Questions

This has happned a few times now so need to vent - if a user on mac erroneously opens a docuement that is already open and being edited and not yet saved, the document somtimes reverts back to the original saved file without a prompt. I have lost hours of work. I wanted to report this bug on adobe feedbacl page but typical of adobe, the link is broken.

Je ne trouve même pas ou est l'application sur windows. J'ai relié un fichier .ia à illustrator.exe mais ça ne fonctionne pas. Je ne comprends pas. Si quelqu'un sait m'aider, merci.

Hi, I was working something for school and for some reason, the illustrator file  opens up as a PDF, and when I try to open a page, it just shows a message that there is a dict issue and will not open the file. IS there any way to recover the file at this point? Hi everyone, I created a JavaScript script that allows me to automate part of my job (creating packaging layouts). In this script, I resize the working sheet and then calculate the required bleed on the top, bottom, left, and right sides to have a A3 page format I would like to apply these bleed values automatically, but I don’t think this is currently possible. At the moment, I have to write them down and then copy and paste them into the document settings manually. Do you know if I’m mistaken and if there is a way to automate this, or is this a feature that might be added in the future? Thank you in advance for your feedback.   <Title renamed by MOD>    

So I think something buggy has happened to my Menu commands and Keyboard shortcuts. The Offset Path has ctrl+F4 as a shortcut, not ideel as everythings closes when I want to use it, and it does not appear as an option in my Keyboard shortcuts menu to change it.

I have been using Illustrator for ages, and for some reason I can't figure out how to make the whites fully transparent in Multiply mode. I scanned line art through Photoshop, used the levels there to make the whites 100%, but after adding the art into Illustrator and setting the layer mode to multiply, it's still making the colors beneath darker. The whites aren't fully transparent. I have tried saving the line art in a variety of formats (.jpg, .png, .tiff) to see if I could make any difference, but no luck. As I say, I am not new to illustrator, I have been using this technique for 20 years (yes, I am that old!), and I have dim memories of this occurring occasionally, but I thought I had previously fixed it by changing the format of the line art. Now I am at a loss. Any helpful suggestions are welcome. Thanks! 

Of course Illustrator randomly chashes when I am working on a file. I just lost a half a day of work. Unbelievable. No recovery file were made.is there any other way I can get my file back??

Is there any other place to download Illustrator CC SDK C++ versions 2014-2022?

All of a sudden I can't see to change the color or stroke design (dashed).  What have I done?

I am new to Illustrator and using version 2026. I am following a "Get started with Illustrator" tutorial which appears to have 10 modules.  The first one titled "Get to know Illustrator" explained where to get the sample files.  The second module "Draw precise and freeform shapes with full control", just jumps in on a document which wasn't included in the first modules download.  Can somone help me figure out where I can get the sample files for all 10 of the modules for this tutorial? Thank you

At the bottom of this escutcheon, I tried to join two paths.   They ended up overlapping each other.  How do I cut off those little pieces? (They are at the pointy end of the sheild) I tried a clipping mask, but that did not work.  Should I just go back and redraw it?  Of course I didn't notice it until I went to turn it into a pdf!

I want to have a perpendicular cut of black stroke of this portion in yellow color. I separated stroke & fill & used "Perpendicular Line Tool" of AG & native Pathfinder tool. But it did not work. How to fix this? File was uploaded as well.Perpendicular Cut

I need to be able to send my vectorized .pdf file to clients.  I want them to be able to have a vectorized file (since the quality is so clear), but not be able to open the document in Adobe Illustrator and be able to see all my paths, layers, etc. Recently I opened another company's .pdf (that was emailed to me) in adobe illustrator to see if I could edit it, and noticed it was a Linked File. I am trying to save my own file as a Linked File, and it is not working.  When I reopen the document in Illustrator, my work is embedded, and once again my paths are able to be seen.         These are my steps:               1. File/Save As/.pdf /.everything unclicked/Save PDF                                  2. File/New Document/Create/File/Place/click on previously saved .pdf/check the 'Link' box/                 Place. As you can see, it is a Linked File                                   3. File/Save As/new.pdf/save/uncheck everything/Save PDF             4. Open the saved .pdf in Adobe and no

New Illustrator 30.0 now scales artwork when the artboard gets re-sized. I never gave Adobe permission to add this annoying feature. 🙂 How does one turn this off? So that I can resize artboards like the old days with it scaling my artwork.  

