When ID packages the file, it is simply not possible to package the fonts all together. A nice font packaging script that someone else shared for free. But it prompts an error for some files. Any god willing to help to fix it? English translation in parenthesesThanks a lot. Hello Adobe Team, I would like to request that Adobe InDesign once again include support (or at least a conversion feature) for opening **PageMaker (.PMD)** files. Many designers and publishers still have important archives created in PageMaker, and it has become very difficult to access or update those files since modern InDesign (CC versions) no longer supports them. Even a simple **"Convert PMD to INDD/IDML"** option or a **legacy import plug-in** would be extremely useful. It would save time, preserve historical work, and help users migrate old projects without depending on outdated software like InDesign CS6. I Know this is Very Old but if Including this Feature Indesign Again Market Leader and Forever.... I have tried many times to switch to InDesign, but I couldn’t because of this problem. I don’t just have one or two PageMaker files — I have a lot of them, and converting or recreating each one is very difficult. That’s why
The following code on a tables cell… cell.leftEdgeStrokeColor = app.swatches[0]; cell.rightEdgeStrokeColor = app.swatches[0]; translation “Swatch expected, but swatch gotten”Results in this error. Thats probably not a helpful error message.Oh, and BTW, the Bugreport “Category Listing” does not have InDesign, so i had to chose something else...
I have mysterious blank space showing up at the bottom of a page. The text refuses to flow into it. I’ve checked for hidden objects, deleted the page itself, and replaced the text. Nothing I’ve tried fixes it. I’m attaching a screen shot with an arrow pointing to the blank space. I’m working on a Windows machine. It’s throwing off my pagination. On a different topic, does any one else find the new requirement to choose a “Category” on this page a pain? There is so much vertical space, and it’s not alphabetized, that it’s frustrating and time consuming.
Right now, I can only write it like this:var objPath = app.documents[0].objectStyleGroups.itemByName(ObjStyleGroup).objectStyles.itemByName(myObjStyle);objPath.textFramePreferences.insetSpacing = [2.5 * 2.834645, 0, 0, 0]But I want to write it in the `properties` section, like this:objPath.properties = {textFramePreferences.insetSpacing:[2.5 * 2.834645, 0, 0, 0]}But that seems to be wrong.What should I do?
InDesign is doing this semi freeze thing when I place or replace images. Random images and random formats. The background task hoop turns on and I can do somethings sometimes but not always. If I close everything then close the program there is a message but it's up for a half a second, disappears and then a new start window opens then refuses to do anything else. I have to "End Task" to get it to close. I've deleted tempfiles, uninstalled and reinstalled, turned off GPU, and did that Ctrl + Alt + Shift thing.
I am evaluating Adobe InDesign Publish Online as a platform for the annual publication of an interactive public-facing report that will be embedded within a client’s website. The publication is expected to be approximately 80 pages long and will include numerous images, navigation buttons, and interactive elements throughout the document. Before adopting the platform as a long-term solution, I would appreciate some technical information:Are there any recommended limits regarding the number of pages in a Publish Online publication? Are there any limits related to the overall size or complexity of the document (animations, buttons, interactive elements, etc.)? Are there any limits on traffic, bandwidth, or the number of views for a single publication? Does Adobe provide any guarantees regarding service continuity and the long-term availability of published URLs? What best practices does Adobe recommend for large-scale publications intended for a broad audience?Thank you
Hi everyone - I have just bought a new MacBook and everything seems to work except for the mouse in InDesign. I have just tried working with text on a document created on the previous computer. I need to place the curse quite a bit higher than the text that I wish to select. I am using the trackpad on the MacBook. Any suggestions would be gratefully received!
Can anyone help me remove these white boxes? I published online a project from indesign and indesign does not show any of these white objects. Now it is appearing in all of the pages once i publish it online. any idea of how can I remove this?
Custom Workspace in Indesign includes extra panels. Some instructions say to set the panels "with no document open." When there's no document open, there are no panels. I've tried doing it in a brand new document, but it still insists on displaying the Swatches panel. I’m on Windows.
Hi, I’m working with a lot of tables in a document. These tables contain some graphics that are grayscale. The issues is not with the images, but the preflight keeps telling me multiple tables have the “Content uses RGB” error. I have double checked the graphics, even deleted them, but the error persists on the table. None of the swatches are color, they’re all black in different tints. Pictures of the preflight error, the preflight profile, and the swatches attached.
I have been running into this problem for about a month now. Occassionaly when I am using InDesign I notice that my CC Libraries freezes. I will initially be able to use my libraries and place items, but eventually it freezes and looks as though the whole CC Libraries is a blurry jpg image (see attached photo) instead of the normal looking CC Libraries side panel. This issue seems to arrise in InDesign when I left click a placed object from my CC Libraries to edit original in Illustrator. Once I save the original file in Illustrator to update it in InDesign, and then go back to InDesign, then my CC Libraries in InDesign are frozen as I described above. The only way I have found to fix the issue is to save my work, completely exit InDesign, and then reopen the application. I am working from a 2015 Macbook Pro running MacOS Catalina, if that's helpful.
InDesign 2026 (21.2) x64 Changes resolution when opening a file from within the application. This resizes the window so that it is completely impossible to grab any of the corners or header bar. I have to quit the application and restart. Happens around 30% of the time when opening a document while InDesign is already open. Screenshot attached. Windows 11 laptop running multiple monitors. I should add, this started happening a few updates ago.
