InDesign

I'm experiencing a weird bug where every time I click an item in Indesign it moves position slightly.  1. Create a Rectangle.2. Set the position to x 20mm y 20mm.3. Click off to deselect it.4. Click to reselect it. The position measurements are no longer the same. Is anyone else experiencing this? It happens in the latest versions of Indesign 2024 and 2025. Snapping to grid guides and smart guides are all disabled. Illustrator works fine.

Problem 1: This is one of those things that either: 1) I have forgotten, or 2) keystrokes have changed or 3) preferences haven't been adjusted correctly. I have been using InDesign since its original launch way back when. I have just replaced my 27" iMac with a new 24" M4 version and updated InDesign which I use mainly for magazine layout. To scale pictures I used to use a combination of keystrokes (Option, shift I think but quite honestly I never even looked at the keyboard). This used to scale the picture and containing frame together down to the size I want. This does not work for me now and any combination of Command, Control, Option, Shift just results in the frame reducing and picture being cropped but remaining at the original size or a menu suddenly appearing.Problem 2: To clone an item I just clicked and dragged with appropriate selection tool. Now I have to wait until there's a slight 'jump' in the selected item (a lag as if to say "oh, you want to clone me - just wait a bit"

Hello,I’m experiencing an issue with InDesign 2025 on macOS Sequoia 15.1. After updating, I noticed that when importing PDF comments into InDesign, the text becomes unreadable or broken (characters are scrambled or misaligned). Everything works fine in Acrobat, but once imported into InDesign, the comments display incorrectly. I use English interface in Mac Os and Adobe and both Adobe Acrobat and InDesign are up to date.Prior to the update, everything worked correctly, and text from PDF comments displayed as expected. Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue? Has anyone else encountered something similar?

INDESIGN 2024 (19.5 X64) / HP ZBOOK / FILES SAVED ON SHAREPOINTDetails:Hyperlinks are disappearing from several InDesign documents. Some are updated files from last year and others were recently created.Shared hyperlinks is turned off on ALL hyperlinks.A character style is applied to the hyperlinks.The hyperlinks that disappear are active, working and confirmed in previously exported PDFs.We use a workflow with InCopy and I have noticed that sometimes the hyperlinks drop if edits are made to text in InCopy but this does not happen all the time. It also seems like there are specific hyperlinks across multiple documents that continue to drop, but it’s unclear why. The only way to recreate the hyperlink is by rekeying the content and then applying New Hyperlink. Otherwise, the option to create a hyperlink is not available in the Hyperlinks panel. After hyperlinks are fixed, the next time InDesign is opened some of the same hyperlinks are no longer in the hyperlinks panel OR other hyp

Hallo ihr, ich habe ein altes Programm (InDesign 2020) und dort ganz viele Einstellungen (Farben, Arbeitsbereiche, Druckprofile, Bibliotheken) angelegt. Jetzt habe ich eine Lizenz für die Creative Cloud und wollte bei der neuesten Version von InDesign meine alten EInstellungen importieren. Die nimmt er jedoch nicht. Ich kann die bei "Import der Benutzereinstellungen" nicht auswählen. Kann ich die einfach irgendwo abspeichern in den Ordnern und dann sind die automatisch drin? Wäre schade, wenn ich durch den Kauf eines neuesn Mac und somit auch einer neuen ID Version alles neu aufsetzen müsste 😞 LG Isabelle

