After Effects

Hello everyone! I’m experiencing a bug in After Effects: when I open Extension 1, then dock it, and afterwards open Extension 2, there’s a problem — when I close Extension 1, Extension 2 also closes for some reason.Sometimes the UI (user interface) of Extension 2 even disappears.Does anyone know why this happens?

I’ve experienced this issue multiple times, even when I’m not doing anything heavy — just working with 2-3 image layers. After Effects often freezes (especially when I press Alt+Tab to switch between windows), and then crashes. My monitor goes black for a few seconds and comes back on with the error message:"After Effects crash: can't continue. Encountered a GPU or graphics driver issue."This is incredibly frustrating. It doesn’t just happen occasionally — it happens frequently. And from the number of posts about this issue, it seems like it’s been going on for a long time.But so far, there’s been no real action from Adobe. The usual suggestion is to switch to “Mercury Software Only”, but honestly, that doesn’t solve anything.Please, this is exhausting to deal with — is there any real fix or update on this?

Hi, I want to create animation for fulldome format and searching for the best solution for my project. It will be abstract animation based on music, something similar to this Tamara Qaddoumi - Flowers Will Rot on Vimeo. But do not such "flat", maybe with combining 2D and 3D animation (for example, I want use the scene with flying through the starfield). I found that After Effects will be the most suitable software for me, because it has embedded VR tools with fulldome converter. But later I get in stuck when was searching how to do such "flow" animation in After Effects. I had done a couple of motion design tutorials, but someone told me, that animation mentioned above has been created in Adobe Animate. And now I am really frustrated and do not know what do. I am a beginner in animation, but have an experience with graphic design and worked in Indesing, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier Pro, 3dsMax. So If you can help/advice how to deal with my problem I will be very grateful.

Hoping someone here may see and be able to help. I'm creating a dome animation with a 2D graphic background. It seemed straightforward. 2D source Input to Fisheye(Fulldome) but I'm getting a ton of pinching on the top and bottom. My input comp which has a very grid-like background is 4096x4096 with lots of animation, again, mostly 2D with some video and images, nothing crazy. See the image for the pinching at the polar coordinates. Also strangely, when my comp that has VR converter applied on it which is 4096x4096, VR converter shows nothing, when I set it to 4095x4095 it seems to work. Any tips would be appreciated.Also, the footage is not built as a 360, the grid is not perfectly seamless and it causes issues when created in a 6 sided box environment and animation would be much more difficult to have to map into a full 360 space.

I'm trying to run multiple render threads with aerender.exe and it seems the "software only" setting in the project is being ignored.  As soon as I start the renderings, the GPU usage goes crazy and after a short time it crashes and reboots the computer.  I used to render this way on a regular basis and aerender would always use the GPU setting in the project file.  It seems like it no longer does that and I can't find a parameter that controls it via the command line with aerender.exe. How do I disable GPU rendering when using aerender.exe?

After Effects 25.4 keeps re-rendering the timeline AFTER I've done a Ram Preview.For example, in the image below I rendered part of my timeline then set the Work Area to only that section. When I hit the space bar to watch it, it re-renders! It won't just play it. wtf is going on? After Effects has never worked like this.This has been happening in every project for months. It's like I have to have my Work Area set before starting a render because if I stop the Ram Preview before it reaches the end of the Work Area I have to re-render the whole thing. Sometimes, if I quit and restart After Effects it'll work like normal again, simply playing the parts I've already rendered. What's going on? Is this a bug? I can't imagine this is intentional. After no issues with this workflow in 2024, my switch to 2025 has uncovered something strange. I seem unable to import image sequences, regardless of their origin.I have made a screen recording of the beahvious with a PNG sequence from blender, but the same result occurs with JPEG or PNG or DPX sequences from premiere/AE or any other image sequence.... and these same sequences all import into 2024 no issue.AE won't even acknowledge there is an image sequence to import, until I set file type manually. However, even after that, when I try to import, it argues the file type (it reads it as "") despite the .png being present (I cannot see it in the AE import window, but it is there when the name is checked in properties).Youtube link to behaviour:https://youtu.be/_cOTsLaVzi4Very curious. After activating a font at Adobe Fonts Online wonderful Font Collection, there pops up a Message from Windows, that the fonts are added.But in AE they are not visible in the Font Menue. After Restarting AE, they are shown there. This is not very nice, while trying lots of fonts for finding the right one for a Project...It would be Absolutely fantastic, if this could be fixed!!! Version 25.1.0 (Build 68)Windows 11

Hi all. So I just updated all my apps (Photoshop, PremPro, AE, Acrobat) today, and the rest are opening fine, but After Effects keeps crashing on startup. I've tried restarting After Effects, my PC, reinstalling After Effects from Creative Cloud etc, but nothing seems to be working. Running Win11 24H2. I would upload a crash report or log (whatever it's called), but it's not in "C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\After Effects\25.4\logs" (see attached screenshot).

