Initially I was very happy when the history of processed images on the home screen would reveal file location “on computer”. This function does not work any more. I have reset tool and tried changing settings in File Handling to “on Computer” however this does not change and hovering mouse over file in home page will not work. The second issue relates to a Floating Image. No matter what I change settings to my open document still freely floats within the photoshop window and I dont want this. Changing the settings does not alter the floating document.Thank youKen Abrahams
When I open a D300 image in Photoshop it looks OK in ACR and I can make adjustments with out a problem. But when I proceed to Photoshop the image is nothing like what ACR displayed. Colours and contrast are way off with banding and splotches of cyan and magenta in the Skys. This hapens even when I do not make any adjustments in ACR.I usually work in Prophoto but changing to Adobe RGB in both ACR & Photoshop the banding improved but the colours and contrast are still way off. The original images are all RAW files. This happening with all my D300 NEF files. If I first convert to DNG using the Adobe converter, same problems.I decided to go back to some older images that I really like and redo them with updated software. My first digital camera was a D300 and from 2008 to 2012 we traveled with it to various parks etc. RAW images taken with later Nikon cameras process with out a problem (D800 - Z8).I am Using the latest versions of ACR and Photoshop. My PC has 64G of memory and the GPU
I installed the latest version of Photoshop, but when I try to start it, I get the error shown in the photo. I have tried at least five times to completely remove everything from my Windows 11 system and also used your tool to delete the remaining files. After each attempt I restarted the computer, but the problem still persists.Could you please tell me what might be wrong? I urgently need Photoshop.Thank you for your help.
Hi, I’m Seán Duggan and I work on the Adobe Learn team. I recently published a video covering the basics for getting started with Photoshop in ChatGPT. This capability lets people have a conversation with Photoshop and tell it what type of edits they want to make. It’s likely more relevant for people who don’t have a lot of Photoshop experience, but who want to tap into some of the possibilities it offers. If you’re curious about how this works, or about the integration between Photoshop in ChatGPT and Photoshop on the web, I’d love your feedback — and I’ll be here to answer any questions.
Hello everyone! I use Photoshop to color my illustrations. A problem I have with this is that whenever I scan my drawing, the pen lines show up as not as smooth as I'd like them to be. So I usually have to go over the entire drawing and manually erase certain edges and re-draw. Does anyone here happen to know whether there is a quicker way of smoothing out these drawn lines in Photoshop? It could be a big help if there is an answer to this! Thanks!I have included a closeup picture of the line to show what I mean:
I hate that the "contextual taskbar" icon is constantly interfering with my work...it's blocking me in the middle, to the right, to the left, on top of objects, everywhere...it's really ridiculous.
I’m trying to use all the bit depth in my timelapse sequences to create HDR versions but I can’t figure out what file formats to use. The images are processed in Photoshop and Camera Raw and exported as 16-bit TIFF in the Adobe RGB color space.I’ve tried converting those Adobe RGB images to Rec2100 PQ via Camera Raw but then the images are very low contrast in After Effects. After Effects is properly set up to use Rec2100 media within a Rec2100 color space but the Lumetri scopes show that the brightest parts of the image never exceed about half of the allowable brightness value. The same is true when I pull the Rec2100 PQ output into Resolve as well, so it’s a problem with the Camera Raw output. The images look OK in After Effects if I work in a Rec2100 HLG space but there’s no way to output to that space from Camera Raw. And Rec2020 looks OK in After Effects but Rec2100 is supposed to be the HDR workspace. So I can’t find a combination of file formats that works for HDR timelapse vi
Using Photoshop 27.4.0, Mac Tahoe 26.4, using my computer when working in Photoshop. I used to be able to use Command H to hide the application as I worked between LR and Ps. That shortcut continues to work on my older computer, on my new laptop, but for some reason no longer works on my Mac Mini. The only way I can minimize it is to click on the yellow circle in top left corner. I’ve gone into Keyboard Shortcuts, to View > Extras which shows the Command symbol+H. How do I get the shortcut back the way I want it to work? Thanks in advance.
