InDesign

I have a project to create a book, but the page numbers need to use Arabic-Indic numerals (١، ٢، ٣، ٤، ٥). I’ve looked for tutorials online, but I haven’t found anything that answers my question. :(

Hi, I do have some old files are using PageMaker 6.5. I try to use InDesign 2022 to open it, seems not working. May I know How to open it and save it as PDF

Curious if anyone has had this issue. I have a freelancer using an older version of Illustrator and InDesign (I do not know which versions he uses). He recently sent me his working files for a project that includes die lines created in Illustrator and imported into InDesign.When I opened the files in the current version of InDesign, the path were no longer imported images--they were paths in InDesign. And they were completely wonky--they no longer looked like the die lines I had seen in pdf proofs he had submitted.If you look closely at the attached screen grab, you can see the original path that was created in Illustrator, which is rounded and smooth. Then you can see how the path actually looks in InDesign--angles and curves that do not follow the path that was created.i don’t understand how this could happen. Note that I am assuming that the issue is in the use of the older versions of the software and opening the files in the current version--but i don’t know for sure that is what

I can’t delete the note icons. I can get them to temporarily disappear but they always come back. They are a carryover from the file I copied so I could use the same styles and formatting. I saved it as an .idml file but that didn’t take care of the issue. 

Hi there,Please could anyone tell me if there is a way to (or why we cannot) reorder the colours in the drop-down colour palette…?I have created several colour groups and swatches (lower down the list than shown in the image below), but there doesn’t seem any easy way to simply reorder it so the colours and groups I use most are on the top… It would be so much easier if I could just move my favourite / regular colours by clicking on the line and moving it up or down the list. This would seem an easy thing to implement, but no-one seems to know why the functionality is not already there.  What am I missing, and can anyone help?I note there is not even an “Adobe Indesign” category in the drop-down list for Feature Requests, so I’d like to know where I’m supposed to be sending this… ?R A B

Bonjour,Mes variables d'en-tête ne s’affichent pas dans le livre si le style de paragraphe utilisé est dans le document précédent.Je fais un catalogue, j’ai besoin d’avoir mes titres 1, 2 et 3 en variables d’en-tête mais les documents étant très conséquents les titres 1 et 2 se trouvent parfois sur les documents précédents.Comment faire pour les récupérer ? J’ai 32 documents In design dans un livre de 5266 pages.Merci pour votre aide !!

インデザインで300ページほどある電子書籍を作っています。目次には、作者名、タイトル、ページ数を入れています。電子書籍用にPDFを作成し、作者名、タイトル、ページ数いずれをクリックしても作品該当ページに飛ぶようにリンク設定を一括でできる方法を探しています。今はPDF化したらAcrobatで一つ一つ選択してリンク設定していますが、時間がかかる上にミスも発生しやすく困っています。作り方としては、インデザインで作者名、タイトル、ページ数とそれぞれフレームグリッドで分けて制作しています（画像参照）調べるとスクリプトが有効かと思いますが、スクリプトに関しては初心者なので難しいものは分かりません。よろしくお願いします。  

Ich habe dieses Problem hier schon einmal gepostet, finde es aber leider nicht mehr. Wenn ich einem Objekt einen Schlagschatten zuordne und dieses Objekt danach auf meiner Seite verschiebe, verschiebt sich auch der Schlagschatten völlig willkürlich. Passiert auch mit Objekten, die bereits einen Schlagschatten haben. Der Fehler lässt sich in jedem ID Dokument reproduzieren und scheint ein Darstellungsproblem zu sein. Sobald ich das Dokument schließe und danach wieder öffne ist alles in Ordnung. CPU Vorschau ein bzw. ausschalten bringt keine Verbesserung. Ich vermute einen Bug im Programm. Ich frage mich nur, warum dieser nicht schon längst behoben wurde. der Schatten wird über Effekt → Schlagschatten erstellt   korrekte Darstellungfalsche Darstellungen sobald ich das Objekt verschiebe   Indesign 2026, version 21.2OS Tahoe 26.3.1 Video kann man sich hier herunterladenVideo

Hello everyone,I have kinda an issue with my Indesign and can't find a way to solve it.As you can see in the picture below I have 2 sizes in my text at the same time.This mostly happens when I copy my page with text and then change the size.When I change the pt to a round number the second number keeps coming back.Does anyone know how I can solve this problem? New version of InDesign won’t PDF certain pages that previously worked fine in 25 version. Taking up lots of time trying to work out what images need to be replaced or even what pages (says p20 but might be 25). Once sorted it often generates PDF to near the end of doc and then just freezes. Is there a work around or an update coming for this? Its so time consuming. 

