago for reference. By updating the auto-save versions with a specified frequency based on the date, it would address both purposes. I hope this request can be implemented. Thank you very much.

Everytime i open certain projects and try to pre-render and preview them my ae will just freeze and crash where its not pre-rendered, this has only started happening recently, help would be appreciated

Hello, i need a little help.  i created a layer with circle. i have added a repeator with 8 copies. i want those 8 circles to have alternate colour. like, 1st circle should have yellow colour , second circle should have green colour and again third circle should have the yellow colour like 1st one , again 4th circle should have green colour like 2nd circle one and go on same for remaining circle. how can i do that ? I tried using expression from chatgpt but it didn't help😫

Hi there,I recently encountered a new and unusual issue in After Effects (version 24.1). Here’s what happened:I performed rotoscoping on a footage clip of a subject’s hand to create a mask and separate it from the background. While everything appears fine within the composition, the problem arises during video export. The applied masked area is not visible in the exported video. Project setting:1920*1080 comp25 FPS Someone please address this issue ASAP, i need to deliver the project on urgent basis. I’ve attached a screenshot to illustrate the issue.

For example like thisvar TargetL = thisComp.layer("GradComp")[TargetL.width, TargetL.height]or so[thisComp.layer("GradComp").width, thisComp.layer("GradComp").height] When you write it for the first time, the application shows an errorTypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'width')But with the second version of writing, such an error does not occur...  What is the difference???

Hello, I'm an amateur in After Effects. I need help to align multiple callouts.I want all callouts to face the camera and align with X,Y and Z axis of the camera. I don't want the callouts to orient towards the camera.I found an expression (link below) where I can make all callouts face and orient with the camera. But I don't know how to disable the orientation and the expression don't always face (align) the X,Y and Z axis perfectly with camera.
