I am trying to edit my book, and every time I click in the text box, the paragraph or whole page disappears. The content is still there. It just isn't viewable. If I zoom in or out, it reappears. Similarly, when I scroll through the pages, the text display gets jagged within lines or offset in the middle of the paragraph. Again, if I zoom in or out, the display corrects itself. I am having to zoom in/out for every correction. This is very irritating and is severely hampering productivity. The following list of issues do not apply in my case:I do not have overset text.I do not have formatting conflicts caused by "Break text" or "Keep" options. The text does not wrap any objects.I am using Cambria font, which I have used for my last four books and never had a problem with. There are no hidden characters on master pages.I have broken the book into chapters, with each chapter being a separate document. The chapters are less than twenty pages each, so I am not dealing with documents of
Hi everyone,I am using Adobe InDesign to create design materials such as brochures, ebooks, and PDF files for marketing. I would like to understand how other users use InDesign files with CRM platforms. My usual process is to design in InDesign and export the files as PDFs. These PDFs are then uploaded into a CRM system and used in landing pages or email campaigns. This helps maintain good design quality while still using marketing automation.I would appreciate any advice from the community. For example, are there recommended PDF export settings for online use? How do you organize InDesign files for easy updates? Any workflow tips for designers and marketers working together would be helpful.Thank you for your time.
Hi:My work group has had this problem periodically for over 15 years, I still do not have a good solution to it. Our designers create an Indesign layout, and assign the various stories as an Incopy assignment. The editors edit the .icml files to fit the pages. When the designers open up the Indesign layout and update the content of the icml files, they do not wrap/hyphenate properly the way the editors have them in Incopy. The text can have different line breaks in the paragraph, causing the icml files to be either short or long as to where they should end on the page. This is not an update problem of the Incopy assignment or individual icml files. I have noticed one thing: sometimes when there is an illustration with an irregular text wrap around it, the text wrap is different in Indesign than it is in Incopy. But that is not always the issue, sometimes it happens when there is a regular horizontal or square wrap, and sometimes where there is no text wrap at all.&n
I can not open my InDesign files all of a sudden. When I go to open them, InDesign completely shuts down. I've tried all of the chatbot's suggestions to no avail. Any ideas?

Indesign Table of Content is not showing Section Text I put on Parent page to show on every page. Since it's not showing up on Table of Content, I have to place the Section Text on every sheet which is doubling my work.Is there a way to fix this issue?
I am considering writing a non fiction book. It's to be about cultural history and in A5. I would like to take a shortcut to the layout part and have been looking for good InDesign templates for non fiction/text book, but have had very little luck. I have tried Adobe Stock and a couple of other sites but so far not really found anything. Does anybody have some recommendations?
Welche Einstellungen muss ich beim Farbmanagement vornehmen, wenn ich ein InDesign-Dokument auf einem Epson XP 7100 auf Normalpapier bzw. auf Epson Premium Glossy farbgetreu ausdrucken will?
I’m having a critical issue with an InDesign Cloud Document that is completely stuck. What happens:- Opening the cloud document crashes InDesign immediately.- Downloading the file from the web stays at 0% indefinitely.- Duplicating the file works, but the duplicate also cannot be downloaded.- “Open in Desktop” always causes InDesign to crash. What I already tried (successfully and cleanly):- Fully reset CoreSync and Creative Cloud user cache.- Cleared all Adobe caches and InDesign preferences.- Verified Adobe Desktop Service (ADS) is installed and running correctly.- InDesign opens normally when offline, without crashing.- System was restored back to its original state afterward (no broken services).Result:- The issue persists across browser download, duplicate, and desktop open.- This strongly indicates a server-side cloud document lock or corrupted cloud state.I am now blocked as an end user. What I need:- A server-side reset of the cloud lock for this documentOR- A server-side export o

Hi All, I'm have a frustrating issue that has been vexing me for some time. It's seemingly cropping up at random. I can't predict when it's going to happen, but when it does there seems to be nothing I can do to solve it. I'm hoping someone has encountered this an know a way to solve this. Sometimes when I'm making epubs the paragraph spacing will just be ignored in the exported ePub file. I've just created two ebooks back-to-back. One where the spacing is there and working and one where the spacing isn't. The spacing between the paragraphs of the body copy is working in both but just not the headings or images. Spacing working in one and not in the other.jpg I used the same process for both. My process is:From the final print file, I go through and convert all complex fonts (i.e. the title page fonts) to graphics (create outlines) to avoid the fonts getting rejected. I also check any images are a compatible file type and are added in the text fl
Hi, I've replaced the chapter headings with pdfs of the font in order to retain the font for the ebook but is there a way I can create a toc if there is no type? I tried making the chapter headings invisible but when it converts to epub it shows again. Thanks.

