InDesign

Since the latest update, randomly the flyout menus won't work. They don't flyout. When that happens, often the program freezes. When either of these things happen, I close the program and re-launch and things are back to normal until it happens again. Sometimes only 1 or 2 times during the day, but today it's happened 3 times.

Okay, I don't know if anyone else has this problem; however, I keep having it, and it's really annoying and frustrating because for some reason the Contextual Task Bar in Illustrator or InDesign keeps acting up by only moving in one place up and down not all over the screen like it should be and I've tried to save all my stuff, exit out, and reopen as well as turning it off in the Window section of both applications and nothing and I have no idea how to fix this so if anyone knows a permant solution to this please tell me cause I'm lost and I would really appericate it so much! Hello everyone,we got a pretty weird problem here at the office. A co-worker (who doesn't work here anymore, which might not be an important information, but at least she can't really help me out here) created a CC-Libraries folder containing all styles for paragraphs, textboxes and so on - containing placeholder content -  for a whole magazine-production. So when setting up a new layout, the layouter now just drags and drops elements out of the CC-library into the new layout and they then get filled with editorial contents. This worked fine with one production but now (that she's gone) I suddenly had the problem, that in some finalized layouts, when I open the file, some textboxes (or in some files only a few) with the little cloud-icon that originate in the cc-library-master would suddenly just be overwritten with the placeholder text of these text-box elements. This feature was installed without my knowing it. It slows down my workflow because it takes forever to do a conversion and the cancel button doesn't work. I've accidentally activated it about four times today. I want to turn it off/uninstall it, but the Adobe page describing the feature doesn't tell me how. It's a beta, so I should be able to opt out. Anyone know how?

Hello,I am trying to troubleshoot a "broken" indesign template. The numbering system is currently broken. It doesn't increment when new elements are added. And the existing content starts at X.9 and instead of X.1.  Is anything wrong apparent from the settings of the numbering?Thank you for your assistance.Charlie

I am working on the cover for my employer's next seasonal newsletter, and I am running into a problem with some graphics. They are on a transparent background, and I suspect that has everything to do with it, but I don't know how to solve the issue and I am hoping someone can help. Disclaimer: I am not really a graphic designer, I am a library assistant who makes a seasonal newsletter for their employer (LOL), so I apologize if this is an common, easy to solve issue - I have not run into it before today. I am tring to make the newsletter title font look like it's sitting in some freshly-fallen snow, so I have all these white graphics that look like small piles of snow, and I am using them to create a 3-D effect on a white background by layering them on top of my font, along the bottom edge. I also have some light blue graphics that are meant to look like ice, and they are set on top of the title font across the top, to look like hanging icicles. It all looks great in Indesign

I've done this before, but it always feels a bit slow. It seems to take a long time.I need to first check if the myDat group exists, then verify if it contains the dat1@A@B@C style.If the myDat group doesn't exist or the dat1@A@B@C style is absent, create them.If they exist, read the values of A, B, and C into temp1, temp2, and temp3 respectively.Of course, A, B, and C are variables—I'll assign values to them in other ways.Thanks.

Hi, I tried to find a specific color. In my case a Pantone color. But there were no objects in the document with that color, so it was not possible to use “Find Color.” I had to remove “style by style” to find out what format this color has.  Is there a better and faster way to find such "hidden" colors? Thanks!mycc Indesign, Windows 11, latest versions

Hi, I am ready to jump out a window with this one. I have an object style applied to two text frames (image attached), which applies a stroke and shading, auto-size, fixed width. One style is for a single column, one is for a double column. I can't apply these attributes in the paragraph styles, because in the double column, it treats the text as two single columns, and doesn't apply shading and a stroke in the gutter.However, I can't offset the bottom stroke in the object style, which means the shading in that style projects below it. Adjusting inset spacing in the object style has no effect. I'm an experienced ID user, but not an expert. This has me absolutely stumped. And frankly, close to tears with frustration. Any ideas?

why are the lines not even when splitting the paragraph?? 

I have two questions regarding paragraph styles for my article i'm working onFirst, how can I get a line between columns as a paragraph style? second, how can I get a line across the entire paragraph (that was split into 2)  - when I try line below it only goes on the second side - how can I get a stlye that will give it to me across the entire thing?

Cela vas nous prendre 1 semaine tout refaire les produits en français et anglais.Lorsque que nous avons importer on nous demandais la cellule (ex: M168) Maintenant on nous demande (ex:A1:B@40290). Je ne sais pas quoi faire ou prendre la bonne information. merci  

how do i get each paragraph to be split into 2?

Es handelt sich um die Datei für einen Buchumschlag. Sie ist in Indesign v 20 erstellt. Nach dem Öffnen in Indesign v 21 sind die verknüpften Bilddateien nicht mehr dieselben. Außerdem fehlt der Anschnitt.Gibt es eine Möglichkeit, v20 zusätzlich zu v21 zu installieren?

Hello everyone! I’m having an issue with Adobe InDesign — my files keep getting corrupted, and I haven’t been able to recover them. Has anyone experienced this before or knows an effective way to fix or recover corrupted InDesign files? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I’m trying to display mongolian script in Indesign correctly. The writing is displayed differently in Word and Indesign (see image below), while the same font is being used: “Mongolian Baiti”. Using a different font, such as “Mongolian BaiZheng Pua” results in the same differences between Word and Indesign. The same happens on other computers at my workplace, and my publisher’s computer. The author has stated the the writing in Word is correct, while the one in Indesign is not.Can anyone tell me how to display the Mongolian script correctly in Indesign?

I’m writing a plug-in for InDesign, but I keep losing my JS code changes when I close the tool or ID crashes.But in the editor, the code is marked as dirty when I make changes; and then that’s cleared when I “save” it. But if I look at the JS file on disk (using the dev tool’s “Open folder” command), it doesn’t reflect my changes. There’s no “show in Explorer” option in the context menu in the left pane of the UXP tool, and “Copy link address” doesn’t work; it just copies the filename, not the path. And the “Filesystem” tab is useless: It contains nothing, and the “add folder to workspace” button does nothing. So… are people just using some other tool and still littering their code with alerts to debug?

Not sure how this is happening but any placed images come in at half their actual size. JPGs exported from PSD 72dpi...

how can i get more spacing around the drop cap?  

I have a 200+ page document I've been formatting only to discover that I cannot apply my parent pages to selected pages. I have multiple authors who need specific header names on their works, and I do not want to click and drag the parent pages 100 times 😞 The bottom of the file does allow me to right click and apply parent to selected pages, but the top does not. It doesn't have an option to apply to selected pages anymore, and it only applies to the entire document, like so:
