 Hi everyone,I'm having a strange issue with the Fraunces variable font in InDesign 2025 and wondering if anyone else has encountered this.The static instances of the font (Thin, Light, Regular, etc.) display correctly. But as soon as I try to use the variable sliders to adjust any axis, the font suddenly switches to a completely different sans serif font. After that, it becomes uneditable, and the ⌘+Z (Undo) command stops working entirely within InDesign until I restart the app.I’ve tried reinstalling the font and restarting InDesign (and also reinstalling InDesign), but the issue persists.Same with InDesign 2024.Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a workaround or known fix?Thanks in advance for any help!

Since the last Adobe InDesign update, my zoom shortcut (cmd + Shift + .) no longer works, while the zoom shortcut does. This is wasting my design time. Could someone please help me solve this problem? I'm still a beginner with the Adobe suite and I've tried to solve it myself by searching online and on forums, but I haven't been able to. Thank you for your help.

Hello, I wondered if anyone could help me. I am quite new to Indesign and only just started learning the basics. I am creating a 30 page booklet that needs to be exported in both a print and digital format. Do I need to create 2 separate Indesign files for each format or can I work from just the one file and export the two different formats from that one file? Thanks

This seems to be a new problem, but I can’t seem to generate review links anymore. At first i thought it was one document in particular, but nothing I did could get it to work. It just says “Couldn’t create link. Try again later.”I’ve signed in and out, uninstalled and reinstalled, updated the program, saved it as a new document, I even exported the whole thing as JPEGS and placed over a hundred pages by hand. I had someone else try and they could not generate the link either. 

Hi there,WIN11 computer.InDesign 21.2 x64. Both are legit.I have several projects worked in InDesign. They are from the same client, they are using the same template, the same fonts and styles. Yesterday, I implemented some changes requested by my client in one of the projects. Today, I opened another project from the same client in order to make some changes. For my surprise, InDesign cannot see the fonts. Fonts that were OK yesterday, two days ago, three days ago. Each package contains the same font since all projects use the same template.So, I opened the project I was working yesterday. The fonts are fine. I restarted the computer. I opened the yesterday project. Everything is fine. I opened the project I am supposed to make corrections. Fonts are missing. I opened another project from the same client I worked three days ago. Hallo Community, seit einiger Zeit habe ich seit einiger Zeit Probleme mit Schriftarten in InDesign. Nach Adobe Programm-Updates werden in der Regel bei bestehenden und noch vor dem Update voll funktionsfähigen InDesign Dateien viele Schriften nicht mehr korrekt erkannt. Ich bin dann stets gezwungen, fehlende Schriften mit Kennung OTF erneut zu suchen und zu ersetzen. Das ist sehr störend und behindert mich in meiner täglichen Arbeit mit InDesign. Die bemängelten Schriften sind installiert - nur nach Updates werden viele Schriftarten (wie Segoe UI oder auch Calibri) mit der Kennung OTF angemeckert. Wird bei Updates die Schrift-Datenbank von Adobe InDesign beschädigt oder wo liegt das Problem? Wie gesagt: Dieses Phänomen wiederholt sich seit einiger Zeit nach jedem Update. Bitte diesen Fehler durch eine Anpassung der Software lösen. Hi everyone,I hope you can help me. InDesign keeps crashing on my laptop. It has always worked fine, but for the past two months I’ve been having constant problems.This is what happens:I work with both existing and new documents. As soon as I try to save them, I either get error code (2) or a message saying that InDesign cannot complete the request. After that, the program stops responding (I have to close it via Task Manager) or it crashes completely.I work on a Windows laptop and save files via OneDrive (this is required for work). I have already tried the following: Saving to a different location so the file path is not too long Using short file names Setting the recovery files to a different location Reinstalling the program Creating new files to check whether the issue is related to the original design Using only fonts that come with InDesign and no custom installed fonts Reinstalling my own fonts Creating a recovery file Saving as IDML and then editing/saving that

As per above. Cant easily redistribute link without causing confusion. Can i recover it to my dashboard?

I’m trying to relink files in a document without updating them so I can review them 1 by 1.I have successfully used  .reinitLink() on a mac, but It won’t update the link status until I reopen the document. I have been able to test sucessfully with .relink, but I don’t want it to update automatically.Examplevar pathVar = "/FullPathToAsset/"app.activeDocument.links[0].reinitLink("file:"+pathVar)I tried using links[0].update() after reinitLinkBut nothing happens. Is there a way to check links after these updates are made?

