InDesign

Currently on a mac running Tahoe 26.0.1. I'm having freezing issues for InDesign version 21.0.1 and 20.5.1. I've restarted my compture, uninstalled/reinstalled, cleared the cache upwards of 50 times. It'll occassionally work and then get stuck in an endless loop of being frozen forcing me to Force Quit.   This is supremely frustrating as I use InDesign primarily for 99% of all my projects. This issue has been ongoing for weeks.  HELP!   <Title renamed by MOD>

Depois que atualizei o INDD para a versão mais recente o desfazer parou de funcionar propriamenteSe voce fizer 10 ações ele some com as primeiras na aba historico e ficam só as 4 ultimas mais ou menos, só da para desfazer 4 açõesJa apaguei cache, remontei o cache, reinstalei e nada resolveuEu tenho 32 de ram, então não deve ser por causa de pouca memoria, mesmo porque até então funcionava muito bemAlguem tem alguma luz?  Hi, I'm a Mac OS 15.6.1  user. I updated to Indesign 21.0 this morning. When I opened a file and tried to move the InDesign program to another extended monitor, the mouse didn’t work in the red area shown in the attached image. It’s not just me—my colleague is experiencing the same issue. We downgraded back to version 20.5 , and now everything works fine. I’d like to know if this is a program bug or if it’s just an issue on our end, and how we can fix it.     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hello, I don't know if anyone is experiencing this but when I go to ungroup items, it deselects everything. This started happening when I updated to 2026. Anyone else notice this? Please let me know how to fix this so I can sleep at night.<Title renamed by MOD>

I have used InDesign for many years, and, to create a dashed line around an object, I have always gone to the stroke palette, entered the number I wanted the dashes to be spaced by, clicked enter, and had it changed.  Took about a second.  Now that space to enter the numbers is missing and it appears Adobe thinks I want to save that stroke as a style, go into yet another palette, play with some ruler, etc., etc., etc.  I can't believe they really chose to add so much extra work to something that was literally almost an after thought.  Does anyone know of a way to get those boxes back?  I use them all of the time and seriously don't want to have to waste my time creating a "style" that is not needed.  Each time I need a dashed line, it is custom for the particular item I am working on.  I am working on a PC in the latest ID.  Thanks for any help.GS

Are NVIDIA cards not compatible with adobe indesign? and if so, what is the reason that indesign can't see my card?

I'm at my wit's end with this book I'm working on. The author kept on checking the spaces between words and I already told him that because of the justification settings it will never be 100% equal in the entire book. With that being said, maybe someone can help me check if there's anything else I can do with this book. Maybe a tip on a good justification settings? right now, this is mine. (attached below.) I also attached the latest pdf of the book i'm working on.

I want to open my converted idml files from work and open them at home, it gets to 33% but then i keep getting an error message saying The IDML file conversion service is unavailable please try later, any idea when this service will be up and running again!

I am looking for a way to integrate a DAM application with InDesign such that I can use DAM assets in InDesign Documents. The challenge is that once the image is dropped into an InDesign file, we cannot track the image from DAM Prospect requirementsAbility track what all images that are used in InDesign files and trace /link them back to DAMAbility to notify users when new versions of images are created in DAMAbility to identify all files used by a specific image Is this possible through any plugin? Is there any way that we can notify that the used image has been updated or removed from DAM?

Bonjour,Depuis quelques jours je n'arrive plus à ouvrir les fichiers .indd depuis l'Explorateur Windows car ils ne sont pas associés avec la version 2025 d'InDesign (alors que ça a déjà fonctionné avant - j'ai la version 2025 depuis sa publication et ces fichiers ont été enregistrés avec).Un clic sur le fichier .indd ouvre InDesign 2024, mais le fichier étant enregistré avec la version 2025, Adobe me propose de mettre à jour mon logiciel (ce qui n'aboutit pas car le logiciel est déjà à jour).J'ai aussi essayé d'associer les fichiers .indd via les paramètres de Windows (j'ai Windows 11 professional) et via "ouvrir avec", mais je n'arrive pas à sélectionner la version 2025 d'InDesign : je trouve bien le fichier dans  C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign 2025\InDesign.exe, mais il ne se met pas dans la liste des logiciels disponibles pour l'association au fichier. Pouvez-vous m'aider ? I'm having the same issue as many others: when making any changes to text within a text box, like typing within it, cutting/pasteing, editing, etc. the text disappears. Sometimes it'll come back if I click out of the text box. Sometimes it comes back if I switch between normal and preview mode. It doesn't happen every time, but often enough to be incredibly annoying. I'm running:Mac OS 12.0.1Macbook Air M1 2020InDesign 17.0.1

I want to try out generating an image through C++. Do we have access to text to image feature through the C++ sdk?

