I am having a problem with a file I received from another designer. Specifically, she used the Barlow font family from Adobe Fonts for some of the text treatments, however, even when I activate all the available font families she linked to on Adobe Fonts, some of the font variations are being found but two of the font variations are not being found. See below image. Given that these fonts should be the same ones from Adobe Fonts, how do I resolve the issue? Is it possible that this issue is related to the operating system (I am on a Windows PC)?
Our 3 person graphics department is working on a updating a 15 section 350+ page catalog in InDesign CC2017. We've created a book file and are making changes to the different sections (opening them only through the book file) but are finding revisions that have been made were not saved when we re-open the sections later in the day or the following day. There are always multiple sections in the indb panel with yellow caution triangles saying the document was modified outside the book file which is odd since the sections are opened only through the indb file. The catalog is entirely product based and all the text has paragraph and character styles applied.
Hi, I have a project that uses a lot of repeat elements, which I saved in an InDesign CC library. I redesigned the project last year and added lots of new assets to the CC library. When I opened the library today, all the newer files are missing - it appears to have reverted to a version of the library from over a year ago, before I created the redesign files. Is there any way to retrieve and re-add those assets? They are not visible in the InDesign library panel, nor in the project's library folder when I log in on Adobe.com. Many thanks!
Since this post seems to be marked as resolved after the Adobe Community update and it isn’t resolved, I’m creating a new post and linking to the old one. All the relevant information can be found here (at least all of the information that survived the Adobe Community update -- there are several missing posts). Long story short -- when you install Windows Security updates, some system fonts -- Times New Roman for me -- throw a missing font error in InDesign. This error only goes away if you uninstall the Windows Security update. More detailed info can be found in the linked post. This issue has been going on for literally months, since last November, and we’ve got bupkis to show for it -- less than bupkis now that some of the original posts have been nerfed with the Adobe Community update and the original thread appears dead. Adobe. Please. Help. This is beyond frustrating now...
For the past few months, I’ve been able to work around this issue, but it has now reached a point where I can’t. When exporting PNG files in Adobe InDesign, the drop shadows shift position during export. The shadows appear correctly within InDesign, but once the PNG is exported, the shadows are visibly displaced from their original placement. I am currently using Adobe InDesign version 21.3.Here’s a longer forum:This forum has been marked as “answered” but it is only suggested workarounds from the community. Here’s an example:Inside Indesign, the shadows are where they’re supposed to be.Flattened .png files placed as assets in Animate. The shadows moved.I’ve gone back into InDesign multiple times to correct the shadow placement and re-export the files, but the shadows continue to export incorrectly, which has become a major issue in my workflow.I’ve been dealing with this bug daily for months, often having to resize assets in InDesign just to temporarily work around the problem. I’m ho
I have a half-page postcard with small images embedding. I’m trying to save it to my CC files so I can share with a collaborator, but it either never saves or takes 20-30 minutes to save. Is that normal?
Mac, OS Tahoe 26.3.1 (a)In the past I have had this problem with Illustrator and Photoshop. Now it sometimes appears with InDesign as well. If I try to drag the active window to another place on my screen, by dragging from the top of the window, it disappears behind all other apps currently open. Oddly, any free floating palettes stay on top. If I can still see a part of the window, I can click on it to bring it back to the front. If not, I have to go to the dock to bring it forward. Nothing is lost so this is an annoyance rather than a real problem, but why does it happen and why is it now happening with ID as well as the others?
Using Share for Review in InDesign’s June 2020 release, you can share your designs for online review, and manage feedback right within the app. Stakeholders can open the shared document in a browser to provide feedback. Share for Review streamlines and simplifies the review process for both designers and their stakeholders. The following FAQs provide clarity on common questions around Share for Review: Share the document for review - FAQ View reviewer comments - FAQ Review the document - FAQ Best practices How is Share for Review different from the ‘Integrated comment and review’ feature in InDesign CS5? How does it compare to the Import PDF Comments (IPC) feature? Adobe is investing in features and services that make creative collaboration easier and more enjoyable. Since updating to InDesign 21.5, exporting/saving a story as InCopy (ICML) can omit a table's column width dataEnvironment: InDesign 21.5, Windows. Is this a known/tracked bug, and is a fix scheduled? Is there a recommended workaround in the meantime?
Ever since I updated to Indesign 2026, anytime I place an illustrator file, there is a fairly high chance that one or more of the layers refuses to display or the file will be in a rolled back state. Its not just a visual glitch, when I export to PDF, the placed file will still not show what its supposed to. It seems to happen more frequently when the illustrator file is larger, but I’ve also had it happen on tiny files. The ONLY fix I’ve found so far is to save the illustrator file as a PDF and import that.
Direct RAW File Integration in Adobe InDesignI would like to request native support for placing and linking RAW image formats directly in Adobe InDesign, including DNG, NEF, CRW, CR2, CR3, ARW, RAF, and other Camera Raw compatible formats.
Ich wünsche mir eine Aufgabenliste, die man ggf. sogar abhaken kann.Damit kann ich in jedem Dokument sehen, welche Aufgabennoch offen sind.
Does the new AI-powered InDesign have the option to change a linked color photo to a black and white or duotone version? Before, there was a very good plugin called Color2Gray to do that. Thanks a lot. <Title renamed by MOD>
Hi, experiencing this problem for a while:When i import an image into InDesign and open it in Photoshop, make some changes, and change the canvas size to a larger state; even after applying all the changes, the InDesign frame still displays the image’s canvas size at its old size. Other changes appear as it is but canvas size change remains unchanged. When I open it again in Photoshop for check, the canvas size appears at its true size, but the InDesign image remains unchanged, stuck in its old state. No matter what I do, InDesign doesn't forget the image's original canvas size and stubbornly remains in that size in the frame and looks like cropped.Has anyone experienced this problem or knows how to solve it?Thanks and regards to the community...
