Hi everyone,I’m trying to recreate a logo animation where the stroke ends with a diagonal similar to a chamfered edge.I’m currently using a Shape Layer with Stroke, Trim Paths, Taper to Start and End WidthI can make the stroke end “pointy”, but the cut is always perpendicular to the path. What I’m looking for is a true diagonal end on the stroke itself, not a symmetrical taper.I’ve already tried editing the path points taper settings Line caps / joins (butt, miter, round and multiple Trim PathsI want to be sure I’m not missing something obvious. Thanks in advance.
Hi All, I have an RGB, multi-layered Illustrator file which will not import into After Effects, 2025.3 on Mac. Nothing happens when I go through the import; basically, the file does not import and is not visible in After Effects. I have sequenced layers in Illustrator (each layer on its own)File is RGBI have no additional artboardsI have pressed the PDF-compatible file on export I have used this file many times before (with my students, never had a problem). Can someone help, please?
After Effects CC 2026 – Cached Frames Do Not Play BackI’m experiencing an issue in After Effects CC 2026 (v26.0) where cached frames do not play back, even though caching itself appears to work correctly.I confirmed that the same project plays cached frames normally in After Effects v25.6.What’s happening:Frames can be cached via numpad preview or UI controlsDisk cache is clearly working (green cache bar fills correctly in the timeline)However, once caching finishes and I attempt to play the preview, playback does not occur properlyCached frames simply do not play back as expectedWhat I’ve tried so far:Updating GPU driversLaunching After Effects in Safe ModeChanging audio hardware settingsDisabling Disk CacheSwitching renderers:Default rendererAdvanced 3D renderer→ Same issue occurs in all casesDespite all of this, playback still fails in AE 2026, while everything works correctly in AE 25.6 on the same system.Has anyone encountered a similar issue in AE 2026, or is this a known bug/reg
Hey Everyone, I would be enormously appreciative and grateful, if someone who is knowledgeable in After Effects could explain to me how to recreate this really nice particle shimmer effect. Hopefully, there is a method to accomplish this only using the built-in plugins and effects presets. If there is a third-party plugin that I can purchase to achieve an effect that looks nearly identical to the 5 examples I will provide below, please let me know! Thank you so much, and many blessings to all of you! https://www.shutterstock.com/video/clip-18261589-elegant-silver-abstract-snowflakes-christmas-animated-grey https://www.shutterstock.com/video/clip-18229975-elegant-silver-abstract-snowflakes-animated-grey-background https://www.shutterstock.com/video/clip-18229972-elegant-silver-abstract-snowflakes-christmas-animated-grey https://www.shutterstock.com/video/clip-1008201244-elegant-gold-background-abstract-snowflakes-christmas-animated https://www.shutterstock.
Hi everyone,I need to install Adobe After Effects version 24.6, but it’s no longer visible in Creative Cloud under “Other versions”.I have an active Creative Cloud subscription. This specific version is required for compatibility with existing projects and third-party plugins. Is there any official way to get access to AE 24.6?Maybe via support, direct installer, or account enablement?Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
AE 25.6.4 appeared about a week ago and the What’s New and Fixed Issues pages both still refer to v25.6.0 and have last updated dates of November 13th. I see Premiere and Media Encoder are in the same boat with outdated help articles, which makes me think it’s some minor shared library or security update for all 3, but some solid information—even if minor—would be appreciated. Eager to see when the 2026 releases will be out of beta, too 🙂
I have a MacBook M3 Pro, and I am still receiving this message when importing AEP files. When I open the file, I also encounter this type of message. I am experiencing the same issue with PNG and MOV files. To be honest, I find it very disrespectful that Adobe does not provide a manual crash report option or an error report generator to better understand what is going wrong.
The advanced 3D description and AE support page both say that advanced 3D now casts shadows from spot and parallel lights, but the option is greyed out. Is this a bug in the current main release, showing information from the beta that isn't actually supported yet? And yes it is checked on in this example but only because I had it turned on when testing environment lights. If I turn it off on environment it turns off in the greyed out spot light as well. See working environment shadows vs no spot light shadows for proof:
I'm displaying a popdown menu in a custom input dialog and I'm getting an odd pink square next to some list items. The two boxed items are consistant from shut down to start up. Even if new items are added to the list (via the Shot.csv spreadsheet. see below), these two CAB and DAB have the issue. Since this is part of a very complicated dialog, I've included is the entire function for this dialog as context. There does not appear to be anything in the .csv that would cause an issue. In input/insight you can lend would be appreciated. Mike P.S. Have you ever thought about executing the request (long ago) for setting a window layout preference so we don't have to change the layout everytime we launch the extension? It'd be soooooo great!
