HelloI searched and couldn't found any solution about this. Seems like an old issue and still not solved. I have Table of Contents and it creates bookmarks in project file when I updated the ToC.I also have buttons in my master pages (or parent pages). So these buttons link to each other master pages to quickly switch between subjects. When I create the button I pick the target from the bookmark list that ToC created. It works well until I update the ToC!All button links are breaking and in the project file all buttons automatically select the first bookmark from the bookmark list. None of any button is working. The only way, I update ToC first and re-link all buttons and then export to pdf file.Do you have any idea or solution? Thanks 

Hello. I want to have a preeflight for indesign that only checks visible objects.We have alot of hidden objects due to we work with a plugin Easy Catalog and its able to change things (for example price bubble/market bubble) depending on different variables. I cant see you have that option when you set up an preeflight option.Would it be possible to write/program a specific one that meets this demand?Best regards Mattias

Hola, He instalado de nuevo el programa indesign debido a un problema que tuve con el ordenador. Y ahora cuando que intento retomar el trabajo en el mismo punto donde lo dejé , abro el documento indesign y cuando quiero editar el texto, tanto de una tabla como caja de texto, al escribir o hacer un espacio o cualquier cosa, todo el texto se desplaza hacia abajo, como pueden ver el el video que adjunto.Estoy usando exactamente la misma fuente que antes y el mismo estilo de carácter, todo exactamente igual, pero no se como evitar que haga esto y porque lo hace..., pero no puedo seguir trabajando si me hace esto.  ¿Alguna idea de que puede ser y como solucionarlo?¿Muchas gracias!

Since upgrading to the latest version of InDesign I am no longer able to add items to a library.  It wants me to migrate my libraries to Creative Cloud, but I would prefer these files live in the same Dropbox folder on my computer in which my .indd project files reside. I use this feature heavily for icons and symbols used in my publication and I'd like to find a solution for this.As you can see above, the add item and delete item icons are greyed out. I use PAC (PDF Accessibility Checker) to check the PDFs that result from my InDesign documents, and always receive these error messages for the endnotes: Failure error, for each hyperlinked endnote number in the Notes section:1)   'ID missing in "Note" structure element' Warning message:2)   '"Contents" entry on an annotaion exists, but is only comprised of white space'. Hi all. Somehow my InDesign window got dragged up behind the apple menu at top of the screen...I can't move, expand or minimize it at all. I closed / reopened and rebooted my Mac with no luck. Can anyone help me please? This is my work computer and I am at a standstill! Thanks!    

I have flowed a Word document into Indesign, and attempted to convert the Times Roman fonts to Adobe Garamond Premier Pro. No character or paragraph style has been applied. However, the Garamond fonts become superscript of their own accord. If I then select the fonts and deselect "superscript" the font changes to Arial.

Some years ago I used to work with InDesign. Now I am trying the updated program for free. I  want to save my new files on the computer, I am not at all interesed to store it in the Cloud. Why does  the system force me to save it  in the cloud?    

I am in the early stages of planning a company virtual conference for designers. Ideally I would like to get an Adobe representative to come on and do some live, virtual training on agreed topics in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Is this something that Adobe would do and how do I go about getting in contact with someone to get more details?

Hello, I have been frustrated working with InDesign book. I have an InDesign book that has 18 Indd doc within.  And I have a main TOC that links to each chapter in the book, which is separated by each indd doc.After I packaged the book doc into another folder, and exported a PDF from that packaged folder into an interactive PDF, my TOC links stopped working. I have to open my TOC doc in that new packaged folder, and updated the TOC again in order for it to be working. This also happens to the button links that I have. I have a main link on top of each doc that will make ppl easily click to jump to different doc withou having to go back to the main TOC. These links stopped working in the newly packaged folder. All of the TOC links and the button links are all working already in the other doc. From a logical point of view, this shouldn't be happening as when packaging the book should be the way to do it. The reason I have to package the book is because

Problems exporting to PDF (InDesign 2026). We always create newspapers in which InDesign documents are placed. This always worked fine. But since InDesign 2026, I get error messages or the PDF contains empty pages. How is this possible?

After the 2026 InDesign update, when I move the tabs in the text box forward or backward by moving the arrows, the tabs on the right side of the tab I moved disappear, I have to start the tab from the beginning every time, I couldn't find a solution.     <Title renamed by MOD>

After updating to InDesign 20.1 on Mac when I ungroup something that had objects with multiple different layers in it they all stay on the same layer now. Even with "Ungroup Remembers Layers" checked. Anyone else having the same issue? It didn't do this in the previous version, so wondering if this is a bug or if anyone has a fix?     <Title renamed by MOD>

Can anyone explain to me why every single time there is an update to InDesign or Bridge on my machine, i immediately get the Application error 0xc0000142 unable to start correctly? I know that simply repairing Visual C++ Redistributable will fix the issue, but in my instance, that is an admin task that we are not able to accomplish without getting our IT Helpdesk involved. So basically everytime I update, I am dead in the water until my helpdesk team can get on it. It is just silly.  And yes, we have uninstalled and reinstalled both the Adobe programs and the latest C++ packages. What is the deal and how to correct this?

