I wanted your thoughts on if this was normal when printing a document through a third party printer. I have been told its normal and moire but I have never seen anything quite like this. Looks more like printing that hasn't gone right, really jagged tones. This was sent as specifited as a print ready PDF. All images are 300ppi and no compression etc. Is this normal in offset printing?
indesign fonts are now empty, how to retrieve, please help?
This is my first time using InDesign 2025 (20.0.1). After the initial launch, I noticed the CPU usage stays at 20% or higher all the time, regardless of whether it's idle, minimized, or in use. This issue doesn't occur with Illustrator 2025 (29.1) or Photoshop 2025 (26.2). Why is this happening? My laptop is Lenovo Legion i7 Pro, i9-13900HX, RTX-4080, 32GB RAM, running Windows 11 Home Version 24H2.
Hi All, I'm trying to format a text document that has a lot of inexplicable white spaces breaking up paragraphs when there is plenty of white space left on the page to accommodate text. I've turned on Hidden Characters and there weren't any extra paragraph breaks; tried various "Keep" options, but removing them leaves me with widows and orphans and sends all of my anchored images into a tizzy; checked the space before and after paragraph but it's set to 0. I'm at a loss and this is due on Wednesday. Any help you can give me, I'd appreciate it!I should mention I'm pretty much a novice with InDesign and largely self-taught through YouTube, so forgive me if the answer is obvious.
Is it possible to select all cells of a certain width of 130pt and change to a width of 145pt using a script
Hello everyone,When using InDesign 2021, Overprint Preview is turned on by default whenever I open or create a new document. All those boxes are really annoying! How do I turn it off as the default view so I have a nice, clean palette to work on?
Hi form, this is my first atempt to create a document using UXP plugin. From the code below the document is creating 6 Pager document with size 100x210mm and with 3mm bleeds as described in the "documentPreferences"However I'm not able to set "marginPreferences" as 5mm. The ocde runs well without errors but margins 15mm (which I guess taken from default parameters - I see 15mm margins in the file > new Window)Could you mabe give me some suggestions?const { entrypoints } = require("uxp"); const { app } = require("indesign"); //const indesign = require("indesign"); entrypoints.setup({ panels: { showPanel: { show({node} = {}) { document.getElementById("btnCreateTrifold").addEventListener("click", () => { const doc = app.documents.add({ marginPreferences: { top: "5mm", left: "5mm", bottom: "5mm", right: "5mm" }, doc
Hi there I'm creating a calendar for our town businesses in InDesign. A4 that folds up to A3. I am finding it impossible to workout how to present the top and bottom pages together, like how InDesign pairs pages side by side in facing view. How can I do this? AI is less than useless Thank you
Why would 4.3.4 move to the second column instead of continuing below the previous text?thanks for any help.
How to obtain the IPanelControlData or IControlView of the main window?I'm not sure what the official name is,but is it called the application window or the main window.
I need to reinstall a purchased InDesign CS4 On an operating system 10.15 Catalina (Mac) I need to know where to access the older driver for this and also if I can run this on CatalinaAnd if I cannot run this on Catalina what are my options aside from downgrading my computer? When I generate an Index, anywhere there are italics, the Index puts <i> and </i> around the text. For example:HMCS <i>Crescent</i> 336HMCS <i>Crusader</i> 290HMCS <i>Discovery</i> 3HMCS <i>Fraser</i> 2 Is there a way to make those items in actual italics?
Hello, I have a client who needs to proof the book as spreads. I have set the anthology up as an Book (.indb) with individual files, and when I export the entire book, the resulting PDF is in spreads as desired EXCEPT when a file ends on a verso. Then it's a single page, and the next file stands on its own with a recto page. Running OS14.6.1 with Indesign 2025
When exporting an ID document to a PDF for printing I would like to know about image quality settings in the output settings dialogue in creating a PDF. I work on my ID with 16 bit TIFF images for these are what I've edited from originally and provide no loss in quality. In the export box can change the downsample resolution to 300ppi and change the export of format to TIFF from high quality JPG. My aim is to send the highest quality product to the printer without compromise or risk of artifacts that can happen with 8 bit JPG. Is what I'm doing best practice or should I just be using high quality JPG with maximum quality setting at export?
The roblems occured after a power cutout on our farm.I've tried removing and installing the font in creative cloud desctop. Há alguma maneira prática de importar equações feitas no Word com equation ou do Google docs?
Hey team, We've got a bit of a manual chore daily: we create 15 to 20 versions of the same design, all in different dimensions (various heights, widths, and orientations like portrait and landscape). My main question is, can we save a huge amount of time by designing the first version and then having it automatically replicate and proportionally scale across all the other required pages? Does anyone know of a way that can handle this kind of mass resizing? Thanks
Not sure if this is new behaviour after the latest update. Two weird group behaviours I noticed:1. When I have items inside a group and select 2 of them and press command+g, it does nothing. However when I put them inside a group outside of that group and then drag the group inside the other group it does that without any issues. It also works when I select multiple groups and press command+g.2. When a group is minimized in the layer panel, I can't drag anything inside of it. While the expected behaviour would be that anything dragged onto a closed layer/group would place that item on top within the layer/group, OR expand the layer/group so it can be placed inside.3. When I have a group selected and place a new object, it doesn't place it inside the group but on top of it. Even though I double clicked the object so I was actually inside the group. That makes 0 zense. Would be nice to at least have the option to change that behaviour. 4. Why is it a single click to change the group
Well, this has thrown me for a loop. Amazon is telling my client that it no longer accepts files made using OEBPS. That's how InDesign exports epubs. I know of no other way of making them. Help??? Evidently, other recent epubs have exported without OEBPS, but this particular file doesn't. What am I doing wrong? Google AI says, "The 'OEBPS' folder is a standard part of the EPUB format structure, so it will still be present in the final exported file, regardless of your settings." I've tried rebuilding the file, but it's still giving me OEBPS. What's driving me especially bonkers about this is that Amazon was so clear about communicating that the MOBI format would end, but I have heard nary a peep about OEBPS until this emergency. Did I mention I'm sick and should be in bed? 😉
It is possible to make a InDesign book print or pdf as spreads. But the last page of an document/chapter and the first page of the next document/chapter are always single pages! Therefore many dtp-ers choose not to use the InDesign book option, but make the complete book in one document. I would love to send my complete InDesign book as pdf in spreads for email review. Please let the first and last page of the book documents be exported as spreads, as if it was made in one document.
Is there any way to add additional tags other than the 10 that are listed in the Export Tagging list in the Paragraph style options window?
Hi, I cannot see any of recently online published items within the dashboard: any idea anyone about? <Title renamed by moderator>
As I have recently struggled with a nasty issue with macOS Tahoe straight after the update—luckily now solved—where the solutions could either be create a new admin user to start afresh or… wipe the SSD to start afresh with no migration allowed because the issue was in the user library, I would like to create a backup routine with Carbon Copy Cloner of just the settings folders for the apps I use for work. I need to find all folders related to at least the apps I use: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, Acrobat, Bridge. Perhaps this could be expanded to include also all other apps for other people who would like to feel safe. Thank you!
I am encountering an annoying problem with InDesign lately. I have SAVE AS my document and when reopened, even after a PC restart (Win 11), the document is filled with random characters in text, bullets, tables, hyperlinks. Original documents from WORD 365 for Win not linked to ID but pasted. This happens when working from home on a connected (not wi-fi) network and in the office. Example below:Is there a workaround besides having to restart the laptop again and again? Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
