InDesign

I'm trying to create a booklet from InDesign, but when I try to select "Save as PDF" from print booklet I get an error that says this is not supported. I'm on a relatively new mac, with the newest version of InDesign CC.I tried a workaround and saved as a Postscript file, with the idea of opening it in Preview or Acrobat and saving as a PDF from there. When I went to save the Postscript file, the Setup dialog box would not allow me to specify anything:However, the print booklet preview looked okay, so I went ahead and saved it. It should be a booklet with the spreads trimmed out of an 11x17 page, but when I open it in both Preview and Acrobat, it shrinks to fit an 8.5x11 page. Because I can't specify the size when saving (see screenshot above), I don't know how to change this. The actual size of the InDesign document is the correct size — one spread fits on an 11x17 with crop marks.Basically, my questions boil down to this:- How can I save my document as a file with imposed spreads?- W

Question as subject, I try to adjust the image frame in table graphic cell, but the cell will follow the frame size and auto adjusted the cell itself. Is there any way the cell not to follow the image frame adjustment, i try fixed row and colume size but the cell size still being adjusted following the image frame.

Hello, everyone.I'd just like to ask if it's recommended to copy directly from Illustrator to InDesign.I am working on some vector shapes that I need to use for my book layout.Would it be recommended to directly copy-paste or do I have to save it as .PNG?Thanks a lot.

Every time I use any Adobe software I have to deal with the insanely annoying boxes that try to teach me how to use basic features that I've been using for years. I'm not an idiot and don't need Abobe to explain how to use these things every single time  I open the program. How can I turn these off for all Adobe programs? It makes for a poor user experience. 

Hi all,I'm subscribed to Ind3esign 2024. The program is not defaulted to Adobe World-Ready Paragraph Composer, as I've read is the case with other users, and when I select it and change the keyboard to Arabic, it does not work, showing the characters as rectangles. Most of my documents will require both Arabic and English. Has anyone faced this issue before? Are there any additional steps I need to take first after selection in order for it to work? Thank you.

Within the last few weeks whenever InDesign has force quit itself, my custom workspace resets (I lose default swatches I set, lose my preset font, hyphenate turns back on, lose my balance ragged lines, overprint is checked on) & end up with InDesign's defaults. Even if i click "Reset Workspace" it just makes sure I have all of my tools in the same order. I'm super annoyed, have tried restarting & reinstalling with no luck but to manually go through all of them again. Anybody else having this issue?

How can I unlink many incopy links in indesign?

The aim is to create an accessible PDF in which the screen reader reads out all defined content. Artifacts, hyperlinks with alt text and the creation of articles were taken into account. Unfortunately, these invisible / incorrect links cannot be found in InDesign or in the container structure of the PDF file in Acrobat. Is there a similar case? Many thanks in advance

I am having an issue where I am trying to turn all of my quoatation marks from a typewriter quote (where the quotes look like two lines and arent different for either side of the quotation) to the curcly quotes marks that are two different glyphs. Trying to do find replace glyph doesnt work as the quote marks are only technically one glyph and not two, and find replace text doesnt work to specify the way I want it to look . How would I do this without manually going through my entire document, selecting each one and replace it with the correct glyph? 

When I try to insert 10 pages in a 100 page document, it messes up. I'm writing a Workbook. The 100 pages are threaded (text frame this is) and I want to insert 10 pages after page 60. No matter what I do the threading gets messed up as well as the rest of my document.  Any advice?

Hello, I am very new to all this so forgive white might be an Adobe noob question. I am pursuing an attempt at creating a graphic novel. The story is done and the images themselves are not an issue. What I struggle with is creating a layout format I can use. Some have suggested InDesign. Others have suggested Illustrator. Which do you feel would be the best and why? Also, any templates or tutorials on going down this road would be greatly appreciated.

