Does anyone have a good file-sharing system for InDesign?Currently using Dropbox and working from home. I have a Dropbox folder which I share with colleagues. I work solely from this, so all content I use is structured within it. When they open my files, my colleagues in the office have broken links because Dropbox uses absolute paths and so the user name part of the path is different for each of us, resulting in the missing links. We don't want to package everything as not all work is complete and it is disruptive having to drop what you are doing to do this - we've even experienced issues with packages and missing links anyway. InDesign doesn't deal in relative paths. We are using MacBooks and Sequoia, apparently we can't move the folder outside of the User folder, although I'm checking this again with Dropbox. It used to work well in Adobe Cloud but they discontinued the CC synced files ability. We have a server and I have a VPN and access but this is slow with images and

Hi, I have an unwanted page around each of my pages and I can't seem to select or remove them at all. I have tried going into the master sheet as well but am still unable to remove? Please help! 🙂

Is there a keyboard shortcut to jump to the next or previous page and keep it at the same magnification and position?Thanks!

The process to make a color gradient is so ridiculous in inDesign that it is not even funny. I don't think I am stupid, but nothing seems to be intuitive and it does not work.

Hallo zusammen,nutze ein MacBook Air mit OS Sequoia 15.1 und habe seit heute (!) bei InDesign 20.5 das Problem, dass fast sämtliche Kombinations-Befehle mit Maus und Tastatur (also z.B. mit gedrückter Wahl- und Maustaste ein Element duplizieren, oder mit space- und Befehltaste die Lupe aktivieren) nicht mehr funktionieren.Gestern ging es noch, ich hatte nichts verändert. Auch ein Id-Update heute auf 20.5 brachte nichts.Danke für einen Tipp!

Hi,I'm learning basic scripting and today I need to apply an export tag to a paragraph style for PDF export (see screenshot) across dozens of documents. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to use a script to automatize this time intensive process.Does anybody have any tips on how to do that?

Like some other posts I have seen, my clients can't download the magazine I prepare each month. There is no problem with the viewing - just not the downloading! I have, of course, clicked the allow downloads check box! I have also tried packaging the magazine document to see if that throws up any issues. The only one is that some of the photos are RGB and others CMYK is this a possible reason? There doesn't appear to be any problem with the file name (which I have seen as a problem for some others with this type of issue). Bonjour,quand je fais une variante de mise en page avec mise à l'échelle sur Indesign, les blocs de typo changent de taille. Mais lorsque je veux modifier la taille par la suite, ou voir la taille réelle de la typo, je n'y arrive pas. Y a t'il un moyen d'annuler l'agrandissement ou de savoir la taille réelle ?

I cannot figure out why when exporting PDFs in InDesign SOME (not all) of the images on the docuent do not show up when previewing the file in any program.... The image is there when the file is openend in acrobat... most of the time, occasionaly it will not show up OR print  for a client I have sent to but is just fine on my end.... I have searched settings and posts and have found nothing helpful at all. See the screen shot sample below of the same file open in acrobat that is NOT showing the image when previewing the image in its folder... this happens on other devices not just my desktop computer... Please help... this is SOOOOO frustrating.

Running a script to find and replace based on a Character Style, and it works fine if the Style isn't in a folder.However... in a folder... not so much! What I have now:*appliedCharacterStyle:"dropShadowBoldItalic" But if I put that Charactrer Style in the folder "Text Styles", it doesn't work, and I haven't figured out how to get it to work. I tried:"Text Styles:dropShadowBoldItalic",which I saw somewhere, but didn't work. Couldnt' find any other reference for doing something like this, so hoping there's a standard syntax that works.Thanks!Bonus question: is there an offical Adobe GREP reference? *Ok, I'm not really using bold italic with a drop shadow

When I click on Packages on inDesign 20.2 it is nearly full screen width. How do I get it back to normal size? I have tried everything.Thanks. Barry

I asked about this a while back and someone said it could be done by scripting, but I could not write a script if my life depended on it, and while i do have a friend who has done this, his script is hanging and also costs money, which I am short on now:The challenge:Replacing Adobe's boring FN separator ( a line) with a graphic object or a formatted text like "These are my footnotes". Anyone want to take a shot at it?All I can contribute is that I see the ones who are selling the solution say to create a textbox and give it a name in the layer panel (I guess to tell the script what to use for the custom divider).I asked ChatGPT, and its solution doesn't work.Any ideas?Thank you, and have a good day!Susan Flamingo

I have a landscape Table in InDesign 2025. I converted the column head to "Convert to Header" in InDesign then rotate the table to Landscape in InDesign, in PAC checker 2024 it shows the error "Table header cell has no associated sub cell". Landscape table output PDF view. In the below landscape i can't able to fix the associated sub cell.In the next page i have the same table in portrait format I fixed that error "Table header cell has no associated sub cell" I added associated Cell ID Please refer the below screen shot.PDF Portrait Table view: In this Table I don't have any issueLet us know how to fix this error in Landscape table I attached PDF for reference. ThanksGanesh.R    

Since updating to 18.5 a couple days ago, I can no longer easily replace text in the documents from Share for Review comments. My coworkers place notes to replace text, and when I highlight and press copy, or right click to copy, nothing happens!! Now I have to manually type in their text, or go to my email notifications to copy the text. What gives!

I know that there is a manual solution to do this via the File => File Info menu. See images below.The export option saves an XMP file containing all of the file metadata. On a new file, you can import the saved file and select different options about how to treat existing data and what is contained in the file. I would like to create a script that performs these actions in a controlled and repeatable way for users.I am having trouble identifying the relevant UXP objects that would allow me to do this. Has anyone had success with this sort of import and export behavior?  

For example, my layout only has one column.However, my text box has three columns with a column spacing of 6 mm.But the settings for each ID document may be different.If frequent switching may cause errors, I came up with a solution to set 3 and 6 in a paragraph style.For example, the paragraph style is named: columnSeting@3@6When I run the script, it automatically sets 3 as the number of columns and 6 as the spacing. Are there any other better methods?

Does anybody know what this three-circle icon means or does? It appeared when I copied a grey rectangle and a textbox from one doc to another. I set up both docs from scratch, so it's not someone else's setup. Never seen it before in the decade or so I've been using indd... Any ideas?

I'm not talking about exporting it to a PDF. If someone else opens my file in a new computer, I want the images and the texts to be visible like the original. Is there a way to do this?

I'm trying to move the lines above experience and education in this InDesign template I downloaded. The template is  File #:  236511150 on their stock website. The second image is of the master page where these lines do not appear. I have also included the layers panel, where only the text on the page is listed. I am unable to "unlock all on spread" or move them after clicking "override all parent page items". I'm stumped, thanks for all potential help!

Hi everyone, I'm doing this for the first time, so please excuse if this is an obvious question. Trying to export a 60-file book to EPUB, and I'm getting a missing font error: Minion Pro. I didn't even use this font in my layout, so I know it must be something coming over from one of the Word files I imported, and it's lurking in some random empty paragraph style somewhere. There is another one in there, Dubai font, which I replaced in all instances (it was my Heading 1, but I replaced it with Museo Sans) so I don't know why it is still in there. Both of these I need to ferret out. I can't seem to make Find/Replace work at the book level. I can't open the EPUB that was generated in Kindle because of the error. Can anyone help? I'm using InDesign on Windows, v. 20.4.1.

"All spreads cannot be hidden. At least one spread must remain unhidden." Is there a way to save this file? I can't drop the indesign file because it is too big, but I would be willing to send an email.
