When creating PDFs from Word and Outlook, I frequently get the error message shown at the bottom of this post.  The error message comes in the form of a text file (instead of the PDF) that's created when I try to convert.    I learned a while back that this can be avoided by going to Windows Printing Preferences and unchecking the box that says "Rely on system fonts only: do not use document fonts."  However, the software periodically changes it back to having that box checked (resulting in error messages again).  Today, the software wouldn't stop generating error messages on the document I tried to convert until I closed out Word.  My questions are: 1) Why would anyone want this box checked?  2) If Aptos is not a common font, why would this not be included in System Fonts?3) Why does my preference get changed back periodically?  Is there a way to make this stick?4) Why would a company as sophisiticated as Adobe default to somethin

HelloProblemOutlook crashes for one of our users when they try to open a PDF attachement from their email they received. As soon as they try to open the .pdf from the email outlook crashes because there is a problem with the Adobe Document Cloud for MS outlook add-in. Outlook disables the add-in but our user needs to use it.Solutions tried:1) Already tried to see if I could have her work around when disabling the Add-in, but it gets re-enabled, so it will need to be used2) Tried repairing both Adobe and Microsoft Office 3653) Tried fixing the load behaviors in the registery for Adobe Add-ins4) Make sure that both Adobe Acrobat and MS 365 applications are up-to-date with most recent versionOveriew:None of these solutions worked and the user is still having Outlook crash. I will be reinstalling Adobe to see if this works. Does anyone have a solution to this?

Hello, I have exported Acrobat files into postscript files. When I try to convert the same files back into pdfs, I receive this message "Adobe Acrobat could not open [file] because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged.  Postscripts are supported file types and how are multiple files damaged simply from converting them from pdfs into postscript files? I need to convert high resolution files into low resolution files that can be emailed. Any helpful insights would be appreciated. Thanks!  

Regarding the Windows version, there is a problem that third-party plug-ins are not displayed in the Acrobat tool list."Use only certified plug-ins" in the following settings (Edit -> Preferences -> General -> Application Startup) is not checked, but it is set to "Currently in Certified Mode: Yes",It looks like it's stuck in a state where only Adobe-Certified plugins can be used.I've done some research and haven't found a way to change the settings for "Currently in Certified Mode".The Mac version has "Currently in Certified Mode: No", and you can use third-party plug-ins without problems.I suspect that this is a problem with the Windows version of Acrobat.Please tell me how to change the setting of the "Currently in Certified Mode" of Acrobat for Windows.Thank you.

I spent an entire afternoon creating a form.  This was my first time doing so.  Foolishly, I saved as Reader Extended PDF and overwrote the original file (Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools).  Now when I open the file, I am unable to edit the form even though I am the original creator.  I choose “Prepare Form” with the file open and then hit “Start”.  I get a message that states: “This document restricts some Adobe Acrobat features to allow for extended features in Adobe Acrobat Reader.  To create a copy of the document that is not restricted (and has no extended features in Adobe Acrobat Reader), click Save a Copy…” When I “Save a Copy” as instructed, I get an error message that reads, “You cannot edit this file as a form due to its security settings.” I am now clearly stuck, and the entire day was a waste of time.  Does anyone have any suggestions for recovering my ability to edit this form? Much thanks

Hi all, Whenever i open a document in adobe acrobat, i get this grey box, but nothing appears on it. I cannot close it either. So basically the program is unusable. 

Hello, I want to know is there are a way to disable the option of see all the pdf that I have open in the task bar I mean istead of see this:Just see one (the last that i have open): But still having the other pdf files open and inside the program choose the pdf that I want using the top bar. Is there a way to do this?

This is on: Adobe Acrobat Continuous Release Version 2023.001.20093 64 bit, Windows 11    In this new just released acrobat, we lost the ability to put and have the marquee zoom handy in a toolbar (or side panel, as it is now). We can access the tool from the menu (View -> Zoom -> Marquee Zoom) but this is cumbersome and inefficient.    Is there any way in which we could customize the side panel and add this tool (or some other handy tool like 'Take Snapshot' or the marquee snapshot tool as I call it).    It seems like the "Show/Hide -> Toolbar items" functionality is now gone, and this is bad. Can we request that this be back for this new side panels?    Attached are some screenshots of acrobat version and the new side panel.   

I use watched folders to create PDFs from .ps files, everything worked fine until last week, but this week Distiller crashes immediately. I haven't changed any of the system settings, .joboptions preset settings, I haven't updated anything. Distiller crashes even when I drop a .ps file into an application with a preset from watched folders, but if I choose a different preset, created in Indesign, the PDF is created.I have the given .joboptions from the printer, so I can't use a different preset. Distiller crashes even when I try older created .ps files.I don't know what else to try, I deleted the Distiller presets, reinstalled the whole Acrobat, maybe some fonts are causing it, but I haven't installed any over the weekend.This happens on macOS 15.5 + the latest Adobe collection.

