Bug Reports

Tried several times to update to the latest version (5.0), and every time it got stuck at 94%. Upon cancelling, it got stuck again, and I had to force quit via Task Manager.I uninstalled it succesfully, deleted the corresponding folder in AppData/Roaming/Adobe, and tried to do a clean installation, only to get stuck again, repeteadly only this time it was on 88%. Cancelling the installation led to the process getting stuck once more.I'm running Win10 on a 3970X, with 64gb of RAM and a GTX1650, which uses the 560.94 drivers, and therefore shouldn't conflict with the process, as stated in another thread regarding the latest NVidia drivers.Running out of ideas, any suggestions are welcome.

I am new to Substance 3D, curious if anyone else has encountered this issue.  attempting to make a model from images.  New project --> Get content --> 3D capture,  and navigate to import 10 images (all in the same folder),  they import okay, but appears as 10 separate photogroups (not in a single photogroup).  "Submit" then generates error when generate mesh and aborts.  Curious if anyone seen this behaviour also and knew how to prevent or a workaround.  Many thanks! Version of the app  4.0.0Platform and OS version    Windows 11Basic steps to reproduce the problem      aboveExpected result and actual result            trying to prodcue model from images

opening up the app first time since update, all materials are black, nothing showing whether using starting assets, image to material ai etc.. set to use correct graphics card in Nvidia (1070) Please help, as auto renewal is coming up soon, I am paying for a product that no longer works.  Thanks.

Hello,  Is it possible for Crop tool to support more different channels? At the moment there are only a few: basecolor,normal,emissive,roughness and up to opacity. In total 9 channels. Is it possible somehow to add additional channels that will work in Crop Tool? For example, I would like to be able to work on Specular, Gloss, Translucency channels. But at the moment I have to crop everything beforehand in Photoshop but I would like to do all operations in Sampler. I'm using sampler 5.0.0

I saw in a friend's Window's machine too, Sampler in 3D Capture workflow does not render any images and shows Focal Length in pixels units (instead of mm) in the menu. Either an OS issue, or a bug?

Hey! I downloaded 3D Substance Sampler 4.3.2 but am not able to use the 3D Objects Feature. I'm using a Mac with Ventura 13.2.1 so I belive I should be able to use this feature according to the documentation. When I look at the 'Hardware Information' in 3D Sampler it says Mac OS Unknown version. Any help as to why I'm currently not able to use 3D object fearture would be greatly appreciated.

I want to convert a normal map to a height map. but adding a normal to height filter only gives my "Unsupported Layer - Can be removed".  Because i ran into this issue i googled on how to use this filter, because the online help is really bad. And i found a video where the normalmap is imported as texture and the filter is added and it works. - I only get this error. not sure if this is broken in the programm.im using sampler 4.5.2

Hello,I am encountering an issue while attempting to create a 3D model. I consistently receive an error message indicating that my images could not be aligned properly. Unfortunately, this affects the majority of my images—only 5 out of 42 aligned successfully during my last test. Despite multiple reshoots, I have been unable to create a model. For context, I am using a Sony A1 camera in a professional studio with consistent, even lighting. I shoot with a tripod and a turntable, along with a stand for the product. All photos feature an unobstructed white backdrop. The images, saved as JPGs, have been processed both with and without masks. I have also experimented with normal and high-precision alignment, as well as default and sequential photo ordering, but none of these approaches have resolved the issue. Additionally, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program. I am currently using version 4.5.2. Could you please advise on how to resolve this issue?

Hi,I have just installed the latest version, 4.5.0 (before doing this I uninstalled the previous version 4.4.1 and restarted my pc).The release notes mention that the following issue is fixed - Applying a Dirt filter on top of Image to Material generates a black normal. However I am getting the exact same results I was getting previously (a black normal map when applying the dirt filter to Image to material... also  a black normal when appllying the dirt filter to a material downloaded from the asset store.).Here is a link to my previous thread... https://community.adobe.com/t5/substance-3d-sampler-bugs/dirt-filter-normal-map-issues-v4-4-1-windows-10/idc-p/14744580#M462Thanks

Have the Surface Relief presets been removed in 4.4.1? I've seen them in tutorials but they dont show up for me.

Hi,I thought this had been fixed in the latest version... but have just found another bug with it. When I create a material using image to material and add a dirt layer... the normal map ceases to exist. (see attached images).I was just following the "How to Use Generative Tools in Sampler for Fast Iterations" video on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YD3tPlO5h3gIt works on the video when he adds the dirt filter (go to 4:04 to see).  However, it says the filter needs to be updated, which shows that the video example uses the previous version of the dirt filter.Can you please test and confirm this is not just happening at my end.Thanks.

