this is a 450 pg book with No art. ID gives a message-Failed to Export the PDF file. I have tried several docs, none will export

Hi, everyone! I wanted to update my Indesing and Photoshop, but it says I need to upgrade my operating system in order to get the 19.5 version. Do you know if I can download the 19.0 version meanwhile? In Creative Cloud it only gives me the option to download the 19.5 version. Thank you!   <Title renamed by MOD>

I am applying a grep style small caps using the following grep code: ‭\<‬AH‭\>|\<‬CE‭\>in some places it successfully works and in other places it only applies the small caps to the first letter. See image. I’m not sure why it does this. 

Hi, I'm on the latest Indesign version (21.0) and my Save and Save as dialog windows are blank. It started last week, before that I did not have this problem. I am using a work-around as Save a copy window works. I already tried setting preferences to the old dialog window, deleting caches and force restarting Indesign. So far to no avail. Hello! So I have designed a 71 page, 36 spread that contains all pdf images linked downloaded from Photoshop at 300 dpi. This is a portfolio so it contains mostly photos but I am having problems exporting this file at 20 mg currently the smallest I can go without ruining the quality is adobe print pdf at 150 compression( kept it at high) for both color and grey scale and the file is about 41 mg. I played around with the settings in adobe acrobat specifically the pdf compressor and got it down to 20.1 but the quality of the photos were rly blurry. I compressed the pdf and optimised scan pages which got to the range of 20. However the standard of quality is not where it needs to be. This portfolio is to view both digital and printed but I save another version for printing so I will use  that one bc have high resolution photos etc. But how do I get my digital portfolio down to 20 mg. I thought about changing all my photos to tiff or psd bc I read make it smaller but honestly I am rly conf

After installing InDesign 2026 (21.2) MAC it won’t package jobs. Any jobs...Getting the error “Cannot copy necessary linked files”.Same job package well in InDesign 2025 (20.5.2) MAC.No special characters in files or folders.Working on smb drives.Not an option to copy everything to local drive.Any ideas?

Iv made an image and iv got a link sonic can share it with my friends.  But...I want it to be a certain size, so that when my friends open the link..they can just press print on their A4 printer, and the image is automatically printed at around ¼ of A4 page size... im using my android phone and the app. Im not very technically minded at all..so step by step would be greatly appreciated. Someone said that when my friends get the image via my link..they just set to print at 25%... but I don't know the size of my image to begin with. When I click CTRL+D (place tool) through InDesign and try to search something in my folders, the search tool doesn’t work. I can be in the logos folder and type in “mcdonalds” and it wont search for mcdonalds logos. The only way I can bypass this is if I open the folder separately and not within InDesign. But doing that is super inconvenient and a pain. And this tool used to work perfectly.Does anyone know what happened and how I can get it to work again? I tried asking this question before but they said I was in the wrong community. So then I tried copy/pasting it in this community and it said its already been answered. But no one has actually answered it for me! And I can’t delete that original comment. So I feel like I am stuck. Hopefully re-wording this question helps. 

I have been trying to make an interactive form in inDesign with reasonable success, but there is one feature that I need to make the whole thing work; the capability to centre the text in the text field box that I have drawn. The Buttons and Forms tab gives me the option to change text size, but that seems to be the only option available in terms of text formatting.Knowing how to do other features such as making inputted text bold or underlined would also be helpful.I have looked around on tutorials but none seem to address my specific issue as far as I'm aware. If anyone is able to help it would be greatly appreciated.

