Photoshop

I forgot to change to heading to something which would describe what I have here better.  I have a very large file (the “Working Copy” I refer to below)  that I am working on, 10GB+. The dimensions are 41000+ x 22000+ px (600 ppi). If I remember correctly, it was a .psd but is now a .psb. I don’t know when it changed. I noticed it yesterday and it surprised me as I have found it as .psd before,  I think. About a week ago or so, I could, after a bit of searching online, save it to the cloud. I am a beginner and have really no clue at all what I am doing and how things work.  For a short description of what happened, read below. For my questions, jump to the questions at the bottom. After I had uploaded it, it first really slowed down my pc and it autosaved too often. Photoshop closes without warning during editing of large Hasselblad TIFF/PSB files. Crashes frequently occur while using Magnetic Lasso. Event Viewer identified Nik Collection 8 Palette.8li as the faulting module in at least one crash. Issue persists after Photoshop preference resets and NVIDIA driver updates. Loss of recent editing work occurs. Photoshop 27.7.0 frequently crashes without warning during normal professional editing work. The application abruptly closes and recent work is lost.My workflow involves large Hasselblad TIFF and PSB files. I cant use generative fill, and object selection. It said program error. anyone have same issue?object selectiongenerative fill 

The latest version of Photoshop 27.7 seems to be missing the reflection removal option in the Edits I reverted to 27.6 and it's there in the Edits menu.. Am I missing something.? 

Today, I updated Photoshop. Almost every time it crashes at 50 percent, so I tried again. This time it crashed, so I re-lunched the update. It crashes again. Then it’s Creative Cloud that crashes. (It’s been a while since it worked well (loading font/asking me to do a quick tour of the app/updating without problem)Finally, Photoshop updated, but what a surprise, my software language changed, my brush is gone, also my pattern, workspace, swatch, actions, gradient. And of course, NO possible way to re-import everything easily (because it's not the first time)I’m tired of the lack of reliability of those Adobe software. Every week I notice something that is really poorly made.So please ADOBE do something to correct efficiently those bugs efficiently

before anybody else says anything I’ve done the edit>preference [removed] so don’t start. i have tried to open a image (it’s a png but that really doesn’t matter.) and all it does is crash it. not only that but since I’ve had it both it and creative cloud cause my computer to stall and freeze. creative cloud says in needs repair but it gives you error messages when you click repair and unless and the only way to get the computer and my web browser from freezing and moving slow is to end the tasks in task master. this is driving me nuts. this is a six year old laptop with about 128 gigs of storage i don’t know any other specs as i am not that much of a geek

Hey, I have looked around a bit and can’t seem to find a way so I figured id come to the experts.  Is there a way to Puppet Warp across more than one layer? Im making a skin for a video game and trying to move some dragon like scales and i need them to move / change shape on the diffuse, mask and 3d normals layers at the same time.I tried to make the 3 layers into a smart object and do it that way but when I convert back to layers the changes get undone.  Iv tried dulpicating the smart object 2 extra times with the idea to go into the smart object and turn off certain layers.. all with no joy =(Is this possible? Thank you in advanced!

My current workflow for photo editing is as follows:- basic adjustments in Lighroom -- “Edit In Photoshop 2026” (COMMAND+E) to open in Photoshop -- “Edit with Lighroom Adjustments” --  do full edit in Photoshop 2026 --  “Save” (COMMAND+S) to save the TIF -- finish in Lightroom for export. “Moving” the files back and forth (COMMAND+E and COMMAND+S) used to be immediate. Lately though, the communication between Lightroom and Photoshop has gotten SO slow. I’m talking a full minute to open a photo in Photoshop from Lightroom. I’m getting the pinwheel and Lightroom completely freezes (says not responding but eventually does) before the photo will open in Photoshop. The “reading TIFF format” dialogue box is on the screen for a while as well. Nothing has changed on my computer or applications, updates, etc but all of a sudden, one day it was just slow. As you can imagine, this adds an absurd amount of time to my professional editing workflow.*Note: Same results with Edit in Photoshop Beta so

Dear Adobe Team, I am extremely frustrated with a critical change in Photoshop 2025 that severely impacts my workflow. In previous versions, when I set the interpolation method to “Nearest Neighbor”, Photoshop would retain this setting even after restarting. However, in the 2025 update, the software no longer remembers my chosen interpolation method, forcing me to manually reset it every single time I use the Transform (Edit → Transform) function. I am a fashion print graphic designer working for several well-known luxury fashion brands, and I rely on Photoshop for high-precision work on a daily basis. This unnecessary change is highly disruptive and drastically slows down my workflow. As a professional, I cannot afford to waste time adjusting the same setting repeatedly throughout the day. Photoshop 26.9 (just updated), macOS Sequoia 15.5, Intel MacBook Pro.   1. Drag with text tool to create large text box 2. Type a few characters, so most of the text box is empty 3. Select Type->Convert to Dynamic Text 4. Try to click and move the bottom transform handles   Expected: able to click and drag to resize bounding box Actual: cannot grab handle and text box is deselected   5. Change to Move Tool 6. Using Image calculations in Photoshop 27.4.0 does not allow me to select second open identical image except for the colour space as a source, one is set to RGB the other (a copy) is set to CMYK in version 27.3.1 this works I've reset my preferences , restarted photoshop and disabled graphics card option still does not work… 

