Emails periodically disappear from my documents. I import text from Word with the emails. they come through fine. The document is saved and everything is ok. Randomly when I reopen the document the emails are gone, there is no text only a tiny underline. This is a newsletter and I import the text from the same person who does the editing. The current issue I'm working on had the emails disappear yesterday and I copied them in from a previous issue. Today they are gone again. Some of the articles I import lose the emails when importing and I manually have to copy them. 

I have a puzzle here... I'm probably overlooking something obvious.... 🙂 Basically, I'm designing some cards for board gaming, and want to lay them out in spreads so that we can review and revise the front and backs of cards on the same spread - and need to have threaded text frames.  (What a great feature it would be if we could thread frames across different parents... one can dream.)  The card fronts and backs are entirely different. I have a LOT of content to flow in, and 10 text frames (6 front, 4 back.)I want to set the document up to trim size.Now, this is an old challenge, but there's no bleed in the gutter... and I need bleed... I'm currently using clunky workarounds that involve going back and forth between facing pages. It works, but... it's super-clunky. Not ideal. And flowing right-to-left doesn't work, so I'm also set up with a left-page start. Plus, it's clunky. I considered oversizing the pages & trimming after, but somehow

I create direct mailers for a client and am required to package up INDD files with links and fonts. Catamaran is one of their brand fonts and I can't package the Adobe version becuse of the Adobe copywrite. As a work-around, I downlaoded the free OpenType TrueType variation of this font and disabled the Adobe version. This has worked fine for about a year, but now my system is constantly telling me that Catamaran font is missing. I verified the Adobe version is off and reinstalled the OpenType version. Still issues. I turned off all of the Adobe fonts... this helpd for a few days, but now I'm having trouble again, even with the Adobe fonts turned off via the CC app. If I manually change the font back in one text box, it will change to the correct version, but if I copy-paste, it changes it back to the version that adobe says is missing. Find/ replace (even with changing to a 3rd font, closing and repoening to change to the correct font) doesn't work. I'm working on a 40 page

Hello,I'm converting a print book to epub and need to review it in Kindle previewer.I'm using Mac OS 13.7.2, InDesign 20.1, Kindle Previewer 3.91.0I'm choosing "reflowable" epub export. I keep getting the error message in Kindle previewer "Kindle conversion has encountered an internal error while enabling Enhanced Typesetting on this book."I'm unable to find where or how to disable "enhanced typesetting".Can anyone help me get this book to convert? I've searched the discussions and web and so far haven't found the answer.Thanks,D.

Is this possible? I have a 60-file InDesign book that I'm trying to convert to EPUB. I've just taken the LinkedIn Learning course on converting ID files to EPUB, but some of the features don't seem to be working as advertised. Specifically:I created a nav TOC style, but was only able to do it with one of my chapter files open. Once I closed it and tried to export my EPUB from the book file hamburger menu, I wasn't able to select that nav TOC style in the EPUB dialog box - I selected Multilevel (TOC Style) yet my custom style isn't there in the dropdown menu, only [Default]. Why is this? I can choose it if I'm only exporting a single file, but of course that's not my goal.The other thing I can't seem to do at the book level is map the paragraph styles to HTML tags, as she encourages us to do in the course. This dialog box is only available within individual files, not at the book level. I can't imagine doing this 60+ times.Any guidance is greatly appreciated! Using ID on Windows 10, v.

Hi I'm trying to create something like the below, where the text in the box should remain in columns but the border should encompass the whole section.    Using a border within the paragraph style puts a box around each column, so two separate boxes rather than a single box around the whole section of text with the style applied: Rules only do the top and bottom, not the sides, but that does span columns. Shading isn't what I need. Would love to be able to do this without anchoring a box that has to be resized every time.  Thanks!

Hi everyone.I'm trying to export a page range and Indesign keeps saying it "cannot find the specified page numbers".Using this blog, I labelled my pages accordingly, but it continues to not recognize the range: https://indesignsecrets.com/solving-printing-exporting-confusion.php I've even tried removing the section prefix and just use straight numbers. No luck. I've even tried using the + for absolute pages. No luck. It can't recognize anything!Am I missing something?Thanks,B.

When I try to do this in the text wrap window, the phrase on the right is also affected by the rectangle I applied and I can't fit it in that space. 

Im Kommentarbedienfeld von InDesign 20.5 auf einem Macbook Pro mit M1-Chip wird die Schrift falsch angezeigt. Auch, wenn keine Kommentare imprortiert wurden. Siehe Screenshot hier.   Kommentare aus einem PDF sind so natürlich überhaupt nicht zu gebrauchen.  EIn ähnliches bzw. das gleiche Problem habe ich in Illustrator.  Hat vielleicht noch jemand das gleiche Problem und eine Lösung dafür?

I'm on InDesign 20.5 mac Sequoia 15.5. I'm having difficult time with the QR Code generator. When I create this, I'm entering a URL that points to a PDF file. However, when I scan this code, it points to a different PDF file. I can't make heads or tails of this. In the right side of the footer there is a date 2025-07. If you scan the code below, it's supposed to load the same file with the same date. However, scanning this loads a different PDF with the date 2025-05. The only thing I can think of is when scanning, it's getting redirected to this other file. Any thoughts on this?   

