Hi! can someone help me fix this issue? I'm experiencening this glitch of pink screen whenever I open files in Adobe Illustrator. It it stays for like 1-2 sec the moment AI opens.
Every time I open illustrator all the layers in my file expand showing every single sub-layer. This is beyond annoying because I have to close EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. How do I fix this????
After updating to v29.1 version of Adobe Illustrator, the design files have become very large when saved, and I don't understand why. For example, I opened an old file that was about 500MB on an external hard drive, and when I saved it as a new file in the Documents folder, the size increased to over 4GB.Yesterday, I was shocked when this software saved a file that reached 11GB and took about 30 minutes. As a result, my 32GB RAM is always full, constantly at 90-100% during the process. What should I do to fix this? Thank you everyone for reading!
I am experiencing a persistent "Broken File Association" issue across my Creative Cloud suite. After installing and subsequently uninstalling the Beta versions of Illustrator and Photoshop, my OS no longer recognizes .ai or .psd files.Symptoms: Blank Icons: All .ai and .psd files appear as "blank paper" icons rather than the standard Adobe app icons. Broken "Open With": Double-clicking a file does not launch the application. Instead, it triggers a system "Choose an app" pop-up. Missing from List: The current, non-beta versions of Illustrator and Photoshop do not appear as options in the recommended "Open With" menu. Current Workaround: I am forced to open the applications first and use Ctrl + O to browse for files, which is severely impacting my workflow. Troubleshooting Already Attempted: Manual Association: Attempted to "Always use this app" via the system right-click menu (failed to register). Reinstallation: Uninstalled and reinstalled the stable versions of Illustrator and
Hi AllIve had this issue for a while when i manually rotate an object or piece of text that partway through the rotation the software freezes and i get the spinning beachball. The only way out is to force restart illustrator. This can be something as simple as rotating a single digit of text or a simple rectangle. anything really. It doesnt happen every single time but because its a roll of the dice as to wether it will happen im just using the rotate tool from the tool palette instead which works fine.Any ideas on how to fix this would be much appreciated.
Hello Adobe team and community,I would like to suggest improving Adobe Illustrator to better utilize multi-core CPUs. Currently, Illustrator mainly uses one or two cores, which limits performance, especially with large and complex files.Enhancing multi-threading support could significantly boost speed and responsiveness, helping professionals work more efficiently with heavy projects.
Help! My cursor isn't changing in Illustrator 2020. It's constantly a black arrow no matter which tool I am using. I'm attaching a screen grab video. I'm using the pen, direct select, rectangle, then type...and it just stays a black arrow. Thanks for your help!
As noted… tools often have the wrong icon? For example - I draw a square. As I move my cursor, possibly over a corner of the square, it becomes the rotate symbol - however, I can then draw another square while the cursor remains the rotate symbol.Or, just navigating around before drawing the square, the cursor is the hand symbol.Just noticed this today - I don’t think there was any update. Not sure how to troubleshoot this… any suggestions?
Hi,Suddenly this function isn't working correctly for me.In the 3D Material, I added two symbols. Previously, I could easily click on a symbol and move it around the surface of the 3D object. But now, it's become difficult. When I try to click on the first symbol (there are two in total), the mouse movement doesn't move the symbol—it moves the entire 3D object instead.Example (the attached screenshot)Try to re-position the symbol behind the flower symbol, and click the layer, but when moving, the whole 3d object moves, not the symbol .
My illustrator crashed and reverted my file back to a VERY early version. I found the .aid files for the file, but it won't open the file. It says "This is an unsupported file type." I tried to change the .aid file to an .ai file, and that also didn't work. I can see the content in a .txt file, but that doesn't do me much good when Illustrator refuses to open it. 😞 Can anyone help?! This is hours worth of work!

When using a colored artboard, the artboard then exports as an object and imports as an object into another .ai file. The artboard color is described as just being a visible GUI change, but it is acting as an object. SEE VIDEO.
As of March 30th, Adobe made Generative Turntable a reality in the standalone app. If you haven't seen it yet, it basically allows you to take flat, 2D vector artwork and spin it like a 3D object to see different angles and top-down views. A couple of people had commented on the YouTube video, and for their fashion careers, this cuts the costs and time to render a vector drawing in seconds versus hours. The speed is undeniable. When we can generate a 180-degree character turnaround with a slider instead of manually redrawing every limb and perspective, are you feeling empowered by the speed, or do you feel a bit of "creative guilt" over how much of the heavy work that Illustrator’s AI is doing? Please drop a comment with your experience! ~ Love to hear how your process or thoughts has shifted—No right or wrong answers here—just your honest take!
