(Adobe InDesign 20.5 x64, Win 11 Pro)
I'm creating labels for a product and need to print the expiration date on them. Is it possible to use Text Variables to automatically imput the date 180 days/6 months in the future?
I recently update creative cloud apps and now can't access a file recently worked on. The error messages states to work on the file in a newer version even when updated to latest version?Converting file doesn't work. Please help.
This is it. I am scrapping my subscriptions to all Adobe products very soon. As soon as I find any alternative to Adobe's garbage software. Why would you hide the horizontal scroll bar in Indesign 2025? What madness would compel Adobe to be so hateful toward its customers? I have given up on Indesign, it's awful. Can anyone help me find the scroll bar so I can complete this week's tasks and start the search for alternative software?
Hi everyone, I'm using the last version of inDesign 2020 on a Windows 10 machine and until recently I hadn't any problems, but in the last couple of weeks I'm experiencing huge lags using the Text Tool every time that more than a single document is opened. I searched the old posts and tried to delete the preferences folder with the software closed, but it doesn't solve the problem for me. Any suggestions?

For as along as I've used InDesign (and I was an early adopter back in the days), I was able to copy/paste vector elements from Illustrator to InDesign. Since I got my new computer last week (M2 MacBook Pro, Sonoma 14.1, newest version of all CC apps), when I copy/paste from Illustrator to InDesign, it pastes elements as 'pasted graphics' (meaning pixels, not vectors), instead of groups of vectors, as it's done up until this point. How can I change this? Is this a "feature" (and I mean that ironically) of the newest round of CC apps? Is the newest version of macOS the culprit? Either way, I need to get back to be able to copy/paste vectors/paths between Ai and ID. Help?
Updated to 20.2 from 20.1Jsx scripts (good old extendscript) that call Applescripts via app.doScript crash with error -2753.Anyone experiencing the same issue?
I have an issue in exporting PDF. from Indesign I created a button with buttons and forms, but the area of the button is taller than button, how fix it? <Title renamed by MOD>
como posso ultrapassar isso??
Recently, InDesign allowed two users to access and edit the same file located on the network drive. User A was actively working on a file, while User B was able to open and work on it. User A was subsequently kicked off the file, all edits and changes were overwritten, and the software crashed. According to User B, the file did not generate a lock file, which usually prevents other users from accessing the file and making changes. We store our working folders and InDesign files on a network drive. It is unclear if both users were using the same InDesign version. User A may have been using InDesign 2026, while User B was likely using the latest version of InDesign 2025. The issue occurred twice in two separate InDesign files and has not happened again.
Hi gang, I am very impressed with Print Bleed Generative AI in Adobe Illustrator 2026. Is that new feature also in InDesign?
Why in the new InDesign 2026 does the file you open up, not dock in the upper left corner anymore? It now opens UNDERNEATH your tools and pallets. THIS IS EXTREMLY ANNOYING! You have to physically move it each time you open a new file. But it's partially offscreen, so this make it hard to do. And when you save it, close it, and reopen... it's still DOES NOT DOCK. It STILL opens under your tools and pallets. I do not use the application frame and will not use it. I have to be able to access folders quickly on my desktop, so I need to see my part of my desktop. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FIX THIS ADOBE.
