Hello everyone! I have a question to ask.I have added Tags ABCD in InDesign, and I want to use a script to change the color of these Tags during the operation, to distinguish between the state before and after the operation.I have reviewed some related materials and found that the color of Tags can only be set when adding an XMLTag, but I can't find a way to modify the color of existing Tags using a script.I hope someone can guide me. Good morning, I am working on a 260 page document composed of many one page individual protocols. The document needs to be used in two ways:1. One version must be a fully compiled 260 page .PDF document with embedded links referencing different pages.2. Another version will be uploaded to a website, and will be parsed by protocol into individual .PDFs for ease of access (and to reduce individual file size). Because we have several people working on this document, we decided to develop each protocol as a separate .indd file. We are thinking that we will be able to combine all of the files as a book to generate the fully compiled document. My problem is that I need to come up with a paradigm for linking between these documents that will work for both solutions. I am thinking that linking to relative paths would make the most sense, because then the file structure could be uploaded directly to the website to preserve those links.1. Does anyone know the correct way to place

I have a book project, at 316 pages. It's an autobiography. There are 2 distinct sections with a break in the middle. I didn't add the “blank pages” in the middle, and everything has been indexed. The indexer did a magnificant job, and I hate to ruin it, or manually have to change each entry. How can I add 2 blank pages at the beginning of Section 2, without throwing all the following page numbers off? I am using InDesign 20.0, and have set up an indb file. Thanks!

I've run into file corruption before. Asked for advice at the time and he fixed it for me for free.He couldn't be bothered to share his method with me me when I asked him to show me how to do it.I have also seen similar tools available online, the free ones can't fix it and the paid ones I haven't tried.In the past few days, I have seen online that you can use a script to convert the file to IDML, is there really such a script?Convert directly with a script without opening the file?   <Title renamed by MOD>

Radio buttons append when copy/pasted, right? For instance, when a text field is copy/pasted, the new field will have a number appended onto the name. Field 1, when copy/pasted, becomes Field 2. That way multiple fields can have the same name and tab correctly according to the numbers in the name. We have been creating a bunch of forms over the past few months and I swear I have used copy/paste on the radio buttons. There are multiple radio "Yes No" buttons in many of our forms that need to have numbers appended to the names for them to tab and work correctly. I started on a new form that has 26 lines, with four radio buttons on each line. There will be multiple pages with this exact setup. I always get the first line set up and named, then copy/paste all the lines after that so that they tab in order. This time I noticed the radio buttons weren't working, and on further investigation realized they will not append when copy/pasted. I KNOW they were doing this before but now I'm qu

Hi, I am working on graphics and diagrams for a book layout and when I place them in InDesign, the PPI is much higher than 300. Does that matter, or is it not an issue as long as it's above 300?The graphics are very simple, mostly just shapes and lines. Thank you!

I have now produced several epub books with Indesign/Sigil successfully (thanks in no small measure to Community help), mainly just text but I have managed to combine them with a cover image. I have also managed to add some images into the text, combined with a caption by grouping it with the image - and anchoring the image to the accompanying text. So far so good. But now I have a project where there are about 100 pages of text, followed by a series of about 14 images of varying sizes - including captions - followed by another 100 pages of text. With this series of images I can anchor the the first one to the text immediately above. But what do I do with the remaining images? If I don't anchor them they all revert to the end of the book but there is no text to anchor them to. Can I anchor them to each other in some sort off daisy chain? Or do I add a hidden element and anchor to that? At the moment I am baffled and would value some advice.

I have a problem. I have a workspace called Keith. It is my default. When I open a file on my laptop, it opens with the Keith workspace. However, when I open a file on my desktop, it opens with either the Essentials workspace or no workspace. I have trashed my preferences, twice, once with an older version and just now with InDesign 2025. I keep my worskpaces synced between my laptop and desktop using GoodSync (wonderful program). I just moved all of my workspaces to a backup folder and then copied all of my workspaces from my laptop to my desktop but the problem persists. Obviously there is something that is not in a workspace file, and not in Preferences, that is telling InDesign the wrong thing about which workspace I want. Anyone have any idea where that erroneous information resides and how I can correct it? Thanks in advance.

Regardless of how high the resolution of the image (300 dpi and higher), I keep getting a pixilated image when I publish the document on line.  I have tried resaving the PSD file with different names, different extensions (PSD, TIFF, etc) and I am having this issue with one image.  I have even used a different image and for some reason, this one image, regardless of what version it is and how high the DPI, it is always pixilated when published on line. Can anyone help?

Hi, I'm stuck with a weird problem with IdDesign 20.0.1 and 19.5.1 on MacOS. For a month or two I've been working on different macine (PC), then went back to Mac to fina out that after some Apple and Adobe  updates InDesign improperly register mouse clicks. As this misbehaviour started recently I suspect that some Apple patch broken something. But I do not experience any issues in other applications! Everything seems to work normally but InDesign. If you click a frame, InD registers a click-and-hold while I just clicked it with trackpad and lifted the finder up (see video). Second, if I put editing mark into the text and go to Paragraph style to apply it, the palette doesn’t register the click properly—it seems it registers a drag, not a click! I can only try to click multiple times in a row, very quickly, and then there’s a chance the click will be registered (as on the second video). Clicks with Wacom tablet seem to register properly in first case, while

Hello,I am working on my first book layout and was wondering if graphic placement like this is standard? I know every book is different, but I am unsure if this is ok. This is a non fiction book. I will have more graphics throughout the book. What is the best way to ensure consistency across various graphics that will be added into the layout?  Thank you! 

