InDesign

Hi everyone! we have thousands of INDD files on our servers and mostly export PDF from these INDD files to a hotfolder on a shared network drive. So if you hit cmd+E for export, the hotfolder path is the selected output folder, since it was last exported there. In the near future we will stop using this hotfolder and we rather want to export the PDF to the folder where the INDD file is saved at. Since we are using a multiple layer directory tree on our server it takes up a lot of time to change the output path to this folder manually - especially if it has to be done for every file. Does anybody have an idea how we can speed up the process or change the saved export location? Some keyboard shortcuts (macOS) may also help, but i dont know of any to jump to the folder where the INDD file is saved at (besides cmd+shift+G), because the INDD files are all in different file locations, the path you'd have to enter will always vary. 

The new AI "Text to Image" tool is great but isnt useful if I cannot have control of the images. I need to ensure specific color profiles are used for print and am unable to create print files if links are "missing." Will this option be fixed?

I made a file 1 month ago in ID 2024, now I want to copy a textbox from it to a new document, made in ID 2025. I cannot do it, it becomes a pixel image. I tried to copy only the text, than it appears in the new file like normal text, it looses al the settings and fonts.  It is a big problem.     <Title renamed by MOD>

My coworkers all use 350dpi jpg. They find jpg convenient because the client's files are jpg. And I'm used to using 350dpi tif, I think tif is safe and the fine print is richer. They all suggest me to use jpg format now.

it works when copy paste a text box within the same page, but when i paste the text box to other pages, it becomes an image inside a image box.anyone know why?

Hello — I don't normally use Anchored Objects, but decided to try them out on a current project, and ran into a strange issue. When I select a text box or image in my layout and then go to the Object menu, my Anchored Object panel is grayed out. I've attached an image to show what I mean (AnchoredObjectMenu.png). Also, when I click on a text box or on an image in InDesign (in any document I've created) the text box and image frame seem to be missing certain features. Again, I've attached images that hopefully show what I mean: The attached images "MyTextBox.png" and "MyImageBox.png" show how my frames look. In the attached images "ExampleTextBox.png" and "ExampleImageBox.png", I've circled in red the features that are missing for me when I create a text box or image frame. I'm guessing that these missing features are related to my Anchored Object menu being grayed out. Does anyone know what's going on here or how I can fix it? FYI: I'm using InDesign 17.4.

For years now I've used this script to create photo albums, but lately have been having problems with it on two of my three computers. Here's how it works.  Run the script - point it to a directory and it will create a csv file with a list of images in that directory. But the images are out of order in the csv file, so I open it in Open office, sort the rows A-Z, save and close. Then go to the data merge menu in ID, select that csv file as the data source, and ID will create a page for each image, giving me a photo album that I then save as a PDF or ebook.  Problem is, I'm starting to get this error, and can't figure it out. The Data Merge stops, and I get an error sayiing "data missing or some rows are empty". But on one computer it still works. No idea why that one works and the others don't. But I need to find a solution.  Does anyone else use this? Any ideas on what's causing that error? ID 2024 and ID 2025 give the same error. 

