After Effects

!!! I had ongoing AE project on Friday so I decided not to upgrade AE to v26, cause I didin't want any surprises. But unfortunately, I upgraded Premiere to V26, and since Premiere was upgrading, it also upgraded Media Encoder automatically. Today I opened After Effects v25.6.4 and tried to import PSD file AS LAYERS (Composition / Composition-Retain Layer Sizes), as I always do, but to my surprise After Effects became unresponsive. I tried a few more times without luck.  I then thought that maybe it has something to do with the newest Media Encoder, since it was upgraded to the newest version, but After Effects was still on v25. So I updated After Effects to v26. But when I tried to import a Photoshop file as layers, it froze. If I choose to import PSD file as footage (not layers), it imports fine.  I tried to import PSD files that I have imported in the past without problems from my previous projects, and After Effects also froze, every

Hi all! So I am trying to split up a text layer so each word of the text layer can be set as a different font. I currently have the following expression set up but this just replaces the font of the entire text layer if there's 1 or 2 words. var PresenterText = thisLayer.text.sourceText;                var Style = thisLayer.text.sourceText.style; var words = PresenterText.split(" "); if (words.length > 1) { Style.setFont("Font-1"); } else { Style.setFont("Font-2"); } I know in AE 24.5 Beta there were a lot of changes to text expressions but I don’t know if this is one of the things that could have been implemented by this change. Thanks, any help would be appreciated!

Hi, I was working on a project in AE 2025.6, and I was using the Trapcode plugin (Form Effect) when an error popped up, and my AE crashed and won't get past the splash screen (stuck on intializing required components) and a black line appears around it (I'm assuming from the drop shadow). I've tried the following options so far:Removing trapcodeRemoving all plug-insdeleting preferencesstarting in safe modeupdating driversreinstalling aedeleting temp filesdeleting registry keysdeleting hidden filestrying to use an older version (won't get past the splash screen aswell)using creative cloud serviceand restarting my computer.etc I haven't seen anyone with the same problem as me so I'm feeling very discouraged. Hello everyone, The rotobrush tool won't work on this rush in .mov. I tried adjusting the sequence parameters, emptying the cache memory, using an older version of the rotobrush tool, installing the 25.0 version instead of the latest version, using proxies... Nothing worked at the moment, the brush does not affects the render.  My configuration is a M1 MacBook Air with 8Go of RAM. I know it's not the best but it worked great until now.. Thank you so much for your help, Alexis

First i thought is was the drone footage. Then tried mp4 vs prorez422. Same fps. Same comp size. Full quality preview. Detailed analysis. Clear cache. All has failed. ok, can i track a simple rotating square precomp in same size and fps?! NO!--AE 25.6Tahoe 26.1You want me to do this in Resolve? You got it, Adobe.   

I’m repeatedly getting “Unable to allocate memory” (Error 12803) while previewing and rendering, sometimes failing to allocate as little as 126–512 MB, which makes no sense given my system.This happens on relatively simple comps (text, credits), and never used to happen in older AE versions. It occurs both during preview and render, sometimes mid-render after a few minutes. I am using AE 25.5.  System specs:CPU: AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3970X (32-core)RAM: 128 GBOS: Windows 11 Pro (22H2)AE Memory available: 112 GBMulti-Frame Rendering: Enabled (issue also happens intermittently with it off)Disk cache is on a fast local drive, and memory preferences are correctly configured.This feels like a regression in recent AE versions, possibly related to MFR or memory fragmentation. Looking for confirmation, workarounds, or known bugs related to this behavior.

Hi, Each time i import footages into my project , the default interpretation is set to Rec 709.Most of the time, it shouldn't be converted as so. When I have a lot of footages to handle, i have to check this and change my interpretation to "preserve RGB" for every footage.  To avoid that, is there any way to change the default after effect's media interpretation ? That would be hell of a time saver !  Thanks  

Hey team, I have a vector file with a map that I'd like to animate on. Ideally have each individual circle scale up like a little 'pop', but not all at the same time? I have a layer with the vector file linked, and another layer set as a solid with the circle masks pasted onto them.I could manually animate all 223 circles, but that is time I'd rather spend on the main video edit. Is there a quick solution here? I'm comfortable in AE but no guru.Thank you!

La prévisualisation est hyper lente, même quand mes animations se résument à des anim de positions ou d'échelle, au point qu'il est presque impossible de correctement les synchroniser. Ma config date seulement de septembre et je pensais qu'elle était correcte donc je suis assez perplexe sur la situation. I can't find the option "Set path keyframes" in AE 2026, it was previously found under "animation". Is it gone or does anyone know where it is now?

I have just realized that with 2026 update, my older versions of After Effects are missing. I tried to find 2024 version in older versions, but only 2025 is there. Is there a way to find and restore my installation!?

Hello! I have a 168px x 48px After Effects file, and when I place a png of the same dimension it's pixelated, and then when I post a png of double the pixel width it's still blurry. The viewing resolution in After Effects is set to Full so it's not that. I don't know what to do!! Thank you! 

I want to have particles emitted from a line rather than a single point. ChatGPT suggested having the emitter point travel continually along the line at high speed to fake the look. But all of the expressions it gave me failed. Can this be done without an add on? Are there better ways?

Hi everyone,I’m trying to recreate a logo animation where the stroke ends with a diagonal similar to a chamfered edge.I’m currently using a Shape Layer with Stroke, Trim Paths, Taper to Start and End WidthI can make the stroke end “pointy”, but the cut is always perpendicular to the path. What I’m looking for is a true diagonal end on the stroke itself, not a symmetrical taper.I’ve already tried editing the path points taper settings Line caps / joins (butt, miter, round and multiple Trim PathsI want to be sure I’m not missing something obvious.Thanks in advance.

AE 25.6.4 appeared about a week ago and the What’s New and Fixed Issues pages both still refer to v25.6.0 and have last updated dates of November 13th. I see Premiere and Media Encoder are in the same boat with outdated help articles, which makes me think it’s some minor shared library or security update for all 3, but some solid information—even if minor—would be appreciated. Eager to see when the 2026 releases will be out of beta, too 🙂

I have a MacBook M3 Pro, and I am still receiving this message when importing AEP files. When I open the file, I also encounter this type of message. I am experiencing the same issue with PNG and MOV files. To be honest, I find it very disrespectful that Adobe does not provide a manual crash report option or an error report generator to better understand what is going wrong. 

The advanced 3D description and AE support page both say that advanced 3D now casts shadows from spot and parallel lights, but the option is greyed out. Is this a bug in the current main release, showing information from the beta that isn't actually supported yet?  And yes it is checked on in this example but only because I had it turned on when testing environment lights. If I turn it off on environment it turns off in the greyed out spot light as well. See working environment shadows vs no spot light shadows for proof:
