Common Extensibility Platform not loading. AE won't start

when I try to launch After Effects I get an error saying it can't continue due the the Common Extensibility Platform not loading. Ive looked up and tried all possible solutions and still hasn't worked. Everything from reinstalling to granting Read/Write permissions and still does not launch.

I open AE, drop a video file and a still picture into Project, drag the video to the Layer window, and it crashes. This keeps happening.

Frame.io in after effects on creative cloud included plan. "unsupported account"

I'm trying to use Frame.io in the panel in AE, but end up going around in circles. When I click to log in with my adobe ID, it seem like I can log in, but then I get a message saying something about "unsupported account" and there's a button to click to go to a "v4 comments panel." I click that button and nothing happens. WTF? It does seem that I'm logged in though, I can click to see my account info and can start to create a new project, but when I try to confirm the new project, the dialog box just doesn't close and no project is created. Am I doing something wrong, or is this frame.io panel just broken?

Add UI ScalingOpen for Voting

The After Effects user interface is very diffuclt to work with at 4k, even on very large monitors. To wit, on a 32" monitor at 3840x2160, the text of a layer name is 1/16 of an inch tall– 8 layers are packed into each vertical inch. The Console Debug "AdobeCleanFontSize" workaround has no effect on some aspects of the interface, such as layer names, text in effect control panes, etc. This undersized UI poses legibility challenges, and slows workflow by requiring an extrordinary level of pointing accuracy to click on things. Illustrator solves this problem elegantly by adding a "UI scaling" slider control to the "User Interface" pref pane. Photoshop solves this problem a bit less elegantly but still effectively with a "UI Font Size" and a "Scale UI to Font" option.  I suggest the AE team adopts one of these appoaches.  I'd also suggets that this be a very high priority. It is necessary for most AE artists to work at 4k these days, making this an annoyance that I deal with

After Effect 2026 playback lagging heavily despite decent PC

Current Spec: 64GB DDR4, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, set my disk cache at 115GB on 3400MB/s read speed, about 5000MB/s write speed, set ram reserved for other app to 6GB, paid application, enable multiframe renderingSomething likes this took me like 1 min to play back, its literally just basic 3d rotation and positioning keyframe, no crazy plugin or effectTried switching the codec for the video on another comp but it doesnt help muchI can add some other settings/info if needed

Issue : “Fill” effect and other miscellaneous pre-installed effects are entirely missing from the Effects Panel and “Manage Effects” windowAE version : 26.2OS : MacOS Tahoe 26.3.1What I did to try and fix the issue : reset Preferences uninstalled and reinstalled AE opened the “Manage Effects” window and activated all effects uninstalled and reinstalled in an older version (25.6.5)The last step allowed me to see “Fill” again in the list

Font drammatically changes when switch to Andvanced 3D

Excuse moi… What the hell is that?! It’s the first time in 15 years in After Effects I’ve had this: Absolutely nothing special here. A fresh project with one video precomped, tracked, camera and text added. That is all. I cannot use Advanced 3D today because it messes up my font. Tried resetting AE preferences with Ctrl+Shift+Alt on load. Tried resetting font preferences, choose other fonts. Tried changing Advanced 3D preferences.AE 26.0.0, 14700K, 4080, 64 Gb of ram

Some third-party plug-ins show garbled non-English UI text in After Effects 26.2

After updating to After Effects 26.2, I noticed that some third-party plug-ins are showing garbled text in their UI controls.In my case, I can clearly reproduce this with plug-ins that include Chinese text, and I suspect it may also affect other non-English or non-Latin languages as well.What made me pay attention to this is the 26.2 release note saying:“Effect names are now correctly encoded for Unicode characters when accessed by third-party plug-ins.”So I’m wondering if this may be related.One detail that seems important: if I open project files that already use these third-party effects in Safe Mode (without loading third-party plug-ins), the Chinese parameter names display correctly. But in normal mode, some of those same labels appear garbled.I’m not the plug-in developer, just an end user reporting what I observed in testing, so I can’t tell whether this is an AE issue, a plug-in compatibility issue, or an interaction between both. At first, I thought it was due to my PC's configuration, but I recently upgraded it and the problem persists. I've reset the After Effects settings several times and it's still the same. Now, something strange is that if I work with only one view, After Effects doesn't freeze, so I only work with that single view currently. Can no longer change Theme UI Color in After Affects?Open for Voting

Hi:   Up until the latest update (2025) for After Effects. I was able to change my Theme UI Color. This link shows a video of how you used to able to change the Theme UI Color: (Mod note: Link removed)   I contacted an Adobe Agent and he said several changes were included in this latest update of After Effects. He said to file a feature request here in hopes of getting that feature back again. The After Effects Version I am using is: 25.0.0 (Build 53) and I am running it on a PC with a Windows 11.  This may not seem like a big issue to some people but it's something I got used to as part of my workflow.  If you could bring this feature back it would greatly be appreciated!   Mod note: Please do not condone the use of internal engineering tools like Console. Scroll to Zoom not working in After Effects 25.3 on macOS

In After Effects 25.3 on macOS, using mouse scroll or Option + mouse scroll no longer zooms in the composition panel. Instead, it pans the view, regardless of modifier key. This function worked fine in version 25.2. Tested on multiple Macs with clean installs and no tablet drivers.Please restore the ability to zoom with scroll in a future update.

Anchor Point & Graphic Area

If you want to change the position of the anchor point you have to use the anchor pt tool [Y]. But changing the [X, Y] coordinates of the anchor pt in the timeline will not change the position of the anchor point in the graphic area. So that what is purpose of anchor pt coordinates in the timeline ? Video also attached.

AE 26.xx won't play back. Composition is 'frozen'. When quitting, then requires Force Quit.

Hi team — Starting a project per usual. Fine for the first hour or so. At a certain point the composition window freezes. Playing and scrubbing does nothing. I then quit, which freezes the app, making me Force Quit. This has been an issue in all versions of 26. Currently still causing issues on 26.2. I have 25.6.5 which continues to work well. Have cleared caches, checked disk settings, reset preferences. Any others experiencing this issue? This version isn’t usable. **Apple M2 Max96 GBMac OS Tahoe Version 26.3.1 (a) (25D771280a)

Accurate Creative Cloud Color SwatchesOpen for Voting

I wish there was a way to accurately and quickly use color swatches from my Creative Cloud color library in my After Effects projects. I create digital assets for many different brands, so I have their respective RGB colors saved in my CC library. When I choose those swatches in Photoshop, the Hex codes are correct and the colors are accurate. The only way I've found to choose a CC library color swatch in After Effects is by using the eyedropper tool. While this generally works okay, there are certain colors that are inaccurate and the Hex codes don't match. I don't understand why it works fine in Photoshop but not in After Effects. Both working spaces are sRGB IEC61966-2.1 and both use Adobe color management. So the eyedropper function in After Effects needs to be accurate, or there could possibly be a swatches panel in After Effects...or something! Help me out Adobe, I can't be the only one struggling with this.

Preview fails to start / CTI jumps back one frame on second Spacebar press

Intermittently, pressing the playback shortcut (Spacebar or Numpad Enter) fails to initiate a preview. On the first press, the UI appears to "stutter" but nothing happens. On the second press, the Current Time Indicator (CTI) moves back exactly one frame and playback still does not begin
