Hi! The alpha and luma options do not show up in the track matte drop down in After Effects. Track matte is where it use to be in After Effects, but the options for alpha and luma are gone. What can I do to get them back?  This is what the track matte dropdown looks like now:

For most effects with a "phase angle", all I have to do to seamlessly loop them over a given time interval is just place a keyframe with at phase angle 0 at the beginning and then a keyframe at the end that's just any whole integer of the phase angle (for example, I can do this with Motion Tile to repeatedly shift an image across the screen).  However, when I attempt to do the same thing with the Wave Warp effect, it doesn't line up at all!  (This is after setting it to a wave speed of 0.)  I noticed that I instead had to set the phase angle to o 256 degrees to get it to line up properly (or any whole number multiple of 256 for more loops).  I'm not quite sure why this is.  I'm not sure if this is consistent across layers or not, as I've got the feeling it might be dependent on the actual width or height of the layer.So how can I make wave warp loop seamlessly?

I have just started my After Effects CC 7 day trial , but it wont open.I have been looking around for a solution but none of them worked.I have tried :    -Disabling Windows Defender    -Running It As Administrator    -Reinstalling After Effect    -Reinstalling Creative Cloudbut it still didnt work.Here is a picture , when i launch it , it wont open , but it always shows up in Task Manager , it always uses 28mb of ram for some reason and nothing else.There is not error popup or anything in the Event Viewer that is related to After Effect.If needed , here are my PC Specs :CPU : Athlon x4 880kRAM : 8Gb 1600mhzGPU : R7 240 , OC to 980mhz Core , 1040mhz MemoryStorage : 1Tb HDD (Main) , 1.5Tb HDD (Primary For Storage)Thank you.

Hello @Mathias Moehl  I am hoping to automate changing text color with Automation Blocks in After Effects.I see the 'convert color' block, but I'm not clear if that's the right tool. Is it possible to change the fill color of text with Automation Blocks? Further, would it be possible to change only parts of the text within a single text field?  Like..If, in text field my text, find first occurance of 'change to blue' ≠ 0Change text fill color of my text to #0000FF

Hello.I have many layer with the same expression on their position property.This expression repeats the same tasks(repeated code) for all the layers, which make the performance very slow.My question is can I make a sudo effect (property) calculates the repeated code, and then just get a cached value for this property to the position properties and improve the performance?I don't know if using propery.value uses some caching system or not.I am using some heavy algorithems, so this will help me so much achieving what I need.So I hope you help me acheive this😊🙏.Thank you!

Is CC Repetile broken or is this user error? 1. Create a Text Layer (or any Shape Layer or use any graphic)2. Add CC Repetile to It3. Expand to the Left or Right4. Keyframe the layer's position on the x axis at a slow speed. Watch the duplicates (created by CC Repetile) jitter, both in preview and in render  Sometimes the bouncing (or glitchy or twitchy or jumpy) errors result in a small movement, but (especially if it's thin enough) it will jitter more and more as it duplicates from the original source.  Is this a bug or a feature? For text repetitions, workarounds include using expressions like repeat(), but it is not a great solution as I'm having trouble with spacing. AE Version: 24.6.2MacOS SequioaAttached Gif and AE File

Hello, @Mathias Moehl !After nearly two years of exceptional productivity with Automation Blocks for Premiere, we've purchased a few licenses for the After Effects version. Loving the spreadsheet functionality. So much potential. At the moment, I'm trying to write a script that exports a single png of the last frame of all the selected compositions.I made one that sets the work area to one frame and then outputs a png sequence (resulting in only one png). My concern there is that when my team goes to render the full .mov, they'll accidently render only one frame.I added a block to the script that resets the work area after sending the .png to the render queue. Unfortunately, if you do that before hitting render, you'll get a .png sequence of the entire work area.So... is there a way to write a script that saves a single frame .png of a chosen frame of all selected compositions?