Hi everyone, I have been having this issue with after effects that has confused my professors and I. I will be editing on the app and eventually the preview panel will freeze. Not only on the frame but when I try to start the preview it will go forward a frame and stop. Even when I switch to a different composition it will only show that frame and nothing else. When I do try to edit anyways I can’t see the edits I am making but when I come back to the project they are still there. On top of this I tried starting a completely new project without restarting after effects and even though the composition is blank it still shows the frame from my previous project. I purged my cache, restarted after effects and my computer, reset preferences, and tried uninstalling and reinstalling the current version along with the one directly prior. My professors have never seen anything like this. The app doesn’t crash but literally just freezes the preview. I haven't been able to make any progress
Hey everyone. I am having a real hard time just pasting a simple path from illustrator to after effects in order to use the trim paths tool on it. no matter what method i use to paste it in I cant get it to be an editable path that lets me adjust stroke and color, and lets me aply effects like trim paths to it. I wish when I import the AI file it would stop converting my stroked objects to shapes. Is there a way to stop it from doing this? I dont understand why adobe has done everything it can to mask this task as difficult as humanly possible but here we are. What AM I doing incorrectly? Please Help!
hello all,i have been having an issue with after effects that has been genuinely confusing. i will open the app and start editing, and at some point the preview panel will freeze. not just the frame that the preview is on, but i can't zoom, pan, or see any edits i make. however, i did notice that the changes are still made. that panel just won't let me see it. i've seen this issue posted before, but i haven't noticed any with my specifications. i purge my cache, turned up hardware acceleration, restarted, reset preferences, tried in different projects, etc. it doesn't crash per se, it just freezes. there is no exact behavior that causes it, also. sometimes it happens before i even start working on it. other times it happens just a few minutes into it. i haven't been able to make any progress on my projects as it continually does this, regardless of the countless things ive done to try to fix it. if anyone has any idea what's going on, i'd appreciate the help. thank you. When using the Clone Stamp Tool and enabling Paint on Transparency, the whole layer becomes transparent. I've seen a few threads elsewhere about this but the proposed solutions are time consuming and don't always work. Reproducing the problem:Use the Clone Stamp Tool on any footageEnable Paint on Transparency Result: The entire layer becomes transparentExpected Results: The cloned area remains opaque and the rest of the layer becomes transparent My Workaround:Duplicate the painted layerEnable Paint on Transparency on the top layerUse the top layer as a matte for the bottom layer With the Workaround: The top layer maintains the alpha of the original paint, so it cuts out the painted area like a matte normally does. This is not ideal because those steps have to be deleted and repeated everytime you want to tweak/add to the clone. This has been happening for many years and persists in the latest version of AE. Hi, I've got a *.mogrt template which was using the following block of code:// --- Source: DOG MASTER --- var M = comp("DOG MASTER"); var srcDoc = M.layer(13).text.sourceText; // TextDocument (safe) var size = M.layer(1).effect("Size")("Slider"); // numeric // Prefer string if available; otherwise pass the TextDocument directly. var srcText = (srcDoc && srcDoc.text !== undefined) ? srcDoc.text : srcDoc; // --- Apply on THIS layer using the modern style API --- try { var st = text.sourceText.style; // Make sure it will render (some styles can have fill disabled) st.applyFill = true; // Set true font size and then apply content st.setFontSize(size).setText(srcText); } catch (err) { // Fallback for older AE / legacy engine: build a TextDocument manually var td = new TextDocument( (srcDoc && srcDoc.text !== undefined) ? srcDoc.text : (""+srcDoc) ); // carry over some sane defaults from current value var cur = value; td.
We are encountering an intermittent After Effects render error: “After Effects warning: logged one error – After Effects: Unable to allocate 37,641 MB of memory. Either decrease the memory requirements for the rendering of this frame, or install more RAM. (12803 / Unidentified caller).” What is confusing is that the same composition renders successfully when retried, without any changes to the project, settings, or assets. This suggests that the composition itself should be within memory limits, yet the failure occurs sporadically. From Adobe documentation, it appears that After Effects may require a large contiguous block of memory when rendering certain frames, and that memory fragmentation or internal memory state could cause allocation failures even when sufficient total RAM is available. The renders are running on a machine with the following characteristics: Instance type: c5.4xlarge (32 GB RAM)No other applications running besides After Effects &nbs
They open up with a white green noise and there are 2/5 of the composition screen two-bar glitch at the bottom Providing the link to some test footage of .CRM from Canon C50: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1hJBx_KVy20I0wjVHAtCzzhE_orua7zrx?usp=sharing
Ever since after effects (and premiere?) added the "smarter" colour management systems a while back, i am constantly running into trouble and its hindering my workflow a lot.for example: I'll be editing in premiere, sending a clip to AE using dynamic link. once in AE, it looks different. or, when im done in after effects and render&replace in Pr, and it'll look different.now, i know there are benefits and logical explenations for why this happens, but for me it's just always worked without a problem, and now it doesnt. Now i have to put in a lot of extra work and change settings in multiple programs.my current solution is that every time i send anything over to AE, i have to first click the color management settings for the comp and turn off "use display color management". then, i have to right click all the media i've imported, go to interpret footage>click on main>navigate to the second tab and check preserve RGB>repeat for all files (and remember to do it with any new f
When trying to open After Effects, today suddenly it doesn't open at all.. It comes with this error message: And then, after clicking OK it comes with this: and shurs down.
