Hi guys,Scripts are meant to help us doing repetitive and time consuming tasks, and I'm getting crazy about that one. So I'd willing to jump into wrting one. The thing is, starting from scratch isn't easy, especially when you're a begginner at scripting.So I'd like to gather advice before going anywhere. What is the problem :Filling the bleed manually. Very time consuming.On any document with some BG layout, the bleed has to be filled, we all know that. I use a lot of pictures and for some reasons I do not want put some part of them into the bleed area. Hi,   I am setting up a leaflet using a template I have been provided. There's 5 'pages' total, currently over 2 spreads and one page.   I want to change it so that the first 'spread' - which is a title page and back page, isn't a spread and is just individual pages. The file will likely be used digitally so this formatting makes the most sense, with the user viewing the title page at the beginning of the doc and the back page (with contract details etc) at the end.    I have tried to turn the spread into two pages by right clicking and deselecting ' Allow selected spread to shuffle', then have tried both duplicating and moving the page. When I duplicate it, the page gets added to the spread (so it appears as a spread of 3) and although the text carries over none of the images or formatting I had inserted previously does.    The other way I have tried is right clicking on the first page of the spread and selecting 'Duplicate page at the end of document' an

Hi community   Am getting constant spinning wheel issues with InDesign only.Mac OS is Catalina 10.15.4InDesign 15.0.2 MacBook Pro 2019   Spinning wheel appears every few seconds or so, lasting 20-40 seconds each time. InDesign is basically unusable.   I tried various suggestions from these pages: • Removed preferences and cache • Resaved a doc as IDML • Changed font in doc to Times New Roman. Disabled all fonts except system ones. Removed all Adobe Fonts. • Uninstalled InDesign without keeping prefs, then re-installed. • In new install turned off GPU Preformance, Preflight checking, set Display to Typical, no page thumbnails.    None of those helped. Then I stumbled across that turning WiFi off on my Mac will fix the problem. InDesign then runs normally with no hanging. If I then turn WiFi on again it will run properly for a few minutes, then the spinning ball comes back. When spinning wheel is showing, InDesign in Activity Monitor shows red and "Not Respo

Hi, I have created a customised adobe preset in InDesign called "Lowres with screenshots". I  want to use this preset as default when I am creating final package out of the InDesign file. Currently it is creating pdf taking default preset while creating the package . So I have to delete the pdf from the final package and create the pdf again using my customized "Loweres with screenshot" preset. Can anyone please suggest how can I set my "Lowres with screenshots" preset as default while creating final InDesign package, so that I dont need to delete pdf from the folder and create again using my preset? Thank you in advanceHimakara

I have worked hard to build myself a long list of GREP Search and Find query, but it got deleted after I restored a previous version of InDesign.Is there an option to save the entire list I created, and if not - why isn't such an option created? It's really required.     <Title renamed by MOD>

I use a special font, on which the two end-bracket characters ] } have a different image, which fits with others, and I do not want a line break after these symbols.But Indesign seems to consider that this is an ideal spot to start a new line.  Inserting a discretionary hyphen (before or after the sequence that I want unbroken) does not prevent it.  If there is a regular hyphen just one character later, InDesign nonetheless wants to break after the bracket. For example:  Hfh-RNa-B]b-Ga-is broken  Hfh-RNa-B]  b-Ga-(In this case, another couple characters could fit on the top line.)I have fiddled with hyphenation, turned it off, that doesn't fix it. (INDD doesn't add a hyphen, it doesn't think it is hyphenating a word.) I tried adding B]b to the user dictionary, that didn't help. Resetting language to All Languages didn't help. It does not happen with opening brackets, nor with < >Earlier INDD versions did not do this.But for now, is there any way to p

I successfully (sort of) used the InDesign Place function with a Word.docx for text and endnotes. But, it added 1,330 blank pages between the last page of text (p. 100) and the endotes. With the Type/Hidden Characters Shown, each page (except the endnote page) has a blue, hidden "#" mark showing  on the top left. What did I do? I also see on the first page of the text along with the # mark, there is a blue line along the top of the page horizontally, just under the page margin line. Also, on p. 101 after the last page of text, is the another hidden character, one with with a dot and and down button indicator.  Other than these hidden characters, the pages are blank. These are in the screen shots attached. This is the beginning of the 1,330 blank pages. So, I can manually delete the blank pages and be on my way, but if anyone can tell me what exactly I did here, I would like to avoid future problems. After this, I'm typing right into InCopy or InDesign. No more Word for m

I have what to me is a bizarre problem. I have created a document and added a Table of Contents. Everything has worked fine - all the TOC entries (3 levels) appear and are formatted correctly until I add a final text box with a top level format (Heading 1). When I update the TOC, this final entry disappears into the overset text. The final spread looks like this:but the last entry ('Acknowledgements') doesn't appear in the TOC or at least it's hidden in the overset text. I cannot get the last Heading 1 text entry to appear in the TOC. If I demote it to Heading 2 then it appears correctly under the previous entry: I have simplified things as much as possible to isolate the problem, removing any 'Keep' options for the TOC entries and removing any surrounding text. It seems no use to create dummy text boxes and try to follow the overset text - it never appears. I am stumped. Am I missing something obvious? Can anyone shed any light on what's happening and why I cannot get t

Ran into a strange old man who broke me extremely ......His table in word was in two columns, then I just followed his layout into InDesign. With his original table, the order was to end at the left column, then jump to the right column, and even when he went to the next page, he looked at the end of the column, then went to the right column on the previous page.When I finished the row:He again asked that each page require: order left column end, then go to the right column, before going to the next page of the left column. My current approach is to make the form a single text box, the frame is divided into two columns, the form of a column.Not to mention the fact that the conversion process is a bit of a pain in the ass and Indesgin runs slow after the conversion. Alignment is also a big problem Do you guys have any ideas on how to do this?Thanks.

