Hallo, ich habe ein Problem bei der Darstellung von Indesign auf meinem zweiten Monitor. Ich kann zwar einzelne Fenster von meinem MacBook Pro M1 auf meinen Eizo Monitor ziehen und auch demensprechend die Werkzeuge, aber das Programmfenster an sich nicht. Es nervt. Gestern ging es noch. Wo liegt der Bug? Betreibssystem und Programm sind auf dem aktuellsten Stand. Bitte um Hilfe!!!!

I do not think this is possible but as a book designer it would be very nice if there was a script. Is there a way to set my font style where my text is on one layer and my shading or rule (essentially a colour) is on a seperate layer? This is useful if the book needs a language change.thanksDom

I'm about to go to print with a 120 page picture book, 11"x8.5" landscape, with full width photos on each page. The captions and narration are below the photos. I've arranged the pages so there's 1" in the gutters and 3/4" top, bottom and outer margins for adequate white space. The book leads up to a two-page photo spread that I'm concerned about.  I've settled on a matte anti-scuff 130 lb cover with satin 100 lb pages. I sense the binding will be tight. But I think leaving a 1/4" space in the gutters of the facing pages will work. That leaves at least 1/2" per page to any imagery (waterfowl). My theory is that the 1/4" white space will be swallowed up in the binding and there will still be another 1/4" before contact with a waterfowl. I don't see a perfect way to address this, so I'm looking for an experienced eye to advise me on best practices in this situation. Thoughts?

Hi there, I can tell the text is selected when I double-click text inside a text frame, because when I trial deleting it disappears. However, the usual blue highlight of the selcetion does not show up (as it does in previous versions of InDesign, every other Adobe program and InDesign's story editor), which makes things difficult! How can I get those highlights to show? I'm working in the latest version (CC Indesign 15.0.2). 

When I use the gradient and the align tools on the right side, they don't show all the information, so I can't use them. I can click on show options and nothing's there.

How do I convert a InDesign CC file to a Photoshop file without loosing anything?What format should it be saved in InDesign to convert to Photoshop?Orginally created in InDesign. I need to update and publish a small directory but I use Photoshop.

I haven't been able to find the right search terms, I guess, because I can't believe I'm the only one seeing this issue. I'm using the 20.x series on MacOS Sequoia. If I export an ID project as a reflowable epub, and then inspect the metadata using Calibre, I find that my epub is tagged Languages: "Arabic, English."  There is no Arabic in the project, although in many cases there are words in other languages (Hawaiian, and another South Pacific language....) and diacritical marks such as a macron are there also.  This causes a problem when I use Kindle Previewer 3 to create a .mobi file (which I often need to produce). Previewer won't export a mobi until I go back to Calibre and edit out "Arabic." This isn't a big problem, because I expect it and know the work-around -- but I'd really like to know why this is happening.  I should add that this has been happening for several years. Bonjour, Sur Mac Mini M4 Pro (64 Go de RAM), avec indesign 20.5.0.48 les effets d'ombre que j'applique à du texte ou des objets, avec une valeur de 0 au niveau des options, sont systématiquement pixelisés. À l'affichage et lors de l'exportation en PDF (voir capture d'écran jointe). Je travaille avec "L'affichage de qualité supérieure" systématiquement, lui même réglé sur "Haute définition" pour tous les paramètres. J'ai testé avec des versions précédentes d'Indesign (2023 et 2024) et sur d'autres Mac, j'ai réinitialisé totalement Indesign : le problème est identique. Lorsque j'active la fenêtre des effets pour la première fois sur un bloc (peu importe qu'il soit d'objet ou de texte, ou "indéfini"), l'effet d'ombre apparaît correctement. Mais dès que je mets la valeur d'Options à "0", l'ombre apparaît pixélisée. Quelqu'un rencontre le même problème ? Ou aurait une solution ? Je précise que le même effet d'ombrage sur Illutrator est réalisé correctement… Mais ça

Is there some undocumented, easy way to get rid of the border around InDesign-generated QR codes? That border makes it a huge pain to align with other items, and it's so time consuming to resize the object box perfectly. How easy it would be to simply turn off the borders! Any ideas?

For example, one of my scripts is named:Open Image in PS-【Shift+F3】.jsxNow, using another script for setting shortcuts, I want to coompulsory assign Shift+F3 as the shortcut for the above script.That is, the 【】 portion should function as the keyboard shortcut. You won't have to worry about the script filename being modified.Thank you.

