I'm sorry, English isn'y my first language. But I assume there's a bug in the latest update. Because I've been having a problem and I just removed the latest version of Illustrator, installed an older version, and the issue is gone.I can't scale/change the side of objects how I want them to. If I want to exchange only the width, but not the height, for example. So I change the settings for the width, but it automatically scales the height to proportion. I don't want it scaled to proportion, I only want to change what I told Illustrator to change. The chain is unlinked, I did everything right. I let my colleague double check everything as well. We checked and unchecked everything one by one to see if it would make a difference. But I just can't change the width separately from the height (and vise versa). Like I said: the issue was gone when I removed the latest version from Illustrator and installed an older version. Everything works perfects in the older version.

I just updated to 30.6 and transform is not working. Usually i can just click transform and when i need to adjust the H or W, unlink the chain, and adjust the size. Now when I unlink the chain it continues to constrain and adjusts both H and W. I restarted illustrator, opened a new file, put in a 2x2 square and then adjusted one of the measurements with the link unchained. It worked one time. but then when i went in to adjust it again to make sure it was working, it went right back to adjusting both H and W as if the link was chained. Any one else? is there a weird setting somewhere i dont know about?

When a layer is coloured (grey in this instance) the artboard name/number information is obscured. Please fix. It's only when the view is at certain sizes. But still it need fixing so. See image.

Hi all, two days ago my Illustrator started crashing nonstop and I have not been able to resolve it. I have tried tech support for my computer, uninstalling and reinstalling the program, reverting back to a previous version, using Creative Cloud Cleaner, resetting preferences and just about every possible fix I have found online and I am at such a loss. This is happening with files of any size. It crashes if I place or edit the size of a shape, edit text, copy and paste things, move around the toolbars to accommodate my workflow. It basically crashes after I try doing anything in any size file, both new and old files. Sometimes I’ll get an error message saying it needs to close and sometimes it just freezes and closes. Sometimes it lets me work for ten minutes tops before crashing again. It’s completely unusable. I work with an Asus Proart and Windows if that’s any help, so it’s not an issue of the system not meeting the requirements since the laptop is quite literally made to handle d

I just updated to illustrator 30.6 version and can no longer turn off the "Transform Both" option. Whether the chain icon is on or off, it scales both height and width. The drop down menu has the “Transform Both” option checked and will not allow me to uncheck it. Is anyone else having trouble with this? The only solution I found was to roll back the update to previous version.

After updating to 30.5.1, whenever I try to edit an object using a dialog box with the “Preview” checkbox on (simplify, smooth, scale, transform, and any Illustrator Effect), the edits will commit to the object, even if I cancel the dialog box.What’s even more odd, is the history panel then shows an individual “UNDO” for every slider or value adjustment that I had made BEFORE canceling or clicking OK in the dialog box.This is not an expected behavior that I have ever experienced in over 20 years of using Illustrator. I found a bug report from 2019 expressing the same issue, which hasn’t gotten much attention, so I’m assuming it’s not a common issue. But I have no idea what may have caused it in my case, other than updating to 30.5.1. Hello Everybody. I have been trying to export an illustrator design as a SVG for a couple of hours and the same message keep appearing,I tried everything that appeared online, from copy paste it in another artboard to restarting illustrator and nothing is working.  Does anybody have an idea of what could be the issue?

In duplicating artboards  in Illustrator in Windows 10. Select Alt and drag to create a new artboard NO problem. My artboards go from 25, 27, 27, 28. I cannot get a 26. I have created a new artboard at the end and even tried to move it between 25 and 27 to create a 26 and Illustrator will not do it. I still get two 27 artboards. SO the secondary 27 will not export. I have to create one at the end and rename it. I've done this for years, WHAT is going on??? It's a glitch and how do I fix it?

Even though i am selecting a black brush, on the mask layer, I am not able to brush the mask with black. On the other hand there is no problem with using a white brush, as seen on the youtube video.https://youtu.be/3BBpHtlN6dU

Recently all my Adobe apps have been super buggy, like waaaay more than I have ever noticed in years of using them. For example, I had a path that had a brush applied to it, when I copy and paste that path into another document the path is there but the brush is rendering like 2 inches away from where the actual path is. What is going on? Nothing is causing things to totally not work, but it is like everything is kind of broken or glitchy? Is it just me or anyone else having a lot of strange things happen in the software? 

When I'm working in a file and have my Library palette open, things are good for about 5-10min. Then the Library palette freezes and I can't open or close any of the folders I have in the Library. Same thing happens if I close a file and then reopen any file after about 5-10min. I have reset preferences, signed out and back in the cloud, and uninstalled and reinstalled the app. This also is happening with Photoshop but I'm more concerened with Illustrator since I use that every day. Can anyone help me with this situation - it started about a week ago. Thank you!

When I try open Illustrator version 26.0.1 or version 25.4.1, I can't see anything. according to windows task manger the program is running but nothing is showing up on my screen or taskbar. I have try uninstalling Illustrator but it is still not opening.

With the latest update for Illustrator if I click on the filter tab in the Font Menu, Illustrator freezes for a few minutes. If I'm patient it will continue where I left off. This happens every time I access the filter tab to sort by characteristics (script, hand made, serif..etc)

After upgrading Illustrator to version 30.1 (on Windows 11) with the new font filtering system, everytime I try to use it I get the hour glass hang until either it just backs out of the selection with no filtering or Illustrator crashes. Filtering used to work until the update changed the system.

Whenever I try to enter a decimal number in properties, I have to use a comma, but I would like to be able to use the dot (.) since that is the sign on my number pad on the keyboard, and it would make typing a lot easier. Does anyone know if there is a way to change this?

I oftentimes round corners or merge shapes together only to end up with a shape that looks nice but has horrible topology with overlapping anchor points. This makes adjusting bezier curves on these points impossible since the bezier handles are split up.  The solution is called "merge points by distance" or "remove doubles" which is commonly used in Blender 3D to reduce the vertex count which makes it easier to manipulate a model. Let's say we have a 5-spoked star in Ilustrator and for some reason end up moving 4 anchor points of the right half on top of the anchor point at the top. You now have a nice half star silhouette with terrible topology since it icludes a corner with 5 overlapping anchor points. A simple "remove doubles" command would merge every anchor point on the canvas or selection that is closer than 0.000001 px or something like that, leaving you with the half star and no more overlapping points.  Yes, I know that you can just delete the 4 a

I am self-taught in Illustrator and I know there are simple ways to do some things that I manually do.  I'm trying to place 22 small circles evenly on a circular path.  I don't want the large red circle in the graphic at the end.  What are all of the steps to do this?     

I recently started having this strange issue, I will be working on a document, everything looks normal, I will close the document. The next time I open it, random text is a different color than what it should be - it appears black, but when I click on it, there actually is no color in the swatch on the toolbar, it is a question mark. I will the change the “black” text to the right color, save and close the document, then upon reopen different text is the question mark black. It is so random, some documents have the issue and some do not. Wondering what it could be?

 I made a shape with the pen tool and then put a grid over it. I wanted to use the paths on the grid to divide the shape but it is not working. I make sure the path was above the shape, I tried just cutting with the scissors, and even making another shape with the pen tool but nothing works.  

Hello all This has started happening a short while ago. If I want to change the CMYK values on a colour in the 'Color' window and change the C value, then tab to M and change that, when I tab to Y the whole set of percentage values goes blank and the color preview has a question mark. Example:I change 40% in C to 50%, then press the tab key to move to M, then tab to Y to change that, everything goes very odd - screenshots attached... Is this a bug? Been using Illustrator since Illustrator 3...not something I recall coming across before.  Simon