I just know somehow that if this was a real thing I could save a week's worth of time every month. I produce a 40 page newsletter 12 times a year and it always takes about 5 days to complete a new issue. The format is generally consistent from month to month, but bringing in new stories is such a brutally manual process!
Hi team and fellow developers,I am currently tasked with maintaining a legacy project that requires building C++ plugins specifically for InDesign CC 2014 (v10.0).Since the Adobe Developer Portal currently only provides SDKs for 2017 and newer versions, I cannot find the official download link for CC 2014 anywhere.Could anyone please share a working link, or if an Adobe staff member could kindly provide access to the archived CC 2014 SDK zip package? Thanks in advance for your help!
Hello, how do I get rid of this message? It has been appearing since 21.2.“Adobe InDesign 2026” wants to access data from other apps.Thank you for your help and feedback.
Hi everyone,I would like to ask a question not about a specific single Adobe application, but directly regarding Adobe and macOS Tahoe in general.Ever since I upgraded to Tahoe (since September 2025), using Adobe applications has turned into complete torture. First, I ran into InDesign place issues. Dreamweaver crashes constantly—it even crashed 22 times in half a day. Despite having an active Adobe CC subscription and Dreamweaver, I am on the verge of buying Panic Nova ($99). For a while now, I’ve also been considering buying QuarkXPress instead of InDesign (I used Quark back in the 1990s anyway). While Adobe apps used to launch quickly on my MacBook Pro, launch times started to drag out with new minor Tahoe updates, and it gets slower with every single update. Acrobat triggers the beachball without exception every single time, forcing me to wait for it to finish before I can do anything. There are many more issues, but these are enough to illustrate the situation. The MacBook Pro + Ta
It would be really helpful if InDesign had a simple option to prevent a Table of Contents from inheriting character-level formatting from the source headings. For example, if a word in a chapter heading is manually set to red, the TOC can sometimes bring that red formatting along with it. The same can happen with coloured page numbers or other local formatting.CHAPTER HEADINGTOCIdeally, the TOC should have an option such as “Ignore source character formatting” or “Use TOC formatting only”, so that the generated TOC follows its own Paragraph and Character Styles consistently. This becomes especially important in long documents where the TOC is updated frequently. Manually correcting inherited colours after every update is not practical.A dedicated setting to completely override source formatting would make TOC generation much more predictable and efficient.
Hi there. I've installed the latest update of Indesign 2020. I'm now experiencing problems in that if I open a converted version of an Indesign docment, make changes then try to save, it says "Indesign is unable to save this file. We tried, but it appears to be damaged." (See Indesign 2020 Fig. 1). I have tried to save a copy of my document and it says the same thing. I have even tried to create a new document in Indesign 2020, save it as a test before putting anything in it and again the same message, "Indesign is unable to save this file. We tried but it appears to be damaged." (See Indesign 2020 Fig 2). Is it a bug in the new Indesign update? Do I uninstall it and reinstall Indesign 2019? Could someone please help me?
No matter how I install the fonts, InDesign won’t make them available. I’ve used third-party font managers, Font Book, installed fonts directly into the system library and added them to the Fonts subfolder in the InDesign folder. The fonts appear I all my other applications including Illustrator and Photoshop.Interestingly, unavailable fonts become available in previously created documents that use a particular font. I can select the text and change the wight of the font, but it still doesn’t show up in the font list pull-down menu. I can also copy and paste the text into a new document to use a specific font. However, If I want to use a newly added font, there is no way to access it in InDesign.I have tried all the standard trouble-shooting methods including uninstalling and reinstalling InDesign.I am on a Mac with all the latest software updates.
Using Windows 11, current version of InDesign.Trying to complete the digital/ebook version of a book.First, I’m not new at this. Been writing and doing my own publishing for 37 years. I have never had this particular glitch before. No matter what I do, all my centered graphics are left-aligned when exported to epub. The exact same file does fine in both 8x10 and 6x9 print versions, using all the same graphics and settings.Object styles are used for all graphics.I’ve tried using other graphics I’ve used many times before with no problems, and graphics I’ve never used. Same result.I’ve tried resetting the default graphics style, even creating a new one.I’ve tried using a new template, both my own, and ones offered in ID panel.I’ve closed ID and reopened. I’ve rebooted my computer.I’ve checked for updates on PC and in Adobe CC.I’ve rolled back InDesign to previous version (as suggested repeatedly on various forums and help sites). This did not change the problem. Graphics are still left-al
I'm having a very frustrating problem where text inside my text boxes disappears or becomes overset text when I move them around on the page. Keep in mind that I'm not scaling the text boxes- I just move them up or down and they become overset. I'm also having a sister issue where the vertical margins on text boxes keep shifting when I move them to where I see double text. Regardless of the double text, the vertical margin keeps shifting when I move the text box. I believe that there must be something that I'm not accounting for on the page that is causing these things to shift.
Suddenly I can’t Find and Replace in InDesign. Most of the Edit menu is greyed out. I’ve ensured that either a text box or a paragraph is selected and this makes no difference. I’ve never had this problem before and it’s just happened suddenly. I haven’t changed any settings.
