Add a "Restore Clip Selection" functionOpen for Voting

Current Problem:When individually Shift-click selecting multiple Clips, it is very easy to lose that selection Needed Change:Add a “Restore Clip Selection” function that will recall the last batch of Clip selections that were made. Why It’s Important:If, while selecting Clip Boundaries, a Clip is accidentally selected, those Clip Boundary selections can be recalled with “Restore Trim Selection.” There is currently no “Restore Trim Selection” function for Clips, so if a user clicks a Clip Boundary or clicks off into an empty portion of the timeline, those Clip selections are lost. Sometimes, individually Shift-clicking and selecting Clips takes a lot of time. Playback of the Timeline, and other actions, can be made in-between selections. Losing a selection of Clips happens often to all users and wastes a lot of time, especially when working quickly. Making selections is an essential part of the work that we do. Losing a selection is like deleting work that is completed and has to be redone. We need a way to recall Clip selections to improve the speed at which editors can work. This job is very demanding and attention-heavy. Making a very simple and easily repeatable mistake decreases moral and enthusiasm for the work and the NLE platform of Premiere. This change is a highly desired, effortless programming alteration which will ensure the reduction of countless hours of wasted time while working in Premiere.

Change Selection Tool to prevent Clip Boundary from being selected while selecting multiple ClipsOpen for Voting

Current Problem:When (Shift) selecting multiple Clips or Clip Boundaries, the Selection Tool allows the other to be selected, which deselects all individually selected Clips or Clip Boundaries. Needed Change:While the Shift key is being held in order to select multiple Clips (or Clip Boundaries), prevent the Selection tool from being able to select Clip Boundaries (or Clips) until the Shift key is released. If the Shift key is held down again, in order to add more Clips (or Clip Boundaries) to the selection, only allow the current item being selected to be added to the current selection, until the Shift key is released again. Playback Output To Monitor For Vertical And Other FormatsOpen for Voting

This has been a long time coming. When Premiere Pro outputs playback for ‘unsupported frame sizes’ to a broadcast monitor or client monitor via SDI/HDMI out of I/O hardware (Blackmagic in particular), it stretches the image to fit 16:9 streams. In this day and age, vertical and other frame sizes, 9:16 4:5 1:1, should all be supported. I wish Premiere Pro would, through a setting, automatically add pillarboxes to embed these frame sizes into the 16:9 stream out to the monitors. Yes, there’s a work around for this, but adds to a cumbersome workflow in editing. Davinci Resolve for a while now has a toggle to ‘Use Vertical Resolution’ when outputting to monitors, regardless of I/O hardware. What this means is, it adds pillarboxing and maps it into 16:9 so it’s displayed correctly on monitors. AJA’s hardware now has the ability to do the same mapping, through it’s I/O hardware. It’s hardware is typically much more expensive than Blackmagic hardware. Most independent artists use Blackmagic hardware. However, BMD is unlikely to add this feature to hardware, instead they did it in their software, which in a way forces artists to work in Davinici Resolve. Most times, we don’t have a choice and have to work in the software that client’s support, such as Premiere Pro or Avid. I would like to submit a feature request where Premiere Pro does this mapping into the 16:9 SDI/HDMI stream so that monitors display vertical formats correctly, like Davinci Resolve.
