After Effects

Using the latest version of After Effects - both my main Desktop machine (Windows 11) = and laptop (Windows 10) are freezing and crashing. Graphics and Video. No other app is causing this. Most often triggered when TAB through windows to different apps. Please sort this out. Not acceptable.

Hi everyone,I recently updated After Effects, and performance has been much worse than before. It got very slow, and now it doesn’t even open — even though it was working (just slowly) last week on the same machine.I have 16GB RAM, and while I know that’s not high-end, but I used to run Photoshop, After Effects, and Illustrator (and sometimes even InDesign) simultaneously on an older, weaker laptop without major issues, so this is a beyond disappointing.I also upgraded to this laptop just last year, so replacing it isn’t really an option — especially when the issue seems tied to Adobe’s updates rather than my hardware.What’s frustrating is that I can’t access older, more stable versions through Creative Cloud. I’m paying for a subscription, and part of that value (from a user perspective) is being able to use versions that actually work on your system.If anyone from Adobe happens to read this, I’d really appreciate being contacted directly to possibly get access to a 2022 or 2023 versi

When adding a light, the environment changes to just show whats lit leaving everything else in black shadow. I want to change the shadow color to a sky blue so it looks like the objects are in an infinite blue space. While still having the use of the light. What’s a good work around/solution to this? I’ve added a blue solid in the background to show what I’m going for. 

I've found a number of tutorials on this subject, but they all reference earlier versions of AE and don't apply to the current one.  In particular, they end up modifying the AdobeCleanFontSize property which I'm unable to find in AE 2025.  I'd also like to increase the size of the UI icons.  Any tips greatly appreciated.

What is purpose of having two zoom-in?  

I am unsure if it is a bug or an exporting issue going over my head, but I am creating some basic animations for a client; however, no matter what I do, the solid background color changes to the wrong hex value.I know this is not a media player issue because the issue remains the same if I export it as a .mov (ProRES) or .mp4 (H.264). I bring both exports to After Effects and confirm using the eyedropper. The correct Hex code value I am looking for is #1414D2 (it's blue). However, my exports bring out #1314D1. Which is very close, but my client is VERY SPECIFIC. Hi..I have a composition that has 3d elements (OBJ files exported from Autodesk Fusion)…. nothing too complex.. I don’t think, anyway.I am working w/ three monitors. After Effects on one where I primarily have my timeline full screen.2nd screen has my 4 camera views.3rd screen is used for other stuff.. e.g., Chrome, Slack, etc. Inconsistently, but regularly, scrubbing the playhead position on the timeline will cause After Effects to stop responding… looking at Windows Task Manager, I can see that it is still plugging away, CPU <20%, memory ranges depending on what I’m doing, but changes periodically tell me that it’s still breathing.I can hang like that for minutes… sometimes a few, sometimes 20 or so.. How do I determine what the root cause is?  I’ve tried various suggestions I’ve found online.. nothing really seems to make a difference… aside from avoiding scrubbing in the timeline.  

I recently updated my laptop to MacOS Tahoe and at the start AfterEffects was working fine until it crashed. Now every time I try to launch it I just get this message: No matter what I do, it will not open. I have tried everything I can find on the internet on forums suggested such as this one: It will not open in save mode. I have tried changing permissions, read/write settings, uninstalling and reinstalling etc.  I was on the phone to Adobe Help for over an hour where the man tried everything he could think of to get it to work on this account. Eventually he made a separate test user account and it launched on that and he then told me it was a problem with Apple and I had to contact them. I then contacted Apple who have no idea how to fix the issue and told me it is an issue with Adobe.  I REALLY need AfterEffects to work on my computer, on my own account as this is where all my files are and I use it for work. I don’t understand why free apps such as Blender and Cavalry work seamles

Buenos dias! Desde Premiere Pro estoy selectando la opcion en un fragmento de video de "Reemplazar con composicion de after effects." Una vez en after effects, realizo el pre-composed del video para generar una nueva composicion (con todos los atributos), selecciono en advanced "detailed analysis”, selecto ademas "specific angle of view” y lo pongo en 40, y asi y  todo siempre me aparece el error de layer must match. Corrobore que ambos videos en ambas aplicaciones estan en 2160 x 3840, 29,97 fps. No eniendo como puedo hacer para trackear un video y poner un texto u otra cosa que trackee un video. Espero me puedan ayudar, ya los videos de youtube y las respuestas anteriores en la comunidad no me sirvieron

After Effects has used all of its memory doing nothing. This happens regardless of computer. Over 45GB ram used without a project file open.   

I can't say for sure, but after two or three more recent versions of AE Beta I started to get a random error, after working for a few minutes the whole computer crashes and then this Direct2D Drawbot Error box. HRESULT:-2005270523 appears, but I can't close it, it keeps reopening endlessly and then I have to force close the program.   I've been using AE Beta since they redid the interface, it's just become another program! It's very fluid and enjoyable. I'm not using to use the retail version because he not received the interface update., but I can say that the problem is in the beta, because when i use the reail version there is no issue i don't have any errors or freezes.   Here's a picture of the error I get when I close.     AE Beta V24.6.0 b23 Windows 11, i7 9750H, GTX 1660TI 6GB, 32gb de RAM, 512gb SSD. When I type, The cursor is moving all over the place

Hi all,I'm trying to make my cep-panel tablet friendly and I've realized that when I click and drag the tablet thinks my panel is a web browser hence it tries to scroll the page instead. Is there anything I can do to disable the scrolling feature in my code? Something I need to add to the manifest file, html, js…?Thank you

I have been using Adobe products for about 5 months and I am concerned about the question why the right mouse click to select a tool does not work? It works correctly in Photoshop, Illustrator but does not work in AE. This did not happen today or yesterday, it has not worked all this time. At first, I thought it was due to my PC's configuration, but I recently upgraded it and the problem persists. I've reset the After Effects settings several times and it's still the same. noob question, if I uninstall After Effects will my installed plugins, scripts, and extensions stay, or will they also be deleted?

So I recently started a new Job where I connected my apple ID to the office intel iMac so i can use my iCloud since between my home Macbook M3 Pro and work. For the first few days it worked well there were no issues with nay of the projects but once premier updated to 26.0.2 the dynamic link stopped working between premier and After Effects so I had to move back to 26.0 on premier (Make that make sense adobe). Since that every day my file paths on After Effects have been breaking every day more and more, it started with maybe one or two clips that I would just reconnect manually but every day it got worst to the point where almost the whole project loses its file paths. I’ve tried downloading from iCloud before opening the AEP, I’ve tried changing the names of files and reconnecting, removed spaces, dots, dashes in the file names. After effects keeps telling me that some of the codexes are damaged or unsupported but every time I reconnect the EXACT SAME file it worked for the rest of t

I’m having a strange issue in After Effects. My PNG files are importing correctly, but in the Project panel the PNG icons don’t show — they appear as blank/white file icons (screenshot attached). Hi, I wanted to ask, why sometimes the inserted expression is not visible? For this example, yesterday, I added expression to this layer and today I would like to adjust some settings, but I can see only TimeRemap and not the expression, even though the expression is still working. Hello,I recently had to reformat my computer, and I usually work with After Effects 2024.Unfortunately, I am no longer able to install it via Creative Cloud. Even when looking under “Other Versions”, After Effects 2024 is no longer offered.I have installed the latest available version (After Effects 2025), but for my projects and some plugins, I really need to reinstall After Effects 2024.I would like to know if there is an official or alternative way to obtain and install After Effects 2024, since Creative Cloud no longer provides it.Thank you very much for your help and advice!

Hi,Just upgraded to 25.2.2 and I am having a strange issue with adding layers its like it randomly clips or switches color space from one frame to the next. Only started happening after upgrading AE and NVIDIA.The screenshots are from the same project just different frames, as you will see it also affects the scopes. Only effect used is 'Fast Box Blur'Switching to 'Software Only' fixes the issue
