Photoshop Elements

I just upgraded to Elements 2025 (for Windows 11) around 10 days ago. One of the reasons for the upgrade was that it was reported that it would support HEIC files from i-Phones (since PSE 2023!). I followed the steps to install the codecs required for HEIC files to be recognized in PSE 2025. I re-installed the HEIF extension file and installed the HEVC Video Extensions ($0.99 from MS Store) without any success with PSE.  I spent an inordinate amount of time troubleshooting this process without success.  Then, I tried the same files on a friend's computer where he has both PSE 2023 and Photoshop installed and found he had the exact same issue with PSE 2023, BUT the HEIC files opened fine in Photoshop!  The Adobe Virtual Assistant confirmed "Photoshop Elements 2025 does not support HEIC files natively, while Photoshop does." Yesterday, the Photo Editor programme in Elements 2025 stopped working. I've only had Photoshop Elements  for a couple of weeks so it's more than a lttle frustrating that I can't use it!Any ideas?

I have recently upgraded to Elements 2025,  and had it install Camera Raw from the Help menu.  It's installed versio 17.0.  According to the recent table for my Nikon Z5ii raw files I need version 17.3   I have downloaded that separately and installed, but in Elements it's still showing as 17.0 and I cannot open the files.  Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Hello, When I query the serial number for my product in my account, I get a 24-digit number. However, the activation of Photoshop Elements V21.0 requires a 6-digit number. I purchased the product in November 2022. how do I get the required activation code? Thanks for the help

Ho installato  PSE2024 e PRE2024 che uso da aprile 2024. Devo procedere ad una installazione pulita windows 11 Pro. So che devo disattivare entrambi i prodotti dalla scheda aiuto di Editor e Premiere.  Nel mio account Adobe, trovo entrambe le licenze con l'indicazione del numero di serie. Non capisco perchè  non ho dispositivi attivati? Come si attiva un dispositivo? 

Hallo in die Community,ich habe ien größeres Problem mit Photoshop Elements 10. Das Programm möchte ich gerne auf meinem neuen Laptop mit WIN11 installieren, was auch prinzipiell funktioniert. Jedoch wird ein Neustart des Laptops nach der Installation gefordert, der nicht funktioniert. Der Laptop stürzt komplett ab und man kann auf nichts mehr zugreifen. Mit WIN7, WIN8, WIN8.1 sowie WIN10 habe ich nie Problem bei der Installation gehabt. Ist Photoshop Elements 10 mit WIN11 nicht kompatibel? Eine Fehlermeldung gibt es nicht. Haben den Laptop deswegen schon 2 mal an den Händler zurückgegeben. Eine Aussage zur Kompabilität bekomme ich nicht. Danke für eine Rückmeldung.Michael

I use PSE 2023 - just changed my camera to a canon EOS R50 and am unable to look at the photos in RAW.  Message tells me to "install the camera raw plug in from the Help menu".  Have tried everything without success.  RAW files open with no issues on Lightroom.  Looks like I will abandon Photoshop Elements as an editing tool altogether unless someone offers a solution.

I just restored a full backp of PSE23 and all photos from an external hard drive to a new Win 11 computer.  On the old Win 10 computer all photos were contained in the Windows 10 Pictures folder. But after the restoration in the new computer I found my Windows 11 Pictures folder was empty.  When initiating the restoration I found the lower portion of the Restore menu box direction for specifying the folder to restore to, to be a little confusing.  After checking past Community posts on this topic I eventually followed a suggestion to specify the path indicated in the Organizer help menu, which was C:\ProgramData\Adobe\ElementsOrganizer\Catalogs\My Catalog; and checked the box to restore the original folder structure. The restoration completed and the PSE23 software seems to  be operating  correctly.  However whereas my actual photos were previously contained in the Pictures folder they are now in C:\ProgramData\Adobe\ElementsOrganizer\Catalogs\My Cata

When I have several pictures open in Expert Mode, there are occassions when adjusting layer transparency in one picture also affects layers in another picture.  I don't know what I'm doing to cause this but I can't imagine it's by design.

Error message on start up says "Adobe_licutil quit unexpectedly" and a box shows up offering to allow me to send a report to Apple. From my own experience sending a report to Apple is a waste of time as nothing ever happens!!! The software was purchased directly from Adobe so it is a genuine product. Can I delete the programme "Adobe_LIcutil" and still have a working version? My reasoning is that if, as I suspect, it is a .EXE programme it will not work on a Apple machine anyway. My PC has plenty of RAM (64 GB) and 4 Tb HDD and is up to date with the latest OS. Any advice on this would be apprciated.  

In right top corner of thumbnail their is a symbol of a music note. If you click on it the dialogue box title is RelatedSound. I want to get rid of it. There is no sould associated with these photos. I cannot figure out how to delete it. Any ideas?