Hi, trying to log into the web home page for acrobat, so I can use the E sign.Nothing showingup as previous documents, shows no documents, keeps coming up with the following error; Request e-signature services are temporarily unavailable. Some documents and information may be missing. Please try again later. I have urgent documents that need signing for legal reasons today.T/his is not what we expect when paying for a premium e sign service. If anybody else has recommendations on abetter service provider, please feel free to share. 

When clicking on "Add comments" , the comments window comes up and says "This is a restricted file". However, you can still add a comment and start making mark ups without issue and the the message no longer shows. If I disable New Acrobat, it seems to resolve the issue, however; I'd prefer not to do that. This is happening with all employees we manage in our admin console.

Hello! Hoping someone may be able to help.I've created this worksheet for a client which calculates a spending and retirement budget. I created all of the calculation fields in Acrobat 2025 (Mac). The "Total spending" section calculates a monthly and annual amounts. The annual amount basically multiplies the monthly by 12. Simple, right? When entering values starting at the top left, the first section performs as expected, but the remaining sections don't totally calculate the annual correctly until you tab to the next section and enter a value. Not ideal, but we can live with that. The real problem is in the "Discretionary spending" section - the annual cell doesn't calculate properly until you tab through the cells and enter a value in the first "Social Security" cell. Very much appreciate any insight into why this is happening. 

Hello,Apparently, there is software on the market capable of reversing redactions, even if the document is password protected. For this reason, my work replaces the redacted text with placeholder characters like “XXXXX” or “YYYYY,” so that if someone manages to bypass the protections, they still cannot see the original content.Given the sensitive nature of the information we handle, this is a significant concern. We don’t mind using placeholder characters when there’s only a small amount of text to redact, but it becomes quite difficult when redacting larger sections, such as full paragraphs. Additionally, we want to ensure that page numbers remain intact, since decisions often reference specific pages.Is there a solution for this issue?Thank you.

Hello,  This is just a courtesy post for those that may be in the same boat I was. With a lot of ADA compliance coming in 2026, one thing our office is doing is making sure docs, PDFs, etc. are ADA compliant. This does include the read aloud feature in Adobe working properly. Recently had a user whose sounds worked for everything BUT read aloud in Adobe.  There's a lot of guides out there about reinstalling, checking voice settings, etc.  But my fix wasn't listed anywhere that I could tell. One thing to check for is making sure compatibility mode is TURNED OFF. I had turned it on for this user as their Adobe was running really slow and that helped for the slowness problem. Turning off compatibility mode allowed the Read Aloud function to work immediately. Hope this helps someone!

When working with my Outlook emails I keep getting an intrusive Acrobat prompt that reads, "Share as a link. Anyone on the internet with this link can access." How do I make it stop?I followed these instructions, but it is still happening:To disable Adobe's "Share as a Link" feature in Microsoft Outlook, open Adobe Acrobat's preferences, navigate to "Email Accounts," and uncheck the option "Always send files as a link" Any suggestions? Is it possible to do a search of the Destinations navigation pane? I want to be able to find a specific word contained in the Name of the Named Destination.

I have 100s of existing pdf files, where I've entered text box comments. It's typically on upper left hand corner of document for ease of viewing when I open it. Now the Text Property pop-up menu covers those comments if I try to edit the text box or if I create another text box anywhere on that page.  Weeks and weeks of work have gone into creating my text boxes in academic papers. Would love to shift or delete this Text Properties Pop Up. I don't ever need to chance font size or colour. I need to read my old text boxes. Thanks for any help you can give.

Why can't my plugins work? on adobe acrobat its greyed out

When I added two PNG images to my document, I noticed that they appear blurry after exporting and compressing the file. Is there a way to replace these PNGs with PDF or SVG versions? I assume using vector-based formats like PDF or SVG could resolve the blurriness issue. Thanks

I created a custom stamp that needs text to be edited on top. It's an approval stamp (replicated from a rubber stamp) that we are trying to use digitally. There are spaces for codes and job numbers and approval initials that need to be filled in but the text doesn't show when I "edit text" > "add text". Any suggestions on how I can do this? It kind of defeats the purpose if it needs to be printed, hand written then scanned. Screenshot attached. The red "stamp" is where I need to be able to add text. Hi,Every couple of weeks, Acrobat goes screwy.  I'm using Acrobat 64-bit, all current updates are installed - the IT team ar work uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat last week and today it happened again.When it happens it slows my laptop  down for 10-30 mins - laptop only intermittently responsive, no taskbar, black screen coming and going.  Generally the laptop seems very close to crashing and once it did crash/reboot.I managed to open task manager and it showed that Acrobat was using 20GB of memory (yes, that's GB, not MB), even though I didn't even it open when the problem started.  If i'm quick enough I can use task manager to close the Acrobat process and the laptop recovers back to normal.Maybe Acrobat was going through some sort of update process, but that shouldn’t have caused it to use 22GB of memory and the problems I experienced.I think maybe it was the updater running in the background – but it shouldn’t be using such a ridiculous amount of memory.Has a
