My friend is working to transfer files from Word & Pages by copying and pasting to format into InDesign software for a book project. Now I bought a PDFMARKZ software to eliminate her task of doing copy & paste for all 60 books to format!Next step I am stuck on is trying to figure out how to use the same User setting that is in the finished formatted InDesign for the PDF files thats transfered to InDesign.Does anyone have recommendations or solutions to my question?
Good morning Everyone, I am hoping someone can help me.... I've been asked to create a document that would be ESEF-ready. I use InDesign as my favoured document software but this "ESEF" is new to me. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be a massive help! Thank you for your time, Rob
Hello! Thank you for your time. To keep it brief: - making an A5 flyer to send to a print shop- can confirm the page size is 148 x 210mm- have added a bleed of 3mm and margin of 3mm as requested by print shop- when i export to PDF, the document far exceeds the 160 x 222mm, where it seems to have added another 9mm / 4.5mm each side. This doesn't seem to change if I try to turn off one or other or the corner markings. Please help! Many thanks
Hello! I have a PNG of a QR code generated outside of adobe that I'm trying to place into a flyer in InDesign. The image works and is stable elsewhere. When I place (linked) into my document, it appears normal and after a minute or so it glitches out, and changes every minute or so. I think some other community posters are experiencing the same thing but many of the answers are related to the native QR code feature. See attached images for examples. I can delete the placed image and place it again and it will appear normal for a few minutes before doing this again. Each time it looks different.
Is there a way that i can globally update a word/number once, and it globally updates throughout the indd file? I'm working on a report that references numeric data values throughout, both inside indd tables, and text boxes, and i have to meticulously track any updates throughout the document. If there was a way to link numbers throughout the report as I go, that i can globally update as changes process, that would be very helpful!
I am having a problem where artwork created in Illustrator and saved as a .ai file are showing hidden, locked layers when placed into InDesign. The strange thing is that Indesign is recognizing some of the links with the hidden layer and keeping that layer hidden while not so with others. All of the links have been created from the same basic Illustrator file that I have done a "save as" over to create a new file. I just updated to the most recent versions this morning (Illustrator 23.1.1, Indesign 14.0.3). I have a workaround that I was able to come up with for this particular project I am working on, but I would like to know if there is a solution (an adjustment to preferences perhaps) I can use for the future. I feel like I cannot possibly be the first person to have this problem, so if there is another post somewhere with the solution to this, please let me know—I just couldn't find anything.
I have placed a Word doc that contains end notes. All the note references in the text come into InDesign, but only about 2/3 of the notes get placed. I have had problems in the past when there are text boxes in Word that interrup the flow of text, but I removed all of those and put the text they had contained into the regular flow of text. Any ideas of how to fix the note cutoff? ID 20.5 Mac Studio M2 Max OS Sequoia 15.6.1 Word for Mac 16.101.3
I'm working with a document which contains a lot of these characters, which can be found with Find/Replace as <FEFF>, but everytime i try to delete any of them the program crashes. Other discussions in this forum referred to it as a text anchor, but there are no hyperlinks on the document, i'm using Indesign 2023.
Just exported a PDF from InDesign set to :View: Fit Page | Layout: Two-Up (Cover Page) Renders great in Firefox : Cover first, then 2 pages per row, then back cover. Perfect! But Edge and Opera will only display one page per row, ignoring the Two-Up layout setting. Haven't tried in Chrome, but I assume the behavior mimicks Edge's. Is there no way to force the uncooperative browsers to display those 2-page spreads two pages per row? It's not like I added any special extensions to FF; is it an Adobe partner while the other ones aren't? Can coding trickery overcome this or is this a browser limitation I have to live with?
HelloRefer to this threadhttps://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/diacritics-omitted-in-arabic-persian-text-when-exporting-to-pdf-in-indesign-19-5/m-p/15388012 I found a bug in Arabic indesign. when you type "zer with none joiner" between to chracters If there is a kerning between these characters in old text shaping indesign ignors kerning but in new text shaping It ignors zwnj character and implements kerning so what happend? when you open idml of old files tou may see some changes in your layout and in long documnets It would be disaster.sample text: میگرداندند There is zwnj between ی and گ. in screenshot you can see different. Thanks
I'm working on designing documents using InDesign, by transferring content from Word. However, the content size in Word is very large, and transferring the text manually requires more time and effort. My question is: Is there a method or tool that can help me transfer content from Word to InDesign more quickly?
Hello, When placing the main large-format photograph, what is the best practice for its color mode and resolution to ensure high-quality printing, and which InDesign panel would you use to verify its link status and color mode?
I've used a font called "Berkeley Old Style" for a layout in Adobe InDesign in 2019. I jsut tried to locate it in Adobe Fonts and the message says it can't find it. Does anyone know what happened to that font in Adobe. Or is there an alternative font I can use?

It's not possible to automatically add spaces between words by pressing the space bar.The words appear without spaces:When I press the space bar, this appears:Do you want to save the changes indesign document adobe before closing? In other programs (PS, AI), the space bar works fine. How can I fix this? Rosita Boedingrosit@zeelandnet.nl

Object styles seem to allow duplicate names as long as they're in different groups. The condition"if(!d.objectStyles.itemByName(a1).isValid)" doesn't appear to check for "a1" within its own group.Instead, it requires this approach:if(!d.objectStyleGroups.itemByName(“AA”).objectStyles.itemByName(a1).isValid)) Since I don't know all group names, is there a way to check if the style `a1` exists in any group or outside all groups?
Are there any good guides online or in print to formatting a book with InDesign? I have 300 pages of scanned editable text and a few grayscale photos from my wife's book, Iron-Jawed Angels by Linda G. Ford for which she has obtained the copyright and wants to issue a reprint. I have produced a book using PageMaker back in the day, but am new to InDesign. Any suggestions in getting started would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, I was taught (many years ago) to do my work in Photoshop and then save the final file as a tiff to include in my page layout program. It seems like InDesign files that have a lot of Photoshop files added to them are very large and take a long time to load. Is there a good reason to do one over the other?
Necesito maquetar un libro en indesign con el lomo a la derecha y no sé cómo configurar el documento
I designed a book and printed it using the booklet function and everything printed great. I am using a Mac and chose the 2 up perfect bound style with 16 page signatures. When orgaznizing the signatures I accidentally damaged two spreads and I want to reprint those spreads without having to reprint the entire book. The problem I have is that the book/document in its editable form is not in booklet form so I can't just select a spread and print it because the page numbers are just sequential. They are not in booklet order. When I go to print in booklet I can see the spreads I want to print in the preview but there is no option to just print a solo spread. The range button is kind of confusing because there are no options for spreads or anything and if I put page numbes in it only prints individual page numbers, not the spreads that I need to fit into the booklet. So, how do I print select spreads in booklet form? Any help would be appreciated. I'm sure there is a way, bu
I haven't quite been able to figure out the difference between TRACKING and KERNING.However, in the meantime, is there a keyboard shortcut I can use to enter tracking in (numerical) with the keyboard?
Hello, I am creating a basic end of the book index. Everything was going well until the index grew longer than the one page I added at the end of the file for the index. I added a new page now, updated the index and regenerated the index, but the entries are still only showing in one page and ending at letter i. Any ideas please?
Without warning InDesign began failing to to flow text around a second text box. At the same time it became impossible to indent a paragraph immediately after some, but not all image caption text boxes. I've used Adobe Cloud to delete and reload InDesign thinking my original had become corrupted but the problem persists.
