Is there a way to develop a script or action in IND to flow copy from MS word in to an IND template? 

I have a French document with lots of accented letters. I was trying to type those letters with accents on them, but I was unable to. I know how, I've done it in the past. I even looked it up online to get the correct keystrokes for the correct direction and accent. I get the accent and then the letter. InDesign is not allowing me to have the accent over the letter. Is this something that broke in CS5 and just needs to be fixed? Any ideas? I thought maybe this function was removed since now there is the handy Character Viewer at the top of the monitor. It is handy, but not convenient if you have a lot to type.

iMac 2017, Ventura 13.7.6, InDesign 2025Applying a small transparent caption frame over a full page greyscale image causes the whole image to lose contrast when transparency is applied.Also when applying drop shadow to an item on a spread, greyscale images on that page and adjacent page also lose contrast. These images do not contact the drop shadow item in any way.I cannot see any change to CMYK images.Is this a bug - any advice please?Phil in Welland, UK

Hello, everyone.For example, some specific textboxes have characters like "001-002@" "001-003@" or something like that.I want to use Grep to find them and then apply object styles to the textboxes they are in. Thank you very much.

There are too many different properties settings.I want to get a controlled, clean style with no overrides.Is there an easy way to do it in three or two lines? Thank you very  much.

I use InDesign Server to generate previews and materials from my application. I have two scripts, first one to generate a preview (jpeg with watermark added) and material (pdf with pdfpreset). I use the same template file and the same datasource csv for each action. When I generate material QR codes are correctly generated, but for preview instead of QR codes I get gray boxes see attached file). I have been seraching for a solution for hours. I've made this reflowable ebook in InDesig the same way I always do with a multi-level TOC and I've never had this error before.I have checked the code and all links in the TOC appear correctly labelled to correspond to tthe relevant ID markers on the relevant pages. I'm stuck, and my client's book needs to be published yesterday 🙂I tried Unchecking 'Page Navigation' as suggested on another thread but this made no difference.Can anyone help please?

Hi all, Had an issue pop up in the past few weeks that is driving me crazy. I have Application Frame on and ID filling my screen. When I enter presentation mode (Shift w) and then escape out, it scales my Application to a smaller size, like half of my window.Anyone know how to fix? Thanks! 

I created a QR code with a website URL inside of it, when I use my phone to scan it to see if it works, it doesn't do anything. But I scan another QR code with the same phone and app and it brings up the website from that other QR code.Any advice? Thanks.

Hi, please can you help me identify where I am going wrong in trying to export the cover for my EPUB? I have applied individual styles to each line of text as they have different font sizes. I applied export tags to the styles. I grouped the background, text boxes and photos as JPGs then exported as EPUB. My export settings include the following except for screenshot 5 (screenshot 5 is where I selected 'relative to text flow' on export rather than 'fixed'):  Export settings: Rasterize first page. Content / Order: Based on page layout. Object: Preserve appearance from layout. CSS size: Fixed, Layout: align centre. Export math objects as SVG. Include classes in HTML / generate CSS When I export, I get an error message saying  ‘appearance mismatch may occur when overlapping grouped objects are exported as JPG’. The images are not overlapping. I changed the photos to PNG but, unfortunately, that changes the look of the pics so the top two are zoomed out, which

Hello, I'm having trouble with my fonts in InDesign. I have the font installed on my laptop, but for some reason, it shows as unavailable. I have tried checking this out but still didnt work Resolve missing fonts issue in InDesign and InCopyPlease let me know what I can do, thanks 

I have Indesign .indd files going back nearly 20 years. I can open a .indb from 2007 and all the files are in place, when a file is opened the various stylesheets are present in their windows. Most of the fonts are dead, but that's recoverable. I just opened a .indd file from 2023 and got a splashscreen informing me that the file would be converted via Creative Cloud. When it finally opened it showed up in single page view instead of spreads, and had lost all the style names, all the placed image names. I aborted opening the 2023 .indb when it informed me I'd have to convert all the documents before it would open it.What is going on? And please do not tell me i should have saved everything as .idml : why would I NOT WANT my design details saved in the file?  I have the text in a Word doc.Besides which the 2007 .indd opens perfectly. Hi all, Been having a strange issue where when printing from indesign I get these uniform lines across a page, which doesn't happen when printing outside of indesign (i.e. exporting to pdf or jpeg and then printing those). The print from indesign is very simple, it's just one object/layer with no drop shadows or effects. I figure this surely must be caused by the print settings within indesign overruling the default print driver settings. 