Macos 15.7.1 + apple magic mouse.previously to this update I was able to hit opt/alt & Mouse scroll (finger drag in case of magic mouse) to zoom in and out If I wanted to pan around the comp, I just swiped my finger around the surface of the mouse.this update utterly borks the entire workflow now i can EITHR ONLY pan or ONLY zoom when I swipe my finger on the mouse, regardless of hitting the key modifier. Adobe please fix.I'm getting tired of these unwanted and half baked updates to the UX nobody asked for

Hello Adobe Community,I've ran into a small issue while applying stroke Animators on certain type layers.It seems that on certain typefaces, or only certain weights of certain typefaces, the stroke doesn't generate completely correctly on some letters. In the example here it's the top end of the 'K' that gets tapered in a weird way. When converted to shapes in After Effects, the clipping of the stroke disappears. I don't know what about it being a type layer makes it behave this way. When converted to shapes in Illustrator the typography seems like it shouldn't have any issue to draw a curve around it, there are no double vertexes or other weird inconsistencies with it that would.This project needs to work with editable typelayers, so converting it to a shape layer is not an option.Does anybody have any experience with this? Know of any ways to resolve this issue?Any help would be much appreciated.Thanks in advance!

When I render a Cinema 4d scene to ProRes4444 (16 bpc, including alpha), some renders are not recognized in the Adobe ecosystem - After Effects and Adobe Media Encoder. Those apps simply say: ‘Could not open source file. Please check that file exists withcorrect permissions. ( 86 :: 1)’, and then ‘After Effects error: file '[filename].mov' cannot be importedthis 'Moov' file is damaged or unsupported.’ Premiere Pro says: ‘We were unable to open the file on disk.’ Other apps can import/play it without complaints - DaVinci Resolve Quicktime Player, Elmedia Player, Final Video Player, VLC, Does anyone encounters the same? Is there anyone who has a solution (other than workarounds)?

Howdy. I'm running a MacBook Pro 15, M4 with 48gb Ram, running Sequoia 15.7.1. Using the latest version of AE. I've had a project file stop loading randomly and will not load past 94% and AE stops respondng. I get no indication as to an error message or if a file is not working. I sent this file to another user and file can be opened on their machine but not on the original machine. I have just rebuilt the project again yesterday only for it to happen again this morning after I finished it. When I opened the Premiere project to render the beds the screens were blank so I opened AE to check and low and behold the same issue occured again. The first time it happened I re-installed AE, disabled all plugins and in safe mode, I have cleared the cache, I have doubled it's allocated ram from 12mb to 24mb and I've tried to open it in another new project to no avail. Dear Adobe Teams, I am developing custom filters for After Effects and Premiere Pro using the official Adobe SDK. From time to time, to prevent output artifacts such as flickering in the rendered sequence, I need to implement temporal smoothing—for example, combining results from consecutive frames. From my understanding, both AE and Pr use a multi-threaded rendering engine, meaning that my Render function may be invoked simultaneously for multiple frames in the sequence (meaning called from number of host threads). Could you please confirm if this assumption is correct? If so, I would like to know whether there is any mechanism or guarantee that Render calls are executed in frame order (i.e., frame 1, frame 2, frame 3, … frame N). This is critical for implementing temporal smoothing correctly, as it requires combining results from frame N with those from frame N-1. I saw this video and that effect was stunning and I tried to use Pixel Sorter because it was the only effect I was thinking about but wasn't a close result.

My 3D tracker is not working after two days of troubleshooting including completely uninstalling and reinstalling the program twice.  My 2020 128 GB mac is up to date as well as all of my Adobe software.  I have referenced every youtube video on how to 3d track/troubleshooting 3d tracking and I don't see any missed steps.  I've expereinced with various footage assumed to be best suited for tracking.  The footage I am most recently using is the the Adobe footage I downloaded form the Adobe's latest version of After Effects 'Classroom in a Book'.  It's the footage form the chapter that covers 3d tracking so, I assume at the very least this footage would track.  After analyzing track marks will appeaer but always in the same spot no matter what the scene or footage is.  Then those track marks stay in the same spot as if stuck to the camera lens as you scroll though the shot opposed to sticking to one spot in the scene as the camera pans through.  An

It looks like using the RED importer with MFR ends up using all RAM available. This is AE 2025.5 on Windows with 32GB RAM although it seems to happen on systems with more memory and longer clips as well. Create a comp containing RED footage (8K is a good test)Turn on MFRNote setting for RAM reserved for other applicationsAdd comp to render queue and render in AESystem RAM will reach 100% and system will slow down due to swapping. This is not occur with MFR off. Increasing RAM reserved for other applications doesn't help. Switching to Software Only doesn't change anything.
