Hello, I’m creating a generator of designs in Adobe Illustrator with the goal of having a single .ai file containing dozens of designs. Each design includes text fields and images linked to variables. In the final version, each variable will be connected to dozens of different fields. At the beginning of the project, I had two designs where some variables were linked to a single object, while others were linked to multiple objects. Everything worked fine, and there were no issues when importing a .csv file. Unfortunately, after expanding the project with several more designs, the following error started occurring. When importing the same .csv file, I get the message: "The current file already contains variables. Do you want to overwrite the current variables and data sets?" I can either choose "Yes" or "No." If I select "No," nothing happens. If I select "Yes," another error message pops up: "The filter operation cannot be completed because an unknown error has occurred.

Hi everyone,I'm working with existing script "VARIABLE IMPORTER"  that require constant variable updates with data from CSV files. This involves manually selecting and replacing multiple instances of identical words, which is extremely tedious.I need a way to automatically select all words with the same content. For example, if I want to select "GRABME", that all occurrences of "GRABME" in the script are selected simultaneously.Additionally, I was wondering if there's any tool or method that allows saving and loading word or object selections, similar to how it's done in Photoshop. This would allow me to reuse frequent selections and further streamline the process.Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This dialog no longer appears, how do I get it back?

In Illustrator, I am working on this figure of a tiger woman. I cut a section of the body, and when I attempted to move it, the whole body moved.  

I have an Adobe illustrator file that has white filled circles on a map. When I Export the image to a png file, the white fill does not show up. The circles fill appears transparent. What am I doing wrong? Can any of you experts help me out? I can provide my file if needed. Thanks - Jon

I purchased a copy of adobe illustrator 2026 (lifetime license)when launching its saying request access to this app i also have adobe photoshop installed, this comes from my workplace via creative cloud. how do i fix the issue for my illustrator? its not from my workplace, i purchased it seperatly and cant get it to launch​​​​​​

Adobe illustrator 30.2.1Windows 11Actions will not record going to the menu ‘File’ and goint to ‘Scripts’ and launching a script. I would like to map a function key to my script. I have an action done in an earlier version of AI so I know this should work. Also I cannot find an ‘Export actions’ anywhere in the flip out menu.

I’ve been using Illustrator for a few years now to do all of our instrument design work, then exporting the files to .dxf and bringing them into a couple different CAD/CAM software (first Carbide Create, now Fusion 360).   I’m running into a problem that seems to have only started recently, but since I haven’t upgraded Illustrator in quite a while (didn’t really need to), I’m not sure what update the problem first appeared.  In the earlier version (27.x, not positive about that), when I bring the .dxf into Fusion, it places the design perfectly on Fusion’s origin point, because I placed that point on the centerline horizontally and vertically in Illustrator.  Now, in the current version (30.1), it doesn’t come into Fusion where it’s supposed to anymore.  I was going to just re-install the older version, but the Creative Cloud app doesn’t go back that far.Here’s what it looks like upon importing the .dxf into Fusion now.  Note the orange circle is where I placed the origin in Illustrato

When I have Illustrator (the latest version) open, the screensaver and monitor sleep do not work on macOS Sequoia. In Activity Monitor, there is something called CEPHtmlEngine, and it shows 'YES' in the Prevent Sleep section.What is this thing, and how can I make it stop preventing sleep? To put it mildly, it's quite annoying. 

I create decorations on Illustrator, I work on large artboard.I start with about 150 GB of disk space. I work, I save... I only have 15 GB of disk space left!I close Illustrator, but I don't get my starting disk space back.I have to restart my computer to get back to my starting 150 GB.It's very disappointed when I'm working on several documents at the same time.I tried clearing the Illustrator cache and/or deleting the temporary files... but nothing helps.Anyone have a solution to (really) purge the Illustrator cache without having to restart my computer and waste my time every time?Thank you in advance for your help, and excuse my english, Benjamin

Is there a way to confine selections to only the current artboard?Background: I have a document with several artboards. They're all duplicates of each other, with just slight variations. Because of this, they all share the same layers, but I want to be able to do operations like Magic Wand and Select All… but only affect the current board.

I have a small operating problem for which I cannot find a solution.I have assigned a brush to contours (artistic brush, ink). Looks great - but the outline is always semi-transparent. But I want it to be 100% opaque. I searched in the brush settings of the brush itself (no setting option that would have changed anything). Even in the usual control panels (Contour: Opacity, Appearance, etc) everything is set to 100% and ‘normal’ Even if I convert the brushstroke to paths, everything is not 100% opaque. Although the settings of the resulting shapesshould have 100% opacity (see screenshot on the right). Is there no way to change the appearance of the predefined brush to 100% opaque? I would be grateful for a specific tip. LG, Hubertus

How do I add stroke (line width) and change color to text box frame? I am trying to add a border to the text box without having to add another rectangle behind the text box.

Hi There, II’m having an issue with a big file worked on ai. and saved as a pdf.When we want to open the file again in ai. the have the error message: “Illustrator could read partially this file,. We recovered as much of the file as possible, but some content might be missing. Open to view the recovered file.”Then if we click on “Open”, the file become an image, and all of our layers, lines are flatten ->so not workable anymore. Do you from where this error can come? Thanks a lot for your help. 

As a scientist and group leader, I am very concerned each time Illustrator repeatedly suggests that I use generative AI on my scientific data. I of course will not use this feature, but my junior scientist trainees may be tempted. I believe Adobe will cease to be the leading scientific platform if they don't produce a product line for academia that does not include generative AI.   Please consider?   thanks Laura   [renamed by mod]

I have an Adobe Illustrator document that contains two separate PSD files.One PSD is used as the background, and the other PSD contains a visual with a shadow underneath set to Multiply blending mode. In Photoshop, the shadow correctly interacts with the background. However, when these two PSD files are placed separately in Illustrator, the Multiply shadow does not interact with the background PSD and does not darken it. The layer order is correct, and there are no issues in Photoshop. The problem only occurs in Illustrator when the PSD files are placed separately. I would like to know whether this is a known limitation or a bug related to how Illustrator handles transparency and blending between separate PSD files. If there is a recommended workflow to preserve correct Multiply blending, I would appreciate your guidance. Thank you,Özge 

I think a few others are having this issue, but I'm yet to see any response and/or fix from Adobe.  Retype has successfully identified the font in an image, but there is no 'apply' button (only an exit button) so no way to convert into editable text.  Retype add-ons are already activated in CC App.   Anyone found a solution ?

Hello, last months I have issue with dragging objects between two documents. If I drag object from one document to another it wont switch view to document where I want to drag object. Any help?   Igor

Hi, I have a problem with my illustrator CC 2025. I try to use the gaussian effect on any vector object and when I apply multiply and adjusting the transparency, the effect changes. See the difference with the first image and the last? Once I play around with the transparency of multiply blending, the gaussian changes effect differently even I change back to the same setting as initial starting.  Does anyone has this problem and solved them?

The "Object selection by path only" option is unchecked. But I still can't select objects unless I clicked its path
