FrameMaker

When I edit text and the zoom level is 160% or greater, the display fails to update properly and any text which has shifted is overprinted. I can refresh the display, of course, with CTRL+L or by scrolling, but making complex edits is nearly impossible.  It's fine at lower zoom levels. Unfortunately, for the time being, I must  use high zoom levels in FM due to an eye injury.  Here's what it looks like: Changing the font and using displays with different resolutions haven't helped. I've played with the DPI compatibility settings (by right-clicking on the FM executable) to no avail. Is there anything else I can try? Graphics: Nvidia RTX A2000 laptop GPU.FM version 17.0.1.305. 

I have clicked on View-Reference Page and scrolled to the page that pertains to the formatting of the Table of Contents. I make my changes..(Bolded, added a tab, etc). I click on View-Body Page to return to the Table of Contents of the book. I save the work and the click Apply Update to Book. The Table of Contents does not change to what is on the reference page. I have no experience with scripting or the coding that is on the Reference Page. How do I get the changes I made on the Reference Page work?Thank you.

Hello. I am trying to import a cross reference format from one chapter to many. First I go to the book and select all the chapters that I want to receive the format. Then I go to the import feature and deselect all but "Cross reference formats." At that point I choose "Current document" as the source.  When I hit the Import button the program gives a little blip as if it's doing something, but when it's finished I find that the cross reference format is still not imported into any of the chapters.  What am I missing here? TIA,Bill

Hello, looking for a little advice! I understand this is probably a limitation of framemaker but hoping maybe someone else has dealt with something like this or has an idea that I am not thinking of.Per the customer’s format: Table titles end with a period and when a table rolls to another page the period appears at the end of Continued. The inserted variable is showing as a character space which isn’t what we want. Is there another way to close this space (see red arrow below)?  (And this isn’t something that we can suggest to the customer to change their style and location of the period or to nix it all together, as we are not in control of the publication just providing supplements to their existing manual. I don’t think they are using FrameMaker to author in either. Currently were are splitting the table and handling the formatting manually.)Thank you all!

My company is looking to migrate from their current Sharepoint site to a new Sharepoint drive; currently all of our images are located on drive #1. If we move those images to drive #2, I expect the links to be broken, but then if I relink one of them through Object Properties, will Framemaker try to relink other missing files from that directory automatically? Or is this something a script might be needed for? Or should we just not do that... we have a pretty fair amount of images connected to a decent number of books.

When I click email link in pdf document it opens blank page in browser instead in g mail!Any idea how to solve it!

I've converted a 60,000+ manuscript from a plain text editor to FrameMaker. In the plain text document both the opening and closing quotation marks (around dialogue) use the " (double quotes). How can I convert them into the appropriate “ (smart opening quotation) and ” (smart closing quotation) respectively? Straight Quotes are turned off in my Preferences, so the smart quotes appear when I manually type them in the FM document (needless to say I'm not keen on doing this manually.)

Framemaker 17.0.2.431, structured.Source .fm files contain multiple hyperlinks, cross-references and hotspots. All are functional within Framemaker. However, when the book is output to PDF (using 'Save as PDF..') all the hotspots in the PDF lose linking functionality. All hyperlinks and cross-references in the PDF remain functional.Some notes.....Acrobat Reader recognises the hotspots (clickable 'pointing hand' mouseovers), but the reader (me) is not taken to the destination, sadly.All the hotspots were applied to text frames in the .fm files and reside in the master pages.Thanks in advance for any help you can provide with this issue.

In the screen shot attached, I have text on page 8 and I want Policy - Configuration - Uncategorized and the text and following table to continue in the space on page 8 instead of starting at the top of page 9.  Probably a simple fix but haven't run into this previously. Thanks.

Hello.I'm here to ask the problem to make mini toc automatically.I'm dealing with structured document so I can't use the menu to make mini toc.Even I try to convert xml to fm file or erasing structure menu, I couldn't make mini toc.Is there anyway to make mini toc automatically for structured document with scripting or somthing?I wish I can get some tips to learn about this.Thank you for reading this. ps. In ditamap, there is the top level topic xml document and 2 level topics are under top topc as different documents like the below image. 

