I'm using RoboHelp 2015 to create a .chm file that is called from within our application.  Yesterday our company pushed Windows Security update KB5011485 to our Windows 10 laptops, and now the help file has major issues.  (I have proved this update is the cause, because I was unable to temporarily uninstall it, but my company will be pushing it back onto my machine any minute now!)The file still opens but the formatting of the text is wrong in some places, graphic images and .shg images do not appear at all, and worst of all, after looking at one or two topics, it goes into a Script Error "loop" where an error message is presented and you can't get out of it (multiple error windows keep appearing after you try to click out of one).  Apparently the RH2015-generated chm runs a lot of functions that Windows has deemed insecure.Would updating RoboHelp fix this?  I greatly appreciate any ideas.  We have many clients using our product who rely on the help, so th

So sorry for such a dumb question, but there's no easy way to "open or export" an existing project without all the mess is there? What I mean by mess is that, we have so many folders, files that I know we don't need from the past at the "project level" directory where the .rhpj file is located. I mean I inherited so many files and I don't want to pick and choose what to delete from that folder/level. All I want is the ability to "start clean by opening it up (which I can), and export a new fresh clean files." Is there an easy way? Thank you all so much!

good morning, I am writing to you because, after modyfing a project, I sent the zip to a collegue of mine, who opened it locally and had some viewing problems. In particular, he cannot see margins and the font correctly within the project. It's no the first time we've shared zips, but it's the first time I've changed the text margins.We both have RH 2020 and view the content with windows 10.Could you help us?

Hello Everyone,Does anyone know the character limits for styles when starting a new topic?I am attempting to create Responsive HTML output by linking a Word document. One link to a Heading 2 style in my output navigation pane was broken and did not work, but the output did produce the HTML output. The navigation pane indicates the faulty link does indeed have the correct link address. I experimented a bit and shortened the title, relinked the Word document (started over) and the link in the navigation pane worked great.It appears the problem was the length of the title. I would like to communicate to our content producers to not create titles of excessive character lengths.Does anyone know what the character limits are?Thank you,Ken

I have a frameless output. I have about 10 chapters in the ToC that show up correctly on the landing page. I want to hide a few of them on the landing page but still have them show up in the toc in the left navigation.Is that possible?The hide in Toc option in the ToC properties hides it at both places the tiles/landing page as well as the ToC.

I have a frameless output with 10 tiles and each tile having an image.I have an assets > images folder that holds the 10 tile images png files.I am managing the tiles from the ToC. When I refer to the tile image from the relative folder for example /assets/images/image1.png the image shows up correctly in a local output. However, when I move the output to the web server the tile image doesn't show up.When I refer to the tile image with an absolute path ex/- https://server/assets/images/image1.png then the image shows up when I publish the output to the web server.Any idea why would the relative path now work from the server and work from a local output?

Is it possible to create a pertext link between the 2 children?  I have an abbreviation list in 'child A' that I reference in 'child B'. Good afternoon I am writing to ask you if there is the possibility in Robohelp to customize the templates of the tables to be inserted in the text. I tried through the content properties of the tables, but I failed.

I use Robohelp 2019 (not classic).I would like all topics when publishing to contain the script <script type="text/javascript" src="../../ehlpdhtm.js"></script> in the body like in Robohelp 2019 Classic. The intent is that some development has been done in the ehlpdhtm.js file and I would like it loaded in all topics.

I think I remember why I stuck with the Classic version of RoboHelp 2019.  I need to use RoboHelp 2020 for a new frameless HTML project because the skins etc seem better. So, I'm just looking now at converting existing white papers we put out in RoboHelp Classic 2019 to RoboHelp 2020 "while I'm at it" "in the off chance we can be done with Classic" and I'm coming up against all types of problems. Background: We store source in HTML just because I don't trust anything else and it also enables me to convert different content to different systems easier (through translation software, to other outputs if needed). I have been burned by having source be proprietory file types in the past and I don't really want to have all this managed only in Word because that always leads to problems converting back to anything "clean" in the future. Hi there,I'm working on Robohelp 2020, I have added conditional tagging for two of my contents and used Frameless and PDF outputs to execute, but the output looked different. I have applied conditional tags for a para and 2  points of bulleted lists but the content in the bulleted lists were removed and the bulleted lists icon appear in the output. I have attached the screenshots, please help me to fix this issue.

My RH2020 project includes a glossary with roughly 200 topics, all of which have at least one keyword entered in the Index section of Topic Properties. When I view the Index panel in RoboHelp, the keywords for all the glossary topics appear as expected. However, when I generate WebHelp that includes the Index and view the output, none of the glossary keywords appear in the Index. The rest of the Index entries are intact, as far as I can tell (there are hundreds of them). I have generated iterations of this project many times in the past without encountering this issue. The glossary topics do appear when I use the Search panel to find them.  Anyone have advice on why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?