When I save a file to jpg format from Elements 2024, it defaults the save location to the folder where the previous saved file was saved, which is usually not the source of the image being save. I want the default save-as folder to be the location of its source RAW file.I see the save options including “Organize” / “Include in Elements Organizer,” which is highlighted in blue and I can check, and a second option “Save in Version Set with Original,” which is in black text and does not allow me to check.“Save ss a Copy” is another option but is also in black and cannot be selected.Is there any way to make a setting change to set the default save location to be the source folder? Thanks / Kozmo

I have Photoshop Elements 13, so I realize it's not current, but here goes. Starting a day or two ago, an image turns orange pink when I tried to click on it with a tool. I guessed that I had flattened it by mistake. It's text on a layer over a gif background. So I tried opening the background image, planning to create the old one again. Same results. So it's not a problem with one image, and it's not so general as to be a monitor issue. Looking at past posts online, I figured it might be Quick Mask. And it goes away if I click on the traffic sign for "cancel current operation" but comes back when I click on the image again. I tried pressing Q many times, whether with the color on the image or just with the mouse not clicking on the image. No difference. the pink will come back when I try to select text on the image again. I saw an icon for Quick Mask might be on a toolbar but don't see it. Any  clues? Thank you.

Hi, got PS Elements 2024, from a well known large German electronics retailer last year and it never worked for more than a couple of weeks at a time. I have had to do numerous re-installations - after a couple of weeks, adobe does not recognize my serial number or activation key anymore and there we go, can't finish the work I started, the photo album I was working on or whatever. I have had numerous conversations with adobe chat as well. To no avail. What am I supposed to do, except buy Affinity? 

I tried opening the Contact Sheet II app in Elements 2021 and got these two messages: The operation could not be completed.The file or directory could not be found. Next message was:Could not complete the Contact Sheet II command because of a program error. I am using a Macbook Air, 2020, M1 and Ventura 13.3.1. (a)what do i do ??

I have Photoshop and Premiere Elements 2022 and was looking at upgrading. I found the upgrade for both that I had in the past, but it's quite near what it costs new. And now I see that 2025 has a 3 year license, which means that it can go silent one day too. I looked around the forum and saw that 2024 was the final year that the license was offered as it had been in the past and that it's only available from retailers. Unfortunately I can't find any retailers and only people offering 2024 upgrade versions on eBay and other places that I'd find suspect. Is there any official list that you might have for retailers? At the moment, I'm considering this or migrating elsewhere and dealing with the learning curve for what is surprisingly an even lower cost. I'm very confused why Adobe has done this and I have to wonder whether this is signaling the end of the line for this great but aging software.

I am having difficulty finding the right tool to tighten up a double chin or remove a little from a person's waistline in a photo. Does anyone know the best tool(s) to use??? Thanks for your help! Dian

I just downloaded PSE 2025's 7-day trial. I'm able to open the app, but on the home page where it asks you to open Organizer or Photo Editor, when I click on Editor, it opens this screen (see attached photo). When I click on Get Started, it takes me to the Internet, to this page. What am I doing wrong? I'm working in Windows 10, 64 bit. 

I have upgraded to a Win 11 PC and have reinstalled PSE 2024. I copied and pasted all the plugins from my old PC to the plugin folder of PSE 2024.  I tried to launch the "Beauty Pilot" plugin and got some kind of error message. I forgot what it said.  So I decided to remove the .8bf plugin, reboot and put it back again. In the meantime, I installed the beauty pilot software and registered it.  However, the "Beauty Pilot" plugin still refuses to show  up under the filter menu of PSE 2024.  The 32 bit plugin works fine in PSE 10 installed on the same PCAlso the 64 bit plugin works fine in PSE 2020  installed on the same PC The same 64 bit plugin is invisible in PSE 2024. In PSE 2024, I checked Help/System info.Optional and third party plug-ins: It's not showing therePlug-ins that failed to load: NONE I reset PSE preferences. I have 2 network printers. Yesterday, I was able to print just fine to printer A.  Today, Photoshop Elements 2020 insists on printing to printer B, no matter what I do. I tell it in the print dialog the correct printer, but it always sends the job to the other printer. I resorted to printing from Photoshop Elements 2018 (which is still installed), but that is a PITA since some of the editing I am doing is easier with some of the newer features of 2020, so I have to edit on 2020, save the file, close 2020, open 2018, load the file, and then print. Obviously, the printer is installed correctly, and it is the default printer, but 2020 just refuses to output a print job to it. Can anyone help? Windows 10 Pro, up to date with latest release.

Duplicate photos with same exact filenames (all are .JPG file extensions) and file sizes are appearing as results for Visual Searches that I’m making with PSE 2025 Elements Organizer. They aren’t “.raw” files with the same name and different file sizes.These are not COPIES such as would appear after importing images (That type of duplicate image usually appears with a “1234-1” filename, signifying that it is a copy of an original).I recently upgraded from PSE 2023 to PSE 2025 with RAW Editor installed. After cleaning up the usual duplicate images (FIND / VISUAL SEARCH / DUPLICATE PHOTOS), there remain many images with the same file name and file size in the PSE 2025 Organizer Catalog. They seem to grow with each opening and closing of the PSE 2025 program.The PSE 2023 Catalog that was brought into PSE 2025, was clean of duplicates and was up to date.What causes these duplicates in Organizer Catalogues? How can I make a full backup of photos and metadata from Photoshop Elements 2021 to an external hard drive?

I am having the same issues with trying to login and asking for my serial number and then loops back to login.  It asks to login, I login (even though I'm already logged in online). It then asks to activate and input my serial number even though I already activated it. After taking my serial number(copied from my online account page) it takes me right back to login to start the loop. I am unable to use Photoshop elements 2022 at all because of this. I have verified that creative cloud is installed and updated. I even removed photoshop and downloaded it again from my online accounts page.