I'm trying to animate my logo in After Effects and the logo keeps turning into white or gray blocks after adding it to my composition and clicking the 'Create Shapes from Vector Layers' button. I've been told that the file needs to be a vector file so I've taken my elements from Photoshop to Illustrator and I can see all of my elements within my Illustrator project. I've saved my Illustrator project as a .AI file and that's what I'm importing to my After Effects project. Is there something that I'm not doing or doing wrong in After Effects or Illustrator? I just got out of a wrestling match with an AE Plugin trying to get my mask to work "after" my plugin. I'm leaving my findings here A) In case it helps and B) In case someone has a better way of doing this.Say thanks to Claude Code for this --># After Effects Mask Handling for SmartFX Plugins This document explains how to properly handle masks that are applied AFTER a SmartFX plugin renders. When a user draws a mask on a layer with an effect, After Effects crops the output buffer to optimize rendering. This creates coordinate system challenges that must be handled correctly. ## The Problem When a mask is applied to a layer with an effect: 1. After Effects crops the output buffer to the bounding box of the mask 2. The effect must render to this cropped buffer 3. The mask alpha must be applied at the correct position within the cropped buffer 4. **The rendered content must appear in the correct location** - not stretched or offset Without proper handling, two bugs occur: - **Conte
I tried to report the issue but was sent here, so I'll post it here.I'll also answer the survey.Would you like to add after-effects to the recognition?4 starsHere you go.
I am opening this new thread because I am currently facing a "Double Bug" situation:Critical Software Bug: After Effects 2025 (and previous versions) consistently crashes when using the "Advanced 3D" renderer.Community System Bug: I am unable to reply to my previous thread or send/receive private messages. Although the system shows messages as "sent," they are not appearing, and I have now reached a PM limit.I am posting this detailed report here in hopes of reaching the technical team or finding a solution. I have already spent significant time performing exhaustive troubleshooting with an AI thought partner. Below is the full log.[Section 1: Answers to Initial Staff Questions]To clarify the scope of the problem:Is this happening with all projects?Yes. It occurs in ALL projects, including completely new, empty projects. Is it all the 3D model files?Yes. It happens with ALL 3D model files (.glb, .gltf, .obj, etc.). Furthermore, it crashes even without any 3D models, simply by enabling t
Hi all, I work in AE quite a bit but I haven't opened it on my home workstation in a bit (I also work on a mac). I'm now having a problem in which the composition window appears empty for any project (even a new one); it shows the composition background colour but even a new solid or shape layer doesn't show up. What DOES show up is the transform handles around said objects, and the composition thumbnail at top left updates with contents now and then. Working on Win11, with a Ryzen 7 5800X cpu and a 5070 GPU. Really need to resolve this soon! I've been wandering the internet for solutions and have tried... - Reinstalling AE, also reinstalling after using CC Cleaner on it- Purging all memory and disk caches- Disabling GPU acceleration (this makes the comp window just go completely black)- Updating Nvidia drivers (tried the latest Game Ready and then Studio with no change)- Changing Windows graphics settings for AE to "High Performance"- Running AE as a
Hi, I know some variations of this question have been asked before, but I couldn't find a satisfactory answer on here or am still confused. I am having a problem with colors in After Effects, mainly when looking at the preview inside the program vs the render preview in AME vs the QuickTime viewer on my computer vs whatever viewer engine is displaying colors on my iPhone. I am exporting for social media content. When I "interpret footage" in AE, I see it is Rec 709 color space. This is a fresh install of AE and AME, so I haven't adjusted any of the color project settings, preferences, etc. I am applying NeatVideo, CC Vignette, and Lumetri Color effects to the footage. When I export the footage, it looks significantly different in the AME preview and QuickTime which I have found to be a common issue with the player itself. On my iPhone, it looks more similar to what I see in the AE preview but a little less saturated and bright. It's not nearly as bad as QuickTime, though. In
Hello everyone, After a long search online and contacting the plugin developer, I'm turning to you because I'm pretty sure it's an Adobe problem (or can only be solved in After Effects), and I'm also quite certain it's related to the MediaCore interface. When I install the plugin and run After Effects CS6, I get the error message shown in the screenshot. I've tried everything, but nothing has worked. I installed the trial version for testing purposes, so I could try everything without worry. That's why I then let the Adobe App Manager CS6 automatically update to Adobe Cloud CC, which, as you know, renders the CS6 App Manager unusable "without asking." The result is that not only does the App Manager update from CS6 to CC, but presumably parts of the MediaCore interface do as well? This question is for experts who may have noticed this behavior before. Because after the App Manager update, the plugin suddenly works perfectly. My question is whether there's a way to back up the updated
