Hello!There is an issue I am experiencing where when a page is deleted that used to have structure somehow has one piece of the structure thinking there's still a document element attached to it.Does anyone have advice on how to detect these items? I think maybe they all have "XMLStory" as the page-element parent at the top of it all, just thinking. I would like to create a method that can be fed an XML element, and it needs to find its XML parents all the way to the top, and return true if the parent of the xmlContent is an instance of XMLStory.Apparently the ones which do not have a representation in the pages are called "XMLStory", which under it has some kind of all valid elements even if they are not on the document pages.I found some issue which may be a bug, where indeed I was getting a false positive with the parentTextFrame technique for one item and sure enough, when I visited it in the XML Structure panel, it had a "Go to Item" menu option available.However, clicking this o

In the menu bar there are different tabs, like File, Edit, Layout, etc. When I click on File, I see the options of File - but when I want to click on one of those options, the screen automatically jumps to the tab on the left. So when I click in the menu of Layout, I go to the menu of Edit. And because of this, I can't select any options from the menus of 'Window' and 'Help'.Does anyone know what's wrong and how I can change this? Thanks!

I would like to increase the size of the quotes only using Nested Styles.This is the output I would like. It may contain more than 1 sentence.“This is a test of nested styles. Also there are multiple sentences.”I tried but it is not working. Screenshot attached.I want just the quotes to be in bigger size. I have achieved this with GREP style but client wants Nested Style.  

Ich bräuchte Hilfe. Wenn ich im Indesign Text schreiben möchte, kann ich die Leertaste für ein einfaches Leerzeichen nicht nutzen. Hier brauche ich dann immer die Hochstelltaste um ein Leerzeichen machen zu können. Das zurückstellen der Voreinstellungen hat auch nichts genutzt. So kann ich keine Texte schreiben! Kann mir bitte jemand helfen, wie ich das beheben kann? 

In Indesign, when I click on a letter, the cursor goes to the left of that letter instead of the right. This happens even if I click at the right most side of that letter. Usually, if you click on the left side of the letter, the cursor goes before it and if you click on the right side, the cursor goes after the letter. This was the case since I have been using indesign, but after update to CC2019, this problem has started.

I am trying to paste a line in arabic from a word document into indesign. In the word document it is aligned correctly right to left. When I paste it into indesign it changes the order of characters to back to front and sticks to it even when i change the character direction to right to left. All it does is that it aligns it to the left or right. But the order of digits is still back to front. I have installed the arabic version of Indesign. What else can i do? This is the example. Hallo Community Wir haben ein merkwürdiges Problem mit Querverweisen im InDesign. Genauer gesagt, wollen wir auf Überschriften und Bildbezeichnungen verweisen, bei denen eine Grafik im Text der Überschrift platziert ist. Es handelt sich um Bedienschritte auf einer Benutzeroberfläche bei denen auf der Tastatur einige F-Tasten gedrückt werden müssen.Wir haben für jede F-Taste ein kleines PNG-Bild erstellt, so dass die F-Tasten nicht durch Text, sondern durch ein Bild der jeweiligen Taste dargestellt werden.Dies funktioniert in den meisten Fällen ohne Probleme. Aber ..... Bei einigen Referenzen werden die Grafiken im Verweis nicht angezeigt, sondern durch Leerzeichen an der Position der Grafik ersetzt, während die meisten korrekt angezeigt werden. Alle Formate sind jedoch identisch (d.h. Absatz-, Objekt- und Grafikformate). Es gibt zudem das Problem, dass einige Verweise nicht aktualisiert werden können. Is there a VS Code Extension for UXP scripting for InDesign?

I am looking for a solution for when you paste content from other documents, to allow the duplicate color swatches to not transfer over creating a messy swatch panel. It seems that even though I have the color in the document, it will add a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. version of the same color. I would like to just paste information without having all of the duplicate colors copying over. Is this possible? Thanks!

Currently the only InDesign version available for Windows on Arm devices is the Beta version 19.5. I've been using it just fine for a few weeks but I am now getting the "Your InDesign (Beta) build has expired" message and am unable to continue my work.   I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling inDesign, and also restarted my computer with no success.   How can I continue to use this product?   Device info: Microsoft Surface Pro 11 with snapdragon X Elite     <Title renamed by MOD>

Tried everything - nothing is working. Even this forum doesn't seem to work properly.To put it simple - bought and paid for a subscription but out of the blue the software locked me out with a "Cannot Connect to Creative Cloud" error. Uninstalled everything Adobe related after trying everything in troubleshooting sections. Upon reinstalling CC, managed to install InDesign, but still getting that 109 error. Error 109 and "Contact Service Support"macOS Catalina 10.15.5  

I'm replacing em dashes with en dashes, which would normally be a simple find/change, but I'm not sure how to make it specifically a nonbreaking space for the first space and regular space for the second.   word – word The en dash can't break after the first space; it has to remain with the preceding word in case of a return.How to achieve?

