Lately, I’ve been working on the ‘share to review’ concept within my design team. One of the questions that came to mind was whether it’s possible to export the comments posted in the indesign file in some way.Is there anyone here who knows a bit more about this?
Hi all! I’m working with InDesign files created using software that converts PDFs into InDesign files. I am having an issue that’s driving me crazy. Text is showing up lower than it should in the text boxes. I have made sure the Vertical Justification is set to “Top.” Baseline shift is 0. There is no inset spacing (all 0). The font is all the same size (I did “Command A” to be sure). What else would cause text to be lower than it should be in a text box? I’m out of ideas. Thank you!
I am assembling a quarterly magazine and just place an article as a Word document. The article laid in OK except for the footnote separator lines which are inconsistently spaced throughout the article. See attacment. I've worked with InDesign since 2002 and this is the first time I've worked with footnotes so I do not have a clue as to how I might fix this spacing issue. Can anyone tell me how to adjust spacing around footnote separator lines? Thanks to those who know more than me?Joe
I have CS5. I'm working on a multipage document in InDesign and I want to bring in a multipage PDF document into that InDesign document. For some reason, when I do File>Place, it brings in the first page of the PDF (with perfect formatting) but the other pages do not come in. Is there some other setting that I'm missing to capture all pages of the PDF to transfer into the same number of pages in my InDesign document?
I have an issue with InDesign. On my parent pages I have a text box which contains the marker 'current page number'. The numbers are viewing as expected up to page 99. When we get to page 100 and above, the third (last/units) number displays as non-lining when the rest are lining numerals. Why is this happening? Screen-shots attached. This only happens when using the typeface Newzald… and not if I replace that typeface with something like Minion. The para and char style both state tabular lining.
My InDesign has been running extremely slow and keeps showing the spinning wheel while working on files, since the last update of InDesign(late November), I am running this on my iMac with MacOS 14.7.2. Any ideas or recommendations to troubleshoot this, please. Is anyone else also having these issues? Would appreciate any thoughts and suggestions please. Thanks
Recently, I noticed that InDesign sometimes replaces certain ligatures (fl, fi) with other special characters. The problem is resolved by closing and reopening InDesign, but it can still cause serious errors if these incorrect characters go unnoticed.
I placed an SVG of a bar chart into an Indesign file, and Indesign is rasterizing the SVG rather than keeping it as a vector. When I export a relatively low-quality PDF for web viewing, this makes the chart look awful. What’s worse, Id is even clipping some of the bottom pixels from its own rasterization. I want this graphic to be vector, because that’s the only way it’s going to look decent--why is that so hard? PDF works great with vector graphics, so it makes no sense to me that Id would rasterize this.I made the SVG in Inkscape originally and further modified it in Illustrator. It is all paths and (outlined) text--no raster image anywhere in it. I have checked through my Export to PDF options for anything relevant, so I unchecked “Compress Text and Line Art” but that did nothing. Any advice much appreciated.
I work for a book publisher. We are a team of three, all working remotely. We are currently using InDesign 20.5.2 on Macs running Ventura 13.7.6. (Our Macs are older and won’t run the latest OS). Currently we connect to a file server via VPN. Management wants to shut down the server and move our files to Google Drive. I have concerns about this.My two co-workers are used to working on the server. I know some people say you should never work on the server, but they’ve been doing it for years and haven’t had any problems. What I need to know is if it’s possible to use Google Drive the way we use our server—open an InDesign file, work on it, save it. Make an .indb file, preflight, create a TOC, export to PDF, all that kind of stuff. I suspect that the answer is “no,” but I need to explain to management why it won’t work and propose an alternative. At my previous job I managed the transition from local server to Box and it worked flawlessly. I was able to set up Box so that it worked exactl
Hi, I am not sure how I set this up or what it is. Is this a good way to create consistent spacing between a caption and an image frame above? If so how do I adjust it? Thank you,Charlie
These steps are supposed to be tried only after the basic troubleshooting as mentioned on this help document has been performed.Once you have tried the steps shared in the above document, please try launching InDesign: Launch InDesign If it still doesn't work, please try the steps shared below: MAC users Testing in Safe Mode Booting the system in Safe Mode starts your system in a manner that it performs certain checks and prevents third party software/services from automatically loading or opening. Follow the help document to know how to boot the system into Safe Mode. If InDesign launches fine in the Safe mode, then there are some third-party services or applications like antivirus, plugins or web extensions which are conflicting with the launch of InDesign. You’ll have to disable them on your user account and then launch the app. 2. Testing in Root account The root user accoun
The document I am working with, the author wants spaces between the paragraphs, not indents. As a result, the book is getting too long and I was wondering if there’s any way of reducing the spacing between the paragraphs and still not losing the text alignment with the baseline.Kindly see the revised file...thank you so much again
Does anyone else have this issue? before the update, my file was working perfectly. Now, the same file freezes every time I open the paragraph style. I tried closing the app, restarting, and in a new file in InDesign and another in Illustrator! Any ideas what to do?