I am a habitual user of the Quick Apply feature and think it's one of the most powerful efficiency features in InDesign. I use Quick Apply for only paragraph styles, character styles, and scripts, so I disable all of the other options available in the Quick Apply panel preferences to reduce clutter: I am also subject to a workflow and tools which regularly require me to enable/disable InDesign plugins. I have found that modifying the plugin folders in any way or clearing caches/saved state settings, etc. resets those Quick Apply panel preferences. Maybe a minor gripe, but having to check/uncheck those options over and over again takes away so much of the quickness of the Quick Apply! Does anybody know of any way to quickly reapply the Quick Apply prefrence settings? Possibly a script? I've seen no method for targeting Quick Apply via script, but maybe I just don't know what to look for. Or even a method to make my prefences stick more permanently? I would start by saying I am very new to the Adobe ecosystem and I'm not sure where to be asking this question.  My 14 year old daughter has a little tshirt business.  We have built a website & have doens of categories that each have 50-100 different graphics.  We have 7 colours of garments & 5 different garments.We are looking to take the graphic & apply it to the 35 different combinations of colours & garments and then repeat that process across 4,000 graphics.   Kind of something like this.  We are trying to figure out if there is a way to automate this & are struggling with it.  Hoping for some advice/direction.     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hello,Can anyone help me with the following questions.1) I have a file made in InDesign and want to save as PDF. I choose one of the presettings (PDF/X-1a:2001) but it won't process. It gets stuck at 4% and will not progress.  2) I can export the InDesign file to a (interactive) PDF file, but the PDF created can not be printed. I checked if i could print the InDesign file, that works fine. So I think the problem is caused by converting to any form of PDF file.. Anyone familiar with this? Thaks for your help in advance.Greets Chantal      <Title renamed by MOD>

Hello!Every time I go to make an edit a text box in Indesign a little panel pops up attached to my cursor to give me options like "Caps, superscript, etc". I dont need it and becuase it wont go away I have to input twice to add my text and get it to disappear. I have to keep doing it with every text box.Is there a way of turning off this selection? Thanks

By flat, I mean :Vector content is rasterized to pixelsAll layers on the page are flattened to oneAnything outside the visible canvas is cropped off (This essentially amounts to binding a bunch of JPGs into a book and telling it where the covers/spreads are.)We can do this pretty easily when exporting mixed content to PDF from PS, but every export option I tried in ID results in the text being selectable. It should be pixels like the artwork (for this version). Thanks!

How do I export my InDesign file to the print.bureau, including font and illu.     <Title renamed by MOD>

Is there a scriptable way to Option-Double-Click (Edit Original) a vector AI graphic and have it load into Illustrator; not Acrobat?

1. I create an InDesign page with x number of boxes.2. I select the script and it asks me to point it to an AI file. This AI file has multiple pages the same size as the boxes in the iNDD doc. 3. the script then fills the selected boxes in the INDD file with the AI doc pages. Perfect! But, once the import is completed, if there are any boxes left, the script fills them with the first page of the imported AI file. I need them to remain blank. For example, I create an INDD file with 126 boxes. I select those boxes and activate the script. It imports all 220 pages form the AI file then continues on to fill the remaining 16 boxes with the first page of the AI file. I've tried everyhitng I can think of, but cant figure out how to stop that. I have tried to export and indesign file to adobe acrobat interactive pdf and everytime I have tried indesign sends a warning saying 'Unable to view this file because acrobat was not found.Check your acrobat installation.' I have also uninstalled adobe acrobat and reinstalled it and tried again and it still does not work.

Bonjour à tous J'ai un souci avec un fichier InDesign. J'ai travaillé sur un fichier de 116 pages en vis à vis et je souhaiterais le remettre en page à page et l'envoyer, mais rien ne se passe il reste en planche. Dois je faire une manipulation autre que sur le format du document ? Et enfin on me demande d'exporter un PDF en page à page, excepté la 1re et 4e de couverture qui doivent être en planche (sur le même fichier) quelqu'un peut il m'indiquer la marche a suivre ? hello,    about one week ago, i can not open my Indesign, that time it was version 2024, also i can not log in my adobe creative cloud, it was always in the loading page.    i have tried to reinstall the adobe creative cloud, it does not work, i have tried 5 times, and i can log in. then i have reinstall my indesign and also update to indesign 2025. it seems fine from then.    today my indesign crash down again and i can no longer open it, it crash down everytime. meanwhile, i can not open my creative cloud either.    i am using macbook with m1 max chip.    please, i am using indesign everyday and i really troubles me, i cant work at all.    thanks      <Title renamed by MOD>

alguém pode ajudar? quando importo um docx o arquivo não vem hifenizado, sendo que no word abre normalmente e encontra-se hifenizado.