The recent 27.5 release got updated Canvas Size modal, and it has several bugs that affect my workflow, which requires gradual pixel-perfect changes of canvas size in various directions (my units are pixels most of the time).I use relative changes to canvas size, so ‘Relative to current dimension’ checkbox is ON for me most of the time, and in this case the bugs I get are:Canvas Size modal opens with default values of width and height set to 1 pixel. Should be 0. The width and height inputs do not accept 0 value — it gets reset to 1, meaning if I want to change canvas size in one direction, anyways I’ll get 1 pixel added to the other. It’s not possible to set negative values now, which used to work before, and at times it’s more convenient and precise way to ‘crop’ canvas, rather than using the Crop tool. The values step now is 0,01 pixel, which is meaningless in most scenarios. It used to be 1 pixel, and it should be, as it allowed to use keyboard up and down arrows for quick pixel pe

I have done a lot of research but still unsure of the best laptop to buy to run windows 11 and the photoshop app. The research led me to choose a processor (Intel core),  at least 32 GB of ram, SSD with at least 1TB storage, choose a screen size (16"?), make sure I have at least 1 A port and 1 C port, a microphone and headset jack, webcam and a SD card slot. I also want touchscreen. I can spend around $1500. I thought I found a match with the Dell Inspirion 16 plus model DB 16250 but it seems unfortunately that potential conflicts with dual GPU's and modified drivers could cause issues. The sales reps at the retail stores are clueless (it seems) as what they recommend doesn't add up when I come home and do the research. I WOULD so APPRECIATE it if ANYONE has any suggestions for the right laptop to purchase. I don't do crazy things in photoshop, I touch up my photos and sometimes do composite image work. Summary: When using PS 27.7.0 the sky replacement feature is unusable as the sky will not be loaded and visible as a preview in your file while you make settings adjustments for it.   (temp fix utilized: downgrading to 27.5.0 regains sky feature usage confirmed)Description:  In 27.7.0 the sky won’t preview in file to see how settings adjust new sky fit.  If you just randomly choose settings and hit done/ok, it will then load the sky into your file.  But I was not able to see what settings were resulting in sky fit to image until after it’s loaded.  Then all you are left with is adjusting the two mask layers that are not as helpful as the sky replacement settings initially are.A coworker still only had 27.5.0 installed and their sky replacement preview still worked.  So I downgraded to 27.5.0 and now mine works again from that version.  I did not attempt 27.6.0 version.  Before downgrading PS version, I attempted to rule out graphic driver by updating Nvidia graphic drivers but did not

Bonjour, Depuis quelques jours je me trouve face à un problème sans trouver de solutions malgré de nombreuses tentative.Le contexte :Je suis photographe et j’ai l’habitude depuis plusieurs années d’utiliser lightroom et photophop. Lightroom pour la retouche puis je passe régulièrement dans photoshop pour retoucher, lisser, unir mon fond photo ou agrandir ma photo. Pour cela j’utilise le système de développement génératif, la plupart du temps sans prompt et cela a toujours très bien fonctionné.Il y quelques jours, j’ai souhaité continué la retouche des mes photos, photoshop ne s’ouvrait plus, j’ai pris le temps de le désinstaller complètement et de le réinstaller ce qui a certainement dû le mettre à jour de la dernière version puisque je découvrais que dorénavant j’avais un petit menu déroulant à côté de la case de « développement génératif » me permettant de choisir une ia (firefly 5, firefly 1, Gemini, etc…)Je paye un abonnement à creative cloud ainsi que firefly depuis plusieurs mois

27.8This has happened to me twice now. I have photoshop open. I left it open overnight and creative cloud tells me it updated this morning. And it Worked….only, I’m guessing it didn’t because the gradient tool is randomly not letting me drag a gradient. It created a gradient with a scale of 1% so it looks like a tiny tiny gradient. If I’m already moving the mouse really fast when I try and click and hold then I’ll get a gradient a Little bit longer, but that’s it. I also noticed I can select channels RGB, not I can’t select alpha/saved channels unless I choose Select > Load selection. Holting Ctrl and clicking on the icon in channels doesn’t work and selecting the channel, then choosing the option in channels to select it does nothing. I noticed PS updated the last couple times while it was open. Can I repeat this? I have no idea how I would try and repeat that, but it happened more than once and at least both of those tools are broken. I will likely have to uninstall, which means s

I see from the beta version splash screen that we have lost Jeff Schewe.  Jeff was an occasional poster on this forum back in the days when Chris Cox worked for Adobe.  He could be a grumpy bugger, but he was your man if you wanted to make the best possible large format prints.  Jeff was mainly found on the Luminous Landscape site with Michael Reichmann and others.  You’d need to be brave to get into one of the online arguments discussions he was so fond of, but he was helpful if you got him on a good day.  I think he would be pleased if he was still here to see his face on the Photoshop splash screen.Jeff Schewe: A Pioneer, a Teacher, a Friend - Luminous Landscape

The current version of Photoshop continues to have issues. Especially in versions after 26.0, the Remove Tool often triggers crash reports after being used a few times and operates very slowly.(Please don’t mention the Faster or More Stable options, as they are not fundamental solutions to the problem.)     This is how the Remove Tool performs in version 25.12.While 25.12 isn’t the most stable version, its speed isn’t too bad. (As I’ve mentioned in other threads, there’s also this bug: in versions 25.12/26.2, it seems that the first stroke is always processed by the CPU, which makes it slow, while the GPU seems to take over from the second stroke onward.)       And this is how the Remove Tool performs in version 26.2. You’ll definitely notice the difference in speed—it’s extremely slow.