ich habe folgende Aufgabenstellung und möchte diese so gut es geht automatisiert abarbeiten lassen.Die Aufgabe ist ein wenig umfangreicher und ich möchte von vorne weg alles richtig erstellen.Daher freue ich mich auf eure Anregungen und Wege zum Ziel.Es sollen 50 Stück Verpackungen erstellt werden diese sind z.B. in 5 verschiedene Kategorien eingeteilt, das Layout bzw. die Aufmachung ist immer dieselbe.Jeder Artikel hat ein anders Produktbild, verschiedne Piktogramme, mehrere Über- und Unterschriften, sowie einen Barcode der bei jeden Artikel unterschiedlich ist und eine unterschiedliche Grundfarbe je nach Produktlinie.Die Daten wären allen in der Adobe Bibliothek vorhanden, bzw. sind in einer Tabelle gespeichert.Für mich wäre es klasse wenn beim Erstellen der Dateien z.B. alle je Artikel alle Größen als Zeichenflächen in einen Dokument erscheinen.Gibt es bezüglich des EAN 13 bzw. der GTIN auch die Möglichkeit diese im InDesign automatisiert erstellen zu lassen?Eine einfach Lösung wäre

Hi everyone!I just downloaded InDesign!For my work i am making work-manuals kind of in LEGO-style. I render out 3D-images in an 3D program, then i edit those images out in PhotoShop and then my next step will be making a book in InDesign.First i did that all within PhotoShop, but the people there told me that PS is not really the tool for that, and that InDesign would make it a lot cleaner. So i already have a layout from my previous booklets, but now i have to make that whitin InDesign.This is the layout, does anyone maybe have an informational video on youtube? because i would not really know where to start looking? Or maybe its not that hard as it seems to me and does someone know how to make this within a few easy steps? Thanks already! -Nick

I'm using Alegreya.When I use the medium font, the pdf file exported is fine.When I use the regular font, the text that is in English is fine, but the text that is in Greek changes into dots while the numbers change into a different font altogeh

Specs: MacBook Pro – M4 Pro – Nov 2024 24 GB Memory 1 TB SSD     Please help!   My InDesign won’t launch! 😞 I bought my MacBook a couple of weeks back, so it’s brand new and I’ve just installed Creative Cloud and the various apps. Now it simply won’t launch InDesign. I’ have only opened it once, just for a quick view and it worked fine. And I haven’t worked on any projects, added plug-ins … so it’s totally new and crisp. So I really don’t understand it!?   I thought everything would run smoothly on a brand new Macbook! When importing a Word doc (MS Word 365 for Mac, El Capitan) into InDesign CC 2015, all of the spaces disappear - causing all of the text to run together.The spaces in the Word doc we start with look fine, but when we import (not copy and paste, but import) it into InDesign, the spaces aren’t included.Does anyone know why this happens and what we can do to stop it? Hi hoping to get some help on this. Attached is what im looking to do, but the catch is it has to be accessible and (so no tables, one text box, and flows as a screen reader might read it). This is on a long document too. I cant for the life of me figure out how to get it to work (not even sure if possible). Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Basically need an auto numbering which goes like:1.        (i)      Text start         (ii)      Text Start2.       (i)      Text Start         (ii)      Text Startetc. 

The Pen Tool in InDesign keeps snapping to a grid I did not activate. 1. Turned off Smart Guide2. Turned off Snap to Guide 3. Snap to Document Grid is Turned offStill, the pen tool kept snapping to some sort of grid (made sure by making approximated clicks, and sure enough got a square without pressing Shift). I solved it temporarily by changing the horizontal and vertical Units of the file to Picas (as mentioned in a post came across), but it is incredibly tedious to have to change the Units back and forth each time I use the pen tool. Please help if you can 😞 Thank you in advance.  

 So I am working on some final touches for a school project which is a interactive magazine and I have to include navaigation buttons Prev/Next and I created them but somehow it wasn't working so I tried again and now I can't get rid of them and start over cause none of this text is in any of my layers and I unlocked all my layers and I tried clicking on them to get rid of them and I got nowhere I don't know what to do so if anyone knows how to fix this please respond ASAP!  If you need furthur information I can provide a screen recording just let me know thanks so much in advance!  

It is possible this has been answered elsewhere, but I'm not even sure how to search for it. When I exported my epub, I was happy to see that my footnotes at the end of every chapter already included a link to return to the main text where the footnote was---it has duplicate numbering, but I'm not as concerned about that as I am about an issue with the formatting of these links back to the text. I don't know why, but some of them are showing up as bigger text with a paragraph return after them. I honestly can't see any difference in the way those footnotes were formatted. Do you think this is a styles issue? A footnote settings issue? Any thoughts? This formatting issue shows up in every one of the readers I'm using, by the way.