TL;DR: Clients can no longer highlight text in Share for Review (browser view). Only pin/shape options remain, making text amends invisible. Bug or feature removal? Hi all, I’ve just come back from holiday and run into a nightmare with Share for Review in InDesign. I shared a chapter of a book with a client using the built-in Share function. They did what they always do in the browser: highlight passages of text, add amends, pin comments, etc. But this time the highlight tool is gone. The only options available are Place a Pin or Draw a Shape. As a result, all of my client’s highlighted amends are invisible to them... although the Review panel inside InDesign still recognises the highlights. This makes it impossible for them to follow my replies or know which text I’m addressing. Has the highlight feature been removed? I’ve noticed a UI change, so perhaps this is intentional? If so, why would such a critical function for book and text-heavy projects
Hello, I'm having some issues using this new feature, when I try to open a PDF, I'm greeted with the below message.I believe my company is blocking the Adobe server, anyone knows which URL Indesign is using? I can ask IT to whitelist that. Thanks
Could someone help me with this - I want to export the Indesign document as a Booklet (with pagination for printing) as I have to email as PDF to the printer. The issue: no option dropdown to select PDF
Hello there. Does someone know if it is possible to extract a text on a given page that is using specific XML Tag? Let's say that I have a business cards with name, phone number and an e-mail address. All of those elements may or may not be inside the same text box, but they are all tagged [with the colored brackets] with unique tag and are on a same page. The InDesign file may have multiple pages and I would like to target individual pages separately. Is it possible to extract the text itself if I know the name of the tag? The purpose of this is that I can create a template for data merge and generate qr-codes after the merge with a custom script that would use the tagged details to create a vCard. Thanks for your time, David
After moving from Apple Intel to Apple Silicon InDesign now only exports one PDF at the time while all other exports are just "Queued". I am exporting many heavy files and on Intel Macs it handles four exports simultainously. On M1 it takes forever to export using one single CPU core while all the other CPU cores are idle. This is horrible. However: if i force InDesign to run in Rosetta it exports four PDFs at once againg, using ≈ 450% CPU as it should. But then again ... I don't want to run everything in Rosetta. Same on Indesign v17 ("2022") and v18 ("2023").
Hello! I'm having trouble saving a file in InDesign. Only a black window opens and stays there. Do you know what could be happening?
Hi! Peter Kehrel's script works fine but if I have a lots of sidenotes on the page they just overlap. Stack script doesn't work because there is too many of them. I want them to flow on the next page or any other solution that could work fine. Can anybody help with this issue?
I have an inDesign multi document 208 page book with hires images on each page.I can succesuly create a mid res pdf of each doc using the export/adobe pdf (print) command, the images are clean with no sign of noise and very little pixelation. However when I try to export the entire book to PDF using the book panel (indb) the images come out very low resulution, lots of jpeg artifact and pixels, I have the same pdf set up in both instances: Bicubic downsample: 150 ppi Compression: auto (jpeg) Image quality: mediumWhen I hit the create/export button the scroll bar runs very quickly, far too quick for these hi res files. As best I can tell this problem started in the last 6 months, before then never a problem. Has any one else encountered this problem?I'm running indd 2020 on an imac (late 2012) Mojave 10.14.6 with bags of free space Many thanks,Lawrence
Hi, I have an Illustrator document with multiple artboards and elements arranged on different layers. When I import the file into InDesign, the layers get multiplied based on the number of artboards, and every time I have to go on a treasure hunt to hide the layers that don’t correspond to the graphics on that specific artboard.I cannot and do not want to split the artboards into separate files. How can I fix this in Illustrator and InDesign 2025?
Hi everyone. i googled it but could not find exactly the information i wanted so here i am. i produced a document in A4 pages and want to print in A3 format but in a way that makes the printed sheets be mounted as a booklet. So the first A3 sheet front would contain the first A4 page on the right and the last page on the left. the back of the first A3 sheet would contain the second page on the left and the penultimate page on the right side and so forth so when put together i could mount it using a paper stapler and bend it in the middle to form a booklet. how can i do this in an automated way cos right now i´m setting up a new A3 document and placing pages content one by one on the A3 pages from the A4 document. {Renamed by MOD}
It appears to be Publish Online except that it creates an HTML5 'package' that you can upload to a web server. I am a huge fan of the In5 plugin, and I'm wondering if this comes a little closer to that standard. I'll be updating ID and comparing the two. I'm a firm believer in the possibilities of custom designed websites that are static--meaning not templated or output from a database. If Adobe is planning to put development effort to supporting this feature, I'm looking forward to a lot more creativity and less cookie-cutter interactive design. Here's my wish list: Improved animation tools The ability to create variables for things like keeping score in a quiz HTML5 tricks like parallax scrolling and draggable elements <Title renamed by MOD>
How do I export Workspace settings in Mac InDesign 2017.1 so I can make them the same on laptop/desktop?