Hello, please look at this very short video that describes my problem.File is attached.Thank you very muchDaniel
Hello,I'd appreciate your expertise here, please.I have a 250-page book with two-page spreads. Some of the pages have an image, say, on the left side that bleeds Top, Left, Bottom and extends to the gutter. Problem: it bleeds into the gutter and onto the next page.My printer said my bleeds have to be the same on all sides, to trim the pages correctly, so I set my bleeds at 0.125" Top, Bottom, Inside, Outside.Problem: when I adjust images away from the gutter by a point or two, to potentially correct the bleeding over, they still bleed across. I should not have to do this, but it's a limitation of InDesign..Any suggestions, please?Thank you,D
Hi everyone,I’m running into a font issue and hoping someone here has seen this before.I have Freight Sans Pro installed on my computer, and in InDesign it appears in the font menu as Freight Sans Pro. However, when I check the font in the Adobe app / Adobe Fonts, it appears simply as Freight Sans. The problem came up when we sent a packaged file to a printer. They told us they couldn’t access the font because Freight Sans Pro is discontinued. On my system everything still works and displays normally, but on their end, they’re saying it’s a Type 1 font that Adobe no longer supports. So I’m trying to figure out: Why would InDesign still show Freight Sans Pro if Adobe now lists it as Freight Sans? For context: Font shows as Freight Sans Pro inside InDesign. Adobe Fonts / Creative Cloud shows Freight Sans. Printer says Freight Sans Pro is discontinued and unavailable on their end. Has anyone dealt with this rename/version mismatch before? Thanks!
They do not appear in my Creative Cloud files or among my cloud documents. Could you please help me locate or recover them? These documents are very important for my work, so I would really appreciate any help in locating them.
I'm not even sure if this is possible. I've been asked to create a newsletter template for others at my job to be able to edit themselves, with sections about new employees, upcoming events, workshops, etc. I can easily lay out the design with the content I was given, but I'm not sure how to go about creating reformattable sections that align with the variable length of the copy that would be changing weekly. They would like it to be designed to our brand standards rather than a simple text document. Not to mention, anyone else who would be editing and adding to these newsletters will have near zero experience with Adobe/ID and most likely only be editing it with Acrobat. They intend to add/remove photos and update copy (of which the length could be all over the place). Is this something I can even do?
Hi,I’ve created a third ebook for an author and she wants me to hyperlink her previous Apple Books that are mentioned. I can’t see a share button or anything that helps me do this. Any ideas? Google says use the share button but it’s not an option for me or the author. Not sure why. Thanks.
Bonjour,Depuis quelques temps, j’ai des problème d'affichage dans Indesign. Les caractères disparaissent au défilement de la page pour réapparaitre ensuite. Impossible de d'activer ou désactiver les performance GPU. Configuration windows NVIDEA Quadro T1000 3GB. Une nouvelle configuration peut-elle être envisagée ?
I’m using the font Nobel and trying to apply tabular lining to a numbered list, but the 1’s and 7’s are just not aligning. I saw one other question on here asking the same thing, but I’ve gone through the steps (mainly making sure kerning is Metric, not Optical), but it’s still not working. Would appreciate any help! :) Screenshots of how the numbers look right now, and my paragraph style settings:
I am using the latest version of Adobe InDesign which I believe is 21.2 and my operating system is Windows 11 latest version. I have a 200 page book (In three sections) and the client has asked for the top margin to be changed. I've done that but I now have 200 text frames that were exactly matching the margins but are now a few millimeters too tall. Is there a straightforward way to select all the pages and snap text frames to margins? Or do I have to do it manually, page by page?
Hi,Is there a way to transfer the Translator Pro Plugin that we purchased for one user that no longer in our company, to one of the existing Adobe user?We purchased the Translator Pro in exchange.adobe.com.Thank you,Allen5FDB
In InDesign 2026, when you go to use the new “Open PDF” option, all the images open as 72dpi and in RGB mode. Is there a way to change the preferences on the images so the PDF opens in InDesign with a higher dpi and in CMYK mode?
Is there an easier way to insert pages from one InDesign file to another InDesign file, rather than copy and paste? Is there a script for this? <Title renamed by moderator>