Hi,I have found that some materials from the Substance 3D Assets site which I was able to import in previous versions of Sampler are now failing to import using all of the following methods...1. Drag the sbsar from Windows explore into the 3D view2. Drag the sbsar from Windows explore onto the layers panel3. Drag the sbsar from Windows explore into AssetsYour assets panel4. Add the material using the + button in the assets panel.No errors appear on screen, pc does not freeze or hang. Hi,I imported an image to the 'Your assets' section in the assets panel and used it as a pattern on a material, saved the .ssa and closed Sampler.Not happy with the image I imported, I proceeded to make further edits to it in Photoshop and overwrite the original version of the image.Opening the .ssa file again I noticed the image had not updated in the 3d viewport, 2d viewport, or when exporting the PNG texture. Right clicking on the image asset in the assets panel brings up the path where the asset is stored.... C:\Users\username\Documents\Adobe\Adobe Substance 3D Sampler\yourAssets. I then closed Sampler and overwrote the image in this folder with the newly edited one.When I opened Sampler again I saw this still did not update the image asset.  I cleared all cache files (both textures and thumbnails), closed Sampler, reopened the file.... and STILL it was using the original version of the image (both in the viewport and exported as a PNG texture).Then I noticed that th

This is what I got: from this source image (png) Default settings, just opened Sampler, dragged image onto the sphere, picked AI image to material, default settings. Not only material is broken, it uses arbitrary resolutions - I selected 2k for document  size, input image is 2k, yet it used 5k for image and I can't change it - it's greyed out:   

I have tried adding the updated dirt filter to fabric but it isn't visible when added as a layer. I know there has been issues with this filter recently, has that been fixed now? Otherwise if I have my settings wrong please advise 🙂 Have included images to show before and after filter is the same. I am on 4.4.0 but I updated the dirt filter when prompted 

Hi, I am receiving this error message every time I add a filter like Dirt, Water, Color variation or color replacement. Imposible to create a material. I am working with a Mac Studio M1 ultra. I have deactivated the option of GPU in the seccction of Machine learning of preferences. Could you please give me info to solve the problem.  Thanks in advance. 

Whne trying to open a file in Substance Sampler , either directly from the file, on the recent list or using the file open command Substance Sampler closes.  I would prefer to avoid recreating files. I also just had a problem with the Beta version not importing a custom filter. I've attached my log for refernce. Also, the eyedropper is not working on my extended display, it will only show black regardless of the color I'm over.

Hi guys !The new feature Text to Texture works fine, however i get message " Something went wrong, Please try again later. " when using Image as reference. Anyone encountered this issue ? 

As you see, I move Cloth Weave to my layers, and an expected error has occured.Maybe, for more a month. Time didnt solve my problem. So anybody save me!(All eccepting Cloth Weave, is working.)

I can't see any difference when siwtching my project settings from OpenGL to DirectX when outputting a Normal Map.I think, this is a bug and should be fixed. I compared two Normal Map Exports. One is Exported with DirectX and one is Exported with OpenGL.The Normal Maps are 100% identical.It only exports with DirectX and OpenGL doesn't seem to work.I was running a test and checked the map inside a game engine, that's using OpenGL.And yes, the shadows are upside down, shows that the export for OpenGL ist not working even when the project is setup with OpenGL.Please can you check and let me know if you can reproduce that issue?DirectX ExportOpenGL Export:

Hi wanted to report a bug that I encountered when autoloading plugins from the folder specified by SAMPLER_PLUGIN_PATH. If the zip file is still in the SAMPLER_PLUGIN_PATH folder when you start Sampler and the plugin has already been installed, Sampler crashes.  As a workaround I've included code in my plugins to remove the zip file after the plugin has been loaded. See more details in this post:https://community.adobe.com/t5/substance-3d-sampler-discussions/is-there-a-way-to-automate-plugin-installation/m-p/14441319#M1461 Also separate question. I noticed that if I try to use python's print function on python objects in Sampler, it doesn't print anything in the Sampler log window, like it does for internal types like str, list, or dict. See below for an example: class MyObject(): object_attr = "attribute" x = [1,2,3] y = {"a": "b"} z = MyObject() print("printing objects") print(f"x = {x}") print(f"y = {y}") print(f"z = {z}") output: printing objects x = [1, 2, 3] y = {'a': 'b'} z =   Normally I would expect something like: z = <__main__.MyObject object at 0x10849b040> as it is, it makes it a little more difficult to debug things using the log output and for a while I thought something was broken in my code when it was just the print statement that was not printing the info I expected.

I presume this is some sort of bug. Here you can see I have a functional opacity. But when I export as an SBAR the opacity map is not included despite seemingly assigned in the properties.This is very annoying.
