Hallo Zusammen,ein Kollege hat mich gefragt, ob man Illustrator in Indesign bearbeiten kann.Ehrlich gesagt habe ich das noch nie gemacht, da ich meine Dokumente gleich in Indesign an lege.Hintergrund: Da mein Kollege kein Indesign hatte bis vor kurzem bat er die Firma, welche die Montageanleitungen erstellte, diese in Illustrator zu erstellen. Jetzt hat er Indesign bekommen und steht vor dem Problem, dass er sich in Illustrator nicht auskennt und die Dateien in Indesign ändern möchte. Gibt es da eine Möglichkeit, oder muss ich ihm die Datei in Illustrator ändern und dann ins Indesign kopieren und abspeichern?

V15.0.2 I’ve noticed a strange behaviour: only on some pages and with some elements i either cannot manually override (Mac; Shift+Command+click) single items at all,or, when it’s possible, they duplicate and the locked object from the master page stays locked. Unlocking will spawn 10+ items of the same object, the original can’t be deleted. Neither is it locked on the master page, nor is the option "Allow Master item overrides" deactivated, nor is the layer locked.Reading a bit about this version, i gather it’s a bug. I CAN override ALL items and delete single objects, so it’s only a minor nuisance, but of course in certain situations this can come back to bite you in the ass. Any help appreciated!cheersHarry 

Ich habe immer wieder das Problem, dass eine Hintergrundaufgabe, in diesem Fall die Suche nach einer Schriftart, den Export als pdf behindert. Die Hintergrundaufgabe kann nicht abgebrochen werden und nach nochmaligem öffnen geht das ganze wieder von vorne los. Was kann ich hier machen.  

Hello,I have a design where half of the spread in covered in a gray box. On top of that box I have a client's signature scanned, converted to transparent PNG and have used the black (ink) version and the inverted or white (ink) version for several years without issue. Today however, when the client requested to have the white version instead of the black, InDesign would load the image but it will not display. What's odd is that if I drag the image frame on to the past board, I can see it fine. Also, while on the paste board if I create a colored box underneath the PNG, it disappears again. I have tried saving the PNG file as a TIFF or PSD and I still have this problem. Please help I'm under deadline. Black version works fine. White version dropped in and it won't display. White version dragged over to the paste board. Please note, the frame is on the top layer in highest order, it should display over the gray box. Black box added at the back of the order below the P

Hello.  For the first time, I'm trying to lay out a print ad in InDesign rather than Illustrator. I'd like to wrap my body copy around the subject of an image. I saw that InDesign should have a feature called Intelligent Subject Detection. I've followed the steps shown here, under the heading "Wrap text with intelligent subject detection", but I do not have access to "Contour Options". I have my body copy in a text frame. I have the main image filling the entirety of the live space and bleed using a graphics frame. Text frame is floating above the graphics frame. I have only the text frame selected.  I am using InDesign 16.4 on a early 2013 MBP Retina running macOS 10.15.7. I'm hoping the solution is a simple thing I am overlooking. Thank you in advance for your advice. 

I am trying to add dot leaders preserving the right tab, so that the line ends with "sq ft" as right aligned. I am not sure how to approach this. Thanks. 

Hello,  I have looked arround for information regarding making an InDesign plugin which comprises of a user interface panel and some buttons to run scripts. (Yes, the scripts could be run via shortcut, however a formalised pannel would be a nice goal).  I have looked at the documentation and there is and there is a query close to mine here https://forums.creativeclouddeveloper.com/t/what-to-create-a-plugin-panel-that-has-multiple-buttons-to-run-scripts-i-have-developed/8014 However it was not much help to me.  Any suggestions would be ace.  Best,  Smyth

Affects: Indesign 19.5 and 20.0.1 (across iMac and Macbook Pro)Steps I tried to resolve issue:Reinstalling latest Indesign (20.0.1), restarting my iMac, reverted to a previous version of ID (19.5), copied the file to my desktop to open from there, started a fresh document and tried to create new Styles (doesn't let me), opened another document which has styles that worked (they also don't work any more), deleted preferences, and finally I have updated my iMac and that hasn't fixed it either.Expected result:Font Styles panel should work as it should be (and as it did 3 days ago before the weekend. Have no idea what has changed!) in that you click on a Style and it applies it instantly. I should not have to Right Click/Apply Style. Actual Result:Cannot select or apply styles from the Style panel. Clicking on the style in the panel makes the selected item flicker, but nothing gets selected or applied and it stays the same default font. I can only change the style if I right click on

Some days ago I made the recommended InDesign updats. Now the system dose not allow me to open files I created, saying they have been created in a newer version. I can convert them or update again, yet updates are not available anymore... seams the system loops me around. Any suggestions how I can fix that? Thx 🙂   {Renamed By MOD}

Hi. Me and my coworkers are are Sequoia 15.1.1 and 2025 Indesign.  We all have been having wierd images all over the place and can't figure out if its a server problem or a adobe problem.  A few things we have run into:Working in Indesign - images have purple or blue lines going through images.  It comes and goes.  When opening up images, it says disk error, error reading files metadate.  It seems like images are corupt. Sometimes we can't even open up the indesign file.  But when another coworker opens up the file and images they are fine.   I'll attach all of our errors we had in one day.We also had one of our editors say that incopy was acting strange/images showing up black.We have tried empting out our cache, preferences and thinking of going back to Indesign 2024.   Anyone have any thoughts if this is a adobe problem or server problem or both? This is driving us nuts.thanks!

I often use GREP to separate one text frame into several frames, but in the latest version when I do this, the frames after the first one (or second one depending on the case) are empty.Let me explain a bit better:Let say I create a text frame with the text "x x x x x" (without the ") in it, and with GREP I replace each space with a frame break using the Replace All function, then go to my frame, click on the red + and chain a new frame, I get a frame with the next x, as it should but the next frame is empty, the one after is also empty, and the last one has xcxcx in it.The exact same method in the previous versions (up to 19.5.1) gives me 5 frames with an x in each.Do you good people experience the same problem?

Hello, I already made the numeration to the pages in the master pages, however when I go to the normal pages the objects get on top, can that be changed? Currently using the latest InDesign (2025)

We have been finding that InDesign is not following instructions when it creates a package. It creates files that may be too big or too small. We are using InDesign 2022. Is anyone else enountering this problem? Using a package script appears to be consistently using the right settings.

Not even within our license. Indesign claims (attachment transcribed from Dutch):    No access for review. You cannot create or update a review share since you a not the owner of the review. Please save this as a new document to create your own review. Easy to write, but we do not want to bother our customers (stakeholders) by sending them new URLs for all their review links. In addition, duplications of InDesign documents can cause production problems if wrong versions are processed.&nbs

Hi All,I am experimenting with liquid resizing. I want to use object-based liquid page rule because it works best with all of my page elements except for font size in my text boxes. How do I get my font size to scale up with my resize using liquid layouts without using liquid page rule scale?Thanks for any tips!

Hello! I hope all is well. have tried all adobe articles on InDesign troubeshoots, crashed files, damages files. But I can't seems to open the InDesign file, and when I click on it is says "Cannot add data to "file name" the file "name" is damaged. (Error code: 6). I have tried to drag and drop the InDesign file here because I was able to save it to desktop. The damaged file started after I exported the InDesign file as a print pdf actually. I am using await app.open(file.nativePath) to open files in a for loop. Is there anyway to open a file without getting this prompt? Some sort of parameter or command?   

Is there a way to markup a document in InDesign with dimensions?Much like you can do in a drafting program, like AutoCAD.See sample screenshot below (made in AutoCAD).
