Hello everyoneIn a spread, I want to use the center line as a boundary to distinguish between the following two cases:A. If the object’s left edge (sb[1]) is on the left side, regardless of sb[3], the object is considered to be on the left page.B. If the object’s left edge (sb[1]) is on the right side, regardless of sb[3], the object is considered to be on the right page.My ultimate goal is to decide whether they should move to the left or to the right.Thank you.var d = app.activeDocument;var s = d.selection[0]; p = s.parentPage;var sb = s.geometricBounds;var pb = p.bounds;lm = p.marginPreferences.left;rm = p.marginPreferences.right;
I would like to formally follow up on case ADB-44827608-R1Y7 opened earlier today.As I already explained, the problem is not limited to AI-generated PNG files. The “missing link” error (gray placeholder with green stripes) also appears in designs I created four years ago that have never used any artificial intelligence images. I am attaching the two screenshots again to make this perfectly clear:Screenshot taken in InDesign 2026 of the file “ReportajeSIP Abril 2026.indd” → shows the gray/green placeholder on the placed image (page 2). The exact same section opened in Illustrator 2026 → the design appears perfect, with no link error whatsoever. I have already performed all the recommended troubleshooting steps:Complete Creative Cloud repair Preferences reset (Cmd + Option + Shift while launching) Clean reinstallation of the program Manually re-placing the images I even installed and fully tested the latest InDesign 2026 Beta, but the problem persists exactly the same.The error only
I'm designing a report that has a fair number of footnotes. Occasionally there is boxed text that needs to be designed so it appears in a shaded panel style. I've tried various ways of creating this, either as a seperate text frame with a threaded text link, or as a seperate formated text frame that I then anchor into the main flow of body text. But when this boxed content also includes some footnotes, the problem then arises that the inserted footnotes appear at the bottom of the boxed text frame, whereas I want all footnotes to appear together across the span of the page at the botom of the full page (i.e. footnotes from the main text and the boxed text to appeart at the bottom of page together). I have tried manullay adding the footnotes from the boxed text - but then any subsequent footnotes added to the mian text is wrongly numbered (it just carries on from the previous main text numbeing). If I try and manulaly override the numbers, it disappears at the bottom of t

Hi, I am struggling to set up my table and cell styles. I am trying to remove the vertical borders and preserve the top and bottom borders. I have tried every combination of cell styles, table styles, and table border setup imaginable and I can’t get the right result. I would appreciate any help. Thanks
My team produces a monthly publication using branded colors (The brand colors were chosen by others and cannot be changed or updated). The colors are defined in several profiles: Pantone Coated, Pantone Uncoated, CMYK, and RGB. When I took this job I created a indt template file that has all the CMYK colors added as swatches and have all objects and text colors set using Object and Paragraph styles from those CMYK based swatches. We recently changed the paper that our printer uses for the publication but the CMYK colors are not reproduced accurately on this paper. Is there a way to export two versions, one for each CMYK and Pantone Spot color without having to have two versions with the Styles changed? Is there a way to automate this process?
When using inDesign my artboard goes blank (gray) when disconnecting from my Apple display and often when I open my disconnected laptop to resume work in an open InDesign document. This has been happening for years on a different combination of displays and laptops so it is an Adobe issue, not a me issue. It seems lots of users have been frustrated by the same defect and it boggles my mind that Adobe has failed to fix this bug. Yes, I know I can switch to CPU Preview.. it reminds me of that old Rodney Dangerfield joke “I went to the Doctor and said - Doc, it hurts when I do this. The doctor says - don’t do that.”
I have not been able to save files from my computer to the Adobe account. Can someone help me trouble shoot please
Hi everyone,The Problem: In InDesign, I can see the icons for files shared with me, but clicking them does nothing. Occasionally, the loading cursor appears briefly, but the file never opens. Local files work perfectly.In Illustrator, I have the same issue, but it triggers an error banner: "You don't have access to this file," even though I am logged in with the exact email address used for the sharing invitation.What I've tried: Updated both apps to the latest version. Ensured no one else is currently working in the files. Verified my Adobe ID matches the invited email. Has anyone encountered this sync/permission glitch? Any advice on how to fix it?
Hi, when I prepare an InDesign file using "Share for Review" feature, the images are exported out rather low resolution / blurry as seen here:https://assets.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:sc:US:913908ef-996f-4b5f-b99d-f730a011bda9?view=publishedThese images are quite hi-res in the original document and look fine in InDesign, but they are overly compressed when viewed in the review pane. The original source images are in PNG format.
I need an old copy of Indesign 2023 v18.Adobe have told me that they no longer support legacy installers and only offer N1 & N2 versions, which are available from CC.I have newer versions but need an old copy also for one of my publishers, who still use Indd 2023.Does anyone have a link where I can download and install Indesign 2023?Thank you
Why is it 2026 and there is still no RTF export (all text boxes) for Indesign without third party plugins or scripts? And don’t even think about mentioning indd > PDF > Word to RTF I feel like I’m taking krazy pills here.
Hello all, this started happening happening on the latest update of InDesign. When I export High Quality or Press Quality PDFs from InDesign, my output PDF shows images as pixelated and with jagged edges. Jpgs come out blurry too. This was not happening before. Here is an example: Here are my settings for Exporting PDF. If my memory serves me right, this was an issue on 2018 CC version. I think it's happening again. Any ideas or fixes? Thanks!!
I’m learning how to merge data and images into an InDesign file. I’m new to this process. I have a bunch of charts (PDFs) that I’m importing via the merge function. They are merging, but they are all over the place in terms of size (98%, 107%, 160%). How can I “force” them to pop in at 100%? And secondly, is there a way to make sure they always merge in at the same x/y coordinate? Thanks!
Linked image within illustrator file not appearing when placed in indesign.I have a map created in Illustrator with a background (flattened) tiff which displays fine in Illustrator. Once placed into InDD, the tiff won't appear (layer is ON and printing) and doesn't get included in exports (thus eliminating a rendering issue of any kind). This has happened on 2 separate files but is fine in others with the same set-up. On occasion the tiff will reappear…This is fundamental to my job.Illustrator 30.2.1InDesign 21.3OS 15.7.4 (24G517)
Ever since I updated to Indesign 2026, anytime I place an illustrator file, there is a fairly high chance that one or more of the layers refuses to display or the file will be in a rolled back state. Its not just a visual glitch, when I export to PDF, the placed file will still not show what its supposed to. It seems to happen more frequently when the illustrator file is larger, but I’ve also had it happen on tiny files. The ONLY fix I’ve found so far is to save the illustrator file as a PDF and import that.
We are facing an issue with accessibility tagging in InDesign while exporting to a tagged PDF.The table is designed across a two-page spread//split (full-width layout). However, after exporting the file as a tagged PDF, the table structure is recognized only on the first page. The content on the second page is not identified as part of the same table in the PDF tags.Observation: First page table is tagged correctly Second page table content is not included in the table structure Reading order and tagging break across pages Expected behavior:The table should be recognized as a single structure across both pages in the tagged PDF. Questions:Is this a known limitation in InDesign? Is there any workaround to maintain a continuous table structure across pages in tagged PDF? Are there any recommended best practices for handling full-spread tables for accessibility?Any guidance or confirmation from Adobe team would be helpful.Thanks in advance.
When having a file open in InDesign 2024 on my Macbook Pro (Sonoma 14.2.1 OS), close the lid, plug into my LG UltraFine external monitor and wake the computer up, the InDesign window is still open and all the tool bars are visible and working, but the area where the artwork is becomes black/blank and I can't see the work. I can see the bounding boxes if I select all, but no image or text. The window is entirely blank. The same thing happens if I'm working on my LG monitor, unplug the display and then open the Macbook to work. I always have my Macbook closed when plugged into the LG display and use both an external keyboard and trackpad. The solution is to always save, quit InDesign and reopen. If I go through that it works again. Is it a bug with Apple? Is it a bug with Adobe? My LG firmware, OS and Adobe InDesign are all updated to the latest versions.
I've been reading Adobe InDesign Classroom in a Book 2026, and I noticed that the book uses "work area" and "workspace" as two distinct terms — seemingly intentionally.The book defines them as follows:Work area: "The InDesign work area encompasses everything you see when you first open or create a document." — described as distinct from the Home screen. Workspace: "The configuration of the panels in the work area is referred to as the 'workspace'." — i.e., a named preset of panel arrangements, selectable from Window > Workspace (such as Essentials or Typography).This distinction makes a lot of sense to me. The Home screen and the work area seem to be treated as two separate, opposing states of the application — and "workspace" is reserved specifically for panel layout presets.However, Adobe's online manual defines workspace much more broadly:"To create and manage documents in Adobe Creative Cloud applications, you can use various elements, such as panels, bars, and windows. Any arra