I created a book using InDesign. The book was published in both print and eBook versions successfully on Amazon. I now want to publish it on IngramSpark. However, when I try to upload the content file and cover-spine-back cover file in IngramSpark I receive the following error messages. [Content File Error]"LOW RESOLUTION IMAGES IN FILE: We recommend color and black and white images be 300 ppi. For line art, we recommend 600 ppi bitmap images. For best results, please correct the issue(s) listed. You may refer to the File Creation Guide for further instructions on creating a compliant PDF." The book's content, which is all in black and white, features an illustration (created by an artist I hired) in the beginning of each chapter. Per Link info in each chapter file, the illustrations' resolutions are inconsistent. Some are at 300 ppi and some lower.(Q1) Assuming this is the problem, is there a way to change/increase the resolutions on my own without having to purchase additio

I am working on a book file with the chapter names occuring both at the beginning of each chapter, and on top of every odd page.Some of the chapter names are "too long" (cannot be changed, as this is an old book) and are to be abbreviated at the top of the page. Is there a way to do this automatically (where I at one single place type in the abbreviation - without changing templates, etc)?As the chapter name at the top of the page is in its own paragraph style I was thinking that this maybe could be done using GREP - but that is just an idea, I'm not very profficient at GREP.

I'm not sure how this happened, because I have my update settings configured so that when I update InDesign, the older versions get deleted, but somehow I had both InDesign 2023 and 2024 installed at the same time. When I would double-click a file to open it, it defaulted to the 2023 version. I uninstalled 2023 hoping that that would make the 2024 version the new default app for all InDesign files, but now, when I double-click to open, I get a Windows error message: "This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default App Settings Page." The problem is, when I try to do this, Windows isn't giving me the option to associate InDesign files (of any sort!) with the 2024 app. Do I need to reinstall the 2024 version? Or is this an operating system issue?

I designed a book in Adobe InDesign 2023 and exported it as an EPUB (Fixed Layout). When I open the EPUB file in Adobe Digital Edition 4.5, the eBook looks good with only minimal differences that do not affect the design. It looks ready for any eBook publishing platform.However, the client wants to check it on Kindle, as they will be publishing it there. When I open the same EPUB file in Kindle Previewer 3, I see many design errors. PNG and PSD images, which I included in InDesign, have white backgrounds. This causes them to overlap and hide the text. JPEG/JPG files look good. Is there any solution to this?See below images: left side view is Kindle.

Hello! I'm trying to create a compound shape in InDesign to join two elements, but I need to be able to edit them again and recover the original shapes. They are comic balloons that I need to reshape and change over time as a project advances. For example: in Illustrator it's possible to select 2 shapes and make a compound shape that looks like a single object. The advantage of this is that if I double-click on the tail of the balloon, I can still access it as an individual object which is very convenient for my projects. See image 1 below:That's exactly what I'm trying to do in InDesign. I'd like to use the same approach but I don't manage! I can join the circle and the tail so they become a single speech bubble. But if I join them, I can not recover the original shapes. And the compound shape that I can make in inDesign,  looks like the image below:I can't find options to make the speech bubble line look continuous like in Illustrator.  Is it possible to edit thes

Hi everyone I'm creating a doc with multiple animations. I have a button that triggers several animations in sequence (about 20) and it works perfectly. I also have a Pause-Button that pauses all of them. The problem that i have is that the pause button can only pause animations inside the sequence that have already been triggered. The rest still plays, when the the timer reaches their mark. Vice versa the button to unpause them, starts every remaining animation in the queue at once. Is this issue even solvable? Thanks allot for every input. Cheers!

Indesign 19.5 can not export to epub 2 is not working.I will export, but it ads epub 3 elements also. Epub 3 elements are not allowed in epub 2.

For some reason, my text box (which contained a large amount of text) was converted to a graphic box. How do I convert it back to a text box so I can add/edit text? I am using the latest version of InDesign on a Mac. 

Let me start by saying that I have done this literally hundreds of times so not sure what the problem is. I have watched and looked at websites with no luck, shows exactly the same thing that I have always done.  The top field is labeled @11660997 and @3038967 and the path is /Links/[filename].psd or .ai.  The links folder is found within the same folder that my csv file is in.  Will not find ANY of the images. I do this catalog every other month and I have been doing them since 2021 with no issues with the last one from May.  Any ideas or help would be appreciated.  Not in a super rush for an answer but within the week would be great.   Thanks, Cesar     <Title renamed by moderator>