Buenas tardes! Necesito un paso a paso para saber si es posible diseñar un catalogo de 1000 productos, que pueda ser modular y facil de cargar el contenido a través de un archivo excel. Va a tener entre 6 y 9 columnas con nfo de cada producto y a su vez, van a ser casi 1000 productos. Por lo tanto, necesito saber si es posible desarrollar este catalogo de un modo SEGURO y SIMPLE. Seran por lo menos 100 paginas y hasta ahora, todo lo que probemoos es muy engorroso. Necesito que sea modular, es decir, que entren 9 productos por pagina y a su vez, que cada uno tenga las columnas con la info del detallle, color, medida, precio, etc. Necesito saber tamnbien de que manera poder actualizar el contenido de la columna Precio, ya que va a ser una variable que van a actualizar mes a mes. Dejo una captura a modo de ejemplo de un diseño solo a modo de referencia de lo que estoy necesitando hacer y cargar a traves de un excel.Muchas gracias!

On some documents, when I edit something, InDesign adds a blue vertical line to the left of the text frame. What is this, and how do I turn it off?  It does not seem to be associated with the Preferences > Composition settings. I have tried comparing a document that does not do this with one that does, but so far, I haven't seen any differences between the two. Here's what I'm talking about - the Screen Mode is Normal:It's not a show-stopper; just really annoying. 🙂 

I have a new Lenovo Carbon X1, 11th generation, with an OLED screen. To keep power consumption down, it's important for screens shown on such screens to mnimize white pixels. It's also true that on OLED displays, their black pixels are "blackest black" in the sense that they are blacker than on "standard" LED screens. So, I'd like to be able to switch to a true dark mode at least when running on battery, as I'm doing right now, or when a passenger in a car, as I am right now. It also would help to avoid annoying the driver with light from the screen. A true black mode would allow me to view my black-text-on-white-background pages as white text on black. Is there already a way to do this that I don't know about? If not, is it a reqsonable thing to post as a feature request?

Does anyone have a good file-sharing system for InDesign?Currently using Dropbox and working from home. I have a Dropbox folder which I share with colleagues. I work solely from this, so all content I use is structured within it. When they open my files, my colleagues in the office have broken links because Dropbox uses absolute paths and so the user name part of the path is different for each of us, resulting in the missing links. We don't want to package everything as not all work is complete and it is disruptive having to drop what you are doing to do this - we've even experienced issues with packages and missing links anyway. InDesign doesn't deal in relative paths. We are using MacBooks and Sequoia, apparently we can't move the folder outside of the User folder, although I'm checking this again with Dropbox. It used to work well in Adobe Cloud but they discontinued the CC synced files ability. We have a server and I have a VPN and access but this is slow with images and

Hi, I have an unwanted page around each of my pages and I can't seem to select or remove them at all. I have tried going into the master sheet as well but am still unable to remove? Please help! 🙂

Is there a keyboard shortcut to jump to the next or previous page and keep it at the same magnification and position?Thanks!

Hallo zusammen,nutze ein MacBook Air mit OS Sequoia 15.1 und habe seit heute (!) bei InDesign 20.5 das Problem, dass fast sämtliche Kombinations-Befehle mit Maus und Tastatur (also z.B. mit gedrückter Wahl- und Maustaste ein Element duplizieren, oder mit space- und Befehltaste die Lupe aktivieren) nicht mehr funktionieren.Gestern ging es noch, ich hatte nichts verändert. Auch ein Id-Update heute auf 20.5 brachte nichts.Danke für einen Tipp!

Hi,I'm learning basic scripting and today I need to apply an export tag to a paragraph style for PDF export (see screenshot) across dozens of documents. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to use a script to automatize this time intensive process.Does anybody have any tips on how to do that?

Like some other posts I have seen, my clients can't download the magazine I prepare each month. There is no problem with the viewing - just not the downloading! I have, of course, clicked the allow downloads check box! I have also tried packaging the magazine document to see if that throws up any issues. The only one is that some of the photos are RGB and others CMYK is this a possible reason? There doesn't appear to be any problem with the file name (which I have seen as a problem for some others with this type of issue). Bonjour,quand je fais une variante de mise en page avec mise à l'échelle sur Indesign, les blocs de typo changent de taille. Mais lorsque je veux modifier la taille par la suite, ou voir la taille réelle de la typo, je n'y arrive pas. Y a t'il un moyen d'annuler l'agrandissement ou de savoir la taille réelle ?

I cannot figure out why when exporting PDFs in InDesign SOME (not all) of the images on the docuent do not show up when previewing the file in any program.... The image is there when the file is openend in acrobat... most of the time, occasionaly it will not show up OR print  for a client I have sent to but is just fine on my end.... I have searched settings and posts and have found nothing helpful at all. See the screen shot sample below of the same file open in acrobat that is NOT showing the image when previewing the image in its folder... this happens on other devices not just my desktop computer... Please help... this is SOOOOO frustrating.

Running a script to find and replace based on a Character Style, and it works fine if the Style isn't in a folder.However... in a folder... not so much! What I have now:*appliedCharacterStyle:"dropShadowBoldItalic" But if I put that Charactrer Style in the folder "Text Styles", it doesn't work, and I haven't figured out how to get it to work. I tried:"Text Styles:dropShadowBoldItalic",which I saw somewhere, but didn't work.