For quire some time this approach was working perfectly in our plugin: sAIFont->GetPostScriptFontName(fontKey, postScriptName, 1024); But recently in 29-30 version of Illustrastor it does not return anything when the fonts are missing. The font names are still returned correctly when the fonts are installed in the system. But if they are not, this returns an empty string and the result is an error. Other similar methods from AIFont are also not working correctly. I have also tested it in the recent Illustrator Beta, with the same result. Can someone explain what is happening and why this was somehow changed and how should it work now?

I have included a screenshot off my screen.  I can't reset and save the preferences.  I have completely shut illustrator down (and shutdown the computer).  I have checked my screen resolution and it is at the correct setting.  It just started happening...grrrr. 

Why Adobe Illustrator 2025 is not making or opening new files in adobe lllustrator would you help me today or tomorrow but not tuesday or wednesday Thanks Kevin

J'avais déjà quelques problèmes avec Illustrator, notamment l'affichage de l'erreur "fichier introuvable" que j'imputais à un OS que je n'avais pas réinstallé depuis un moment et seulement 20go d'espace disque. J'ai donc réinstallé un MacOS tout neuf et il me reste 600go d'espace libre. Et c'est maintenant pire que tout. Quand j'ouvre d'ancien fichiers qui ne posaient pas de problèmes je me retrouve maintenant avec le message suivant :quand j'essaie de sauvegarder un fichier vide j'ai le message : Il m'est donc impossible de sauvegarder mon travail ! Je suis bloqué avec un abonnement à 79€/mois qui devient complètement inutilisable. Que se passe-t-il ??? je ne pense pas que ma config soit à plaindre pourtant... Et je précise que j'ai la dernière version d'Illustrator. D'ailleurs ne pas avoir d'autre support qu'une aide en ligne indigestement immense et inutile ou forum me semble plus qu'insuffisant en 2026... Désolé mais je suis très mécontent et je ne vois pas ce qui me retient de cou

I know this probably sounds a little stupid, but how would someone with more experience choose to trace this spear head?  I tried the pen tool, to trace one side and then duplicated/reflected  it but it doesn't line up.  Then I tried the polygon tool, but trying to resize the triangle base changes everyting.

Hi all, this is something I have seen popping up several times in Illustrator but never took the time write down:In my Recent tab in Illustrator I see far more from an image than is actually visible when opening the file. This happens with files I receive from others (customers) as well, so it sometimes looks like I can see artwork that was deleted later before they sent it to me.It even happens with JPG files: I see more in the preview then is in the actual JPG. Has anyone seen this behaviour as well?

A bit of a headscratcher. I made a simple edit to 4 files, changing a blending mode on a raster layer from screen to normal. All files ballooned up by about 100MB, from ~450MB to 550MB. Did something change with how raster files are stored in AI files? No settings have been altered by me, but files are inflating on their own.I did try to save without preview as a , and it reduced about 200-300MB, resaving with preview, brought it back up to an inflated size. Looking into a separate issue with PNGs/TIFs inflating when reducing their resolution. Curious if anyone has seen similar.

Hey. I have a cloud document saved on CC I've been using for about 9 months featuring multiple styles, artboards etc. I last opened the files 5 days ago but after updating to windows 11 Creative Cloud tells me the file is incompatible with the current version of adobe illustrator, I have tried openinng it with the 2025 version as well but no difference.I've tried the following fixres after reading community posts:Downloading the file.Copying the file.Renaming the file.Signing out and into adobe Creative Cloud.This file is the only backup I have of the document and I really need to access it for work purposes. I hope someone or hopefully an adobe agent can help recover a slightly older backup. Thank you. - Daniel

Do these still not have a shortcut for Pathfinder's Unite? Also does gradient on text still need to be applied by doing an excorcism on an extinct unicorn?   My suggestion is to make the "Unite" and other pathfinder commands smaller, like 4x4 pixels, so that we REALLY have to aim.   And for gradient in text, they should introduce a secondary subscription.
