I’ve cleared preferences through library, and when starting indesign. It has several bugs randomly appearing. eg. Suddenly can’t undo, takes ages to quit, there’s a slight delay importing images...
Hello, after InDesign's latest update, I can't use shortcuts like alignment and object docking without selecting and grouping objects. What is causing this and how can I fix it? It's very difficult to work without shortcuts. I checked the preferences section and everything seems normal.
I have just updated to the 2023 InDesign, and now suddently my documents are read-only and I cannot save the file, but have to make a save as version and give the document a new name everytime I have to save my work.Do you know why this is happening? And how to avoid this?
I have a paragraph style with an OTF Stylistic Set enabled. When creating a character style, there is no option to disable this Stylistic Set — or to specify that no Stylistic Set should be used at all.The font I’m using already uses all 20 Stylistic Sets, so selecting a different, unused set is not an option. Can anyone help, please?
Last month, I finalized an InDesign file that features a lot of precisely-sized text fields and tables. It was all perfect, good-to-go for this month’s deadline. I went into the file a few days ago to make a minor edit, and suddenly the Open Sans font was behaving very strangely - InDesign made it look like the Bold instance was missing altogether, and any time I added or deleted text anywhere in a field or table that used Open Sans, the field or table reacted as if I were inserting a font of a larger size, and the carefully designed field and table bounds were exceeded, creating hundreds of overflow errors across the document.I have tried: Re-installing Open Sans on my computer (and restarting), both trying the variable variety and the static variety of the four instances (regular, bold, italic, bold italic) the document uses. I restarted between each attempt. Following the advice of our office's most experienced InDesign user, I installed the Open Sans family through Adobe Creative
I saved my Indesign Book doc to a new folder on my computer. Adobe moved it to the cloud instead which I never to. I always choose to my computer. How do I get it back? The instructions I have found are as follows: Locating Your InDesign File in the CloudTo retrieve your InDesign file that may have been saved to the cloud, follow these steps: 1 Log into Adobe Account: Go to the Adobe Creative Cloud website or open the Creative Cloud app. 2 Check Cloud Storage: Look for your saved files in the cloud storage section. Your InDesign document should be listed there if it was saved as a Cloud Document.I logged in but cannot find the ACC website nor open the CC app and I don’t want it. I do not want to purchase anything else. I also find the web sites very sparse of direction or information. How do I get my doc back, since I created a new folder for it and it is not here? Thanks
Every month once Indesign is updated, our whole company is unable to open adobe. They get the error "indesign.exe - application error. The application was unable to start correctly (0x0000142). Click OK to close the application." This has been an on going issue for a few months now. The temp fix is to run a repair on the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable which fixes it until the next update comes out. This is for windows 11. Is there a more permanent fix for this?
Es para poder realizar un catalogo, que se angancharia con un pluguin (EasyCatalog CC 2024) y tiene que tener el mismo año para que funcione
Every so often, since working on my current iMac (2017), my Application Frame in InDesign gets stuck on my second 32" Benq monitor. The top bar area sits just behind the menu bar. Once it's there, it's there. The accessibility to reposition the frame is now not possible. Even switching the Application Bar, the background frame is still stuck and cannot be moved.Surely, there must be a limit from stopping the Application Frame from running off behind the menu and off the top of the screen, or at least allow an interactive method in a dropdown menu to reset the Application Frame back within the frame of the monitor. For the moment, the only way I have found to resolve this would be to 'Delete InDesign Preference file' (Shift+Control+Option+Command) on start-up and reapply my personal settings and workspaces. After resetting, this crucial part of the frame is now visible.I'm running MacOS Mojave Version 10.14.3, on an iMac 27-inch 4.2Ghz Intel Core i7 running a second 32" Benq screen. I have downloaded Creative Cloud. Want to make a new Indeign file. Made 1 single page and want to save it...pop up : this file is dammaged..it’s a new file and nothing in it yet
I want to set some default regular expressions in a paragraph style, for example:Regular expression: (\d+)Quote style: myDataParagraph style: myStyle=app.documents[0]..itemByName(“AA”),myStyle.properties{}Thanks.
In the recent InDesign versions Adobe has introduced HarfBuzz as the default text shaping engine but the Justification alternates feature is now not working in OpenType fonts at all, we have confirmed it by testing Arabic fonts. For Adobe text rendering engine this feature still works seamlessly but for Harfbuzz this fails silently. Is there some compatibility issue of Harfbuzz with Adobe paragraph model or we are missing something as we have tested several fonts with same result? It has disturbed all our past documents as the users use this feature in the whole documents to beautifully justify the paragraphs using justification alternates.