I’m converting DITA XML documents into FrameMaker documents by applying paragraph and table styles through the EDD. I’ve created a new table style, formatted it in my document template, defined it in my EDD with a context formatting rule. The table cells are being correctly formatted, but the table seems to default to having the row lines included. I have created a List of Effective Pages using the List of Paragraphs function. It is all working exactly as intended except for one thing. For the first page of each section the entry for the Issue Number and Issue Date is listed before or above  the Section Number. Thus the Issue Number and Date appears as the last page of the section before.  How can I change the order of the items so that the Issue Number and Date appears below the Section Number. I have attached a picture where you can see what I'm talking about. Currently the text for the Section Number is in the heading for the the Table of Contents page for that section.  I could "fix" the issue by inserting another page at the front of each section which has just the Section Number on it but I'd rather not have to do that.  I've figured out how to re-arrange the order of the data contained within each entry by re-arranging these on the Reference pages and figure there is probably a

I am writing code in C++ on Visual Studio (hereinafter referred to as VS) to create a plug-in (dll) to add a menu using FDK.I created a simple sample using VS2022 (FDK2022 specification) to display "Hello World" when FramaMaker2022 starts."Hello World" is displayed when common language runtime support is set to "Do not use common language runtime support"But,If I select "Common Language Runtime Support (/clr)", an error message will be displayed indicating that the API client cannot be initialized.Do you know if it is possible to specify "Common Language Runtime Support (/clr)" as the common language runtime support when creating a FramaMaker2022 plug-in (dll)?If it is possible to specify this, I would appreciate it if you could give me advice on setting other items.

I am trying to delete this 'Chapter 1' from the template, but when I do that, it appears in the next page. Please suggest how can I delete this. 

We are using FrameMaker 2017 for a document that typically publishes to PDF but now must publish to HTML, as well.  We've resolved most of the mapping issues, but we continue to struggle with the output graphics, particularly with equations. Equations are converted to images in the HTML output (and in most non-PDF outputs I've tested), but the images are so blurry and poorly rendered that they can't be used. In the Style Mapping settings, the JPEG resolution option only goes up to 100! I've tried multiple setting changes and it only gets worse, not better. Is there some way to increase the equations output resolution or is this a known issue for which Adobe has no solution yet? 

Does anyone know a way to move the insertion point and focus to the first paragraph of a document using ExtendScript?  When one of my script ends, the insertion point and focus (page displayed) is wherever the insertion point is located in the document when it finishes.  I'm looking for code that moves the insertion point to the beginning of the first paragraph in the document and also displays the first page on the screen similar to how "Go to First Page" in the Page Status tool at bottom of FrameMaker does.  I could close and reopen the document, but I don't want to automatically save the changes until the editor has reviewed them.  I've searched, but can't seem to find anything about this on the forum.

Hey guys, it seems FrameMaker has an issue with building PDF with several fonts (left out in PDF). We're trying to fix that issue for a couple of weeks now and it looks like FM can't handle fonts with bigger names such as "Segoe UI Variable Small Semibol" "Bahnschrift SemiLight SemiConde[...]" "Open Sans SemiCondensed SemiBol[...]". Is there any fix for this? Perhaps it works for other users? As we rely on the Open Sans fonts (official google fonts) this is critical for us 😞 Building PDF with these fonts using other tools (Word etc.) works perfectly. Any help is greatly appreciated! 

I have an Adobe illustrator graphic template designed for a landscape full page in framemaker. The graphic in Illustrator is sized at 8.7 in x 5.87 in. This template has been used through years of Framemaker upgrades. Previously I was using Framemaker 2020, no problems.  After upgrading to Frame 2022, I opened the book, it asked me to link the graphic, and now the anchor frame for a full landscape graphic is a half page landscape anchor frame.  I deleted the graphic and anchor frame and tried to reimport it.  To import the graphic, I put the mouse (I-beam) on a new line, select File>Import>File and select the AI graphic. It still opens up as a half page landscape graphic. The only way I can fix the graphics is select each anchor frame throughout the book and edit the frame back to full page landscape.   Any idea why this is happening?I attached a photo of the landscape page. In Frame 20, this was a full page graphic. When upgrading to