How do you create global variables in a C++ plugin?

MacBook Pro M2 Max Chip 64GB memory, Sonoma, INDD v20.4.1Packaging files stops. The status indicator keeps circling and packaging process does not seem to finish. This began yesterday and has happened when attempting to package different files. The “Saving the Document” status bar is at ~10%. When I look at the background tasks it indicates the exporting the file is at 90 or 95% and exporting the PDF is queued. When I go to “Force Quit” applications sometimes InDesign looks fine, other times it is “not responding. Cancelling doesn’t work. I get impatient after a few minutes and end up force quitting INDD.When I look to see where I put the packaged folder. It’s there and everything is in the folder with the exception of the IDML file, sometimes the PDF isn’t there either. I've tried many times in the last 18 hours.OK – so then I try packaging without the IDML file and INDD locks up. Package Document status bar at the ~20% – status indicator (blue circle thingy) not visible in tool bar.

Hi everyone,I’m dealing with a big issue and I’ve tried everything I can think of. Whenever I try to open an InDesign file, the program freezes immediately. I can’t edit anything, and at the bottom it just says  Checking, but it never changes or progresses.I’ve already deleted the cache, removed all related InDesign folders, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and even tried installing different versions. Nothing has worked - every time I open the file, it gets stuck on Checking.Does anyone have any advice? I’m losing my mind over this.

I  have a 7 book series that all are identical in styles and have quite complicated TOC's and StylesIs a book file an option to maintain and keep consistent all the styles, better than just updating one file and loading the style to the others (I don't know how anything about Book files)I still need seperate cover pages/TOC's/page numbers etc. for all 7 seperate books, they are to be printed as completely seperate books.Thanks in advance for your time & patience

I am TRYING to create an editable PDF business card template (png attached) for users with Reader. And as seen elsewhere I cannot install Reader with Pro installed. After I can get one to work, I need to create a sheet of 10 business cards where entering the text into one card enters them in all the cards. I have assigned text fields to all text that should be editable. Multiple issues when trying to export  a pdf in various formats:1. When trying to make an interactive PDF, the text in the ID text fields disappears in the pdf2. Individual text fields become merged upon export in a regular PDF Is there a SIMPLE way to accomplish this? If only Acrobat was as intuitive as ID. I am a simple graphic designer and not a programmer. I can follow detailed instructions. Trying to do this so reminds me of Macromedia Director and Articulate 360. You follow step-by-step and it still doesn't work! 😞 Thanks  

I have an InDesign document that includes vector graphics built in Illustrator and imported as .ai files . They have been given them alternate text in the object export option.  When I export the file as a PDF, the graphics are not labeled at all. They show up as figure pathpathpath ect... and the alt tag and pdf tag is missing. Do I have to re-import all the .ai files as images? It is important that the alt tag is there for accessibility. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

What could be causing this? No matter what I've tried, this footnote will not show up at the foot of the page (see screenshot). I deleted the note and made it again. It's still wrong. Something about it being a footnote in that header. Is there a setting somewhere that makes this happen? I tested it out with other headers in my book using the same style and as soon as I add a footnote, it's placed right below the header:

Hi,For years I have been work with CS 5.5 - my laptop died and I tried to install but the verification servers won't let me re-install so I bought a Creative Cloud liscence. Now I can't open my old CS 5.5 InDesign Files. Is there a plugin that will allow me open them and save them as CC 2022 files?

Hi all! I'm sure there is a way to do this, but when I search, I'm not wording it right. Hopefully I can ask my question clearly. Take a look at the screenshot I'm attaching. I create pages and pages of these types of reports. It's not a table... it's text with tabs. Currently, I have Paragraph Styles to create the header, middle section and footer of each section. But... I'm wondering if there is a way to tell InDesign to automatically bold the first line and add a line above the last line. How would I go about doing this? I swear I saw it done in a tutorial years ago, but I can't figure it out. Thank you! 

I am planning to edit a Journal which will comprise about 40 professional articles from 40 different authors. I have seen intructions sent out which are basically MS Word focussed.But I know importing many articles from different authors into InDesign can be a nightmare.Paragraph and Character Styles will be lost, Footnotes are not in the same character style, Quoyes are not indented and so on.Therefore I plan to send them guidelines on working with MS Word. I suggest the following:I will create a MS Word template.I will remove all the styles.I will introduce custom styles like Heading, Sub Heading, Body, Quote, Author Name, Author Designation.The Authors should strictly follow these styles.Will this make sense?  

I would like to select text in several places at the same time ie:Text 1Text 2Text 3And on each of these lines I want to place the cursor to add some text at one time. Something like this exists in visual studio code. How to do it? Below is a video explaining what I mean.