I am Looking to recreate this distressed ink effect with displacement maps? I have had a go in photoshop but I am looking for the distressing on the edge of letters?
I have an image with multiple layers used to basically create the subject (I don’t know if I do this the most efficient way, but if I have an object that needs to be above layered part of the subject, but below another part, I create different layers [for instance there is something around the neck which need to go a layer below the chin, but remain a layer above the rest of the subject) - so my question is can you AI Harmonize the subject with the surroundings if the ‘shown’ photo is on multiple layers. Thanks in advance, Rob
Adjusting the Brush Hardness slider causes Photoshop v27.5 to completely hang. The UI becomes unresponsive until the window is minimized and restored. After restoring, the slider value remains unchanged.Device: Lenovo ThinkPad P15 Gen 1GPU: NVIDIA Quadro T1000 (Studio Driver 573.91)OS: Windows 11Interaction with the Hardness slider triggers a full application freeze. The freeze is temporarily bypassed by toggling the window (Minimize/Restore), but the setting isn't applied.Comparison: Version 27.3 exhibited slight lag during the same action but functioned correctly. Version 27.5 is unusable in this regard. No effect:Toggling "GPU Compositing" in Performance settings.Testing with both a mouse and a stylus (Windows Ink is disabled).Request:This appears to be a regression in the UI rendering engine specifically affecting Quadro T1000 hardware or similar Turing-based mobile workstation GPUs. Please investigate the compatibility of the new "Native Canvas" or UI overlay system with these drive
I work with several templates where I only replace the main images in the relink window to create a batch save. For the past two days, Photoshop has simply refused to open the files because it says "the link to a smart object file is missing".You have no idea how much trouble this is causing me. I have certificates to issue, social media packages to generate, portfolio artwork to create, and the files simply won't open! After the error screen, the following message appears: "Could not complete the command because of a program error (d773e8.7368)"Please, does anyone have a solution? I've already followed all the steps on the troubleshooting page and it didn't help.
Hey all,I’ve been creating posts like this for a while and I’ve never seen this box that seems to never go away. FYI: I have hidden all my layers and still the box is there.
I recently upgraded to Windows 11. I use a Wacom tablet and pen for my work. I have noticed that when I want to move a guideline with my pen an annyoing white circle appears and the line won't move. I can move the guideline with my mouse but I prefer to use the pen in my workflow. I have been unable to find any information on how to stop this from happening. Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
Hello community, dear experts I'm very frustrated. After the release of Photoshop 27.5, I was hoping I could finally use my Wacom brushes with the latest version. After updating from Photoshop 27.3.1 to 27.4, this was no longer possible despite extensive experimentation (https://community.adobe.com/questions-712/photoshop-2026-friert-nach-update-27-4-0-15-sofort-ein-1550933) Unfortunately, the problem persists in version 27.5:Freshly installed, opened. One brush stroke, brush size adjusted with the slider: Photoshop freezes.Constantly reproducible. I also followed @AxelMatt advice and installed the older Wacom driver that works with his (older) tablets – same result. Even with this driver, Photoshop freezes during the aforementioned action.Photoshop doesn't seem to actually crash, but simply becomes unresponsive. I then have to wait, switch back and forth between the desktop and the program, and then the program responds again, allowing me to at least close it (though I still can't us
this is happening to me too. All my settings from suggestions below are correct. I can't use the brush or eraser.