Hi, I am trying to export a reflowable epub from InDesign (CC2019).  When I upload it onto Draft2Digital's website it warned that it was encrypted. I contacted them and they sent me the following pic of the export options. There is a security tab. When I export the epub that security tab does not appear (see pics below). Oddly enough, few, if any, of the options are shared, so I don't know how he's exporting the file. How can I export an non-encrypted epub file? Any help would be appreciated. It has to be reflowable, I don't want a fixed epub. Thanks. Mark Mark

Hi, I have a file that contains a group of paragraph styles that I need to apply a condition to. Since InDesign  doesn't have the option to add a condition to a style, I am looking for a script that would find let's say 10 different paragraph styles and apply a condition to it. Does anyone know if this exists? The way I'm going about it now is to do a find/change for each style separately.Thank you!

I am thinking particulary about texte hexedecimal colour text box. As you can see on the pic I have a colour palette and I was wondering if there was a way or a plug-in which could automaticaly change my text box hexedecimal as i change my colour ? For example, if i change my "linen" to a red, let's say a #F00C07, is it possible for my text box which right now is #ECE4DB to change to #F00C07 automatically ? Tell me if i didn't make myself clear ! 🙂I am trying to optimise my work and my time, that's why i am asking ! Thanks a lot for all your answers in advance !

I have a monster file that includes hundreds of linked tables (this is not my choice, but I have to make it work!) Every time the tables files are updated it breaks the formatting and I have to manually change the table style back.  Is there any way to set the default table style in preferences or to select and change the table style with find/replace?  I can't find a way around imported tables being set to [No Table Style] or a way to set up a default table style for the whole document. I don't understand why we can't edit the [No Table Style] option like you can with default paragraph styles - Is there a script that might help?  I have more than one table style, but the majority of them need to be the same and this feels like a basic thing I should be able to set up. I would love it if there was something simple I was missing that would fix the issue!

The file is stored on a server that my colleagues also have access to.I would like to enable my colleagues to continue working on the file when I'm not available. They should be able to update the already generated review link as well. Currently, I receive the error message: "You cannot create or update the review link because you are not the owner of the review."How can I resolve this issue?Thank you in advance!

I was trying to sync Bai Jamjuree in indesign and it wasn't loading:https://fonts.adobe.com/fonts/bai-jamjuree I noticed that Mac has this as a system font:https://support.apple.com/en-us/120414 Could this possible be the reason the Adobe font wasn't syncing?  I tried deactivating/activating the system font but it still wouldn't sync. The Adobe font eventually synced while the system font was deactivated. I don't know if this was just a coincidence.  Will mac system fonts with the same name stop Adobe Fonts from syncing?  

My styles haven't any tagging and workflow is running smooth building a yearly >1000 pages catalog.Nevertheless I'm wondering if:- tagging paragraph styles would slow down any operations or increase the size of the documents?- tagging styles could be useful to make interactive documents?- tagging styles in such a way that they reflect company's database (let's say it has 5 levels...so using h1 for first, h2 for second ...etc.) can be a good practice in case I go for an interactive html5 output (such as with IN5's plugin)?- let me please add one more off-topic question (as it is CEOs or webmasters pertinent) : would rebuilding a corporate website benefit from adopting CSSstyles tagging that reflect database structure?Thanks

Using macbookair OS 14.6 and ID 20.0.1 I have already laid out a novel (600 pages) that is broken into 6 separate indd files that are linked with an indb file as a book. All the pages have text boxes that fill the page and flow from one to the next. Now I find out that I need to shift all the margins 1/8" toward the outside to make for a deeper gutter. The text box width will stay the same — just shift over. If I just set new margins in File > Document setup, the text boxes will remain in their original position. Is it possible to somehow have the text boxes automatically move to fit the new margins?