I had very important Photoshop and InDesign files on there that were not backed up. Is there any way to retrieve them? I have the recovery documents but am unable to open them since the drive is inaccessible. I was using InDesign 2025 - since 2026 was giving me too many problems already. I was unable to save documents on ver2026 so I switched a while ago. Now I am experiencing problems with ver2025. Please help!!
Adobe InDesign 2026 – Document Recovery / File Corruption IssueI have a critical graduation project due in one week and I need help recovering an InDesign document.Environment: Adobe InDesign 2026 macOS Original INDD file size: 254.2 MB Document length: approximately 146 pagesAfter an InDesign crash, the application launched Document Recovery. Recovery was able to display the latest version of my document, including the most recent edits that had not yet been saved. However, once the recovered document appears on screen, InDesign becomes unresponsive. The macOS spinning beachball appears and the interface freezes. The document is visible, but I cannot work with it.Recovery shows the latest document content correctly. The document pages are visible.Sometimes I can briefly scroll or click before the application freezes.CPU usage remains around 100–106% for extended periods.CPU time continues increasing, indicating that InDesign is still processing something. The spinning beachball remains a
I have this simple script that fills a blank page with textframes: function makeLorem(length) { var result = ''; var characters = 'ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789'; var charactersLength = characters.length; for ( var i = 0; i < length; i++ ) { if (i>0 && Math.floor(Math.random() * 6) < 2) result += " "; else result += characters.charAt(Math.floor(Math.random() * charactersLength)); } return result;}function getFrameContext() { fc = {}; fc.doc = app.activeDocument; fc.margins = fc.doc.pages[0].marginPreferences; fc.w_idx = 0; fc.h_pos = fc.margins.top; fc.h_size = 0; fc.addTextFrame = function(t) { var productFrame = this.doc.textFrames.add(); productFrame.geometricBounds = [ this.h_pos, this.margins.left + this.margins.columnsPositions[this.w_idx*2], this.h_pos+20, this.margins.left + this.margins.columnsPositions[this.w_idx*2+1] ]; productFra
I’m experiencing two ongoing issues with InDesign’s Review feature that have been consistently reproducible for the past three months. Issue 1: Review links fail to update on larger documents When uploading a publication for review, I can no longer update the existing review link. A persistent error appears stating: “There was a problem updating the artefact.” This workflow functioned reliably until approximately three months ago. To rule out local issues, I tested the same document and process on a second machine, with identical results. Through testing, I’ve found that if I halve the document size (testing both the first 30 pages and the last 30 pages independently to rule out a problematic element), the review link does update successfully. This suggests the issue is related to document scale rather than specific assets. The publications I work on are graphically intensive magazines, typically around 2.5GB in total size. Images are linked, not embedded, with many PSD files used thro
I want to create new paragraph styles named “a1” and ‘a2’ under the “AA” group. When creating them:I’ll first check if “a1” and ‘a2’ already exist; if so, I won’t create them again, but I’ll move them into the “AA” group. If a1 and a2 do not exist, create them.
All my books (several hundred) are formatted using the Times New Roman TTF font. The new version of InDesign 21.0 changes that to Times New Roman OTF.Fortunately, version 20.0 is still installed. I know from experience that strange things can happen in updates.. However, the problem with the latest update has also been introduced in that version.OTF is only available with a licence, which I do not have. I would appreciate some help.Cor van Wijgerden <Title renamed by MOD>
I have a similar problem---cannot open top menu because of spinning blue dial. Cannot open preferences or any other menu item.
I'm using Indesign 2023 and I'm trying to type Arabic. I turned on the Adobe World Ready option in the Paragraph panel, but the direction of the text is wrong. symbols end up in the opposite area instead of the correct area. I looked at YouTube videos and the place where they go does not exist in my version, where should I go for this? to make the text direction RTL for a certain paragraph? Thanks!
I’m creating a Regional cookbook in InDesign. Each document has multiple recipes. There are multiple documents for each region. When I bring the documents into a Book files I don’t see a way to group the 5 different regions. Sorry, it’s hard for me to explain.Example:Northern region has 7 files (each a different state with multiple recipes)Middle Regions had 5 files. “ ”Southern Regions has 6 files. “ ”When I bring each file into the BOOK project, I don’t know how to differentiate which chapters go with the separate regions. I would like to color code each chapter to show which region it’s in. Is there a way to group chapters or make subchapters, or anything to group things together?
When open InDesign 2026 on a screen with very high resolution, some icons get double size in docke panel: This is only seen on a Mac with arm-processor. When open InDesign on the build-in (retina) screen, everything looks fine.I found the post “InDesign 2023: Big icon in docked panel”. But the solution described there, did not solve the problem.Any ideas how to solve this?
I’ve been using InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop for almost decades now, and I have to say: for the amount of money Adobe charges, it’s an absolute disgrace how many basic things these apps still can’t do.Simple, intuitive tasks just don’t work. I’m genuinely furious right now.I created a book layout using facing pages. Now the design needs to be changed to single pages instead. The moment I switch the document setup, the entire layout gets completely destroyed for no logical reason whatsoever. InDesign can’t even remember the margins, guides, and structure I’ve carefully set up. Instead, it just does whatever it wants and leaves you to clean up the mess. It’s incredibly frustrating. Adobe makes an obscene amount of money, yet somehow still can’t build software that handles fundamental layout changes in a reliable way. Features that should have been solved years ago are still broken, unpredictable, or unnecessarily complicated. This will be my last year paying for Adobe. After all th
I am working on a 550 page book. I have added a Table of Contents and am currently adding extensive indexing. i hear that as I add more and more index entries that InDesign is more and more likely to start crashing. Are there ways to help avoid it crashing?