Hi everyone, I need help with a persistent Photoshop crash that seems related to Camera Raw.Issue:Photoshop crashes every time I try to open any image (JPG, PNG, or RAW). It shows the message: “Sorry, something went wrong”.Additionally, Photoshop crashes immediately when I try to access: Edit → Preferences → Camera RawBecause of this, I believe the issue is specifically tied to the Camera Raw plugin.Troubleshooting already performed:Disabled GPU acceleration Updated GPU drivers (clean install) Uninstalled Photoshop (without keeping preferences) Used Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool Deleted Camera Raw folders: AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw AppData\Local\Adobe\CameraRaw Removed Camera Raw plugin (.8bi) and reinstalled Removed Photoshop Beta completely Installed an older Photoshop version (same issue persists)FYI, Lightroom Classic works perfectly with the same files, so RAW decoding itself does not appear to be the issue.System information:Photoshop version: 27.4 OS: Windows 11 25h2
Not sure if this is a me problem or a wider problem, but when I’m attempting to save a new PSD and click “Save to Adobe Cloud”, instead of opening the window to allow me to do so, Photoshop closes the “Save As” window and then automatically reopens it. This doesn’t happen all the time but once it starts happening, I have no other option but to save locally, then close and restart Photoshop before I can once again save to cloud. It’s frustrating, and I am wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue and if so, has a solution to stop it from happening again? Thank you!
After the latest Photoshop update, the desktop shortcut no longer works. When I click the Photoshop shortcut on Windows 11, the cursor shows a loading circle for a few seconds, but the application never opens. Nothing happens after that. However, if I open Adobe Creative Cloud and click the "Open" button for Photoshop from there, the application launches normally without any issues. This issue started immediately after the recent update. Before that, the shortcut worked without any problems.Steps to reproduce:Double-click the Photoshop desktop shortcut Wait a few seconds The loading cursor appears briefly, but Photoshop does not openExpected result:Photoshop should launch normally when clicking the desktop shortcut.Actual result:Nothing happens after clicking the shortcut, but it works when launched from Adobe Creative Cloud.
when a backup from photoshop 2025 is recovered on a photoshop 2025 computer does it overwrite the files
Hi everyone,I recently updated to the latest version of Photoshop (2026), and I’m encountering an issue with the Remove Background feature that was previously working perfectly. Now, when I try to use the “Remove Background” quick action, Photoshop shows the following message:“This action can only be applied to image layers. To try on a different layer, select the one you want from the Layers panel, then click Refresh.”However, I am selecting a valid image (pixel) layer. As shown in the attached screenshot: The correct layer is selected in the Layers panel. It is clearly a pixel layer (not a smart object, adjustment layer, or locked background). The image is visible and editable. Despite this, the Apply button remains disabled and the action fails with “Couldn't apply action.”Steps to reproduce: Open any image Ensure a pixel layer is selected Go to Discover panel → Remove Background Try to apply the action Expected result:The background should be removed as before.Actual resul
Here are the directions I am followingOpen your image in Photoshop.Click on the "Image" menu at the top of your screen.Select "Adjustments" from the drop-down menu.Choose "Replace Color…" from the Adjustments options.A "Replace Color" dialog box will appear.Click on the "Sampled Colors" option in the dialog box.Use the "Eyedropper" tool (the icon looks like a little dropper) that appeared in the "Replace Color" dialog box to click on the color in the image that you want to change. This adds the color you want to replace to the selection. To add more shades of the selected color, you can use the "Add to Sample" tool (the eyedropper with a plus sign). After you've selected the color you want to replace, you can use the "Hue," "Saturation," and "Lightness" sliders to change the selected color to the new color you want.Once you've made the color changes you desire, click OK to close the dialog box. I was initially attempting to do this on a largly black and white photo. I later read tha
I know how to use generative expand on an image and how to use generative fill. But suppose I have a white background with a smaller image in front of it on a separate layerand I want to use generative expand just on that smaller image. Can it be done? Or can I only expand a full sized image? I haven't found a way to do this.
Hello everyone.Apparently that possibility is no longer available after a specific version of Photoshop CC 2015 and I'm wondering if there is another way to get the same result without too much work and stress.Let's assume that we have a cube 6x6 that I want to slice in single pictures, for some reason the lines on the pictures are not in the same position as the ones created by Photoshop so I will need to move them.In Photoshop CC 2015 after you do right click, slice selection, put your preference and click ok, all the slices are already selected and if you move one of the lines created by Photoshop you will move for the entire slice selection (example in attachment)Something similar can be obtained in the new version of Photoshop if you use the Slice Tool Selection, hold Shift and click in each slice (which is taking a lot of time).Anyone have an idea how to solve/bypass this problem? Thank you