Hello dear forum members, I’d like to use file merging to save some time here. Everything works fine so far, except for the description texts (e.g. “made of mesh fabric” etc.). In the Excel table, these texts are entered in the respective cell with line breaks, but after importing the file into ID only the first line is displayed.How should I format the data in Excel so that it is output correctly?Thanks! Hallo liebe Forenmitglieder, ich möchte folgendes mit der Dateizusammenfügung erstellen lassen um hier Zeit zu sparren. Alles funktioniert soweit, bis auf die Texte der Beschreibung (aus Meshgewebe usw.), diese sind in der Ecxle Tabelle in der jeweiligen Zelle mit einen Absatz eingetragen, aber nach dem Import der Datei in ID wird nur die erste Zeile ausgegeben. Wie muss ich die Daten in Excle anlegen damit es sauber ausgegeben wird? Danke  

Hi, I set up my epub for print by mistake at the start as still learning. Partway through I’ve changed it to a web document and changed the margins to 0.5 in rather than 0.25 in. I can now see blue lines at the top and bottom of each page, sitting inside the red lines top and bottom. He creado un documento que pretende ser un pdf interactivo, con botones para navegar por dentro del mismo. Creo un botón, le doy apariencia, le doy una acción: ir a página y elijo la página de destino.Pero cuando exporto a PDF interactivo (conservando todos los elementos interactivos en la exportación) me aparece el siguiente mensaje:La acción de botón Ir a página no se admite en PDF. Se conservará la apariencia del botón, pero se perderá su interactividad.He probado también a crear un hipervínculo a una página del documento, pero me da el mismo error.Sé que puedo solucionarlo creando a posteriori los hipervinculos en acrobat sobre los botones, pero si me modifican cualquier leve detalle en el InDesign, tendré que reformular todos los botones y me parece una manera poco ágil de trabajar.¡Os agradecería mucho la ayuda!

Hi everyone,I’m facing a situation that could potentially make me crazy and I’d appreciate your insights.Ideally, I’d like to « break the link and pull the content » with an Indesign file that’s visible in the Links panel. However, we can’t do this natively. So, what are my options? Statement :I understand that Indesign files are complex files and are probably more similarly dealt with like graphics files. We can’t break a link with a graphic; we can only modify or delete it. But since both are in the Indesign ecosystem (the link and the active document), I’m wondering if there’s anything we can do. Most likely, it would involve scripting, which is fine. But where should I start, and what would be the strategy here? Here’s what I have:- I have a 300+ document that uses 177 Indesign files as links.- The file needs to be translated. Indesign limitations :The issue is that Indesign files as links are not directly editable, unlike a .docx file. I'm trying to add two different footnotes style on a page but it seems that InDesign won't allow that! So I have the usual numbering footnotes (1,2,3,4...) and then I have another style which is an asterisk  "*"I tried to change the footnote style but that did not work as you can only use one style in a document! Is there any way to bypass this?Thanks

Whe I leave InDesign (and Photoshop also) opened and Mac Mini goes in sleep mode, after waking up my workspace is misaligned.Some panels from secondary monitor are on primary monitor, but some stay right where they shoul be.I can easily reset my saved workspace, but still it is annoying.Not sure why is it happening.It is Mac Mini M4, latest macOS, and dual monitor setup.

Hello,I am using Place + Shift to add text from an rtf file and auto add pages. It works fine up to page 201 then there are no more pages added, even though the text continues for several more pages. I have tried several times with the same result at the same point. I have tried manually adding pages at the end but the text doesn't autoflow into them. The missing text is in the rtf doc and I can't see anything that would stop the import at that particular point (it is just a continuation of the text, no section or chapter breaks at that point.) Any suggestions? Running ID 2025 on Windows 11

Good evening!Since the latest InDesign update (20.5), I've been having issues displaying fonts and styles in the panel.While previously, when selecting non-homogeneous text (different fonts or roman and italic) the box remained empty, now "majority" fonts and styles appear. Is this a problem with this update or with my PC (Windows 10)? Thank you in advance

Only yesterday did I poke around in Creative Cloud (6.7.0.278) and clicked on "Cloud Activity" out of curiosity while viewing my libraries. There are only six libraries with a few very simple files in them that I've added including also very simple InDesign templates I created. I may have clicked on a sync button and the cloud activity indicator started its twirling. This morning I came back to that and saw that little twirl still going.Is this normal, or is it stuck? If this matters from "About Creative Cloud" menu item:  Creative Cloud Libraries Synchronizer (CC Library) 4.11.13. Also iMac desktop, Sequoia 15.6.1 InDesign 2025, v 20.5.0.48 

Suppose my script directory is:..\myFile\myScript\copyToGrep.jsxMy regular expression directory is:..\myFile\myGrep\aaa.xmlI want to copy aaa.xml to the GREP directory:C:\Users\olo\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign\Version 19.0-J\zh_CN\Find-Change Queries\GREPFirst clear the files in GREP, then copy. The version number 19.0 is automatically recognized. Alternatively, if can open the specified directory in the script, which is also a good option.