Hello all,I am not new to InDesign but new to the latest version. I haven’t used the software for several years.This is my most strange problem:I create a new multi-page document, give it its basic specs in the Document Setup window. I go to the first page, draw a text frame. The default font is Minion Pro, 12 point, left-aligned. All seems fine. I have not yet created any character or paragraph style.I type my very first word… and it has a drop cap!The only Paragraph Style is [Basic Paragraph], the only Character Style is [None]. In [Basic Paragraph], under Drop Caps and Nested Styles, all parameters are at zero and the Properties panel confirms that the current character style is [Basic Paragraph], which has no drop cap… except that it does in my text frame!I would love to hear your suggestions as to what might be causing this. I have several images in the same folder that need to be relinked. When I relink a file, InDesign doesn't see all the other missing files in that folder, even though I have checked "Seach for missing links in this folder". Am I doing something wrong?

HI everyone, does anyone have a script that can: choose missing links from the active document and relink them to the folder that we also put its path into the script, so that i only need press 1 button to do it?

How do I get rid of the border around the text box and every image I place in InDesign? Can you preview your work? Thanks!

All of the InDesign work I do requires both English and Japanese in the same document. To access the Japanese text features, paragraph settings, and print options, I need to install the Japanese version of InDesign. However, I work much more efficiently using the English interface.In the past, I was able to install the Japanese version first, then uninstall it and reinstall the English version. This left the Japanese features and settings available while allowing me to use the English interface. Unfortunately, this workaround no longer seems to work with the current versions of InDesign.Is there a new method for achieving the same result?I'm currently using Windows, but I'll be switching to macOS next month. If there's a macOS solution, I'd be happy to hear about that as well.

Blijkbaar heb ik één keer een telefoonnummer kunnen vinden voor hulp. Toen hebben ze mijn PC even overgenomen, en van alles verwijderd, waarna ik één keertje bij mijn account kon komen. Blijkbaar kan het allemaal niet werken met een PC waarop ook een VPN is geinstalleerd, ook al gebruik je die niet. Ik kan toch niet de enige zijn die een VPN-programma op de computer heeft staan, en met Indesign wil werken (zonder VPN, dus). Ik kan niet eens mijn abonnement beëindigen, omdat ik nergens bij kan komen. Hoe bereik ik dat onbereikbare bastion van Adobe???????

InDesign 2026, exporting to a small PDF file doesn't work!!!! The PDF is way too large.  

Hi everyone,I'm having trouble opening an InDesign document and keep getting the loading circle (‘the wheel of doom’) for an extended period, with the file never opening.So far, I have:Updated InDesign to the latest version (v21.5) Restarted my MacBook Tried re-opening the file directly from OneDrive Downloaded a fresh copy to my desktop Tried opening the backup files, but they are experiencing the same issueUnfortunately, none of these steps have resolved the problem 😣I'd really appreciate any advice or suggestions on what else I could try. The project deadline is at the end of this month, and I'm becoming increasingly worried that I may have lost months of work!!Thank you in advance for any help! 😊

It used to be that every time I updated InDesgn I would change the number in the applicationpreferences .plist from 256 to 257. That worked and I got all the character handling extras etc. Until this time. Changing the number resulted in no change and no Japanese handling. I really need it, so any advice would be urgently appreciated!(And no, I don't want the Japanese version, just the extra text handling options in the English-language version)

I want to find all instances of the glyph (with unicode value \x{f067}) which appears before and after glyphs that have a red character style.I want to apply a character style to it

The problem - the debugger starts but breakpoints aren’t being triggered.  More so - the debugger panel doesn’t launch when debugging starts.   After hours of searching - the problem was indesign was not launched with sufficient permissions to allow the bridge between it and VS Code.After confirming your launch.json and //@target and //@targetEngine are correct - make sure you launch both VS Code and the Adobe app, Indesign in this case, are run as administrator on the Windows side.

I have three things that annoy me on a daily basis.1. There are constant white flashes - I have tried changing GRU performance.2. The blue circle that runs at the top and shows the document is saving keeps on running (see attached illustration).3. When I have to import an image into an InDesign document I can no longer switch between alphabetical order and last modified. Can anyone help with some of these problems?