Hi all, I hope you are well! I'm just a little rusty with InDesign, and I can't figure out why the spacing on these 2 different paragraphs is different. They are both the same settings with 0 space after on the line before, yet one is further away than the other!      <Title renamed by MOD>

I am reopening this discussing as the one by @rickburress on Apr 30, 2018 is closed. And the problem still occurs, even after re-installing InDesign (19.0) on a complete new macBook (OS 14.1.2)! See video. When I copy a textbox with Dutch text and paste it into a new document the language suddenly flips to Arabic. I do'nt have Arabic installed! Also the text alligns to right with "international adobe composer alinea"!? It seems to happen with documents made with a previous version of InDesign. Not with new made documents. But hé, I have got loads of those versions. I just want to copy texts. Saving the 'older' document to an ixml file and re-openinng them does not help.

The numeral '5' on my PC Number Keypad isn't working in InDesign.  I haven't thoroughly explored all of my other Adobe applications and will test on the rest of Creative Cloud to see if this same error occurs elsewhere.  This error does not show up on any of the Microsoft applications or web browsers on my PC.  The '5' does work on the top row of the QWERTY board, but simply doesn't function at all on the number keypad.  I have updated everything on my PC. Newest drivers are all installed.  Lastest firmware is installed.Running Windows 10 Pro 10.0.19044 Build 19044 on a Dell XPS 8900. Microsoft Keyboard 3050.

Hi, all! I'm struggling with something that seems like an easy fix, but I haven't been able to figure it out!   I'm making worksheets for students and figured I'd insert interactive text boxes in case students want to fill the worksheets out on their computers instead of printing and writing. The PDFs work fine when I open them in Adobe Acrobat, but we realized that if opening the worksheets in a browser, the text they enter either disappears when they click out of the field, or if the field is wide enough, it will display some of the text, but it will be at the bottom of the text box and the rest of the lines will be cut off. I'm testing this in Google Chrome, so not sure if this happens in other browsers as well.   I tried making the boxes wider and setting the font size to "Auto", but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Also tried updating Chrome in the hopes that maybe it was a weird browser issue, but that didn't make a difference, either. It's pretty likely that stu

Hello,I have a problem with the footnote reference. It shows me that the superscript at the end of the paragraph doesn't have the font as the text has so the footnote reference is a small red-ish selection of an box with an inside.I tried using paragraph styles and changing the font, but it doesn't work. Also, I found nothing helpful to Document Footnote Option box.The other problem is that because the footnote reference is 'missing' or 'unknown', the text at the bottom of the page it jumps to another footnote number and makes a mess down there.The only option for this is to do it manualy or is it there another way?Thank you

Ho problemi su bordi e ombreggiature. Nel file InDesign imposto gli scostamenti e gli angoli. La visualizzazione sul file è conforme, ma l'esportazione in EPUB scorrevole non tiene conto delle impostazioni. Il testo resta attaccato al bordo e gli angoli sono rettangoli e non arrotondati.Mi aiutate?

Hi folks,  I have a problem with printing from PDF created in InDesign. On one page, and this has never happened to me before, a strange icon is printed that isn’t in the original InDesign file, and I can’t figure out what it is. This only happens on one page. Bonjour, Il arrive que des césures tout à fait normales dans le fichier Indd se transforment en lettres barrées dans le pdf, après l'exportation. Je ne sais pas si c'est un problème lié à mes polices (Adobe) ou à autre chose. Quelqu'un a-t-il déjà rencontré ce problème ? Merci de vos réponses et d'éventuelles idées.Stéphanie

Two challenges:1. I have an interactive PDF i am creating using InDesign 2019 (ver 14.02 x64), with a few "click here to show/reveal this" use of buttons. When one of the button icons is clicked, and the reveal pops up, the two "button" icons which I have enabled on the page (which should be appearing now behind the pop-up reveal) are actually coming to the front of the page.  I have put this down to 'bugginess' of Interactive PDF viewing in Acrobat Reader DC (version 2020.006.20034), but it could be something i am doing wrong. i have attached the exported interactive PDF page where this is appearing. I have tried a number of things: deleting the icons and starting again (making them buttons again), grouping all the text boxes and buttons so they are one, making sure EVERYTHING is 'sent to back' and only the 'reveal' window 'brought to front'.2. When a button is clicked (in the exported Interactive PDF, viewed in Acrobat DC), it becomes "highlighted" with a dotted line around