Hello, J'ai un soucis avec Indesign depuis quelques temps. Ca devient assez urgent car c'est pour mon dossier de fin d'étude que je dois rendre bientôt.Voici les manipulation qui cause le crash:- recadrage manuel de page- export (peu importe le format)- remonter aux première pages (avec la barre latérale ou directement depuis l'onglet page cela ne change rien) J'avais un soucis de typo, j'ai donc fait le remplacement, j'ai également fait la manipulation Maj ctrl option commande au démarrage pour réinitialiser les paramètres, la boîte de dialogue est apparue et j'ai valider. J'ai relancer Indesign mais ça n'a rien changé.. Merci d'avances pour vos réponses... 

At the end of my document, I have a page with "Endnotes" on it. However, there are no endnotes, and shouldn't be.   When I want to delete it (really, when I want to delete its paragraph marker" I get a notice saying it will delete the corresponding references.    Is there any way to find the location of the marker it's referencing?   My goal is to delete this page, as my endnotes are consolidated within the story.   thanks   <Titile renamed by MOD>

I print A7 booklets using my own printer and A4 paper (that I am going to cut in 8 pieces of A7 pages, each), doing my own hand-made binding.How do I create A4 templates that have A7 templates incorporated in them so that I could edit each A7 page also separately, yet keep them incorporated in the A4 pages?Can InDesign do nested templates?The margins should cascade proportionally for both A4 and A7.Or I should just do A7 pages, and then when printing, choose to print them all on an A4, but how?I need both the A4 and A7 views because the full booklet will be cut out from multiple A4.

Tenho este texto configurado no InDesign em uma tabela dentro de um bloco de texto. Estou usando uma tabela porque preciso garantir que o texto na coluna da esquerda corresponda a parágrafos específicos na coluna da direita.Atualmente, as linhas da minha tabela se movem para uma página totalmente nova (deixando muito espaço em branco na página anterior) se o texto da coluna da direita ultrapassar uma página. Como posso fazer com que o texto/tabela se estenda/continue para a próxima página em vez de levar toda a linha para a próxima página? Existe uma maneira melhor de fazer isso sem usar uma tabela?TL;DR: Se você der uma olhada na imagem que anexei, como posso atingir o cenário "Sim" à esquerda? Atualmente, meu arquivo produz o cenário "Não" à direita.

I have a CC account and 2 Macs that I use it. I downloaded InDesign 2022 on the older one but now I need it on my newer one instead. But... it's not available in the 'older versions' list. I would have thought that the CC app would realise I've downloaded it before but seems to be 'machine specific' and only appears on that machines 'older versions'. Is there anyway to get the InDesign 2022 onto my newer Mac? I specifically need InDesign 2022 as my work haven't upgraded yet and I find IMDLs a bit of a pain. Any help appreciated. 

Hello, I have created the revelant and appropriate Paragraph and Character styles as required and am using them per best practices. However, there are some instances, when I wish to apply an override. I am using the latest version of CC, In-Design 19.5 x64. In the previous versions, we could select the paragraph style and then do a right click on the 3 horizontal lines in the panel that would open a menu where one could change Justification, Tracking, and other items for the selected item only. Am unable to open this menu panel on right-click.  

I pay for a student account for the adobe suite and I am trying to add Helvetica type for an Adobe InDesign assignment. How come I can't find Helvetica?

When I play the text animation in EPUB, the Text FX effects I applied to the text are excluded.I try slecting the text only within the text box so I can add the effects directly, but then I do not get any FX options just basic janky and boring HTML text effects. My cursor has all of the sudden started to disappear in Indesign when I mouse over any clickable frame in the control panel at the top. The grayed out boxes don't seem to have an effect. Only frames with a pop-up description. The cursor disappears when the description pops up.I'm running on a Mac, High Sierra, version 10.13.6 and the latest (as of October 11, 2018) version of Creative Suite and Indesign.Thanks,

Paragraph style font application failed.Oddly enough, I this font that I apply from the control bar is working. In the list of word weights, there is an extra [(R)], sometimes Regular becomes [Regular], and R does not have []. In the past, I often encountered this kind of style, mainly because after packing the file, the ‘Document fonts’ and ‘C:\windowns\Fonts’ directory in the packing directory conflict.But my document fonts have not been packaged. I am using someone else's file, has he ever packaged it? Previously, just finding and replacing fonts was fine, but today I tossed it around for a long time to no avail.I created a new document, recreated the paragraph styles, and everything worked fine!