I am new to RH. I created a CSS file that works just fine in HTML output. The CSS file uses many variables. I came to the conclusion that RH does not use the CSS as written. When I generate an HTML output and inspect the CSS file embedded in its assets folder, I find that all the variables have been replaced with their values, which is fine. There were other simplifications. SO, I replaced my original CSS file with the one embedded in the HTML output, and then generated the PDF. In this case, most of the styling was as expected. The notable exception was lists and a few issues inside tables. SO, (1) why can't RH use my CSS file as is and generate a PDF that agrees with the CSS? (2) I noted that the content shown in the RH editor looks fine with all the correct styling, including the lists. SO, if RH can display my content styled correctly in its own editor, why can't it do the same when it generates a PDF? At the very least, I would think that RH would preprocess th

Hi, Everyone. I'm trying to remove styles from text. Example: h3 or "disc" (bullets).  I've tried: In the Styles Menu I try "none" but that doesn't work.The "Clear Formatting" button in Content Properties. But that doesn't work either. Are those commands malfunctioning? Aren't they supposed to remove the styling?  My workarounds:  I end up either just cutting the text and pasting it back via "paste text only" (ctrl + shift + v). Or I delete the style tags in code view.  At least when removing "disc" style, I can expand the Bullets button and choose "None," and that works fine. But what about the rest of the styles? Thank you!

I have RH 2017 (latest), but I'm re-trialing RH-2020 to see if the printed manual generation is better or at least the same in RH 2020, Update 7. We have a large help project that in RH 2017 we generate by sections into .doc files and then post-process the doc files prior to public consumption. We generate by sections because our project is too large to generate everything in the TOC in a single go as MS Word typically hangs at some point, possibly from memory issues. Anyway, in RH 2017, you can choose a part of the TOC as your "Chapter layout". This is what we've done. However, once converted into RH 2020, these SSLs (single source layouts -- ie "Output Presets" in RH 2020) don't seem to behave the same. All them appear to reference the entire TOC. In fact, does RH 2020 even have the ability to export just a part of the TOC in an "output preset" like 2017 can? If not, is there a good workaround that works for people? 

Hi..We have recently migrated Project(A) (CHM Format) to RH Version 2020.4.173. And, we have separate  topic Project(B) in CHM format which we were maintaining separately. Now, we want to club/insert Project(B) into Project(A). Is there any easy way to just import chm extention file like a word file import and segregate the project topic.Thanks Chandan. 

Is it possible to generate 2 different Microsoft HTML(CHM) from the same source at the same time?I have a project that is already set with tags and such and I can general Interface1.chm with one set of parameters, and Interface2.chm by changing the parameters and output name manually.I do this because the program that this CHM is for, has 2 separate interfaces for the same underlying engine and each interface is only available to specific sets of customers and would like to click one button to generate both instead of manually changing the build parameters just in case I make a mistake and generate Interface2.chm with the parameters for Interface1.

I'd like to have a single topic that is a result of importing a word document that has a TOC (heading 1 through 4) structure. I tried importing the document through the import feature, but I can only replicate the Word's TOC by splitting it into topics and then using the "Map Word styles to TOC Hierarchy" feature. Yes, that creates the exact Word's TOC, but it also generates many topic files. I don't want that, because the problem with that is that my Word document has heading 2 directly after heading 1, and heading 3 directly after heading 2 with no text in between. And that's in many places. So when an end-user clicks on one of the TOCs he might only see a heading text, which will confuse him. In that case he should see recursively all the way to the first non empty text style, yet I reckon that is not possible, so I can rather have a single word document displayed as a whole and navigate it through the TOC's #id maybe? Hello, I use RoboHelp 2020. (Previously I used FrameMaker 2019 and RoboHelp Classic 2019. Then, in RoboHelp 2020, I upgrade the RoboHelp Classic 2019 project to rhpj. I also add new topics directly into RoboHelp 2020.) When clicking a context-sensitive Help button from Frameless output, I expect the Help to jump directly to the page to which it is mapped. Instead, it jumps to the Start page of the project (the Welcome page), then jumps again to the expected page. How do I get the Help to jump directly to the expected page? Thank you! 

Hello, Is it possible to publish Frameless output right from RoboHelp to GitLab? We are in need of an easier way to upload our Frameless Output for Online Help to a GitLab repository. Currently, we are being told to simply use the Command Line, but this is not possible in our department given our lack of knowledge on the process and support.

I'm re-trialing RH 2020, Update 7. I have a Word document I generated. According to RH, the output generates successfully. But when I open the .docx file, I get this "Word found unreadable content..." message: If I click Yes, I can then see the contents inside Word. The filename is named Document1. From a cursory view of the document, it looks like all the expected topics are there. Curiously, at the end of the log, there are some validation errors:  Merging 10_view_topics/Viewing_Path_Lines.htm... I'm re-trialing RH 2020, Update 7.In RH 2017 there's a handy Batch Generate feature where you can select a bunch of outputs to generate in a few clicks as shown here:Does RH 2020 have such a thing? I checked the anemic help they provide and don't see this option anywhere. Anyway, I'm testing generating 36+ presets and don't relish clicking build 36 times. Not a huge deal, but still...

RoboHelp 2020 provides several skins for Frameless output, but are there any functional differences among the various these skins (aside from TopNavigation) ? I'm just wondering what the reason might be to start with, say, Studio rather than Orange, when I'm going to have to redo the fonts and colors to meet corporate branding requirements. I can't really tell much difference in the output. (Apologies if this has been asked and answered; I couldn't find it anywhere.) And, related question (I think I know the answer but I'll ask anyway): Is there any kind of reference information that explains how all the settings in a skin are used? The Skin Editor is good as far as it goes, but it doesn't show every possibility for customization (maybe that's not even possible anyway).