At a juncture now where it’s necessary to create a matte spot varnish file for text only in an illustrated edition. The text is comprised of body text and titles in K only, and hundreds of sidenote annotations in a custom pms spot (a Pantone grey mix), which, due to the unforeseen effects of the printer’s UV LED offset process, are rendering now as an undesirably glossy text on our matte, natural finish Arctic Volume White stock, deliberately chosen for its non-glare properties. We’re preserving, however, the richly saturated and glossy look on the imagery that UV LED printing introduced (so a flood coat won’t do), but the text, in a dense and lengthy scholarly edition, can’t be encumbered with glare. The printer uses only Toyo ink and after many conversations with them and Toyo in the EU (where the printer is) the kabosh has definitively been put on Toyo Ink resurrecting their matte formula, eliminated 8 years ago. This would’ve allowed printing all text as a matte spot ink, avoiding
Suppose I’ve selected three objects. In the end, I want those three objects to remain selected and be moved to the top of the stack relative to all other objects.I tried the code below, but it seems to only support a single object.Of course, only one can be at the very top.I just need the selected objects to be on top of the others. var d = app.activeDocument; var item = d.selection[0]; var items = d.selection; var sel = items;//do something d.selection = sel; for (j = 0; i < sel .length; j++) { //sel[j].bringToFront();sel[j].bringForward(); }

Hello everyone! I’m trying to create a small plugin to manage my product listings.It’s a user interface that contains the information needed to automatically fill out my document.The plugin uses named objects such as “Model Name” and automatically fills in the fields with data from a CSV file. Previously, I had written a windowed version to test and debug it. But I needed a palette/dialog box to scroll through the entire document while I enter the information (which doesn’t work with a windowed version because the document remains static). And I wanted an OK/Apply button to confirm changes and continue working without the page closing, while still being able to navigate the document at the same time. For now, the problem is at the end of the script with dlg.show();The dialog box closes instantly when I click on it. Here is the code. Can you help me?:) // ======================================================// PRODUCT SHEET// ======================================================if (
Is it necessary to display a warning for missing fonts when importing from Word?Sometimes I don’t need it.I’ve already unchecked the “Check fonts” option under “Advanced Text” in “File Handling” in the Preferences.It doesn’t seem to be working.