I am in the LABORIOUS process of resurrecting a very old book document for reprint that used now-outdated fonts. What a nightmare, EVEN when Adobe has available modern fonts—and even ones of the same name! Like Adobe Garamond (c. 1990s) v. Adobe Garamond Pro today. SOOO much manual replacement required——global search and replace is not seeming to work in some cases, perhaps due to the fact the original doc was QuarkXPress and is being opened in InDesign (rather poorly, by the way).I’m now looking for replacements for Carta (symbols), Frutiger (Adobe, via foundry Linotype), and Optima (source unclear).???

Dieses transparente PNG mit grau/schwarzem Inhalt möchte ich nun vor einer Hintergrundfarbe ebenfalls transparent platzieren.Der Hintergnd soll alsodurch das PNG zu 100% “durchscheinen” - bzw. das PNG soll den Hintergrund überdrucken.Habe unter Rahmen - Effekte - Transparenz nichts gefunden…Jemand ne Idee ?Danke,Gruß Ralf

I am having issues with InDesign 2025 constantly crashing. I even installed older versions in an effort to solve the problem. When I open the application, it freezes, and I have to force quit to close it. It is completely unusable. I have a new desktop computer running Windows 11, enough RAM and a high-speed internet connection. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Furthermore, I cannot download or open my creative cloud files. It simply says: "Download failed". Any ideas?

Is it possible to script the saving of all open InDesign documents, including those that require 'Converting' from one InDesign version to another, directly over their former versions.I often need to do this with large numbers of documents, and it seems that going from one document to the next when I have 20 open documents, clicking save, being offered the ability to save the document directly over itself because InDesign helpfully opens the save point of the source doc, clicking SAVE then clicking OK, then closing the document, and moving on to the next, one, well this looks like a clear case for automation.Given that I have my own version control and excellent backups, I don’t have to worry about overseeing every step in an operation like this (that’s to say, given that it’s a reliable script).

Share for review hasn’t been working for several days now. I’ve signed out and still doesn’t work after logging back in. I’ve also restarted my computer. I opened files that i was working on in December 2025 - tweaked something - and could not save. FILE IS DAMAGED!  no matter what I do - anything I touch cannot be saved as an indesign file. 

Hi, I’ve installed Adobe InDesign for the first time on Windows 11, but it’s not launching. The application gets stuck on “Starting up service registry” during startup and does not open, even after waiting for more than 5 minutes.I have already tried reinstalling InDesign, signing out and signing back into Creative Cloud, and restarting my system, but none of these steps worked.This is a fresh installation and I’m facing this issue from the first launch itself. Please let me know how to resolve this problem.  

For quite some time now my InDesign has been taking a long time to open. I think it started doing this a couple updates ago. I have been dealing with it, but now it has become annoying.When I open InDesign, it takes over 30 seconds to open.In the past it opened in less than 10 seconds.What has changed is causing this issue.I am running Windows 11 Pro.I have an I9 processor with 24 cores.With 64 GB of memory.The hard drive is 2 TB and I am using about ¼ of that, so there is plenty of space.What can I do to get this to open quickly, like it used to? Rick

Does anyone know of how you would export an interactive PDF as CMYK? Using Indesign 2022. It always wants to change the colour profile to RGB when I export?

When I try to place multiple images at once using the Gritify tool, my InDesign seems to break. It stops letting me undo, I can’t make any new files, it's constantly loading and it wont let me close the program anymore. Any way to stop or circumvent this?

I see this problem is 10 years old. I tried deleting preferences CTL+SHIFT+ALT.There is a suggestion that “click the word Touch” - click with what my mouse? Oh you have to go through the Touch Gesture tutorial before you can get access to this menu!Ok i’m going to leave this question here

I’m resurrecting an old QuarkXPress v. 3.31 document using InDesign 20.5.2 (2015 MacBook Pro Retina 15” under Monterey).The original QXP had master pages (INDD calls them Parent pages I see).There are various oddities in the import (e.g., all items on the document pages are shifted 2.75” to the right! weird.). Another issue is fonts. I have replaced several missing fonts using modern Adobe equivalents. This change affects, e.g., headers on the Parent pages. When I go to update the document pages assigned to those Parents, InDesign is inserting an empty text frame onto the doc page and “pushing” the existing text frame to the next page in the document.I assume this is due to my misunderstanding of text flow on Parent pages. The Parents for the body of the doc indeed have a blank text frame laid out within the specified margins. (I see the option, on Parent pages’ text frames to “Click to make this story the parent’s primary text flow.” Which means very little to me.)Should I just elimin
