File A  File B Hi everyone,I'm trying to reproduce the paragraph/tab formatting from one InDesign document in another.I've attached two screenshots:File A = the correctly formatted document File B = the document I'm trying to formatIn File A, the section entries are formatted so that:the section number (e.g. 3.) is positioned at approximately 2p9 the section title (e.g. Right to information) begins at approximately 3p0 the Tabs panel shows tab stops at 2p9 and 3p0 the Paragraph panel shows Left Indent = 3p0 and First Line Indent = -3p0In File B, I have set the Paragraph panel to the same values:Left Indent = 3p0 First Line Indent = -3p0File B also appears to have tab stops at 2p9 and 3p0.However, I cannot reproduce the behaviour of File A.For example, in File B I have:4. Central Registrar.If I place the cursor after 4. and press Tab, the tab character is inserted, but the text after the tab does not jump to the 3p0 tab stop.The same happens when I try inserting a tab before the section

I want to develop a plugin similar to Word's Track Changes feature. Looking for clear guidance on where to start.It should include the following functionalities: Building a Plugin Panel: The panel interface should roughly look like this: a. dropdownlists to view changes from version XXX to version YYY. b. An "Add" button to create a new version. c. An "Accept All Changes" button. d. A toggle to enable/disable Track Changes. e. A "Deletion Show State" toggle: Toggles the display of deleted text between a small red dot and strikethrough text. Deletion Tracking: When text is deleted in real-time, a small red dot marker should be generated. Clicking the "Deletion Show State" button on the panel should toggle the visibility of the deleted text, displaying it with a strikethrough effect. (Note: This should be a custom visual effect, not InDesign's built-in strikethrough formatting.) Insertion Tracking: Newly added text should be displayed with an underline. (Note: Just like the deletions

När öppnar InDesign måste vi alltid ändra typsnitt, varför? Vi har installerat de fonter vi önskar och har redan dessa i vårt system, men måste ändå byta. Önskar våra fonter som standard.

I have documents with “Page A of #” on the Parent page.  If I add a page to the document, I currently need to manually change the Parent Page.  Is there a way to automatically update the number of pages - the “of #” - when a new page is added to the document?

I’ve done this before, but now I can’t get it to work (Windows 11 Pro; InDesign: 21.5.1). The font is Aviano Flare. I want to always substitute a specific “A” glyph. None of the Open Type Stylistic Sets work. How do I set up a new one? Also, do I need a style for both upper- and lowercase “As”? What am I forgetting or doing wrong? Many thanks for your help! 

Okay, I don't know if anyone else has this problem; however, I keep having it, and it's really annoying and frustrating because for some reason the Contextual Task Bar in Illustrator or InDesign keeps acting up by only moving in one place up and down not all over the screen like it should be and I've tried to save all my stuff, exit out, and reopen as well as turning it off in the Window section of both applications and nothing and I have no idea how to fix this so if anyone knows a permant solution to this please tell me cause I'm lost and I would really appericate it so much! I have looked at the issues but the posts are 11 years old . I have tried to sort and it’s still happening. ANY ideas welcome.It’s something within resolution, double screen I THINK but i have tried multiple options. Any ideas?

This feature was installed without my knowing it. It slows down my workflow because it takes forever to do a conversion and the cancel button doesn't work. I've accidentally activated it about four times today. I want to turn it off/uninstall it, but the Adobe page describing the feature doesn't tell me how. It's a beta, so I should be able to opt out. Anyone know how?

Hoping that someone can   help me. I have  several documents that all have numbered paaragraphs. I'm creatign an index so would like the index reference to not only show the page but also the paragraph. I see there is an option for  custom cross refeernce - but I don't know how to  add the  paragraph number. And in this index I only want to reference the first occurrence of  the item.  Any scripts would be most useful and appreciated.- so for example the bolded word Cape North needs to be indexed - it is on page2-11 and paragraph number 11, South Point - page 2-11, para #8.  and so on. In fact , all the bolded words need to be indexed. It seems like a script  should be possible for this.

