After Effects

When I press play in my timeline, it plays only the rendered part and starts looping it. This has never happened before so I have no idea why is this happening.Also, when I leave the playhead and don't play the video at all, it doesn't render... Normally it would render when inactive...Can anyone help me?

Hey! I was working on a project and used two shape layers with gaussian blur to serve as lights on my composition. When they're 2D, it works normally, but once I enable 3D mode they turn really Dark. I'm using Classic 3D renderer and none of the layers have any blending mode enabled. I also tried to deactivate the "Accept Lights/Accept Shadows" option, but it didn't work either.Can you help me? I'm attaching pictures of how the layers look like before enabling the 3D mode and after. 

I was trying to animate a Google earth studio map with city names with shadows on it. Thus I discovered that After Effects 24.6.1 doesn't have cast shadows if the renderer is Advanced 3D. Am I wrong with the settings somewhere or in the Advanced 3D shadows are not cast at all?See an example in the video. Only the classic 3D works. And the Classic 3D would have been fine but for it missing extrusions for layers, which I need and only the Advanced 3D does them

Hi, I am currently trying to work on a project within After Effects. We are required to add transitions, and I am new to doing so on this program. I am trying to transition from clip to clip, but seem to be unable to do so as my "clip" consists of multiple layers. I have attached a photo below. What should I do to go about this? Any suggestions? Thanks! Anything will help.

Hi community. When I make a line using the pen too, on both edges there's semi transparent pixel. how can I make the edges to be sharp when ever I make a line, if its possible to not have an half pixels projecting from the main shape? I'm always moving the shapes up down, left and right to try get it pixel perfect.Thank you.     

Since the last update, when I have multiple unlinked files(footage and images), when I replace footage on one item, After Effects still finding the other unlinked video files but no the images, so I have to relink the images one by one. The names of the images are the same and are placed in a equal folder structure as the old loaded files. Is this a bug or I can fix it with some setting?

Hello ! I recently made a 3D Object that i wanted to import in AE (beta 24.0, that supports obj and glb files). I imported a glb and an obj file to test which one works, and when i import the 3D object into the scene, i can't see the object, it's selected, but invisible. I imported an image as a background, to see if it was because my object is glass and it needs a light/background to reflect to, but it didn't work I think it's because the 3D object doesn't use the background to reflect, but how can i fix that ? 

Hi!  I'm wondering if After Effects can read and export different types of 3D-textures on a GLTF-model for example? From what I hear some things like procedural textures need to be baked, and vertex colors might work, and triplanar mapping won't work at all? Just wondering if someone has more knowledge than me with this and knows more for certain what type of textures work vs won't work?  Thank you in advance. 

Hi. Fairly new to After effects, but I can't seem to change the color of a stroke. I've created a fairly simple handwriting effect which reveals the text, but it appears to be stuck on white. When I change the color of the stoke in effects to blue, nothing changes. I've tried applying key frames to change the color but that doesn't work either.  I assume some other setting is conflicting this with but as I'm fairly new I'm unsure what this is. Thanks

I'm working on a couple of new scripts. I tried installing the script using the File/Scripts/Install Script File menu. I meant to use File/Scripts/Install Script UI panel. After running the install I got a nice message that my Preferences were updated and the new script now shows up in the File/Scripts menu, but I didn't want it there so I went to the application folder After Effects 2020/Scripts folder, it isn't there. I tried a search and found my original file, moved it, then deleted it completely and it still shows up in the File/Scripts menu. I searched the Library, reset my preferences, searched the entire hard drive, and I can't find the JSX file anywhere.    Who knows where this file was installed? I can't find anything in the documentation and there is no option to uninstall script files.    My little experiment failed and now I have a useless script in the menu that is not supposed to be anywhere on the system.    If anyone has any ideas please l

Hi Community. I have imported a PNG sequence of a logo spinning around 360, currnetly its just orbiting on its axis, and  I want to add some interest to it. I'd like for the object to start of slow, and gradually build up speed, going faster and faster. Can somoene please let me know a simple approach? Thank you.

I hope someone may provide a solution.When using the E3D plugin my model textures visually appear correct and with correct difuse colour.But when I press the OK button and it drops into AE the difuse texture is washed out & to light.This occuring on both plain elements with for expmple a brick / wood floor texture applied and with standard E3D standard model pack.It maybe a setting I missing?Any assistance would be most appreciated.

In this composition there are 12 rings one over other with a rotation of 30 degrees. With the positional change only it create a visible rotation. How can it be explained? Video and file also uploaded.https://easyupload.io/e3rdwg  

Hello,I have tried everything to get rid of the Error code: cached preview needs 2 or more frames to play back and nothing works. I have cleared out all of the cache on my mac, uninstalled and reinstalled After Effects and the Creative Cloud twice, and watched every youtube video on it. Holding down Command+Option+Shift while its starting up doesn't show me anything about it reseting my preferences. I have the 2020 version of After Effects and am working on macOS 10.15.7 with 8GB and plenty of storage. Does anyone have any ideas of how to help me?Thanks

I was trying to edit my video on After Effects but my video won't show up in the space where I should be able to see the video's visuals. I circled the area in red in the picture below. I can hear the voices and the music fine, but I just can't see the video. Does anyone know how to fix this?   Title edited by Mod.

Ive come across this problem where everytime I open the audio waveform for a layer it will cause my entire composition to become slow and choppy no matter what im trying to do (opening more will cause the problem to increase). No matter how much or little is in my composition it'll cause my movements to be slow and choppy. Ive tried using different audios and compositions but the same thing happens. would appreciate any help! I have tracked my footage and placed my 3d model on the track solid, added an environment light with an HDRI because EXR file is not working, when i click at track solid's "on" at accept shadows i get the shadow of the object but when i hide the track solid, the track solid goes invisible along woth the shadow so i am unable to get the shadow only while hiding th track solid, i am using 2025 version of after effects and 3d advanced renderer, the accpet lights option is missing here for me. please help

Working in a project and the select tool (v) is stuck as a rectangle shape tool. No matter which layer I click on, it just starts making a rectangle. CTRL Z doesn't even undo it. It's also doing it in every comp in the project, even one's without any shapes or masks. I can't click anything and am only able to move by using the arrow keys or dragging position. Please help ^->

It appears that a recent AE update changed requirements for plugins to be run  while this is a marginal win for anti-piracy (it requires pirates to self sign their bundles, or write an installer to do so, but let's face it most pirates are not buying luxury computers), it would mostly seem to break older plugins which for various reasons have decided not to sign. Since most of the effected plugins are free (The best reason not to sign a bundle is because it costs $99 a year) there are probably a few useful and widely used plugins that have been bricked. Is there a place this change could be documented? is there a place the error codes in the plugin loading logs are documented?

After Effects keeps freezing when previewing compositions, especially with heavy effects. Tried clearing cache and adjusting RAM settings, but no luck. Anyone else experiencing this? Any solutions?