I have just bought a brand new MICROSOFT 13" Surface Pro OLED, Copilot+ PC - Snapdragon X Elite, 1 TB SSD I am trying to download illustrator, however, it will not install. On my creative cloud, it only shows the online beta version (which is not what I want). When I use the browser to download the app, it downloads the set up file. After double clicking on the set up file (+ trying run as administrator), it just opens my creative cloud again but doesn't install. I've had a surface pro in the past (one of the earlier models) and it worked absolutely fine. Help!
I've seen lots of answers to variations of this question, but not the specific answer - if there is one!I have 3 versions of artwork on 3 artboards. Can I hide individual artboards – you know, swtich them off and on... like layers – without having to use the layers panel? Thanks
I can find no way to select a range of objects in the layer list. I’ve seen a lot of inaccurate claims, even a video showing Shift-clicking to extend the selection (which is exactly what should happen, since that’s a universal standard across platforms). But this does not work (I’m mostly on Windows, BTW). Dragging with hotkeys also doesn’t work. Is this seriously broken in 2026? What is the point of filtering the list if you can’t multi-select in the results and perform some action? It’s also mind-boggling that there’s no context menu. You can multi-highlight a range of objects by Shift-clicking on their names, but there’s no context menu where you might say “add to selection” or the like. I also tried highlighting a range and then pressing the spacebar. This is the standard for toggling checkboxes with the keyboard. And it’s another standard violated by Adobe here, because it doesn’t work. And finally, even if you have the object list filtered (I am showing only text objects), you ca
Hello! Apologies if I’m not using the correct terminology.I’m using illustrator to create the files that I use with a laser cutter, and in order to minimize superfluous cutting I use “outline" in the pathfinder window to connect pieces. I’m encountering an issue that I’ve never encountered. Outlining two of the shapes creates no issues, but if I outline three it changes what seems to count as inside and outside of an otherwise closed shape. The cutting software can’t cut saying that (paraphrasing) the file includes shapes that aren’t closed.I thought that maybe if I opted not to align the side edges, maybe that would circumvent the problem, but it didn’t:One thing that might be of note: the stroke is aligned to “center” on all three shapes in the stroke window, as are the cap and corner, but once I outline it the cap and corner stay centered and the stroke alignment moves to “inside” alignment (the left box).I can work around this by creating batches of two pieces with a little bit of
Getting this error message in Illustrator now after CC updates and Mac OS Update. Adobe AI Version. 26.2.1Mac OS Monterey 12.3.1 Saving files to a 6TB Seagate External Drive. This has been working for a year with no issues. Just doing a general "Save" after making some revisions to the file.
Illustrator has no master pages, but my free script comes pretty close: it locks shared artwork to the same position on every artboard, something Symbols alone can't do.Short demo: https://tur.nz/23
See Video to understand the issue.Like, are we for real? This is the professional app we’re paying for every month? This is the quality I have to work with?Adobe has lost its path. Can’t even use absolutely basic features anymore. Quality is steadily declining. And don’t blame me for posting this in this forum. I googled and tried to find a working bug report link, which is nonexistent or hidden. This is so utterly untrustworthy, it’s not even funny.
Usually when I place an Ai file into another Ai file it acts like it should: If I make changes to the original, when I go back to the file it’s placed in, it asks if I want to update it. Just now, I placed an Ai file into another Ai file, and instead of placing it, it pasted the artboard from the placed file so that it’s editable in the file it’s been placed into. WHAT?? Is this something new? The backstory is that I’m putting together a presentation of creative concepts to present to a client. The creative is placed into the presentation document multiple times, hence my having one creative development file to edit that automatically updates multiple instances in the presentation doc.
When I first open Illustrator, my library works fine. After a certain amount of time, it becomes a static image where I can't click on anything and when I resize the panel, it just elongates or skews the panel like it is an image. This is not true of any other items in my tools. The only way to fix it is to fully quit Illustrator and reopen. It was just happening in Illustrator, but recently has started happening to my InDesign as well.
Since I have done the latest Illustrator update, sometimes when I go to move an object with the selection tool, holding shift to keep the object level, the object won't move where I want it to. A green circle with a plus sign in the middle of it appears, and the object jumps all over the screen or jumps back to where it was, and makes a sound. It is very frustrating. It isn't a snapping issue. I have never had this problem until recently.
My current default type tool is set to the Area Type tool instead of the standard T type tool. How do I change this? Windows 10, Adobe 2019.