I created a numbered list Paragraph titled: Numbered List 1, the mode Start At  1. To be able to have this list continue numbering from 1 I duplicated the list, edited the Style Name: to Numbered List 1 Cont. and under Mode: I set it to: Continue from Previous.  For some reason the next numbered list continues at 4, not 2. What could be causing this to happen? I have never had this issue with numbering before. Any help would be appreciated. Todd

Hi, our company is going to switch from a server to a one drive to save all of our files.  I have a couple questions.  A. Can I work on a indesign file and save it to one drive without having to download it on to my desktop?B.  So right now working from a server, I have a folder with my indesign files, images, etc.  But within that indesign file, there are other images that are getting pulled from different folders on the server. (logo and images we use all the time). If we move to one drive, will all those still be linked when opening up that indesign file?D.  If I have 2 indesign files open.  I want to copy and paste one image to the other indesign file on one drive.  Will that image be linked or do I have to place that image in that other folder where the indesign file is?E.  Will Incopy work just fine using the one drive? (packaged and non packaged incopy files) Just trying to think of everything bad that could happen when we switch

Good day everone 😃Can you please help me? A company made a request to create certain spaces between paragraphs in their manuals. There are plenty of styles but the spaces are strictly written in their guidbook (which is ubsolutely new and has no InDesign files yet so I have to create one).What the want is to have 8 mm before the Headers1 and 8 after. 6 mm before and after for Header2. And so on.When it comes to H1 and H2 stand together they have 12mm space (8+6). What I need is: 8 mm. I want to program to choose the bigger number and use it shile ignoring the lesser. Is it even possible?Becase the text is messy with lost of crazy indents for Commentaries, Images and so on... And the customer wants specific spaces between paragraphs. Its pretty hard to check every Paragraph and delete spaces after manually or redefine the last paragraph with the style without indent after if the next style has bigger space before the text. There must be a way to make it work without extra check?

Hi,Since updating to the 2025 version of InDesign, files like .ai and .psd with transparent backgrounds stored in the CC Library now appear with a white background when placed in a design. This issue persists when exporting to PDF. This is only happening in InDesign. Anyone can help me, please? Thanks

Hey All, I've been hitting this issue for a couple years now. I've experienced it across two jobs using separate computers and Adobe accounts, leading me to believe it's an issue with the software, but I haven't been able to find an answer to the issue. I will be working in InDesign and every couple of minutes all of my other windows will "lock up". I am not able to interact with any other program in any way. InDesign stays fully functional during this, but if I were to, for example, go to open an excel spreadsheet, I am not able to pull it up. Windows that are already open on my screen are also locked up, and I'm not able to use them. This only ever happens with InDesign. Never Illustrator or PhotoShop. My temporary fix is to hit ctrl+alt+delete and open then close the task manager. This works every time, but impedes my flow and is frustrating. I use InDesign and Windows - both fully updated. Help would be much appreciated!

Hello everyone!After some research I haven't found a real answer to my issue and I am sure there should be one.I am currently working in a pipeline with a team where we layout packaging faces in indesign before copy/pasting it to illustrator tracings from the printer/manufacturer.The issue is that on our layout we have paragraph/texte strokes, bullet points and fonts needs to be vectorized on the illustrator file. Everything works –bullet points are a bit tricky but it is manageable– aside from the paragraph strokes who dissapear once we hit the vectorized command. As we have paragraph styles and paragraph strokes setting, spacing, offset, etc. Regular strokes are not an option. We have too much files and faces to deal with it manually.Therefore here is my question: Is there a clear solution to have text/paragraph strokes vectorized ?Thank you very muchHave a nice day!

When the Pages panel is set to "View Pages" > "Horizontally," if there are enough pages in the document, the bottom page numbers are cut off when you scoll all the way down. I can reproduce this in InDesign even with preferences reset. InDesign 19.4macOS 14.5 

Here's a small bug or I have done something wrong so far :-D:  In Indesign’s menubar-font menu you cannot jump to a font you want to use by enterin the first letter or part of the name. It just does not work. Preview is off, show last fonts is set to 0. Works in 2025, not in 2026.It works in the Command-T Font-Menu itself, but not in the menubar-fontmenu.   Otherwise, 26 is a better experience so far than 25 was. Maybe this can be fixed in a .-update. Thank you folks.