Hello,I need help debugging a crash involving dialogues. I’ve built a plugin for CC 2026 using the C++ plugin SDK, which works fine. As a next step, I wanted to implement a dialogue box. Integrating the BasicDialog example worked well, but that wasn’t enough for me as I need tabs. So I tried to incorporate the BasicSelectableDialog example. Unfortunately, InDesign crashes on launch. The last call I can see in the crash log isCDialogObserver::AutoAttach() I’ve also tried copying all the pre-processor macros from the example project file, but that didn’t work either. Could someone please help me debug this?I’ve attached the crash report. Best regards
This is an odd one, I double click on an indesign file, indesign and the file opens up but indesign goes to the background on my Mac, and the finder to the foreground then the Mac doc appears and stays there, I have to then click on the indesign layout to bring it to the front, the doc still stays until I click on something else on the doc then it disappears. This started when an agency sent me a brochure to work on and now it is happening with every file I open. I have searched and not found anyone with the same problem. So far I have deleted the Indesign preferences and that didn't fix it, then updated to the latest indesign and that didn't work either. Both illustrator and photoshop are working great. I would be grateful for any advice. Thank you. My set up is: Mac Studio 2023, 64GB ram, Sequoia 15.7.1, Indesign 2026.[Moved to InDesign by a moderator]
I’m preparing a museum grade gallery exhibition of several 16” x 22” framed images. The images have a 1-1/2” margin all around. My workflow is negative scans to Photoshop to InDesign then export to Acrobat PDF. I’ll be conferring with my printer who uses large commercial Canon printers (Pro 4000 and 6000) about the final settings, so I’m preparing for that interaction. I published a picture book last year with the settings used here and it came out perfect. But fine art photography is a different animal apparently.Paper: photo rag baryta paper 308 GSMGlazing: Tru Vue Museum Glass (non-reflective, UV protection)My photoshop files are saved as Embed Color Profile: Adobe RGB (1998).InDesign export format: Adobe PDF (Print).Current Preset, Compression, and Output settings: see images attached.Let me know if any further info is needed..
i had a window open, which apparently is a rectangle but is empty- cannot resize it, cannot click enter, cannot close aplication. and will not allow me to click anyhting else. i am on the latest version. any ideas?
There are allOjcetStyles, but there is no 'allObject StyleGroups'.Is there any way to correct the following code so that it can recognize all situations of groups, including nested groups within groups.var creGroup = newGroup("myGroup", "objectStyleGroups");function newGroup(grn, sgc) { var d = app.activeDocument; for (var i = 0; i < d[sgc].length; i++) { if (d[sgc][i].name == grn) { return true break } } return d[sgc].add({ name: grn });}
Hi there.I'm completely new to indesign. How do I make a folded greeting card?
Hi, I have a multilingual document created in InDesign that I need to export as an accessible PDF. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to successfully export language tags from InDesign? The content in Spanish is assigned unique paragraph styles, and I have defined those styles as Spanish under "Language" in character formats. However when I export the PDF from InDesign, Acrobat reads all of those as "English". Am I missing anything or do I have to manually update the language categorization in Acrobat? Trying to avoid that since it's a lengthy document but guessing that's my only option. If so, I guess it's not necessary to create separate paragraph styles for content in Spanish? Any other tips for exporting accessible multilingual PDF from ID would be great. Tagging our accessibility champion @Bevi Chagnon - PubCom.com in case you might have an answer 🙂 Thanks so much

Desde la última actualización no puedo colocar imágenes en inDesign, cuando lo hago, la imagen se ve, pero el programa se cuelga y ni siquiera puedo cerrarlo Since the last update, I can't place images in InDesign. When I do, the image appears, but the program crashes and I can't even close it.
Hi everyone! I'm new to InDesign and MathML, and I’ve been trying to change the font family for equations but couldn’t figure out how to do it. Is there a way to customize the font?If not, does anyone know what the default font for MathML equations in InDesign is?Thanks in advance for any tips!
I have a new laptop, but whenever i try to import user settings im having the error “Incompatible locale detected. Please choose a valid file to proceed”. both versions are updated to the latest : 21.4.1 x64
I have just updated InDesign through CC to v13.0, before the update... if for example, I went:File --> Adobe PDF presets --> Smallest file sizeThe location for exporting the file was the same location as the InDesign file. However, since the update, it exports to the last location I used. So, if I export document A which is stored in folder X to folder X, then go to export document B, stored in Folder Z, it opens folder X as the destination for the export, and I then have to browse through the files to select the correct destination folder.Hopefully the above makes sense.I work with so many files and at a rapid pace, so this is a really big inconvenience.Any help would be appreciated.Thank you
