Questions

Hi everyone, I want to stretch text from right to left but keep it completely flat, without any perspective distortion. What’s the best way to do this in Illustrator ?

Until now, when I selected several elements with different positions on the Z-axis, the Z-axis position of the copied elements would correspond to that of the original elements. Example: If I alt-dragged one element that was in front and one that was behind a third element, the copied elements would also be infront and behind. Now, as soon as I alt-drag several elements, they all end up in front of the uppermost of the original elements. Is this a bug or has this been an intentional change to something I find much worse? It is really annoying that I now loose all depth information as soon as I alt-drag more than one element, and it really messes up my workflow. Is there a way to change this back?

Another oddity since the update 29.7.1 - Mac OS Ventura 13.7.7When rotating simple vectors, these ghost elements start randomly appearing. See in this example, the light teal bar was rotating but left odd shards in its path. They vanish after deselecting.

Why making one simple gradient over one group of objects is so hard? 

We currently have the ability to select multiple objects and select the Relink icon within the Links window. We are then able to select the image to replace the first object, it is replaced, and a new finder/explorer window pops up to then select the next new image to replace the next old image. This is fine, but in many cases i'd just like to use the same image on everything that i'm relinking. I've always wanted one of those 'Apply to All" check boxes like you get in the case of relinking a file with broken links. So I suppose one way you could do this is to break the links and reopen, etc. but this is not efficient at all. The checkbox could be added next to the Link, Template, Replace, Show Import Options  checks? 

In my 3D and materials panel the perspective slider doesn't work. It isn't grayed out but the slider won't move and I can't input a number into the box on the right either. Does anyone know why that might be the case?

Its hard to describe so I attached a screen video. When I have a colored object selected in illustrator and want to change the CMYK values I select cyan and enter the new percentage, then tab to the next color to enter the percentage and so forth into yellow and black. Recently as soon as I tab it goes gray or goes to the first (cyan) column again and I cant enter colors. So far I have to select, say cyan and type in the number. Then select nothing. reselect the color box again and select the next color on the list (magneta) and enter the color percentage.  Not sure if its the latest update thats affecting it or astute manager plugin or a combination of both. Anyone else run into this problems. Solutions?

I have a problem that I can't find a solution for. I have 2 illustrator files with exactly the same graphics, copied and pasted from File 1 to File 2. In File 2 the colours are displaying much brighter and more vivid. Both of the files are in RGB colour mode.Both of the colour settings are synchronised to Europe General Purpose 3Both have the same colour profile: sRGB IEC 61966-2.1 I can't fine any other differences between the file colour settings. Does anyone have any other suggestions? 

Half of my team has had this issue in the past year. We have particular files that have 128+ artboards, and Illustrator crashes when you attempt to export even 3 at a time off of these big files. Most computers in the office acheive this just fine, but 3 of our computers always crash when attempting this.  We are all up to date on updates (both computer systems and Adobe) and the files are exactly the same between computers. We work on Mac Minis if that makes any difference. There is no correlation between storage space or year/make of computer. Is this just a software difference? I'm hoping that we have some setting somewhere checked and need to uncheck it. 

HI all,  I am trying to edit a document, but I can't do anything as it only shows these blue outer lines. How do I remove them and start editing? 

Hi! I've been having a problem with illustrator where this message (verifying access to '//192.168.1.250/shared_storage') pops up every time I switch windows (like if I click on photoshop or google chrome then click back to illustrator.) I use a wireless external storage but I've used it for a long time and have never had this problem until now, I'm using Windows 10 and everything is updated. I've tried restarting illustrator and the computer. I don't know if I'm allowed to post a link to another forum disscusion but I saw on this forum another person who had the exact same problem but it's been a few months since the last post so I guess they never found a solution. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Hello is anyone experiencing continuous crashing on Adobe Illustrator

I've had this happen a few times over the past days. Most documents save fine, but sometimes a document gets stuck when saving (with the message "Illustrator is currently saving the document ... and will close it once the save process is complete") and the only way I can close Illustrator is by ending the Windows process. Any ideas? This is on 24.0.2 on Windows 7.

I have a problem with selection tool in illustrator. Sometimes when I select an object and move it, I can't release the object. The object is kind of "floating" on the canvas and my cursor doesn't work (can't click anything else and move super laggy). I have to click "esc" button on the keyboard to make the cursor works again but it made the object goes back to their initial position. I found some advice to turn off dictation, I did that but the problem still persists. The problem arise when I update my AI into 25.0, but the problem still persists when I uninstall it and install the 24.3. What can I do to tackle this? Thank you!

the simple act of just viewing my work by pressing Shift + F instantly crashes my illustrator...its updated to the latest version , and it crashes even on the simplest designs with barely anything on the canvas  any suggestions to why this keeps happening?

+ says everything has no fill or stroke colour. Not in grayscale, I don't know what happened and exiting didnt fix it.

why is the feather effect going away when lowering the opacity? 

I'm creating some brochures to hand out on the street. My plan is that the brochure will be a half page size (8.5 in x 5.5 in) laid out two to a page where each brochure will be printed in portrait orientation (8.5 in tall by 5.5 in wide). (I.e. the text will be sideways to the page if you view the whole page in portrait orientation). I want to print them at Fedex Office on colored paper and have them cut them in half by Fedex. I laid out a flyer on a 8.5in tall by 5.5 in wide artboard and I'm happy with it. It includes text and two photographs, all in grayscale. (I'm saving money--B&W printing only, but on colored paper, probably blue.) I'm new to illustrator and the next task will be a challenge: lay two flyers side by side and prepare for printing. I know I need to respect margins but not sure how large they are. I know I need to center each flyer in its half of the page and account for the printer margin on three sides of the flyer, while having the flyers look c

Hello,I am trying to convert a solid fill object (see attached image) into a single line.The reason I want to do this is so that I can make the solid fill object thinner.If it was a single line, this would be easy, because I could simply reduce the stroke of the line and have control over how thin the line was.Is this possible please without having to re-draw it.Thank you.

ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR 29.71 SAVE AS WINDOWHOW TO RETURN OLD VERSION I DONT NEED OLD VERSION

It was running fine, then randomly stopped launching. When I try, it gets to the point of checking and initializing, then freezes. Always a different item that it's initializing when it freezes. What I have tried:Uninstalled from CC desktop and from Finder, reinstalled over and over and over.Used the Cleanup tool to remove Illustrator and CC desktopDeleted font cache using TerminalNo 3rd party plugins or anything else to remove, no scripts to launchRemoved Illustrator cachesRemoved beta versionRebooted several times System info:M2 with 16 gbSonoma 14.4.1System Monitor shows 9 gb free before trying to launchMonitor shows 12 gb used when launch attempt is in progress95 gb disk available, trash is empty, iCloud is nearly fullOther CC apps are installed but not running Searching here shows this has been an issue for years. Any suggestions before I give up and start using something else?

I recently installed the new CC 2018 and the font filtering isn't working. Keeps showing no results found, even for Arial and Helvetica fonts. How do I correct this issue?

Hi everybody, I’m looking for some help with image trace settings or failing that advice on reverting to an older version of Illustrator. Image trace on the new version (2025) is nowhere near as good as the last version, which I think was called Illustrator 2022. On the last version the setting just called “Photo” did a good vector of the image you want to trace. In the new version the setting “High Fidelity Photo” does a terrible job! As you can see in the examples here. The left image was traced in the pervious version and the right in the new version. This is making a right hash of my band’s poster. Does anybody know how to make the settings on the new one the same as the last version? and if not, can we go back to the old version of Illustrator? or is the update irreversible? Thanks for your help, Gareth