Please help!!!I have wasted alot of time and paper today trying to figure out why this is happening!When I go to print a booklet, some of the inside pages are printed upside down.I have gone through every single setting in both Indesign and my printer settings and cannot workout wots going on!When I go to print the booklet, the preview panel shows everything correct, but wot prints out is all over the place.Please someone help before I pull my hair out! lol x

My computer is quite old and I am unable to install the current version.My computer has:Windows 10 Home, 64-bit Intel Celeron N4000 processor @ 1.10 GHz 4 GB of RAMWhen I open Creative Cloud, InDesign appears as version 21.5.1, but it says that the application is not compatible with my computer.I have already enabled the option to show older applications in Creative Cloud, but when I click the three dots next to InDesign, I only see “Manage add-ons”. The “Other versions” option does not appear.I also checked Adobe’s page listing available application versions, but InDesign does not appear there.I found information indicating that older versions, such as InDesign CC 2019 (14.x), had lower system requirements and could work with Windows 10 64-bit and 4 GB of RAM. However, I have not been able to find a safe and official way to download it.Is there any official way to install an older version of InDesign that would be compatible with my computer? I'm experiencing a reproducible issue with Adobe InDesign 21.4.1 on Windows 11.Environment:- Windows 11- Adobe InDesign 21.4.1- Single monitorIssue:If InDesign is closed while the Pages panel is the active panel, opening any .indd file by double-clicking it in Windows Explorer causes InDesign to freeze during startup.The loading cursor continues indefinitely and the document never opens.However, if I launch InDesign first and then use File > Open, the same document opens normally.What I tested:- The issue also occurs with a brand new test.indd file.- It is not related to a specific document.- Resetting InDesign preferences temporarily fixes the issue.- Other panels (Layers, Links, Transform, etc.) can be moved or docked without causing the problem.- If I close InDesign with the Properties panel active instead of the Pages panel, double-click opening works normally.- Simply displaying the Pages panel before closing InDesign causes the issue to return, even without saving the workspac

Hi there   I had to replace my old laptop, which had InDesign 19.5 on it as that's the version my client is using.But I'm struggling to download that version  on my new laptop - a Dell Latitude 7420, running Windows 11 Pro, with 16 GB RAM. On the Adobe desktop app, the oldest INDD version I can access is 20.0. Any idea how I can download 19.5?Thanks!

My InDesign has been acting up for the past six months or so when I try pasting in a separate file into the InDesign document. Whenever I paste in a file, whether it's a pdf or a picture, InDesign freezes up and I have to force quit out and restart. Sometimes that helps the issue for awhile and other times it just keeps freezing up over and over again. 

For the past month or two, any time I try to Place a file or update a Placed file, InDesign usually freezes. The cursor turns into the spinning circle. I can close and save the files after this, but cannot close the InDesign app. I try various ways to place the files. File > Place or Ctrl D or copy and paste the placed file from another InDesign file. The files I use are typically on my Google Drive and I’ve installed the Drive app on my machine.This is REALLY getting annoying. Adobe used to be so good with bugs. Any ideas? I’ve read a few posts that say they thought version 21.3 fixed this issue but I’ve still got it.I’ve reset preferences, cleared old versions of InDesign, reinstalled InDesign. InDesign 21.3Core i9 processorWindows 11 home64 GB RAM500+ GB hard drive space Thanks in advance for any tips.

I’m using data merge for a set of labels. The labels have different colours. I use a path ‘@image from Excel for solid block colours (JPGs) to achieve the different colours in the data merge. I’ve been trying to apply the colours to a white shape (mono TIF) in Indesign with the overlay effect but can’t get it to just colour the white shape  and then not effect the photo in the background. I’ve tried isolation and knockout options but can’t achieve the effect I want. I originally tried setting an object style but couldn't get it to work that way. Is what I’m trying even possible?

I am attempting to depict flashing railway signal lights on paper and in a PDF. I’m using a multi-pointed star that I created in Illustrator, copy-pasted into InDesign and it looks great on screen. But when I export to PDF and then print that PDF on paper, anything on a black background just doesn’t show up.This is how it looks in InDesign at 200% magnification. Same 200% from Acrobat and appears the same on paper:If I zoom in to 800% on the PDF it’s marginally better but I need it to look correct at 100%, not 800%+.I’ve widened the spikes so they’re more rounded to get more area but it’s absolutely not the effect I want.Any suggestions? This has been vexing me for weeks now.

hi there all, I am struggling with a basic problem. a few years ago i suffered a massive stroke, now I am back to work I have noticed most of my Adobe CS skills are missing. I am trying to create a 50 page template for an InDesign brochure/report. Each page needs to have a fade from the top to the bottom of \\\\\\\\\#00E5FF to #ff2dAA at the bottom. I know this is quite easy, can anyone help me out please? I could not even get Firefly to understand what I need. Honestly, I used to do all the brochure design etc for my business as well as for our clients. PC - Win11 - 32GBRAM, 8Gb GPU, Intel i9 12th genI’m working on a 32-page document with text and images.I clicked or typed something (I don’t know what) and now the page previews do not appear in Pages panel and the cursor is a blue spinning ring, indicating the system is processing something. It works, when I click on things but I need the arrow back.This happens whether Preflight is on or off.Any ideas, anyone?Johnny