Any feedback, help, etc., appreciated.  Thanks in advance. I’m using Windows 10, and I am having a problem with InDesign 2026. Whenever I close my last open document -- at least half the time, and totally randomly -- InDesign will close itself -- basically, crash. In earlier versions, when I was done with all my open documents, I would just close them all, then open whatever new doc I wanted to work with. But now, when I close that last open document, InD also closes itself. When I reopen it -- which is annoying to have to do over and over -- InD offers an opportunity to open that same last document, only now with a warning that it might be corrupted.  So, clearly, it didn’t properly save that last document, which puts any “last document” I close at jeopardy of corruption. Hi everyone :)I keep getting error notifcations on Indesign saying that my files are corrupted. I have reset my pereferences but the problem persists.I have also tried creating a new file and putting my images ect in there again.Saving the file as an IDML doesn't work sadly, the program crashes every time I try.I have tried making a copy of the file. I have gotten error code 0 and 2. I am working in Indesign  21.2 and Windows 11 (25H2) How can i fix this, what caused it and how can I prevent it in the future?All help is apreciated!

Hi, our org has had major issues with save files being ‘corrupt’ InDesign crashing etc due to a recent windows security update. I noted there is a newer version of InDesign which did nothing to fix and there was a threat microsoft were working on something. Is this fixed yet or not, I am reluctant to turn updates back on for microsoft but really don’t want to leave them off either!

All the examples you find tell you to traverse up through the selection’s parents until you hit the Page object. But in my experience, you never do. Hello,  Looking to run scripts from a UXP plugin - the scripts would do well to be packed in a neat panel of icons rather than out of the way in the scripts panel. All my attempts of making such have been fruitless, as I have zero idea of workflow. Do I have to rewrite scripts or can I just wire up buttons to scripts in part of the UXP package, etc  Any help/examples on this would be great  thank you  Smyth

I mistaked one document for another and closed the file without saving. When Indesign asked, I clicked, dont save. Now I realise my mistake, and a whole days of work has been erased!!! What can I do? Can anyone help??

Hello, after the last post with at last count about 46k views, this is a major issue with a thread that is now missing? Some have said it has resolved but I haven’t been able to get it resolved because Windows Update KB5078127 isn’t available for me after checking for updates (in AUS running 25H2).The problem is that for files saved on OneDrive, InDesign crashes upon open or when trying to save.What another helpful user has said:Discovered a workaround on this, thanks to the help of our support company Air IT Group. On opening the file, make a change in the document (e.g add a cyan square to pasteboard), rather than 'save', click 'save as' and save as over the existing file name > then close the file > reopen the file again and 'save' function should now work without falling over, erroring or crashing out. Each time you open it for the first time, you'll need to do the 'save as' each time over existing file name for it to work. It's a frustrating workaround but at least you'll be

Hi all, I was wondering what’s the best way to export a brochure document in Indesign 2026. I want to make a rgb version in 171dpi and a cmyk version in 300dpi. Whats the correct way to do this? I have one document now in rgb. Can i do this by only use the pdf export settings, that would be a fast way.Hope anyone can help? 

Hello,I’m experiencing a blocking issue with the Package function in InDesign 2025 on macOS Tahoe 26.On macOS Sonoma 14.7, the Package function works perfectly with the same document.On macOS Tahoe 26, I tested on two different Macs and the issue occurs every time.When trying File > Package…, InDesign returns the error:InDesign could not package the document. Cannot copy the necessary linked files.  Details:All links are valid (no missing or modified files).Fonts are activated and not missing.The issue happens whether I try to package to the Desktop, to a folder in Documents, or to an external volume.Tried with “include fonts” checked/unchecked → same issue.Tried saving as IDML before packaging → still fails.This looks like a compatibility issue between InDesign and macOS Tahoe 26, possibly related to new file system permissions. Is this a known bug? Is there a workaround or an upcoming patch?Thanks in advance for your help

Changing display text for hyperlink is removing / deleting the hyperlink.Manually typed in footnotes. I highlighted the text “10” > right clicked > New Hyperlink > Put in URL (for this example dribbble.com). Went back into the doc realized “10” needed to be “20” highlighted my hyperlink and typed in “20” > Hyperlink is suddenly gone. And it’s happening with every hyperlink I’ve changed the display text on. I’ve never had this issue before. I’ve also done full resets of everything and I am running the latest update. Screenshots in order of process. help.