Hi everyone,I’m working in Adobe InDesign on a print café drink menu with many items, categories, and prices. The main challenge is keeping the layout consistent when the menu changes frequently, such as new drinks, seasonal items, or price updates.Right now, even small edits can cause text reflow issues, misaligned prices, or spacing inconsistencies across columns and sections. From an InDesign workflow perspective:What’s the best way to structure long menus so updates don’t break the layout? Are paragraph styles, nested styles, or anchored objects the right approach for this kind of document?I’m looking for a stable, production-friendly method suitable for real-world café menus. Thanks in advance.
Hi!I have just finished designing a book with pages in spreads. However i have encountered a problem. Many objects extend over the whole spread which would be fine for a normal print, but i need to perform a very specific binding and therefore shuffle the pages so they can join correctly again after the book is bound. If i want to move a page in the spread, the objects that extend over left side of the spread to the right and vice versa, do not divide in half and stick to the half of the spread they are meant to be on. Is there any way to quickly split all of the extending objects in half along the spine and move the pages freely?
Hello I am Niven, I was hoping to get some help regarding a script which malfunctions in my situation. I use InDesign Mail Merge on a regular basis for my work with like 600 to 800+ Pages per Document which has multiple languages and emojis and the script I got from Peter Kahrel to Manage Multiple Missing Glyphs at one time is not working as it probably worked for other people on some YouTube Tutorials. As I run the script and select a replacement font (Noto Emoji Regular) for the Missing Glyphs the script runs at first but after 2 - 3 Minutes InDesign stops responding. No error message is shown. Manually replacing the missing glyphs with ‘Noto Color Emoji’ works correctly, which suggests the issue may be related to the script or my PC. Also I would like to add that the people using the script flawlessly were using it on a macOS and I am on a Windows PC.I use Adobe InDesign 2025 version with all updates installed. I came to know about the script from Adobe Community
I have some publications that are very nicely formatted in InDesign to produce great PDF ebooks. However, I'd like to also use the same .indd files to produce some very basic HTML versions, with no fancy fonts or formatting: something suitable for viewing on a cellphone, for example: responsive and with the graphics thumbnailed. After playing around with this just a bit, by using the Export > HTML5 and Export > HTML (legacy) I'm thinking:a) I probably need to export not as HTML5 but as "legacy"b) I probably need to create a CSS file that assigns the many paragraph styles in the InDesign document to some basic HTML formatting.c) I would like professional advice from someone who has tried this before so that I may learn from the mistakes of others rather than repeating them myself.Any advice?
Hi Abhishek, thanks for asking for a screenshot of all the problems we found only from December. The following one is related to my previous post: "If I open an INDD document, I find the palettes in the positions where I stored them in my Workspace. However, if I open a Book, more than half of the palettes are missing! Even when I try to reload the positions stored in my Workspace."In the screenshot, I put the two situations: The full palette stored in my workspace, and one of the random situations when some (almost all) of the palettes disappear. <Title renamed by MOD>
Hi, I recently had to upgrade my Indesign to v21. There seems to be a problem with workspaces. When I open or create a new document or maximise Indesign from a minimised state, randomly the palettes I have docked to the right of the screen do not open when I click the named tile/docked palette. They acknowledge my click but dont expand. My colleague upgraded a while ago and I remember him getting stressed about this exact same issue so I dont know if this is version specific or Windows 11 specific but it is a problem. The work around seems to be having mulitple saved workspaces and when this occurs, switch to another one. If you have experienced this, on Windows 11, please let know if you found a solution. Thanks. <Title renamed by MOD>

I need to install an older version of InDesign, maybe from 2023 or 2024. Isn’t that possible? My computer, Mac Pro 5.1 from 2012, is too old for the current version. I try to copy an folder with InDesign from a external drive, but that doesn’t work either. Besides, this system with renting the apps for a lot of money per month isn’t good. Much better before when you bought them on DVD, registered your name and got a product key. Why does everything need to be online? Some illness of present time.
Hello all, I'm trying to use GREP styles to accomplish a few things. I'd like to (1) style the Project Name, and (2) add a tab before Service ID and Start/End. Any idea of how to do that? I'm proid to say that I have figured out how to style the bolded characters. april_5679_0-1765901056090.png
Hi, Dear Friends!I used to know how to handle this, but my medication has zappppped my memory....:( I re-use texts across multiple ID docs. But as I work, i edit the text in a given ID doc and want the source story updated. I saw a while ago the best way to handle this is by having the source doc in an InCopy file. I then place it on a child doc. I check out id editing is required. If i add any important edits to the story, i can update the source by "checking in" to Incopy. The above can be repeated across many ID docs, and when I place the story again, it will reflect all the edits I have made until then. Is this the complete way to do this? Thank you, and have a good day!Susan Flamingo