I have a licence of Adobe CS6 and I have been using the softwares for now quite some time. After upgrading computer, I installed the Suite from scratch on my brand new machine. I am running on Windows 11, with an Intel Core i5-13600k and on board graphics, Intel Graphics 770. It is to my sadness to see that I cannot open After Effects on my new machine. Everytime I try to open it, I get the error message: After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <13628> <GPUManager> <2> Sniffer Result Code: 3 After searching through previous posts, I have seen the suggestion of changing the Comportability setting to Windows 7, which I have done, but I get a similar error message: After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <13628> <GPUManager> <2> Sniffer Result Code: 1Only the Sniffer Result Code number changed. The software behaviour is exactly the same. I have installed the newest grap

Hello i'm importing a illustrator (cc17) file with 1000 layers all sequenced and separated into After Effects (cc17) and it crashes AE.I've seen a way arround this with the script explode layers, but is taking to long since i've to run the script only at 50 at a time, when i try to do it in, 1000 groups in the shape layers it all so crashes AE.My Mac is aMacBook Pro(Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013)2,7 GHz Intel Core i716 GB 1600 MHz DDR3NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MBIntel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MBI have another file with just 500 layers and doe the same.Is it normal for this to happen?Cheers

Hi,I am currently working on a time sensitive project that was built in AE25 but I'm currently experiencing repeated stability issues. I just want to get through this project without the added crash stress, so I'm looking to backsave my file to AE24 but I'm not seeing the option? I've looked into the whole "Save as a copy" but there's no backsave file option in the dropdown. It's only showing save as an AE template and that obviously doesn't work.  Any help?

This comes up every time I open AE2025 (25.5.0) (MacOS 15.6.1 Apple Silicon M4). Everything works after I close it but still it's a sign of something... AE2024 doesn't show it. Is it because of some plug-in, extension etc?

While exporting to 818 x 460 px ProRes 4444 I noticed that exported mov had slightly different colors than the same composition which was exported to 1920x1080 px. I prepared a simple AE scene which generates the same issue. Here is a simple test showing the issue. Top part is 1920px, bottom is 818px (scaled to fit).  When I exported the file first to 1920px and then scaled it to 818px using Handbrake there was no differences in the color. Is this an issue with AE or some weird limitation of ProRes?  

if theres no motionblur for 3d objects then whats the point?

When paused and not playing back, the entire preview window goes black. I can see my composition play back normally when playing, but it goes black when I pause. This issue happens with every project I make. I've tried:-Driver updates and everything GPU related-Making sure fast previews and wireframe are off-Starting in safe mode with 3rd party plugins disabled-Reinstalling After Effects and resetting preferences-Checking preview settings and making sure everything is visible  Details:After Effects 25.1Windows 11 Pro 24H2AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 & RTX 4060 (Laptop) w/ 32GB RAM Thanks to anybody who can help!  

I tried uploading footage into After Effects and Premiere Pro, but the videos came out way too bright because of HDR. I looked up how to change the color settings, but even after trying those, the footage still doesn’t look close to the original. I need your help finding the right settings so it looks correct. The After Effects version looks the worst. I’m attaching a picture to help you understand.

Imported layers from illustrator have broken edges. I have outlined texts and I have the continuosly rasterize option activated, and nothing seems to help.What can be causing this issue? The rest of the imported ai files work fine, it's only this ai document. 

Hey guys,as you can see in the screenshot below, I imported some psd.files, but the problem is that the layers are not being regarded as Photoshop Layers by After Effects, as you can see in the timeline because there are no "Ps" symbols next to the layers, despite me, when I imported the file, choosing "Import as: Composition - Retain Layer Sizes".Therefore, the text layer "So, you want to create" is not even regarded as a text layer for example..I tried solving this problem for hours, but have not been able to fix it yet... 

Hi everyone,I’m stuck on a problem in After Effects.I’m following this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iB7tLjqsKMY , and everything works fine,  until I try to make my molecule higher quality.If I scale up the layer inside the new composition, it becomes too pixelated.But if I increase the size directly in the base composition (where the solids are), I go from having about 3 atoms to around 10, and the whole effect looks completely different.I’d like my molecule to be at least 1000 px wide for my animation.However, it seems that it’s not possible to go beyond 50 in the “Space Grid” setting of CC Ball Action.Does anyone know how to get a higher-quality version of this effect or how to recreate the same look as in the tutorial without using a 3D program (ideally staying within After Effects)?Thanks a lot for your help! 

So im trying to do Content-Aware Fill on my rotoscoped subject in the black, but I keep getting either this error code or 'Rotobrush buffer size mismatch'. If someone could diagnose my problem that would be greatly appreciated. 

I use to edit A LOT on Element 3D, I used to pirate all of it becaise I couldn't afford it, one day Element crashed my After Effects and it never stopped until this day, I BOUGHT After Effects and Element 3D from Video Copilot, HOPING it would work. I can apply element to a layer with no problem, and open the interface without nothing happening, but when I import 3D models EVEN the ones that come with Element, my After FX crashes. I tried unistalling everything, and just nothing works! I got clients waiting on me AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. help plz