HiFrustratringly I can't click to add or delete pages at the bottom of the pages panel as all the buttons are hidden by the summary overlay. No matter what I do (i.e. rescaling the window etc) the issue remains.This has literally only just happened since the update - which btw, you seem to force us to use as the previous app edition always disappears from my sidebar.My previous issue raised in another discussion thread is STILL happening. Literally just done it again - where the work on my pasteboard just disappears from sight.See below for visual reference of issues:

I'm using InDesign v20.0.1, and all of a sudden I no longer have sliders in my color panel. RGB, CMYK, HSB, nothing. Very annoying. Anyone else experience this, and did you figure out how to fix it?

So, InDesign v20.0 crashed whenever I tried to export any number of pages from a book to PDF. Fortunately, with the recent update to v20.0.1, this issue seems to have been fixed. However, as I am working on a book with close to 300 pages, I noticed that exporting to PDF still fails. I tried exporting smaller portions of the book, which worked fine, and then gradually increased the page count. But as soon as I exceeded 256 pages, the error dialog reads: "Failed to export PDF file." and "Possible cause of the error can be found on the printed sheet with the page number '259'" (translated). Interestingly, the page number referenced in the error is always the last page of the export range. For example, if I attempt to export 280 pages, the error suggests the issue is on page 280. Can anyone replicate this issue and confirm?Working on a MacBook Air M2 with MacOS Sequoia 15.1.1 by the way.

Hi!For some reason the footnotes from the Word documents end up being part of the main text in my InDesign document. How can I fix this? I have been searching through other post, but have not yet found a suloution for my problem.

Hello,Maybe someone can help me -I have laid out a book (not with stories, just 156 pages).I have Heading1 style applied to the chapter headings throughout the book.The text was imported from a Word doc, so the majority of the book is threaded text boxes.After laying out the whole book, I go to generate the TOC.For some reason, the only heading getting pulled is the Endnotes, which automatically generated a new text box. It has the exact same paragraph style applied. I tried a few other things other peope tried to fix their TOC, including saving the file as an IDML, and deleting the extra text boxes I had to separate out the Chapter Headings, but still no joy. If I make a new (unthreaded) text box and apply Heading1 style to the text, THOSE show up in the TOC. I really don't want to have to make a TOC manually, and add jump links manually, because chances are my client will have edits and I'll have to redo it again. Any leads would be most appreciated!

Can someone help me create a script? I'm trying to create a script to create a path and then apply "arrowheads" to it. I can't apply "arrowheads" to a created path, only create the path. I've tried other possibilities, but I can't. Hallo, ich habe ein Problem mit Schrifttypen aus Fonts, die ich in InDesign verwende.Ich bekomme in jeder bearbeiteten InDesign-Datei eine Meldung, dass ich unerlaubte Schrifttypen verwende, die in meinem Adobe Fonts aber aktiviert sind. Das Problem tritt in Photoshop aber nicht auf.Ich verwende InDesign 2024 Hat jemand eine Idee?

I have developed a few interactive PDFs and within the past month or two began experiencing problems where the hover states "stick". Once exported to an Interactive PDF multiple users experience this issue across various platforms. I have looked into spacing of the buttons and file size and cannot seem to find a sustainable solution. There have been a few other posts but I have not seen a final work around or reason behind this issue. Details:When there are multiple buttons on a page with hover states if a user hovers over the active area the button changes to it's hover state. When the mouse leaves the active area the button stays in the hover state. The only way the hover state is turned off is if you re-enter the active area and leave again. The problem is sporadic, does not consistently happen with specific buttons, and occurs across multiple documents. Any input would be very helpful!Thanks!

Hi everyone! I have a document where the leading is not consistent across the paragraphs. I would like to set them all to "14.4.pt" and also add a 2 mm space before each paragraph. For that, I came up with the below the script, but for some reason nothing happens when I run it. Bonjour à tous,  J'aurais besoin de votre aide !  Je réalise des livrets de formation sur l'anatomie humaine via indesign (j'ai un macbook pro 13 pouces). Pour délimiter les origines et terminaisons des muscles, j'ai fait des ronds pleins et opaques. Lorsque j'exporte mon fichier en pdf tout est parfait, à l'impression tout est parfait. Mais quand la formatrice ouvre le fichier sur son ordinateur pour faire la formation aux stagiaires, les ronds apparaissent creux, comme s'il y avait uniquement un contour...Son Macbook a un écran de 15 pouces et sa tablette 11 pouces. Comment je pourrais faire pour que l'affichage soit identique sur toutes les tailles d'écran ? Merci d'avance ! 

I'm trying to create an index for a catalogue I'm creating, the index is creating fine but if the word is on multiple consecutive pages, it is puting each individual page number and I would like to know if there is a way to contract it down to the first and last number in the sequence, for example it currently says 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and I'd like it to say 1-7 is this possible and if so how do I do it. Thanks in advance.