InDesign // File set-up for CMYK/PrintI used to be able to choose vibrant colors from the InDesign Color Picker. Now, no matter what color I choose, it comes into InDesign dull. Once I'd see the color I like onscreen, I'd look at the official CMYK breakdown in my book and assign it the official color for the vendor.Is there anything I'm not doing for colors to be visible onscreen as a bright color? Is there a script available that will save an IDML each time I save an INDD file? If yes, does that script save over an exisitng IDML for that file (preferred) or does it create a new IDML file with an altered name each time I resave the INDD file? I saw a thread about a script that will save an INDD, IDML and PDF at the same time, but I don't need all of that.

Hi all, Recently I was working with Indesign to optimize images for a project and I was wondering if there's away to optimizing photo's in Indesign faster? This instead of converting each photo separately in photoshop.

Hi hoping you can help. First screenshot below is a page that’s giving me trouble in my epub and how it looks in Indesign. The text sits nicely above the photo as it should. There is no page break. Hidden characters showing. The second screenshot is how it looks in Kindle Previewer. Why is there the big white space between the paragraph above the pic and the photo? This has only happened to three of 20 photos in the design and I haven’t done anything differently with them. The problem photos are not locked, they’re not on Master page. Windows 10, ID ver. 20.4. I made an unpleasant discovery today. I’m working with a client who laid out a book in InDesign but didn’t feel like she could make the conversion to ePub. There are about 85 photographs in the book. I asked her to insert Alt Text for each of these in Bridge under IPTC Core/Alt Text (Accessibility). I checked each image under Object/Object Export Options in ID, and the Alt Text was there, under "From XMP:Alt Text (Accessibility)". So InDesign is picking up the tags. But when I exported the file to ePub and happened to check the html, I see that all the alt fields for these images are empty (alt=””). The images she worked on are the ones linked in InDesign, so it’s not that she was working on the wrong folder of images. She didn’t have an object style applied to the images and I thought that might be a factor. But when I created an object style, specified Alt Text Source as “From XMP: Alt Text (Accessibility)”, applied that to one of the photos, the object styl

Hello, I'm trying to create an interactive document using Indesign, I've tried to do it using Acrobat but there are limitations with Javascript when viewed on mobile so the interactive bit doesn't work, and viewing on mobile is a must for this project. Is it possible to create a text based entry field or dropdown box in InDesign and trigger an action like show a  text. For example, if I type 'fruit' in a text box or select 'fruit' in a dropdown, can I set this to show another text i.e. 'apple' on another box? I'm thinking if I can't achieve the above with an Interactive PDF then HTML via Indesign might be the answer TIA TIA

During an Indesign Application update, we run a scripts that will open an Indesign document and save it on the newest version of Indesign that we upgraded too. During this last update, we noticed that after converting some files, when opening them, they are being converted again to Indesign 20.0. When taking a look at the Adobe Indesign Component Information window, we are able to see that the version of the document is had already been changed to 20.0 which matches that of the Indesign Application but the application is still converting.  This does not happen all the time but does occur quite a bit. Any ideas on what can be causing this? 

Hi AllI hope someone can throw some light on why this is happening. I have done it so many times in the past but now it is not working.So, black image with transparent background. Saved as transparent grayscale tiff in photoshop. Import image into InDesign and apply colour from swatches but the image remains black. I know it should be changing as I have achieved this numerous times in the past. Driving me nuts! TIA ID v20.4.1, Intel Mac, Ventura.

The PT Serif Pro bold shortcut (shift+ctrl+b) does not work in indesign. The underline (shift+ctrl+u) and italic (shift+ctrl+i) shortcuts work fine. And in Illustrator with this font (PT Serif Pro) there is no such problem. All shortcuts work.The font is installed from Adobe Fonts. I reset all settings. I tried in 20.3 and 20.4. I even tried assigning shortcuts to other keys. Nothing worked.If the problem is in the font itself, why does the shortcut work in Illustrator?

My other thread was locked.   The source file creator of my novel (and life's work) has ghosted me, but I do have the source file.  Problem is, I don't know how to use Adobe, and importing/exporting it just creates a huge mess.  The fonts change, the designs disappear and the occasional intentional spacing between paragraphs has large "F" in their place.   My question is, I have consulted an Adobe expert who claims to be able to see it as it is in print.  This contradicts some comments in my previous thread that only the creator will have access to certain this.  The instructor also claims to be able to teach me everything I need to know in 40 mins.    Can someone advise me here?      <Title renamed by MOD>

I have a four chapter book (about 80 pages) and every time I try to sync styles InDesign crashes. It worked fine yesterday, but today I made some changes and now every time I click the sync button in the book menu (Synchronize styles and swatches with the Style Source); instant crash. I've tried with all the chapters open and saved, only the style source open, restarted, deleted and re-added the chapters, etc. Thoughts?
